Seattle Pacific University Season 1 Episode 16

Jamie Shattenberg ’99 graduated from SPU with a degree in biology and returned to Madagascar, where he was born, to do the work he felt God called him to do. He is the international director of Eden Reforestation Projects in Madagascar, directing large-scale reforestation work, which provides income for over 1,200 men and women throughout the year while restoring the devastated ecosystems. To date, they have planted more than 240 million trees, empowering the Malagasy people to make a difference and take care of their own needs in ways that are sustainable.

Shattenberg has been named SPU's 2020 Co-Alumni of the Year, along with his wife Alissa Wuertz Shattenberg ’00, and will be recognized at this year's Alumni Awards Dinner on February 8, 2020.
