What does it actually mean to create a culture of honor? In this first chapter of our Culture of Honor book study, we’re going back to the foundation of a message that has shaped our families, relationships, leadership, and ministry for decades. We’re talking about what happens when freedom gets messy, why our instinct is often to reach for control, and why honoring people cannot depend on whether they agree with us, behave correctly, or remind us of ourselves.

We also unpack the story of Josh and Robin and the difference between confession and true repentance. When someone makes a serious mistake, simply identifying what they did doesn’t necessarily reveal the real problem. We have to go deeper. What was happening inside of them that produced the behavior? That process moves us away from shame, punishment, and control and toward responsibility, reconciliation, healing, and genuine freedom. Kingdom justice isn’t simply making sure people get what they deserve. We believe the goal is restoration.

As you listen, I want you to think about the environments you help create in your home, marriage, church, workplace, or community. How safe is it for someone to fail there? And what could you do this week to move that environment one step toward greater freedom? Culture of Honor only works when love stays on, especially when someone makes a mess. Join us chapter by chapter as we work through the book, ask hard questions, and learn how to build cultures where people can grow, repent, heal, and become who God created them to be.
