So I think for"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":69.03,"endTime":73.02,"body":"our clients, it's important to"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":73.02,"endTime":75.48,"body":"always do your research, when"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":73.02,"endTime":75.48,"body":"you're looking for a puppy, try"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":75.48,"endTime":79.2,"body":"to meet the parents if you can."},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":75.48,"endTime":79.2,"body":"I think that's an important part"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":79.2,"endTime":82.71,"body":"of it. And the more experiences"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":122.04,"endTime":124.71,"body":"they can have through"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":122.04,"endTime":124.71,"body":"socialization, the more"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":124.74,"endTime":130.56,"body":"important it is. And we also"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":124.74,"endTime":130.56,"body":"talked about fear periods during"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":130.65,"endTime":134.79,"body":"a dog's development, and that we"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":130.65,"endTime":134.79,"body":"sometimes see it at the eight"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":134.79,"endTime":139.05,"body":"week to 10 week stage. And then"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":134.79,"endTime":139.05,"body":"again, I have seen it in in"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":139.05,"endTime":143.49,"body":"adolescence, where a dog is with"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":139.05,"endTime":143.49,"body":"heightened emotions and is in"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":143.49,"endTime":147.96,"body":"that developmental stage. So"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":143.49,"endTime":147.96,"body":"sometimes those things pop up at"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":147.96,"endTime":151.26,"body":"those critical periods. And it's"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":147.96,"endTime":151.26,"body":"important to know how to handle"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":151.26,"endTime":156.54,"body":"that when you see it. I always"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":151.26,"endTime":156.54,"body":"think I like to think of a dog's"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":156.54,"endTime":160.53,"body":"development very much like a"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":156.54,"endTime":160.53,"body":"child. So a baby, a one year"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":160.53,"endTime":163.68,"body":"old, they're open to every"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":160.53,"endTime":163.68,"body":"experience, and you want to take"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":163.68,"endTime":167.49,"body":"advantage of that, you know,"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":163.68,"endTime":167.49,"body":"everything is new, nothing is"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":167.49,"endTime":171.63,"body":"scary, everything is new. But as"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":167.49,"endTime":171.63,"body":"they get older, they start to"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":171.63,"endTime":174.09,"body":"learn from different"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":171.63,"endTime":174.09,"body":"experiences. And if they're"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":174.09,"endTime":177.63,"body":"negative experiences, they're"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":174.09,"endTime":177.63,"body":"going to develop fear from that"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":177.84,"endTime":181.65,"body":"experience. If it's a positive"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":177.84,"endTime":181.65,"body":"experience, they're going to be"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":181.77,"endTime":185.94,"body":"more positively motivated"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":181.77,"endTime":185.94,"body":"towards certain things. So as as"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":185.94,"endTime":190.2,"body":"a child, and as a dog gets"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":185.94,"endTime":190.2,"body":"older, their window for being"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":190.2,"endTime":194.58,"body":"innocent, let's say it gets"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":190.2,"endTime":194.58,"body":"smaller. And you know, they as"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":194.58,"endTime":197.19,"body":"they get more experienced in the"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":194.58,"endTime":197.19,"body":"world. So we always want to try"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":197.19,"endTime":199.74,"body":"and make those experiences as"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":197.19,"endTime":199.74,"body":"positive as possible."},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":201.03,"endTime":203.31,"body":"Yeah, I love that. So I"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":201.03,"endTime":203.31,"body":"actually have a story that"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":203.31,"endTime":205.77,"body":"relates to this today, because"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":203.31,"endTime":205.77,"body":"Baxter is he's about a year and"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":205.77,"endTime":208.95,"body":"a half. And we've been going"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":205.77,"endTime":208.95,"body":"into the high school to do some"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":208.95,"endTime":213.3,"body":"therapy work. And he saw a coat"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":208.95,"endTime":213.3,"body":"tree for the first time. So it"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":213.3,"endTime":216.87,"body":"was a had maybe four or five"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":213.3,"endTime":216.87,"body":"coats hanging off of it. And it"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":216.87,"endTime":219.0,"body":"threw him for a loop. And you"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":216.87,"endTime":219.0,"body":"know, we've done our"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":219.0,"endTime":222.03,"body":"socialization, and we've worked"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":219.0,"endTime":222.03,"body":"really hard to get him to"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":222.03,"endTime":225.03,"body":"experience lots of new things."},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":222.03,"endTime":225.03,"body":"But I definitely saw a fear"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":225.03,"endTime":229.05,"body":"reaction in him. And so this can"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":225.03,"endTime":229.05,"body":"happen, like you said, at any"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":229.05,"endTime":231.63,"body":"stage of life, it can just come"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":229.05,"endTime":231.63,"body":"along. And maybe it's just some"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":231.63,"endTime":234.54,"body":"random thing that all of a"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":231.63,"endTime":234.54,"body":"sudden, we notice, oh, our dog"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":234.99,"endTime":238.77,"body":"has an issue with that, and then"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":234.99,"endTime":238.77,"body":"we can help them work on that."},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":238.89,"endTime":243.54,"body":"So as we move into that"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":238.89,"endTime":243.54,"body":"direction of topic, I guess,"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":243.84,"endTime":247.38,"body":"let's talk about counter"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":243.84,"endTime":247.38,"body":"conditioning, and explain maybe"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":247.38,"endTime":251.04,"body":"what it is, and describe an"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":247.38,"endTime":251.04,"body":"example of how we would use it."},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":251.34,"endTime":254.91,"body":"Sure. So you"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":266.01,"endTime":269.04,"body":"always want to approach"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":266.01,"endTime":269.04,"body":"something that a dog has had a"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":269.04,"endTime":272.67,"body":"negative association with."},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":269.04,"endTime":272.67,"body":"Usually from a distance, we're"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":272.67,"endTime":275.43,"body":"going to talk about threshold"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":272.67,"endTime":275.43,"body":"training, so but I find that"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":275.43,"endTime":277.95,"body":"they go hand in hand nine times"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":275.43,"endTime":277.95,"body":"out of 10. An example"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":294.42,"endTime":298.62,"body":"that I can use as I was training"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":294.42,"endTime":298.62,"body":"a really lovely Golden Retriever"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":298.62,"endTime":303.03,"body":"named Melton. and mountain had a"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":298.62,"endTime":303.03,"body":"little anxiety he was a little"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":303.03,"endTime":306.78,"body":"bit of an anxious dog. And we"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":303.03,"endTime":306.78,"body":"were walking on a bike path when"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":306.78,"endTime":311.25,"body":"somebody on a bike came swooping"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":306.78,"endTime":311.25,"body":"in on us and like cut us off and"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":311.25,"endTime":316.98,"body":"freaked him out. So I had to go"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":311.25,"endTime":316.98,"body":"all the way back to a bike"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":316.98,"endTime":321.72,"body":"parked and walking up to that"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":316.98,"endTime":321.72,"body":"bike from a distance.
