CTWN Waiver Wire
Three Guys, One fantasy league, and way too much confidence. We talk fantasy football, NFL takes, league drama, terrible trades, questionable waiver claims, and whatever else comes up. No experts, no filter, just three idiots trying to figure out football before Sunday proves us wrong.

Draft Special
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
We break down all 12 teams, the steals, the reaches, the biggest sleepers, and who absolutely bombed the draft. Plus plenty of trash talk along the way.
Alright, here we go. We got the introductory C Town Waiver Wire episode. We got your three hosts, P. Willie. We got Matt Newfield and the commissioner, Ant Lancia. So, episode one, we're going to be talking about a quick little recap of our draft. Who had the best drafts, the worst drafts, uh, quick little steals, potentially Ryan with Ashton Genty. Uh buzzing news this week with uh our model citizen of the week, Josh Jacobs. Stay tuned to hear more about him and 49ers injuries with uh substation next door. So, where do we want to start, boys?
SPEAKER_05I think we should just start off with the 49ers. I mean, if you pull up on ESPN right now, you have some a lot of questionables going on right now. Some noticeable people. You have Mike Evans that says he had a groin issue, but he returned to practice Wednesday. And then also George Cadle, questionable, coming back from that Achilles. You know, they're just trying to ease him right back into it. Yeah, so I just think if you're if you have a 48 honors player, you gotta watch out because that substation can cause your your guy just need to explode one day. You know, we don't we don't know what's really going on.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, the guy I gotta look out for is our good friend Danny, who when we get into the draft segment, our friend Danny had kept Christian McCaffrey from last year. And ever since I think I want to say early August, maybe it's like middle of August, uh, he's been, you know, stepping back from practice. People thought, you know, is it the same thing from 25 when he was, you know, feeling tightness and then he was fine at week one, or is it like 24 when he's out for like what 10 games? And he comes back and then blows up his knee again. It sounds like he's on the right track. It seems like this was a plan after all for him to now revamp a week out before the game in Australia, which I heard now they're in route or probably have already started practicing in Australia yet. So we have that coming up on Thursday.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, and then just a quick thing about that. I saw something on Twitter discussing about the uh length of time they could be spending on the airplane, you know. If you've ever been in a in an airplane, you're kind of cooped up for a while, and you know, I don't think they're doing dynamic stretches on the airplane, so they better be warmed up and ready to go. You know, hopefully they're far away from a substation as possible. But that was something to note. Be aware if you have the 49ers for your pick'em league or your players, just be aware. Uh there may be a quick upset. You never know. So just watch out. We know how long that flight is. I can pull it up right now. If you guys it's gotta be 12.
SPEAKER_03Tell me it's like 12 hours.
SPEAKER_02Like 12 hours of sitting down, it's gotta be rough. Let's see. They're definitely playing cards in the back though.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you know the big boys, the linemen, they need to get moving around on there. They can't be sitting in those seats all night or all day, really.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, you know, who knows? They need uh, let's see. There are I have Yahoo! search, so of course, this is giving me the absolute worst. You know, if anyone knows how to switch from Yahoo to Google, I tried like four times and it's just impossible.
SPEAKER_02These fuckers have a Google Weeks Love a sponsorship. Uh, we are looking for one.
SPEAKER_05All right, after yeah, we'd love a quick shout-out from Google, that'd be great. All right, so I pulled it up after the third take. Uh it takes about 17 hours from San Francisco. San Francisco, that's what it says. And you know, directly uh it's what it's saying, yeah. Uh, you know, it's the distance between San Francisco and Australia is 12,741 kilometers. But you know, what the fuck is a kilometer? I don't know. I don't know. This is Yahoo, dude. Yahoo is not American. I don't know. But yeah, other than that, it's gonna be very interesting, and I think a lot of NFL fans can agree that we do not want to see our NFL teams playing in freaking Australia because God knows when that game will start. And I I I don't know that many people from Australia, and I don't know that many football fans, so I just don't know. We're all gonna be asleep. Yeah, we'll probably be asleep.
SPEAKER_03I think we do know what time that game starts. Isn't it like is it 8 30 at night? Isn't the time zone? It's a morning, isn't it a morning game or something over there, but it's like a normal yeah, is I think that's how they lined it up because unlike the uh London games, we're typically uh waking up. Yeah, 8 35. Yeah, so it's fine for us. It's when they're in Europe. We're all waking up, probably hurting from the night before.
SPEAKER_02Those are some of the best days.
SPEAKER_03Watching some Toy Story little players running around the screen.
SPEAKER_02Or Simpsons, seeing most Lizak just splitting the ball across the screen.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, we're watching Homer Simpson take out your wide receiver number two, and you're like, I'm done.
SPEAKER_05And then it goes to the BK Whopper Whopper song, and then that's a typical Sunday for you.
SPEAKER_02Who's doing with Homer Simpson taking out my receiver?
SPEAKER_05So, you know, I think I think the next thing we should go into is Josh Jacobs, and I believe Saunders has him right. Is that yes?
SPEAKER_02Let me do that. Mr. Auto Draft on the third round.
SPEAKER_05And if you have a phone, I'm pretty sure you're aware of what if you ever see if you have to see the video, because if you see that video, you're you're thinking, no way this guy's playing this year.
SPEAKER_02I I do have to give Saunders credit. I'm looking at his team now. He did draft Marshawn Lloyd, their backup.
SPEAKER_05Alright, this man's active on the waiver wire, so maybe he's not auto-drafting that much. That's pretty good. Way to go, Saunders. So, but yeah, no, the video is pretty damning evidence, and I think you're gonna see a turning point in this season about domestic violence in the NFL. And they might use Josh Jacobs as an example. So I think it's a pretty good chance that he's gonna be out for a significant amount of time there because they're gonna make an example of him. So, Saunders, I feel bad for you, but also at the same time I don't because you know we're in the same league. It's not gonna work out.
SPEAKER_02Watch the video now.
SPEAKER_05Oh shit. Well, people like, why don't you give us a quick play-by-play?
SPEAKER_03Well, we can't show this, but wait, no, is this the real video or is this just people are playing the Ray Rice video and saying it was Shosh Jacobs, but it's not.
SPEAKER_02I mean, if it I'm trying to find this video it's exactly like Ray Rice.
SPEAKER_03I think this is just the Ray Rice video. Yeah, I think it is too. Like the NFL suspended Ray Rice, what for the entire season, and then he was just done after that, right? What's what's not at like, you know, Kareem Hunt, for instance, Tyreek Hill beating his kids. Tyreek Hill, you know, that there's been domestic abuse after this that the NFL has in some part turned a blind eye to. Is he already like suspended for what? Has it already been announced?
SPEAKER_02Minimum is six games.
SPEAKER_03So it hasn't been announced yet. It could be up to it could be the whole season. I think that's the one.
SPEAKER_02Well, they suspended what, Calvin Ridley for the year for gambling?
SPEAKER_03Well, that's gambling. You know, the NFL, they draw the line there. No to gambling. You want to hurt your fancy.
SPEAKER_02Four games for deflated football.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, so the NFL exempt list on Sunday. So it's an evolving situation, but it's not looking good for fantasy owners who have Josh Jacobs. Yeah. So just more to comment on that.
SPEAKER_03This has been out for like the last couple months. Everybody knew there was a chance, but given the NFL's, I think, history, most players have been you know only suspended for a short amount of games. Obviously, for all of us who do not draw draft Josh Jacobs, I hope he's suspended for the entire year and never gets to play.
SPEAKER_05I come down with that. I would love to see Saunders in last place. That'd be a great day. Alright, so now I think we can go into the next segment. You know, I think is go through the draft um and go through everyone. You know, we can have a brief early power rankings.
SPEAKER_02Yes, yeah. The way too early power rankings.
SPEAKER_03Do you guys want to go over how our draft worked this year? Kind of explain some of those details.
SPEAKER_02I enjoyed our draft this year. A lot of fun.
SPEAKER_05I can definitely second that. I I definitely like the atmosphere that we had. Everyone had a nice jacket and suit on. It was very professional.
SPEAKER_03I know. Can we get a photo, P Willy, up here of like one of the group photos? There's a way to like kind of share it on the screen. That would be great. For any new listeners, for those who are kind of new or have found this podcast stumbling around late at night, you know, bore going to work. Essentially, it's a 12-man league. Um, all of us who kind of pretty much grew up together, went to college together. What we kind of did different this year was we did something called a keeper league. So depending on who you had drafted the year before, you could keep them uh based off the pick that you drafted them last year, or if you picked them off waiver wire, you would have them probably at like your last pick, 16 or 15, depending on how many guys you want to keep. So that's what we did. But we allowed only two keepers for this season. So as we kind of go through this and we kind of list off certain players and names, we will mention, you know, who was a keeper, who wasn't. Um, I think some of these names would be pretty obvious, just depending on where they got drafted. So that's kind of a recap of how we did this.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I think it was a good little wrinkle this year instead of just having a regular redraft made people think in the future from last year.
SPEAKER_05I agree. I definitely think most of the was pretty interested in keepers, except for Tyler. You know, it was well received besides maybe one or two. Yeah, so I I think we have to see how it shakes out this year, and you know it can always change, but it was a league decision because we run a democracy here, except during the season when commissioner rules all.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, um he's taking bribes to know it.
SPEAKER_05Yep. This guy, you know, commissioner catches the most catches the most strays throughout the whole season.
SPEAKER_03I feel like I am some dictator from North Africa in the Middle East that's been in power for the last 30 years.
SPEAKER_02Dude, he he wins one title and he changes up.
SPEAKER_03Oh. You know I did. Yeah, you know what? I, as commissioner, I thought a little mix-up inner fantasy would be fun. You know, this is the first time we're doing keepers. So I hope everybody enjoys it. I think everybody did a good job with keepers, except for one person, which we will get into.
SPEAKER_02Well, there's one of your shock story. We got we got the super early power rankings, thanks to uh Anthony's website he found that graded all of our drafts.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. And I think it just got a football ranker.
SPEAKER_0212th place. Kelly Lancio. So he's he's projected to come last. Uh kind of deserves it with that team name.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Yeah. It's a terrible team name. It's an awful team name. From an awful team. Awful team name. Whoever came up with that is a bad person.
SPEAKER_05And I think just a quick sidebar about, you know, we can name him the name. Mike Ford, you know, the guy is uh is not too up to date on his fantasy draft, but um I think something that was that needs to be discussed quickly is how you had one month to put in your keeper before the draft. And you know, we're it's probably one minute until Mike has to draft, and then he asked the whole group, he's like, Can I make my next keeper? And I think a bunch of us, all of us were in shock of just mind you, his first keeper was Josh Allen in the second round.
SPEAKER_03And he had options of, I believe, Justin Jefferson, he had Ramondre Stevenson, who I think right now definitely would have been a good keeper. He had options, and I asked him to let me know, and he literally within minutes of drafting, he said, Can I make my pick? If I was allowed to throw stuff in that room, I would have thrown my computer at him.
SPEAKER_05I think we're all in shock. Just like you like you gotta be kidding me. But you know, it's just it's just how he is, you know, it's keeping Josh Allen second round. I mean, I can't really blame him for that because Tyler and Prairie what did what did Tyler pick uh Lamar Jackson this year? Didn't he pick him like second round or something like that?
SPEAKER_02Picked him third round. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Tyler is Tyler has a heart on for Lamar Jackson for some reason. But and when's the last time he won? Oh, he would tell you he won back when we were probably in freshman year of high school, and he still reminds me every day about it. So that's like 10 years ago. It's a long time ago.
SPEAKER_03So was Lamar Jackson even a Raven yet, or was he still at Louisville when he won? I can't even tell you that. I bet you Lamar's been in the league probably just as long as Tyler's won.
SPEAKER_02So, how do we want to go through teams real quick? We you want to go with that reverse, reverse order since we're already talking about Mike?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I think we should totally do that. Let's go from the worst to the best.
SPEAKER_03So do we want to list out maybe Mike's best picks? We want to go through his entire squad.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I think we can do just a quick go through his squad real quick, and then we can you know highlight some uh some players I think that were good picks, and then some others, you know, questionable.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'd I'd probably say if we want to start off with his best pick, probably just got lucky, James Cook. I think I think that had to be his best pick.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, so Mike Ford was the second pick overall, um, following after our co-host Pat Wilson, who came in last last year. Um, so James Cook was the best running back available. I think it was kind of funny he paired up James Cook and Josh Allen together. Honestly, I don't think that's a bad strategy at all. Um, if James Cook could get more into the passing game this year, I think that could be an elite combination.
SPEAKER_05And then I, you know, maybe it's just kind of I'm a Jets fan, but a questionable pick I have is Malik Neighbors.
SPEAKER_02I have to see where he drafted him. Excuse me, questionable.
SPEAKER_05You know, I find it funny that some Giants fans think Malik Neighbors is better than Garrett Wilson when he's only played what, like a half a season football. And you know, I think Jackson Dart's pretty good. I think there's more to tell on him this year, you know. As you can tell, as you I saw last year, you know, there is a sophomore slump, like you saw Jaden Daniels, and you know, there's some question marks there.
SPEAKER_02So I would like to pump the brakes on the sophomore slump. There was no sophomore slump with Drake May.
SPEAKER_05Oh I knew that was coming because I'm looking at two. Oh, here we go. He's showing me what card is that?
SPEAKER_02Drake May.
SPEAKER_05All right, you know. Oh, you mean my Lord and Savior May. Yeah, the one the only. We got the two gay for May Club over here. You know, I it's you guys know where I stand on that. The the level of competition you played, I think everyone you beat was under 500 last year, but I think this year is the Jets twice. Yeah, I know. We suck, but I think we need to wait a little bit longer on May for my because I think this year you guys have a very challenging schedule, and I think Wednesday night is gonna be a great opportunity for him to silence the haters like me when you guys play Seattle. Now, if he shits his pants in Seattle, I think you guys are in trouble. I think we're gonna be fine. I think we're gonna be fine. He shit his pants in the Super Bowl.
SPEAKER_03Okay, cool. Literally, come on, second year in the league in the Super Bowl against another top defense. This one comes from the NFC.
SPEAKER_05Hold up, hold up, hold up. And then the week before, who do you play? It was the um trying to forget off the top of my head.
SPEAKER_02Broncos. We will have to. The Broncos.
SPEAKER_05Oh, yes, and they had their top defense back of quarterback, and yep. And then you played CJ Stroud, who everyone said it was open before everyone said this good. Yeah, everybody thought, yeah, no. Yeah, no. Enough about Drake May. Okay. I just want to.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's cute. Another Patriot, up and coming Patriot, Traveyon Henderson.
SPEAKER_03What route did he get him at?
SPEAKER_02He got him in the fifth.
SPEAKER_03I feel like that's where he should go, but I have a lot of question marks for him, and I think the Patriots themselves have a lot of question marks for Trevion. I think it's it's coming down to a point that if he doesn't make jump this year, and then I don't really see him being part of this offense as much as we expect him to be from a fantasy standpoint.
SPEAKER_02No, they seemed very clear. I've been looking at the reports all week uh that Ramondre is the number one back in that backfield.
SPEAKER_03Mr. Fumble himself literally cannot hold on to the ball in 50-50.
SPEAKER_02I don't think you'll be able to win the fans over with uh with Ramondre as your lead back. Uh, everyone wants Henderson in. He's got that funky little name on the back of his jersey that seems way too tight. I they need to fanatics figure it out.
SPEAKER_05The fanatics jersey are the worst. But coming from an outside, you know, not a Patriots fan, I I don't understand why they go for Ramondre uh the most. Why not Trevion Henderson did is he just on the bad side of Rayleigh or what's going on? He has a lot of skill, it seems like, and I do not see him on the field a lot. So what is it's what's the deal?
SPEAKER_03It's his style. It's his style, it's running style. Ramondre is your get down and dirty red zone kind of guy, like Laguerrant Blunt, he's gonna run through your face. Trevion Henderson is like what I guess the rest of the league is kind of exploring with like dual running back packages or like a James White or a he's like a Jameer Gibbs. Yeah, you you expect him to get open, maybe be part of the passing game, find the open gap and go for like 60 yards, but I just don't think he is he's turning into that type of player. Maybe he's not getting those opportunities. That's why this is a big year for him.
SPEAKER_05Okay.
SPEAKER_02So it's good to know. Next up, who's projected 11th, is your brother Luke Newfield. Oh boy.
SPEAKER_03Ooh, Mr. Meme himself.
SPEAKER_05Yes, oh boy, I I just see some oh boy, some glaring red.
SPEAKER_02Do you want to uh you want to tell us his keepers?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, absolutely. So I actually was pretty proud of the kid. Luke's come a long way in fantasy. Back when we were, you know, some young bucks back in the day. Luke was not always the best fantasy player. But in the last couple years, Luke has stepped it up and he's really thought about his keepers. So his first one uh was A-Chain, kept him in the first round. Obviously, great. I have a lot of question marks with Miami. Um Malik Willis is now throwing the ball. It's really a whole new system. It seems like they're just gonna feed him, but even if they're feeding him, is that gonna be enough for him to put up the numbers last year? I hope so. We'll see. His other keeper was Travis Etienne. So for those that don't know, he was on Jacksonville, moved over to New Orleans. This is an up-and-coming offense. Uh, Tyler Shug might be good. He might actually get this offense kick started. Um, some wide receiver talent, uh, Chris Olave, uh, I know Tyson's hurt right now, but Etienne should have a big year. Alvin Kamara kind of I think he's done. Um, so Travis is gonna really eat up the line of scrimmage there. He is playing in, you know, another terrible division, so I can see Travis Etienne being a fantastic keeper from the 10th round.
SPEAKER_05That's a really good breakdown. You know, I I just think starting off with Achan, I I do not know how he will produce this year. I think the news is out for the Dolphins this year. I think they're projected to be the number one pick this year. They're projected to lose every game. And I I think when you are that bad, you know, take it from a Jets fan, every team knows that they're just gonna stack the box and make your quarterback throw out of it. And I think that's gonna be tough news for HN and a questionable offensive line. You know, you there's there's not much receiver help, so he is the primary person to get the ball. And I think if you stack the box on him, I think his yards would be limited. But you know, they're but with that being said, he will get a lot of touches. So we just have to see what happens with that.
SPEAKER_02But then the the double edged sword, yes, he gets a lot of touches, but then the dolphins are really. That's bad. Everyone's just gonna game plan for him getting fed.
SPEAKER_05They can just stack the box, have you know a lot of people within the box, like seven people almost, and they can just plan to stop the run. And then once they do that, they can just drop back and try to let Malik go. And but you know, they have no one to throw to. So I I just I think it's gonna be very hard this year. And then also the next person I think is Mike Evans. I mean, he's had some injury, you know, the injury bug going on because now he's next to the substation. I I can't remember last time he's been injured this early in the offseason. Uh, so that is a little concerning.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I got I got something to say about Mike Evans. As a Mike Evans, you know, supporter in a lot of leagues in the past. Um, I can say that this man is operating with not just one hamstring, it's half a hamstring. This man's hamstring has gone through more than I think more players in the NFL have dealt with. He is always hurt, he's gonna stay hurt, and with the big zapper next to him in the substation, I could see him going down like he did last year in Tampa Bay for like four weeks with a hamstring injury. They don't have wide receivers over there. Everybody's going down. I know there's a couple names coming up, but I think his name's Sterbling. Uh definitely, but another young buck. Mike Evans is great when he's healthy, but he will get hurt. It all comes down to when is he gonna get hurt early on, so you have some time to make up any losses, because it looks like this is Luke's wide receiver. Probably what's the first one. Yeah, I guess Romeo Dunze should be his one or say flowers.
SPEAKER_02You know, but even his one is his tight end. Trey McBurry.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah, that's pretty much a receiver. Yeah, and then, you know, just like I talked about a couple minutes ago about Jackson Dart, that's his QB1 right now. I think you know, the Giants have a very tough schedule this season. I think Jackson Dart has some promise. Uh, but you know, I think that's pretty tough to start Sunday night football versus Dallas. Uh, I think that's pretty tough. But he does have, he did take an insurance on him. He does have Jordan Love. So I think you know that's a pretty safe backup to have. Jordan Love's pretty consistent. You know, they are always a consistent team. Their offense is always pretty wishing. And then he does have some sneaky people on the bench. I think uh being a Jets fan, uh Mason Taylor is is on the bench. He's looking to be tight end one with k with Sadiq Hurt. Um, but he does have Trey McBride also.
SPEAKER_02But he also has a Donny Mitchell New York.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_05I'm noticing that right now. Luke Luke Luke has the inside scoop on the jets. I don't know if that's a good thing.
SPEAKER_03That's why he's 11th. That is why he's 11th. Let's be honest. I'm gonna tell you I need to bring this up before we continue because I'm looking at his team and I forgot this happened. So, for context, everybody who who's not part of our draft, we drafted on the evening Ashton Genty went down. Ashton Genty went down on the 24th. Am I right? Or 23rd. It was the evening of the 23rd of August. Okay, so he went down. We're all like getting ready for this draft. And you know, I'm reading out reports that the team is literally in a circle praying for him. We think that this guy's knee is literally corned beef. That thing is off the bone, like he is dead, dead. That shit was slow cooked, never coming back. Oh my god, we are about to hold a funeral service. Yeah, that was it. And then Luke, who, like I said, has been trying to get better at fantasy football, get into the no, get the scoops. Um, we're all declaring that Genty's dead. Luke drafts in the seventh round Mike Washington. That is the backup running back for the Raiders. Luke grabs him there. Luke stands up. We're all like, pretty good, Luke.
SPEAKER_02Like, I thought that was a steal of the draft.
SPEAKER_03We thought it was a steal of the draft. We are hype for him. We're leaving the draft. We're gonna go back to our cars, get an ovacation. Oh, he's fine, it's not that big of a deal. So Luke wasted his seventh rounder for a guy who probably won't touch the field, unfortunately.
SPEAKER_05Is is Genty definitely out? Is definitely playing week one?
SPEAKER_03I I think it's leaned toward he will be playing. Um, we'll obviously get to who drafted Genty later on the podcast and how that is the steal of the draft.
SPEAKER_05We will give him his glory.
SPEAKER_03But Genty is he looks like he's gonna be good to go. Maybe he sits out a week. Okay, have fun, Luke, with Mike Washington. I don't even know who they're playing week one. Um, they're they'll lose. I think it's okay. Oh, they're playing the Dolphins.
SPEAKER_02So easy win there.
SPEAKER_03So that might be a win.
SPEAKER_05Actually, that might work out. So we'll see.
SPEAKER_03If Genty's in, Genty's scoring like two or three touchdowns that game. Kirk Cousins, Kirko Chains behind the snap. I love it. Now that's prime football right there.
SPEAKER_05Yes, yes.
SPEAKER_02All right, let's get into the next team. Next up, placing 10th, midnight hand exercises, Mike Callahan. Let's take a look at it. He needs to get a little bit more sleep, in my opinion. Maybe exercise that brain of his draft a little better. If we're if we're placing down there, uh it's gonna be rough. I mean, I I give him credit. One of his keepers was Puka. That's a solid keeper until the recent news.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, he's our secondary model citizen of the week right there.
SPEAKER_02Might be suspended. That'd be interesting news to see.
SPEAKER_03And as non-PUCA owners, I hope he's suspended forever. I hope he doesn't touch the field.
SPEAKER_05I would sorry, Mike. I would love to see Mike Allen do the punishment. That would be a great day.
SPEAKER_03I feel like he's always a sneaky, like, doesn't make the playoffs, but never in last place kind of guy.
SPEAKER_05I convinced him to play last year. I was like, dude, you should just play. He's like, uh, I'm like, it's fun. We'll have a good time. And he did pretty good, actually.
SPEAKER_02So I think he's got a solid team. He did, he is banking heavily on the Rams. He's got Staffordshire.
SPEAKER_03Not a bad team and Tyron. Not a bad team to be stacking with this year, honestly. Not a bad team. Matt, you want to go through um some of the guys that you like so far? Maybe go over some of his top players.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, no, I mean, as a Jets fan, I'm I'm pretty big fan of Brees Hall. I think I I wait, hold up, hold up. I think Mike did get him. When did he draft him? Can you pull that up? Uh I think he's the keeper.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, fourth round keeper.
SPEAKER_05Fourth round. That's pretty good. I mean, you know, I think for an RB1 of a team that's gonna be running the ball a lot, I think that's pretty good value. Now, a questionable pick I have is Chris Olave. I think, you know, with his injury and his his concussion stuff going on, I think one good hit, and I think he's gone for a while. So that is what I worry about. But he does have Tyler Shock chucking him the ball or shucking him the ball. So I think that could be a value, but in this league, it's only a matter of time until you get your bell rung, and he's already got his bell rung too many times. So I just think that's a little bit of a gamble. And then the next person, I think Tony Pollard. Tennessee, I think it's not they're playing the Jets week one, so we'll see about that. Tennessee is projected to be yeah, projected to be worse um than the Jets, but it's it's I don't know. I I don't know too much about Tennessee. I know their offensive line is questionable. Their preseason has been very shaky, so we just have to see about that. Uh, he does have Kyler Murray stacked stashed on the bench, which I think is a pretty good trade bait for in the middle of the season when someone's quarterback goes down. I think that's pretty good. Old man Debo Samuel, that's not bad. And yeah, he's got a bunch of Patriots on the bench. You know, I think he's I think he's gonna be alright. I just think that some of these players in his starting lineup, maybe not the best.
SPEAKER_03Boom or bust kind of guys. As someone who had Chris Olave last year, like he was great. Obviously, I was freaking out last year when I drafted him. That offense is fun. They score a lot of points for the most part, depending if you're uh a Kamara guy, he did not do anything. But in the air, Chris Olave did a lot, so I hope he continues that with this offense. It should be better in general. Like I said, the division is terrible, it's a terrible division. So hopefully these guys can improve. So I really like Chris Olave as opposed to maybe what Matt's saying, but I totally understand where he's coming from. Um, I have question marks with Kyron Williams this year. Obviously, this is a contract year for um Blake Horam, I think he had six seven or eight touchdowns last year. He he put up some numbers, I think it was more scattered throughout the season. Um, any of you guys can double check that. But it's a contract year for him, and you know, I think Tyler Williams gets disrespected among some fantasy owners. People think he's always due to have a down year, get his job taken away. I don't know. I think Blake Quorum is gunning for that one spot. So I think it's gonna be really interesting to see how the two running backs kind of play this year in that dynamic.
SPEAKER_05And then just a quick note about Chris Olave. Uh Jordan Tyson's out with a hamstring right now, so he will be poised to be a fair share of targets. Beautiful. So, you know, we'll we'll see. We'll see who'll be locking in on him during the year. But, you know, I just do worry about any head injury, then he's gonna be gone for a significant amount of time.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02I think a little sleeper on Mike's team too is Kyler Murray. Headed out to Minnesota. He's got the best receiver in the league. And who knows, could pop off.
SPEAKER_05No, I agree. I think you know, if if he has, is it I don't know, I'm just off Rick for a second. Is it yeah, he has Stafford for QB1?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05So I think if someone's QB goes down through the year, and then Kyler Murray's producing, I think that's a very good trade bait. Or if he just wants to, if Kyler Murray's putting up more numbers than Stafford, I think, I think he has you know two very sought-after quarterbacks. So that could be some trade bait for him.
SPEAKER_02And then next up, unfortunately, finishing ninth, Matt Newfield.
SPEAKER_03Oh Matt, as a you know, co-host, you know, me and you talk a lot about fantasy throughout the year in season about getting better. I think Matt just got on the short end of the stick in a lot of years. Um, he does try.
SPEAKER_05The last couple years you have been threatening, but we've just don't think you're ever gonna get to the I I think I'm the modern day Jets in fantasy in our fantasy group chat. I swear to God, I think I get the worst luck. If you know, for the audience, last year I played P Mark in had to be like a week nine game, and we both had horrific, horrific outing from our players. I I think I only scored 60 points, and P Mark scored 62. So a pillow fight, and of course I lost. So, and then that is what kept me out of the playoffs, so I just still hold a grudge about that. But yeah, no, just looking at my lineup, I mean the Bucky Irving, I just keep on getting tweets about how the turf toe is just not looking good. So I am very worried about that. And then, you know, my other lineup, I mean JK Dobbins, you know, we'll see. I don't know. I I I think I had a better draft than last year, but that's why I think I'm gonna I think I'm projected to finish a little bit better, but it's uh it's it's a lot to see. Jalen Hurts, Anthony. I know you had him and you've talked to me about him. It's just he was he was he was just the quarterback I had to pick at the time. So but yeah, I'll I'll let you guys talk about my team because I might be a little bit biased.
SPEAKER_03So I'll yeah, Max, can you just explain who were your keepers and where you drafted the map and what round were they kept at?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, so for my first keeper was B. John Robinson, and I kept him, he was my first round pick, so I thought that was pretty, you know, not a lot of thought behind that one. And then the next one was Tutorial McMillan. I'm trying to find exactly where I drafted him, but I want to say people, I think I drafted him in like the yeah, six, sixth rounds.
SPEAKER_01Um I like that pickup.
SPEAKER_05Yes, you know, credit credit to Joel Hotchkiss for telling me about that uh last about him. So I I remembered him and picked him in the sixth round last year. And he started producing at the end of the year when they started to catch fire, so that's why I picked him. So those were my two keepers.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, Matt, I think he's a great keeper. Obviously, it comes down to the quarterback situation if they can be on their A game or not. But I saw something, I think he put on like 20 pounds this offseason, so he's just like he's like he's 212 right now. I don't know what he was before. I saw something on Twitter that he he put on weight, but like the dude's a baller. Oh, yeah. He's great. I think you use him as like you got him as a flex. He really became your wide receiver two throughout the year.
SPEAKER_02I think he's gonna be the real I mean he's low-key or receiver one.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you got him and George Pickens together. That is a fun wide receiver combo for your team right there.
SPEAKER_02Kind of boomer bust with Pickens because you never know what uh CD's gonna do.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. So we'll we'll see. Um, I I liked what I saw from Pickens last year, so that's why I went with him.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
unknownP.
SPEAKER_03Willie, I'm looking at his running back situation outside of Bijan. I'm seeing Bucky Irving, which Matt kind of talked about, former uh Lions, David Montgomery. He's taken over the role of Joe Mixon, whose leg exploded randomly. We still don't know what happened. He literally is on like a pirate little peg walking around wherever he is now, lost his leg. David Montgomery will take that kind of role and be the number one guy over at Houston. What's your thoughts on that?
SPEAKER_02I like the move. I think he could be poised to have a big year, but with the bad juju of Joe Mixon just getting his leg blown up, I'd be slightly worried that the same might come. Now he's gonna be the full workhorse. Uh they he did share backfield with the number one running back in the league, Jameer Gibbs, who in most redraft leagues is the one-one. Uh but I don't know. Also, what who was it, Woody Marks had a great year last year?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, they split that backfield with Woody Marks and Nick Chubb. Like that was your two running backs in Houston last year, which was just hilarious.
SPEAKER_02I mean, it's a nice little pick at four. Uh Bijan's gonna be your workhorse. Bucky, I am a little questionable about Tampa Bay's a little question mark.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, after Liam Cohen left, man, that offense, I get a little scared about it.
SPEAKER_02Close off your last running back you took. Pacheco taking over Montgomery's role.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, well, he's hurt. He's hurt. He's hurt again. Classic.
SPEAKER_05Without what's it say? Without timeline, I believe. Uh maybe four weeks.
SPEAKER_02I hate him. You have six running backs, so you are you were definitely blessed in that area.
SPEAKER_05Yes, because I saw the way the board was shaking out, and I knew that people would be fiending for running backs, and I've already gotten some calls about running backs, and you know, I do.
SPEAKER_02You think of people who need running backs. Next up is Tyler.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Yeah. This is our good friend who was against keepers from the start. He he claims that his championship 10 years ago happened yesterday. He thinks for some reason that if he can't uh do a full redraft, then it's cheating and it's unfair. I don't know. I think Tyler's team is pretty good. I think he did a good job with his keepers. He kept AJ Brown at 2-6 and he kept uh Devontae Adams at 4-6. Um, both solid wide receivers. Devontae Adams obviously is more touchdown favored, just given Matt Stafford will just toss him the ball at the one-yard line and feed him on a one-on-one coverage. AJ Brown with Drake May, back to the team he loves and supports, back with his old head coach, Mike Vrabel. Um, for those that don't remember, he was with them at Tennessee. Those last couple years before he went over to Philadelphia, AJ Brown balled out with Vrabel. So I'm very excited as Pats fans, like he willie is like myself.
SPEAKER_02He wanted to be drafted there.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, um, and we could have drafted him, but you know, there's a whole history with that with the Patriots.
SPEAKER_02But going back to McKeel Harry.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I'm literally gonna get PTSD. I can't. Um back to Tyler, we mentioned those two wide receivers, and we forget to mention his first round pick. Uh Justin Jefferson. Uh Kyler Murray, you know, hopefully is the guy.
SPEAKER_02He's healthy.
SPEAKER_03Number nine is not the guy. Maybe if he worked on reading defenses more instead of you know meditating under the goldpost, Justin Jefferson would have had a better year last year. Um, I I really like the Kevin O'Connell offense and everything. So I hope he bounces back. Matt and P. Willie, please go into depth about uh Tyler's running back situation, which I think is hilarious. I think some context from the draft is necessary in this description.
SPEAKER_05Uh I'll let you take this one away.
SPEAKER_02I mean, looking at his team, you wouldn't know he had a running back issue. He has seven. But he does have both Pittsburgh running backs.
SPEAKER_03He took when did he draft them?
SPEAKER_02He took them in the fifth and sixth round back to back.
SPEAKER_03Back to back. Um at that point, Tyler was running out of running back options, like people were just grabbing them up. I mean I he was panicking.
SPEAKER_02He was saying all draft that his running back is Lamar Jackson. And if we go back and look at the backs drafted right after that, Javante Williams, Josh Jacobs, which he might have been a keeper, DeAndre Swift, David Montgomery, like he had an opportunity to get some solid backs. Chose Lamar.
SPEAKER_03At least one.
SPEAKER_02At least one.
SPEAKER_03He could have had Chase Brown like in the first round if he wanted to, but he won Justin Jefferson.
SPEAKER_05So let me give you a little backstory about Tyler's knowledge because he likes to tell me every time I bring up fantasy. So he says every time that Jalen Warren and Rico Dattle, Pittsburgh running game is insane and they produce so many points. Now, I you know, I'm not gonna take the time to verify that, but you know, Pittsburgh has an interesting team this year. A lot of veterans on there, and you know, you have A-Rod on his last year's back behind there slinging it. So we don't know, but I mean I think that's a huge gamble to be relying on Pittsburgh's run game for you know, takes up two two running back spots, and you are relying on that.
SPEAKER_02So I just handcuff yourself.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, you pretty much handcuff your whole team, basically your whole like a quarter of your team to Pittsburgh's run game. And you know, you better hope that their run game is good. And if like let's say they're last in the league or their their bottom ten, that's not good because you have two players, and you know, especially when the bye week happens, that's gonna be very interesting for you. Who does he have to fill? Oh, he's Camara, okay.
SPEAKER_02It's not bad, and maybe Stevenson.
SPEAKER_05Oh, he's okay, yeah, and then he has Carbonett.
SPEAKER_02Sneaky Najee Harris, too.
SPEAKER_05Yes, yes. I I do have to give him credit that uh Najee Harris was a sneaky pickup. He picked him up pretty much, I think, right in the middle of the last preseason game. I think the way Tracy has been blocking for the Giants, he got Jackson Dart murdered in a preseason game. So I think he uh I you know I I think a big guy back there to to black to uh block for Dart.
SPEAKER_02So also it's sorry, now just looking at his team. Tyler, I think, is the only person besides Mike Ford to not draft a backup quarterback.
SPEAKER_05Who's even wow Peoli, what a great call out. Let's who's even available.
SPEAKER_03A lot of QBs went down, I feel like last year.
SPEAKER_02Yes, yeah, it's definitely a gamble, especially with Lamar with his play style, it's a risky play.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, and I'm who knows if Lamar is gonna be using his legs a lot this year, like in previous years. Of course, when last year I had him, he did not run the ball at all and he got hurt. And so but new coach, though.
SPEAKER_02New coach, new coach, new coach.
SPEAKER_05Nope, no more Jim Harbor. So also, yeah, we don't know how that's gonna shake out. You know, maybe Harbor wasn't the guy for Lamar Jackson, and maybe he produces even more, or maybe he was able to mask some of his weaknesses. So I think it's just gonna be something to watch out for.
SPEAKER_02Yes, Commissioner.
SPEAKER_03I I wanted to circle back on one thing. I had to double check it just online. Um, you know, we give Tyler a hard time with his running back selection. I think he had one good pick, or I think he had a couple interesting picks. I think Rico Dowdle is better than some might think. One, he's been just increasing in talent production from his time when he left Dallas to do an assistant at Carolina to now in Pittsburgh. Um, another interesting thing, the Pittsburgh head coach is Mike McCarthy. Old Dallas head coach, Rico Dowdle started off with Mike McCarthy, and that's kind of how he built up his initial years in the NFL. So I think Rico Dowdle is gonna be the running back one there. Um so I think overall, I think that might be a good look for him. Uh uh it looks like he's gonna come back maybe earlier than people might think. I I was kind of under the the idea that he's gonna be out for a while. Maybe Zach Charbonnet comes back midway through the season. I could be wrong by that. Najee Harris uh given uh you know injuries in the Giants running back room, uh the one Scatterboo. Sorry, P. Willie as your former player. I think Najee Harris is not a terrible, terrible pick of 15-7. We'll see if he actually gets some looks. If uh Scataboo was to ever go down, um I think Ramondri's good. I think Alvin Kamara is the toast. I think Tyler Algier is in a running back room with like 10 other dudes. I'm not really psyched on that. And then I don't even want to talk about his other players. That's it.
SPEAKER_02Alright, I'd say we move on. So next up, finishing seventh.
SPEAKER_00Alright, let's take a look at his team.
SPEAKER_02I feel like he's got a solid team. He's it looks like his two keepers were Saquon in the first round and JSN in the second.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, honestly, I mean I mean, I would do the same. I guess he does have another fellow eagle on his roster, Devontae Smith. You know, I think he's gonna get a bunch of touches this year, but uh a solid tight end backup. And then I think it gets a little bit interesting with with his flexes, uh McConkey and JMO. J-mo. J Mo Williams. Jameson Williams. I can say he's been definitely interested in talks with him. He's definitely been looking for running backs.
SPEAKER_02Oh, definitely. His number two running back, like commissioner touched on with is Blake Corb. He's sitting back seat behind Kyron Williams. Could could break out, take over the backfield, but I wouldn't uh I wouldn't put my money on that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I think we see the same kind of thing as last year. Maybe some more touchdown opportunities. The other the other guy that kind of stands out is Jordan Mason. Some guys might remember, or some people might remember him when he was on the 49ers um at 24 when uh CMC's went down. Uh he is looking like number two over at the Vikings. Um maybe he takes over as RB1 over there. I think there's a lot of question marks for him, but he is a late pick in the ninth round. So, you know, sneaky could be his RB2 if he emerges as a true dude. Um another thing that sticks out is his quarterback situation. I think Darch has one of the funnier uh QB. It's Bo Nicks and then CJ Shroud, Mr. CJ Noodle Arm.
SPEAKER_02I can tell you from last year, Bo Nicks, not the way to go. For anyone who is curious, I came in last last year and had to go do stand-up at a bar at an open mic night with half the jokes written by uh my uh co-hosts here and the rest of our league. So I killed it, but definitely questionable picking up bonex. I mean, you got him out of steel in the eighth round. Yeah, eighth round, but there was a reason why he was there in the eighth round.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, no, I well I can quickly back up that P. Willie, you I think you found your second career is stand-up comedy. You absolutely killed it, and you were better than the other two schmucks who were there who could not make a freaking rock laugh. So I think that was great.
unknownThank you.
SPEAKER_03Alright. Um set with this team. I think it's pretty. I wish we were able to pull up the team so people can see the full roster. Maybe we can fix that.
SPEAKER_02We're not that technologically advanced yet.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, this is only episode one, so we have a lot to learn.
SPEAKER_02If any editors wanted to reach out and help us out, that'd be great. Please. Also, maybe like bar stool, part of my take. Give us some pointers. But next up, finishing sixth, we're getting into uh playoff contention here. Or we kind of were with Tyler, right? We got eight-man playoffs.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's eight-man.
SPEAKER_02We like playoffs. So we got uh Mr. Auto Draft himself, Mr. Papa Saunders.
SPEAKER_05Let's pull up his team. Trying to find it.
SPEAKER_02Do we know who his keepers were?
SPEAKER_03Uh his keepers, I believe, were CeeDee Lamb and Josh Jacobs.
SPEAKER_02Oh, so he was the poor soul that kept our model for the third of the week.
SPEAKER_03Did he keep Rasheed Rice? I could be wrong. He might have kept Rasheed Rice.
SPEAKER_02No, I no, because I almost drafted Rasheed Rice.
SPEAKER_03Okay, so it was CeeDee Lamb.
SPEAKER_05I would find it very interesting to see if you did this again and you put in the same teams. I wonder how much he would fall now that Josh Jacobs is definitely not playing week one, and maybe for a good amount of time after that.
SPEAKER_03So oh, he's like running back situation. I think it's a little bit of a nightmare right now. Thank God he has Marshawn Lloyd, so at least it's a body, a starter.
SPEAKER_02But he's got their backup, he could pop off.
SPEAKER_03But Derek Henry, you know, I feel like this is a big question, Mark. You're like, how old is he now? 30.
SPEAKER_02He's old. He's old. I thought he was gonna fall off the cliff last year.
SPEAKER_03Like he he's a beast, and I think a lot of that goes to his training, his diet, everything he puts into is about self-care, keeping his body ready for every season. But it's like, okay, you're old now, and this is a new offense. Who knows what they're gonna do with Lamar? Derek Henry had a lot of bumble issues last year. You don't know if that's gonna carry over. His other guy, Aaron Jones, all another old man, Vikings.
SPEAKER_02Might get taken out by uh Jordan Mason.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. And uh I'm seeing this right now again. He has Jordan Tyson, who is not looking good. I think he has this hamstring issue going on that I believe was an issue, yeah, since since college. You know, that's pretty questionable. So and after that, his bench is pretty, you know, low. It does not I'm half these guys are older on the probably on the older side of the league, and then uh, you know, looking at his, but you know, he does have some good. You got CeeDee Lamb, uh Derek Henry, you know, RB1 to get his touches, and he's got two quarterbacks, Patrick Mahomes and Dak Grasscott, who can score you a lot of solid.
SPEAKER_03So I think he can trade one of these guys. I think Mahomes is gonna get back into the real run of it. And honestly, you know, given that nobody gets hurt, Saunders could really rock one of those two QBs and maybe trade a QB to get you know some help if it's like a backup running back or something somewhere. Um I do like um his second or sorry, third last pick. Was it the Zon the Shah? I'm so bad about that. Stribling is a rookie with the 49ers, given all the injuries by the big zapper, the substation. He's getting a lot of love in camp as a guy that could kind of pick up what might be left off with a Mike Evans injury.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, we'll just have to see. All right, I think we can go on to the uh to the next scene. So we got coming in fifth, uh Danny dimes.
SPEAKER_03Danny dimes, Mr. Substation himself. Yes, he capped uh Christian McCaffrey at the 110.
SPEAKER_02And America's tight end, Kyle Pitts.
SPEAKER_03And America's tight end, Kyle Pitts, at 12-3. You know what? Danny is always a solid fantasy guy. We already touched base about Christian McCaffrey and kind of the question marks there. Um, I think he's gonna be good to go. I have Christian McCaffrey in a couple other leagues, so I'm also hoping he's good to go as well. When it comes to wide receiver situation, I think it's interesting. He from rounds two to four, he went Drake London, T. Higgins, Garrett Wilson. I'll kind of let you guys break that down. I think there's a lot of question marks for all three of those players, quarterbacks. I think it's a nightmare situation for all three of those players.
SPEAKER_05I I can totally second that. Starting off with T. Higgins, you know, quarterback Joe Burrow. Sometimes you think there's word on the street, he might not want to play football anymore because the amount of times he gets sacked. And, you know, just a perfect example is in preseason, he just got sacked again. I think I I would not honestly just look into the future, I would not be surprised if he requests a trade from the Bengals. I think I think he is just having some mental health stuff going on about the amount of times he gets sacked. So just putting that out there now. You know, the next Kyle Pitts. Uh, you know, last year I think he played pretty good. He had some up and downs, but now with Atlanta quarterback situation, you have Tua and Hugh. Yeah. God. And it was not a good sight to see him fumbling the ball around in his last preseason game.
SPEAKER_03It was like his first time playing football. Like embarrassing, embarrassing activity.
SPEAKER_05I, you know, I don't, I don't know. There is just a lot of question marks, and in Garrett Wilson, I think he will, he's obviously wide receiver number one, but at the same time, we don't know what Geno Smith we are getting. We don't know if we're getting Seattle Seahawks, Geno Smith, Pro Bowler, or we're getting Las Vegas, Las Vegas Raiders, Geno Smith.
SPEAKER_02Uh or my favorite Jets Geno Smith.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. My favorite is OG Jet Geno Smith.
SPEAKER_05OG Jet Geno Smith, yeah. We'll see.
SPEAKER_03These wide receivers are dudes, they're guys. I think they've proven themselves. Like T. Higgins arguably could be a wide receiver, one on a team. Obviously, Drake London, Garrett Wilson are already wide receiver ones. Their quarterbacks either stink, or in the case of T. Higgins, like Joe Burrow going down for almost the entire year, and then he does nothing. Um I it's definitely a gamble for all three. Obviously, if the quarterbacks are healthy, have their brains on, I think they're gonna be great.
SPEAKER_02But I'm also afraid just for T. Higgins' health in general. He's always a glass.
SPEAKER_03He's already hurt right now. I think he has a heel contusion. So that's not great.
SPEAKER_02We talked about Kyle Pitts with Drake London. You got two people dependent on two lefty quarterbacks.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_02Like we said about Tua earlier, he looked awful. And then the other guy, you got the other guy, Michael Penix Jr.
SPEAKER_05Like we do in here. I I I know, and then also Jaden Daniels, you know, respect for five.
SPEAKER_04Respect for five, too. Got him at level five as well. Like got him at five-10. Gotta love it.
SPEAKER_02He's just also projected to finish fifth.
SPEAKER_03Wow. So five. Respect five.
SPEAKER_05Respect five. Now he might finish a bottom. Who knows? Maybe he might finish a bottom five quarterback, but we don't know. I mean, last year it was I don't know. O-line's gone.
SPEAKER_03They're O-line. Yes, no O-line. They went to go, I forget who they traded for for the O-line, and he's hurt. They brought in a dude, and I like I said, not prepared for today with the names. Um, but O-line is a serious issue for that team. Who is Danny's backup quarterback? Fernando. Fernando.
SPEAKER_05And he's not even starting. Starting.
SPEAKER_03You like that. You like that? Yeah, so a lot of if Jane Daniels goes down for Danny. Oh no. Oh no. You might see Fernando come in later in the season if the Raiders actually lose, which I think they will they'll not be good. But next team is myself, the commissioner, the defending champion. Um, big year for me. Uh, you know, I made some big trades last year uh with Pat Wilson over here, was able to get um an injured Amaran Hampton, uh George Pickens, and I think Bo Nicks for Cortland Sutton. Uh who else is that?
SPEAKER_02We don't need to talk about the terms of that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, no, I I swindled him, and that kind of let my team to score like 160 points plus every week. Um, I was unstoppable. Uh for my keepers, I kept Jameer Gibbs um in my first round as the 112, so great value. And then I kept Drake May at 1112. Um yeah, I will kind of let the fellows break down my team, but I think I kind of like the balance of it.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, you know, just going through it quickly, um you know how I feel about Drake May. I still have a lot of question marks about him, even though he did make the Super Bowl before the Patriots fans start chatting my ear off. I know he did.
SPEAKER_02He's gonna flourish. He's gonna flourish.
SPEAKER_05Yes, if he like I think he's a good player. I just think the very questionable schedule that was of last year, you know, you guys played a lot of under 500 teams, and then when it did come time to the playoffs, um a lot of you know things did fall your way with turnovers from the other quarterbacks like CJ Stratton, and you got to go go play Broncos in in Denver with with the back of a quarterback. So I think that took a lot of pressure off. And I thought it was I thought it was pretty telling against going up the game, the juggernaut against Seattle and old Sam Darnold. You know, we should have kept him, but you know that that's that's another discussion. But you know, Jameer Gibbs and then Chase Brown. Last year, I had him, I picked him in the first round for me, and he absolutely sunk my team. So I have no feelings for Chase Brown. Um Jalen Mono, I think, is a pretty good solid um wide receiver. DJ Moore, very I think he's gonna get a lot of targets from Josh Allen. He is a very dynamic player, he knows how to get open, and I think Josh is gonna get him the ball. Um, you know, as we know, AFC is Buffalo, they they they they know how to spread it around, and uh they they have a pretty good offense with Josh Allen back there. So and then Isaiah likely um I think um Harbaugh knows knows how he plays and knows how to get him open. We'll just see if Jackson Darr can survive the season um and get him the ball. If not, if he's playing with a backward quarterback, I I think that might be tough for him. Um he will if you want to go through anyone else.
SPEAKER_02Um I mean personally, my favorite pick of his team is Jadarian Price. Uh I was not very happy when he took him because I was hoping to take him that round. Um rookie running back, if people don't know, uh for Seattle. They now have a big gaping hole because uh Kenneth Walker is now a Kansas City chief. So I think the he's just gonna fit right in the takeover there because Charbonnet's kind of hurt, banged up, and their Seattle's MO is just to split the backfield. Um other than that, great keeper in Drake May, look he already said, super late, 11th round. Um Jameer Gibbs should have been the 1-1. Unfair to have him. He's gonna be a machine. But yeah, I mean, the tight end situation, Isaiah likely will see if he's gonna flourish without having uh Mark Andrews being the big shadow that was casted in in Baltimore. But I like his team. Hopefully, I don't see him down the road in the playoffs. And I can't wait for him to lose this year because he's already letting us hear it.
SPEAKER_05Yep. I can I can definitely second that. So and enough about our uh commissioner, I think let's let's move on to the next team.
SPEAKER_02So third third on the pedestal, we got P Mark. This kid, ball knower, talk about value value keepers.
SPEAKER_03Value keepers, prior fantasy winner. Like P Mark had a bad year the last year. Um, and you know, I think a lot of that came down to his trade antics. Um, if anybody wants to go through, um he he will be a segment this year on the podcast. It's gonna be the the Pat Markovic's trade of the week. Uh he's one of those guys that will sell you um a Pringles, you know, bag of chips, um, some old peanuts from the counter, and a paperclip for your top guy. Um so you know, keep keep an eye out, league members, for his trades this year. But I really like his keepers. He kept Christian Watson at uh round 15. Uh he picked him off waivers, should be a touchdown guy over at Green Bay. Um Dobbs is with the Patriots now, so Christian Watson should flourish there. And then Beshaw Tootin, RB1, maybe. I I have some doubts because I have Rodriguez, but truly RB1 over at Jacksonville. Good offense. Uh Liam Cohen knows what he's doing. Uh Tutin's gonna have a big year, bad division, give him the points. Um, that's his keepers, that's who I like.
SPEAKER_05No, I can I I can definitely follow that. Um, some also good players, um, you know, uh Love, Jeremiah Love, uh Arizona. Uh, you know, he he he got picked very high in this year's draft. Um, but you at the same time, I I do have a question to mark about him with with the offense in Arizona. Uh we we it's it's it's hard to say. But if if he does end up being you know the player he was at Notre Dame, I think he will definitely be a great pickup. Definitely a great pickup by him. Um also McLaurin, he I had him at one point. He was a very good producer for me. Uh you know, Tyler Warren also back there as well, catching passes from Danny Dimes should be pretty good. Um, but yeah, no, overall Pat Pat is has a deep ball knowledge and he he knows when to pick guys off the waiver wire, but also knows will try to sell you a bag of chips for uh RB1. So that that our terrible trades will be named the P Mark Trade of the Week request. And if anyone in our league throws out a terrible trade, you will be segmented. So just be aware of that, okay?
SPEAKER_02We're looking at P Mark, we're looking at Ryan.
SPEAKER_05Yes, yes.
SPEAKER_03Oh, and and maybe and maybe even Tyler. Maybe we have to break that down a little bit later even Tyler.
SPEAKER_05Speaking, speaking of Ryan, I I can't tell you how many times I'm in the office in this during a year, and this guy calls me, and he's like, I have a trade for you. And then, you know, he would he would go on his little rant, and he's like, you know, I think this is a really good trade for you, and then you type it into fantasy uh, you know, trade analyzer, and the thing is just blinking at you saying, Do not take this trade if you like you are dumb if you think this is good.
SPEAKER_03So that's an oil salesman, yes.
SPEAKER_02He should focus on his job more, yeah. But speaking, speaking of Ryan, he is projected to finish second this year, which is kind of abysmal for everybody because if and you the other listeners that might not know out there, he uh finished. The regular season for the first time ever at the top of the table, he ended up flaming out round one of the playoffs.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah, Mr. I'm gonna win it all. But bagpack and sent on his way to Cancun real quick in the playoffs.
SPEAKER_02He does have a good team.
SPEAKER_03Uh so you can start with this, but I will say, as a reminder, we drafted the day Ash and Gente got hurt. Um and Ryan's team is the one that hopped on that that injury to his own benefit.
SPEAKER_02Yes, he he scooped him up in the fifth round, and now the rest of us are looking like fools because his keeper in the first round was Jamar Chase, and then following his second round pick is Kenneth Walker, who could just explode having Patrick Mahomes now. And then in the third round, he scooped up Javante Williams. So he's got three number one backs, which is kind of scary.
SPEAKER_03And then he goes for Luther Burden, who's uh expected to have a big year in Chicago. Um could easily be a wide receiver one over there, certainly the wide receiver two. Um, you know, we talked about he has Ash and Gente in the fifth round. Um Brian Thomas um junior in the sixth round, he had a bad year. Maybe he has a bounce back year this year. Um we don't really know. Um, but still it doesn't really matter if his team looks loaded right now. Um his quarterback, you know, Trevor Lawrence, I think he'll be a solid fantasy quarterback this year. And then I see Baker Mayfield, which I don't know, he's boom or bust in my opinion.
SPEAKER_05I think I think Baker will be will be pretty motivated this year after the Bucs and not want to sign him for a long-term contract after he after he had a pretty good season. So he may use that as fuel to uh you know go off this year. So we'll we'll see. But yeah, definitely good, definitely good quarterbacks to have on the roster. Um because that as you probably as people know, uh there are some teams, some people in our league who only have one quarter, pretty much one quarterback on the roster. So smart by them to uh have them.
SPEAKER_02I I do want to throw a flag on Ryan though. Uh it was discovered at the draft that he paid for fantasy pros to give him advice.
SPEAKER_03Yes, he did. Ryan AI. Um he did use AI. So he is part of the generation of AI.
SPEAKER_02Do we put an asterisk on this if he wins? Um doesn't have his own ball knowledge and he talks like he does.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I know that's this is a great point, and I don't think we give I don't think we should give him credit just because it's funnier if we don't. Um obviously Ash and Genty is a great pick. Um I think that was the one thing he didn't listen to his AI for um was to his benefit after all. Um yeah, no, but I think it's gonna be like last year. You know, he'll he'll win by like 50 points in a couple weeks, and then we get to the playoffs, injury set in. That kid is on the beach watching the actual playoffs win. So I'm not scared. I'm scared a little bit, but I'm not scared too much.
SPEAKER_02Who who you should be scared? Who is projected to finish first, back on top.
SPEAKER_04Started from the bottom, now we do.
SPEAKER_02Started from the bottom now we're here myself. And for those of you that also don't know, yes, I came in last last year, but the two years before that, I am the back-to-back champion. I've only been I've only been in this league three years, so I'm two for three.
SPEAKER_04It's unbelievable. He really is a bowler.
SPEAKER_05He really is the modern Yukon team of this league.
SPEAKER_02I am championship or bust.
SPEAKER_04Yes, yes, he is his stats are either. If he's not in first, he's in last.
SPEAKER_05And then you know, you know who someone I can just hear just ringing through my ears right now is Tyler. Tyler I'm tied for I'm tied for the most championships in this league. Tyler would be quick to say, you remember when I won in fifth grade, back to back? Yeah. People like I'm better, people like, I'm better than you.
SPEAKER_03I at least Tom Brady was still throwing the ball the last time he won.
SPEAKER_02I at least won in the in the modern era. So I I'll let you guys go into my team a little further, but I I personally think you let me have a very top-loaded team, and I think it could carry me all the way to the playoffs.
unknownP.
SPEAKER_05Willie, I just I have something to say. I I I I will be playing you week one, and you are supposed to thump me week one. Um, but I just have to say, I mean, you know, Jer Joe Burrow, uh, you know, like I said before, I think his offensive line is pretty questionable. So it's gonna be a lot of quick passes to you know um T. Higgins and Jamar Chase out there getting the ball. Um but I just think if he gets hit so many times, he and he's also very injury prone. Um, let me just take a quick look. Who's your all right, Jared Gosser backup? So pretty, pretty safe play. But I mean, starting Joe Burrow, I don't know. Uh Jonathan Taylor, you know, Jonathan Taylor is a very good running back, solid, very solid. Um, I I think it's gonna be heavily dependent on Danny Dimes back there too, because if Danny Dimes can't throw the ball and they're gonna load up on Jonathan Taylor, then he might be in trouble this year. And then RB2, Cam Scattaboo. Oh man, I mean, when is this guy not smashing his head through the wall? Uh he's smashing his head through the wall.
SPEAKER_03Got him at 10-12-2, which was a great keeper location.
SPEAKER_05Yes, great keeper. And but you know, there there is the concern of him getting hit in the head too many times, and he's a pretty reckless running back. He's he does like to take the hits on the sideline. Uh, you know, that that does stack up pretty quickly. So we'll we'll just have to uh look at that. But then yeah, and then also just just going down. I I can say Judkins, I was very close to keeping him on my uh on my team this year. But since I was already keeping Bijan, I thought, you know, it'd be smart just to let him go. But um I got him in the later rounds, and I think you know he's gonna get a lot of touches with the Browns and whoever's playing quarterback back there. But uh definitely pick. And Anthony, I'll let you, I'll let you dive deeper into this one as well.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, just going on the Judkins part. I like Judkins. Um, talk about our third stand-up citizen of of the league. Um third quarterback situation is is is insane.
SPEAKER_02We've got a lot of stand-up citizens so far.
SPEAKER_03That like I think this was some part of my take, but worst contract like ever in the history of just contracts. Absolutely just sports contracts, but contracts in the entire world. Like the that is crazy. Um you know what I I would love to see a browns back uh bounce back year, but even if they're not good, Judkins will still be consistent for you. Uh Brock Bowers. I had Brock Bowers last year on the super team. Uh obviously he got hurt. Uh he was doing with a knee injury for like the entire year last year. Hopefully he stays early. I'm sorry, he stays healthy. He's got Kirko chains um in the backfield for at least until they want to put Mendoza in. So that could be fun. Um Kirk will find him hopefully more than uh number nine did. I'm sorry, more than Gino did. Sorry. Uh Gino Yeah, when it comes to the wide receivers. Marvin Harrison Jr. Um I don't know, guys. I I'm not a big fan of him. Obviously, I have Michael Wilson, who I think is better. But Marvin Harrison has had a tough year. Um Camp saying that he's due for a bounce back year, you know, when it just comes to just like family history, like he comes from absolute champions in the NFL, absolute beasts. Um his dad, obviously. Hopefully he has a good year for your for you. Um I hope he doesn't. I hope Michael Wilson gets fed a lot. But like who knows? Um Parker Washington, he kind of came out of nowhere last year and led the wide receiver room at Jacksonville. Once again, good team, um, good offense, bad division, should be fed pretty heavenly. Um see Jonathan Brooks. I sorry, P. Willie, I don't like him. I think he is just injury after injury after injury, but you don't really need him because you got three other running backs.
SPEAKER_02Um I mean I agree. I if if he stays healthy, I think he can take over that backfield.
SPEAKER_03We'll see. Um, you know, Chuba lost his job last year, No Rico Dowdle, but um it's it's either the old guy versus the guy with one leg. Um I I I trust the guy with two legs, then one leg, personally. Uh Kenyan Sadiq, jet tight end, maybe gonna be a big receiver this year. Um I have him in another league. We'll see what happens. He could just miss well out.
SPEAKER_02Check down Warriors. Dino Smith's not gonna have a lot of time.
SPEAKER_03Oh my god. Yeah, but he also just did not do Brock Bowers any favors last year. Maybe blame the O-line for that.
SPEAKER_05I was about to say, let me let me hop in on that. As you know, the readers' offensive line was Swiss cheese. It was bad for Gino. And I mean, you know, he did have playmakers of Genty and Bowers, but you know, it's there's only so much you can do if you have three seconds to throw the ball and you get sacked every time. Um, I think that's why it's a little bit more promising for Gino this year. He has a better offensive line, um, has a lot of playmakers around him. Uh Kenyan Sandiga is definitely one of those playmakers. Just the problem was that he missed all of training camp uh with a sports hernia injury. So we just have to see how he responds to that. Uh current reports are that he is you know up and moving around and practicing with the team, but it is probably gonna be Mason Taylor week one and probably through, you know, probably I'd say through the first six or seven games of the season. Uh, and then once once he's fully back and healthy and gets his reps in, he will be pro you know be probably around number one at that point. He'll get a lot of targets. He has a very uh has a lot of you know upside to him, but I think that's a perfect person to stash in your bench. So when he does finally come about, I think you can put him in.
SPEAKER_02It's like I just need him for week 13.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, you know, per perfect playoff time. You know, maybe it's garbage time already for the Jets, and they're just trying to get their young guys in, and he'll get a lot of touches. So no.
SPEAKER_02But yeah, I got a lot of a lot of risk, hopefully a lot of reward. But I mean, I feel like you guys glossed over the crown jewel of my team, I'm in Ross St. Brown.
SPEAKER_03Well, yeah, that's without speaking, like Mr. Consistent, Mr. Beast himself. You got you got golf as your QB2, so if you want to stack him for a day at the right matchup, that's gonna be electric. Um, he is the the core of your team.
SPEAKER_02But it's gonna be an exciting year. Hopefully, uh things go very well. Hopefully, this is our podium right here, at least three three in this recording room.
SPEAKER_05Yes, sir. And then I think you know, throughout the year we're gonna have a guest on every week to discuss. So we're gonna put the league on notice. You will be invited at one point this year to come on and talk, talk about your team and talk about maybe your matchup and you know how you maybe some trades that go their way.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Some trades. I mean, you know, maybe if if if you uh if you want to hash out a trade with someone on here, we would love to just be a counsel and just sit and watch and you know, we can object to anything.
SPEAKER_02Oh, that would be electric. We would, yes, if any of the boys want to pitch their trades on air and get the guy on the horn and just talk through it live.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Yeah, or maybe just call out like a team that you know maybe took your your waiver guy, maybe offered you like a pile of dog poop for a trade, you know, what whatever you want to talk about.
SPEAKER_02Throw it in the group chat. We'll have both of you on. We can settle it, uh settle it live. Also, looking forward at our podcast in the future. I think we'll have a parlay of the week, hot take of the weeks, some uh Dr. Newfield locks, surgical locks, we have in those.
SPEAKER_05Yep, yeah. Oh yeah, oh yeah. Yeah, no, definitely we're gonna be uh having those parlays of the week and we'll be keeping track, you know. We're not gonna do anything too crazy. We're trying to make money here because we all have rent now. So I I definitely think you fellas should uh follow us. And if you do want to put in uh a uh, you know, whenever whenever whoever comes on, they can they they can throw in in their leg and we can have a four-legg parlay. So definitely something to watch out for.
SPEAKER_03And I think one thing that we should mention is um like all great fantasy leagues, um, last place has a punishment. Uh we decided this year that we are going to pick three options to vote on uh before the year started. Um I will go over those quickly of you know the three. One of them was open mic that Pat did um you know last year, which was great. Um didn't really get much love for this year's punishment. I will run through the other two that I think. Yeah, I think no one else can really do it after you. Like it just won't be as peak. Um, you know, as when it comes to college basketball, we we might differ on our teams. My team might have caught some strays unnecessarily, but uh that's aside the point. Um the other two that is now on a deadlock tie, um, it's a 5-5 vote tie. We're actually missing somebody, actually, we're missing two people to vote. So I don't know what these two other people are doing, but they need the vote. I'm gonna figure it out later and put it in the group chat. But here are the two other punishments. So the loser is dropped off from probably our favorite bar um where we kind of grew up from um five kilometers away. So that's like what 3.2 miles or something like that. Um the loser's credit card is at the bar, tab open, and the boys are treating themselves, spears, shots, whatever they want, and the loser has to run to the bar, and the mini gets to the bar, the tab ends, and he will pay whatever is on that tab. Um, and then the other one is because as a group we like to golf together, um, the loser must caddy for the winner wearing a dress. So those are our punishments right now.
SPEAKER_02I think both punishments are a home run. Uh whoever to the two aren't that haven't voted yet, please get in the group chat and vote.
SPEAKER_03Uh yeah, I'm gonna figure this out. Maybe we can call him out, but you guys can keep talking. I'm gonna go investigate who hasn't voted yet.
SPEAKER_02I personally would like the the bar tab one. I think it'll be funny, because if we end up getting Ryan, it's gonna be like an hour.
SPEAKER_04It's gonna be like two.
SPEAKER_05I know, I can I I can definitely second that. As soon as we said that, there were some people in that room who looked around and was like, I my you know, it might be a month's worth of rent uh on that on that bar tab. Um, but yeah, no, I think I I definitely favor the bar tab, but then also the caddy would also be a lot of fun seeing someone out there. Some of us in a skirt would not be a pretty sight, but I think it'd be a very good moment. It would be hilarious. So I think we have pretty two pretty good options. Uh, we just need uh two of our of our league mates to vote, and Anthony might have something to give us an update about that.
SPEAKER_02Yes, Commissioner.
SPEAKER_03I I do have an update. Um, after looking through my records, aka the group chat, I have determined the two people that have not voted yet.
SPEAKER_05Um, wait, can I can I take a guess before?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, absolutely.
SPEAKER_05Okay. Absolutely.
SPEAKER_03If I just go to the whole like league in itself, how how we look at our leadership.
SPEAKER_05I think I know who to. I think I I think Matt will go back to the. You guess one, I'll guess the other. My first one would be Mike Ford.
SPEAKER_04He voted.
SPEAKER_05Oh.
SPEAKER_01Wow.
SPEAKER_02My first one, my first one is Saunders.
SPEAKER_01No, he did not vote. Oh I knew it.
SPEAKER_05I knew it.
SPEAKER_03Wait, are my am I off?
SPEAKER_05Listen, listen, I didn't I'm apologies, Mike Ford. I didn't expect much when you were asking to do your other keeper two minutes before you drafted.
SPEAKER_02No, I think that's valid. But seriously, boys get in there and vote. Um if you're not in our league, and you still have to list the other person. Who is it? So it's Saunders and Move.
SPEAKER_03I feel like something's wrong here because it looks like only we're missing three people, but math-wise, that doesn't really make sense. Right now it says that Tyler hasn't voted. And it says that hasn't voted. And Danny hasn't voted. So no Tyler, no Danny, and I do not see Saunders on here either. Uh like I said, it kind of doesn't make sense. We're a 12-man league.
SPEAKER_02How's our three people?
SPEAKER_03I don't know.
SPEAKER_02I voted twice by accident. No. I just fixed it. I just fixed it.
SPEAKER_03You did he will we. Oh yeah, you did vote twice. Alright.
SPEAKER_02Sorry. Hand up, sorry. Um so Danny, Tyler, and Saunders, please fucking vote. Uh if anyone of the general public who's not in our fantasy league have any uh any say on what we want to do, DM me, Patrick Wilson27 on Instagram. Um love to hear your thoughts.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, no, I I definitely think uh, and those who this is a very long episode because we went into a lot of details about the draft, but I can promise you the upcoming episodes will be a lot shorter. Um, I know some of us have a longer commute than others, but you know, definitely look out for this to come out on Tuesdays and Wednesdays before the Thursday night games, before the week, before it kicks off for the next week. So just be on the lookout. Um, we'll probably have another episode out. What do we say? Was it Tuesday or probably Tuesday? Oh, yeah, Tuesday because try to get it out for Wednesday morning. Yes. So on your nice Wednesday morning commute, you will be listening to our beautiful voices, and you know, we will take each and one of you through the through the uh league year, and we'll tell about our uh highs and lows. So there's there is a lot more to come.
SPEAKER_02So thank you. I think it was a successful first episode.
SPEAKER_05Yep, thank you guys.
SPEAKER_02So stay tuned.
SPEAKER_03Stay tuned. Check the waivers, vote, and if you haven't, pay your dues.
SPEAKER_02Pay your dues. Is there oh, real quick before we go. Commissioner, can we have a quick ruling? If people haven't paid their dues, will there be a punishment? And how long will you let them slide?
SPEAKER_03Oh, so it's out now. Um the league's gonna hear this probably in the next day, maybe two. Um the long weekend's coming up. I know nobody's working. You haven't paid your dues yet. I'm gonna find out. Matt holds the dues, by the way. Um, so he he will tell me who hasn't paid it.
SPEAKER_05Well, I can give you a help day right now, surprisingly.
SPEAKER_03I know I know where everybody lives.
SPEAKER_05Yes, we all know where you live. Uh I can report that there are no all dues are in. So we are ready to go. Yes, no, I I made sure to hold everyone by the neck and at the drafts and be like, you're gonna mm me right now. And it worked out. So, and then those gave me cash. You know, uh, some people gave me cash because they don't believe in banks, uh P mark, but you know, it's fine. Um so yeah, we have I have cash, I have memo, so it's all right.
SPEAKER_02I also gave cash just because I had it on me. But I know.
SPEAKER_04Um guy, what can I say to Willie?
SPEAKER_02All right. Uh that's the first episode on the books. Stay tuned. It's gonna be a great year. Uh we love you guys.
SPEAKER_03All right. Peace out.
SPEAKER_02See you next week. Peace.
