Award-winning author John Coy talks about what authors and librarians should keep in mind when setting up author school visits, why he loves writing picture books about basketball, and what he's working on now.
His most recent book with Lerner is Their Great Gift: Courage, Sacrifice, and Hope in a New Land, which features photos by Minneapolis-based photographer Wing Young Huie. In this episode he also discusses his picture books Hoop Genius: How a Desperate Teacher and a Rowdy Gym Class Invented Basketball (illustrated by Joe Morse) and Game Changer: John McLendon and the Secret Game (illustrated by Randy DuBurke).
