By the guidance and direction of the Holy Spirit explaining why we have trials.
Hello, brothers and sisters. I'm just Joe No Title, and thank you for joining me for the Lord's Word of God today. Brothers and sisters, we must be tested to grow in Christ, whom God has drawn has grown from one grace to another. So if you brought your Bibles today, please turn with me to the book of Hebrews, chapter 12. And we'll start reading verse 5. My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by him. For whom the Lord loves, he chastens, and scourges every son he receives. So, brothers and sisters, we go through trials to make us better to get close to God. And God is not like our earthly fathers, who strike us every time we make a mistake. He's long-suffering. He gives us long rope, but at some point he will chasten us, so that we may be partakers of his holiness. So now turn with me to the book of Matthew, chapter 5, and we'll see what Jesus says reading from verse 8. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. So, brothers and sisters, when people go through trials, they do one of two things. They either run to God or they run from God. And you always want to run to God. You must have a perfect heart towards God, or you will not see God. So now let's turn to 1 Corinthians chapter 11. We'll start reading verse 31. For if we would judge ourselves, we would not need to be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world. So God chastens the ones he loves. If you're doing something wrong, if you're serving yourself. If you're serving yourself, that's selfishness. It is not pleasing God. Some have accidents when they decide not to hear God and do what they want. People that do what they want will not be saved. So now let's turn to Romans chapter 8. Well sorry, reading verse 16. The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. And have children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ. If indeed we suffer with him, that we may also be glorified together. For I consider the suffering of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory, which shall be revealed in us, and he gives you more grace to endure the suffering. One last passage. Turn with me to the book of James, chapter one, and we'll read verse 12. Blessed is the man who endures temptation, for when he has been approved, which the Lord has promised to those who love him. So, brothers and sisters, the crown of life is for enduring trials. So, brothers and sisters, continue carrying the cross given to you by taking Christ as your master, your teacher, your example. Believe his doctrine and obey him. And read up every day and pray up every day. Keep the love of Jesus in our hearts, and we will all be with our Lord and Savior for eternity.
