Show Notes

Well, it’s that time again - the 60’s and 70’s are back.  Yes, bell bottoms have been in and out again six times now, but that’s not what we mean.  We’re referring to the fact that people in this generation are becoming active and vocal participants in their future.  Some of us might get up and cheer, some of us might roll our eyes, but you have to admire that they’re doing something.

The National Western Stock Show is coming up in January, so we’re highlighting a quick interview from our adventure there last year.  The annual American Highland Cattle Association members were there for their annual show and auction (bagpipes included, thank you), and we spoke with a young lady who is not only going places in business, but who made a big impression at the show and sale with her prize heifer.

We hear from her as to how her experiences growing up at Seawind Meadows Farm on Cape Cod have shaped her view of conservation and resource management.  She also talks about how Scottish Highland Cattle have been a part of that learning curve, and her thoughts on how heritage breeds can be a part of a more efficient future for all of us.

We think that’s better than pervasive apathy and “yeah, sure, whatever” any day of the week.
