You can download the episode directly here.

This week, Jonathon Shafi and Craig Dalzell look at why Boris Johnson has chosen this week to deign to visit Scotland and what are the political and economic implications of the policies he is said to be announcing, including the building of a bridge between Scotland and Northern Ireland.

They also discuss issues around the Scottish Government "parking" the independence campaign for the foreseeable future and what that means when the UK Government clearly has not.

Finally, they look at the Russia Report, the stories around potential foreign interference in our democracy and get to the root of the matter by asking why our democracy is vulnerable to such interference - regardless of the source - and what Scotland could do about it.

The podcast also references several of Common Weal's policy papers. Within Our Grasp looks at a pressure campaign that could help bring about independence, the Resilience series looks at what Scotland can do to prevent future crises affecting us the way that the present one has and the twin papers of Data Protection and Democracy and Our Democracy Is Not For Sale examine how to strengthen our democratic process against unfair manipulation.

Apologies for the drop in sound quality in this episode. This is due to the technical limitations imposed by the current pandemic lockdown.
