Aug 09, 2019 Season 1 Episode 31
James Daubeney

Episode 31 of The Story of rock and Roll was recorded in the Mix 93.8 FM studios in Midrand at midnight on 9 August 2019.  It was a joyous celebration of Women's Day and the fact that it's a long weekend.  It was also the first episode recorded in the revamped Studio A with a brand new desk.  What a pleasure.  It also marked a change in the recording process for the podcast.  My Apple Mac Book Pro died and has been replaced with a Dell / Microsoft system.  Again, what a pleasure.

The highlight of the show, certainly according to the Whatsapp line was Richard Pryor's Brand New Day, an instrumental blues monsterpiece.  I was also kaked out for mispronouncing Patlansky, thanks Paul, noted :-) It's good to have people who care enough to point these things out.  The weirdest / odd man out track was without a doubt Robert Palmers Clues which was a real jolt of nostalgia.  Machine Head were sent in to restore normality.  All  in all it was an eclectic mix of Rock, Metal, Ballads and Blues, a two hour education in high voltage rock and roll, and as mentioned, it was also Women's Day and the release day for the brand Slipknot album.  Ain't Life Grand \m/

Artists featured this week include:  Metallica, The Pretty Reckless, Pebbleman, The Four Horsemen, Machine Head, Def Leppard, Rainbow, Chickenfoot, Live, Thin Lizzy, Bruce Springsteen, Skid Row, Headpins, Arch Enemy, Paul Stanley, Joe Walsh, Fokofpolisiekar, Halestorm, Slade, W.A.S.P., Rammstein, Skid Row, ACDC, Robert Palmer & Tom Petty
