And I treated"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":169.35,"endTime":173.16,"body":"it in very different ways. As"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":173.16,"endTime":176.46,"body":"Emily mentioned, he should he"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":173.16,"endTime":176.46,"body":"started demand marking for food."},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":176.61,"endTime":179.43,"body":"So I just ignored him"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":176.61,"endTime":179.43,"body":"completely. And I didn't and I"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":179.43,"endTime":182.67,"body":"walked away from his food. But"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":179.43,"endTime":182.67,"body":"when he was alert barking"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":182.7,"endTime":186.39,"body":"outside, I redirected him away"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":182.7,"endTime":186.39,"body":"from whatever was triggering"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":186.39,"endTime":190.26,"body":"him. And then later on when we"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":186.39,"endTime":190.26,"body":"were downstairs and he could see"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":190.29,"endTime":193.8,"body":"golf carts going by, and he was"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":190.29,"endTime":193.8,"body":"being calm, which he was barking"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":193.8,"endTime":197.34,"body":"at before I was rewarding him a"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":193.8,"endTime":197.34,"body":"lot for calm behavior. So I"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":197.34,"endTime":201.78,"body":"think it's important to redirect"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":197.34,"endTime":201.78,"body":"and as those cases but also to"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":201.78,"endTime":204.48,"body":"really reinforce the good"},{"speaker":"Barbara Cannon","startTime":201.78,"endTime":204.48,"body":"behavior as well."},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":204.63,"endTime":207.93,"body":"Dogs love patterns, right?"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":204.63,"endTime":207.93,"body":"So if they start to get in this"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":207.93,"endTime":211.56,"body":"pattern of you see your dog head"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":207.93,"endTime":211.56,"body":"out, like to stare out a window,"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":211.98,"endTime":214.29,"body":"and they're starting to get"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":211.98,"endTime":214.29,"body":"really intense, I can start to"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":214.29,"endTime":217.71,"body":"anticipate they're most likely"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":214.29,"endTime":217.71,"body":"going to start barking then we"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":217.71,"endTime":220.59,"body":"can redirect them even before"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":217.71,"endTime":220.59,"body":"the barking start so that the"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":220.59,"endTime":223.77,"body":"barking is not part of the"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":220.59,"endTime":223.77,"body":"pattern anymore. Versus I think"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":223.77,"endTime":226.14,"body":"sometimes people just wait until"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":223.77,"endTime":226.14,"body":"the bark happens and then they"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":226.14,"endTime":229.17,"body":"do something about it. Much like"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":226.14,"endTime":229.17,"body":"jumping or counter surfing the"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":229.17,"endTime":233.37,"body":"dog does the action we respond"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":229.17,"endTime":233.37,"body":"that's now the pattern right dog"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":233.37,"endTime":236.31,"body":"puts his paws on the counter"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":233.37,"endTime":236.31,"body":"gets off we asked him to sit we"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":236.31,"endTime":238.74,"body":"say yes, we give him a treat."},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":236.31,"endTime":238.74,"body":"But the jumping is still part of"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":238.74,"endTime":242.85,"body":"the pattern dogs stares out the"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":238.74,"endTime":242.85,"body":"window they park we say leave it"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":242.88,"endTime":245.67,"body":"or whatever you know, to"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":242.88,"endTime":245.67,"body":"redirect them away the barking"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":245.67,"endTime":248.04,"body":"is still part of the pattern."},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":245.67,"endTime":248.04,"body":"But finding that pattern and"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":248.04,"endTime":251.34,"body":"being able to anticipate my dog"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":248.04,"endTime":251.34,"body":"is going to bark if they sit and"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":251.34,"endTime":254.25,"body":"stare out the window, we can"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":251.34,"endTime":254.25,"body":"redirect them before the park"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":254.25,"endTime":256.08,"body":"happens and really change that"},{"speaker":"Amy","startTime":254.25,"endTime":256.08,"body":"pattern."},{"speaker":"Courtney","startTime":257.19,"endTime":260.37,"body":"And also realizing too"},{"speaker":"Courtney","startTime":257.19,"endTime":260.37,"body":"that if you are going to get"},{"speaker":"Courtney","startTime":260.37,"endTime":263.49,"body":"access to that window that you"},{"speaker":"Courtney","startTime":260.37,"endTime":263.49,"body":"need to be training because if"},{"speaker":"Courtney","startTime":263.49,"endTime":266.55,"body":"you're not ready to train and"},{"speaker":"Courtney","startTime":263.49,"endTime":266.55,"body":"your dog just has access to that"},{"speaker":"Courtney","startTime":266.55,"endTime":269.37,"body":"window to bark at you're not"},{"speaker":"Courtney","startTime":266.55,"endTime":269.37,"body":"going to actually see the"},{"speaker":"Courtney","startTime":269.37,"endTime":272.49,"body":"progression you want to see in"},{"speaker":"Courtney","startTime":269.37,"endTime":272.49,"body":"the training because sometimes"},{"speaker":"Courtney","startTime":272.52,"endTime":275.31,"body":"they're still allowed to bark"},{"speaker":"Courtney","startTime":272.52,"endTime":275.31,"body":"which is always going to make"},{"speaker":"Courtney","startTime":275.31,"endTime":279.0,"body":"you kind of take those couple"},{"speaker":"Courtney","startTime":275.31,"endTime":279.0,"body":"steps back with the training.
