A game can look like a glitchy mess to everyone watching and still feel amazing in your hands and Cairn is our proof. We break down why its limb-by-limb climbing, stamina management, and piton “mini-saves” create real tension and real relief, the kind of accomplishment most modern games chase but rarely earn. If you’ve been hunting for a new PS5 game that feels different, or you just love design talk that goes deeper than graphics, this one gets into the details.
Then we jump across generations with the kind of playlist only a weekly gaming podcast can justify: RGT wraps up Remember Me and explains why its memory-driven sci-fi story still works, even when the difficulty spikes feel out of nowhere. We swap party-night memories from Jackass on PS2, talk Metroid Prime 4 on Switch 2 including performance options and that classic Metroid backtracking sting, and revisit Ratchet and Clank as a reminder that tight controls and strong art direction never go out of style. RGT also shares Bristol pickups and the oddly satisfying logic of trading piles of “shelf filler” into something you actually want to keep.
On the news side, we dig into The Seventh Guest remake landing on PS5 without VR and what that signals about PSVR2 support, marketing, and why VR only truly shines when the physical setup matches what your brain expects. We also unpack Xbox Project Helix and the bigger question it raises: if Microsoft leans harder into Windows, Steam, and a cross-device “Xbox mode,” what even counts as a console anymore? If you enjoy gaming industry news with real player perspective, hit play, then subscribe, share it with a friend, and leave us a review. What’s the one game you’re obsessed with right now?

Welcome And Chaos Energy
SPEAKER_04Hello and welcome to the unofficial controller podcast, your weekly gaming podcast, episode number 309 with me, George, and this week joined by RGT, pork sword, to mind no more than 20% meat pocket.
SPEAKER_00How's it going? Uh yeah, I'm good. Unusual entrance, but yeah, good.
SPEAKER_04I thought I'd come in this week a little bit sort of off kilter. I think I've run out of gaming analogies at 309 episodes, so you're a pork sword, and I'm a less than 20% meat pocket. Nice. I'm happy with that. I came in with that probably a little bit giddy off the back of me and Scott last week because he wanted to be the male receiver and I wanted he wanted me to be the female socket or whatever it was, and I thought me and you could sort of pick that up, but he's not here, so no, no, we'll just get it back down on a low-key. People like the high energy uh for the me and Scott. Uh some would say it's the best energy. I've been around a lot of energy in my time, and some would say it's the best.
SPEAKER_00Oh see you like then.
SPEAKER_04Oh my goodness, let's bring you in. Let's caress your forelock and tell you what a mighty handsome gaming hero you are. Um guess what though? I mean, we've already bumped the algorithm, but we've got some Xbox Helix news. How do you feel about that? Interesting. Interesting. Get ready to take a walk on the wild side of what Xbox have got planned for their future next gen. Um also sounds like someone slamming the final nail in the coffin of PSVR2. Um don't be like that. But I suppose the question really on everyone's lips I'm sure with a week in the weeds, it's gonna be quite uh a tall tale of uh 2D farming Sims. But I'm all ears because I've I've kind of missed you. Uh and I've got the fans have missed you, it doesn't really matter whether I do or not. Um fair enough. Well things are changed, you've changed. Look, they wanted this persona. I can't carry it. I barely am this person, okay? But I'm trying.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but once his show is done and we just turn off record, you will be weeping, you'll be pleased take me back. I didn't mean it. It was just a you know, it was an accident, me and Scott, it was just a fray, but you're the one I love. I know this is all gonna come out at the end. I had I've been in this situation before.
SPEAKER_04I don't like to disappoint you. So I'll ask you what you've hoping to put what you've been playing. I'm hoping, hey, well. Look, whoa, slow blinking the show's gone. That's all we've got time for this week, ladies and gentlemen. I'm done. See it a bit.
SPEAKER_00Shortest we've ever done, in and out.
SPEAKER_04What have you been playing then, you great big blumming scroton?
SPEAKER_00Uh wow. You've changed. Um I finished our uh Gen 7 playthrough game, um, RGT back in the past, which is Remember Me. I played on the PS3. Um some played on the 360, I believe. But um, yes, got that in done. Got it done quite quickly, actually. It's not a very long game, two or three sittings got it done. Um it was interesting. Um, I've been talking to a few people about it.
SPEAKER_04Um I thought we'd spoken about this, or am I dreaming, or is this some off-air chat with that?
SPEAKER_00I think we're off-air chat, I don't think I've spoken about it on the show. Oh, okay. I've been absent for a couple of weeks, so uh yeah. Yeah, because I went I missed a show because I was in Bristol and then didn't do the next one. So two weeks, yeah. Wow. How time flies. Anyway, yeah, remember me. Um if you haven't heard of it, it's a Capcom game, like very late in the PS3 or Gen Generation 7 live song.
SPEAKER_04Oh, it's not by Capcom. We talked about this before, I know we did.
SPEAKER_00Okay, published by Capcom, published by Capcom. Sorry, sir. I do apologize. Um, but if you look at the box that's got Capcom splashed all over it. Um it's interest, very interesting story. I uh the story I thought was good, very unique. It's um it's a bit it's set in the future, it's in a lot of almost like a cyberpunk Paris, um, where the sort of the currency, if you will, is memories, and you know, people deal in memories, and you have this sort of virtual sort of disc on the back of your neck, and you know, it's it's straight, it's almost like to give you a perfect life, so you can only remember good things, and uh obviously that I I got shades of altered carbon with that neck and the stacks and the memories and whatnot. Yeah, that's a good show, that's a good show. Um, but the actual genre of game is very hard to put in because it's it's climbing is very sort of uncharted. You do I didn't expect this, so there's lots of climbing and uh lots of yellow directed climbing hold spaces as well, isn't that? Yeah, very that's very sort of uncharted. Then there's like the combat is almost like a it's got that Arkham Spider-Man style where the the enemies behind you will flash when they're gonna hit you, and then you have to either block or react and dodge or blah blah blah. Um so it's got that to it. The story is very I mean, these this is from the guys who done Life is Strange.
SPEAKER_04Um that's it. Don't nod, is it?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, don't nod, that's it. So it's got that that's got that that very sort of the narrative vibe to it, which is good, well acted by by the people who are playing the parts. Um yeah, it's it's a very good game.
SPEAKER_04Should isn't Matey in it. I think I remember his voice being in it. Matey Who plays Joel, what's his name? Oh yes, he is. Um everything that boy.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, oh god, forgot his name now. Um that'll come to me anyway. But um, yeah, it's it's a very different game. There's some of the dips and dies of the leveling of the game was a bit random. Um, like me and Carlos are the only two who finished it so far, I think. A couple of us have bounced off it. Um, but there's this, and I'd got near the end, and then Carlos said, Have you fought them two guys yet? I was like, No, and he's like, Oh, alright, okay, I won't say in the morning. Anyway, and I tried about 15 attempts to beat these guys, couldn't do it, and I thought, this is frustrating me. I don't want to break my retrofight as defender, so I'm just gonna calm down, turn the TV off, waited to the next morning. I had one go, failed, next go, done it. Just zoned in and got health, health, health damage, health felt, felt they worked away to do it. But that was an absolutely brutal fight in that.
SPEAKER_04I remember when I played Remember Me, there were times where I kind of got zoned in to like playing this certain bosses over and over again. I remember there's a time where I'd kind of put the controller down, went outside, did some bits outside, came back in again, and then much like you did, I just managed to do it. Yeah, but the game has these, as you say, weird moments where everything is is fine, it's a level playing field, everything's good, and then out of nowhere. And I don't know whether it's the game hasn't taught you the skills you need or whether it's just an unexpected spike in the difficulty level, but these moments arrive and they kind of like feel very disjointed with the rest of the game. Because it has been like this smooth like journey up until these points, and oh ridiculous spike out of nowhere, boof, and then back to the level playing field again. Doesn't make any sense really from a narrative point of view.
SPEAKER_00And I think because what what we haven't discussed yet is they have this thing called presence, which is like you can have a uh you you actually map out your own combo for your fighting style. Yes, yes. So I how I got over it in the end is my first combo I would have. So basically, if you delivered a combo in order, you would get say health. If you delivered another combo in order, you'd get a power shot. If you've done another combo in order, you would build up your special moves. So I done one which was just all health, one that was all special moves. So I could do get you get get my health up, do a special move, get my health up, and then build basic, not not actually build your special moves up. What it is is when you use a special move, it has cooldown, but you can do it, so the cooldown is reduced really quickly.
SPEAKER_04I think they're the two combos I rolled with.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and that's how I got over that. So it's quite unique how you have to do your own combos to benefit yourself in your playstyle, which you can change at any time in the game. You can drop in that menu and do that.
SPEAKER_04They're a lot of combos though, dude, aren't they?
SPEAKER_00Some of them are because they're you you need to be on up with the timing. This isn't there's not much of a window. You need to go triangle, square, circle, triangle. But then you might get cuffed in the back of the head from behind, and then that combo's gone.
SPEAKER_04So right when you need the health, though, it can be very frustrating.
SPEAKER_00That yes, yes. So it's it it can be tricky, but once once you master it in a way, it makes it a bit easier. But very unique story. Um, looked good, looked really good. I had it upscaled, so that was sitting at about 60 in 4k, and that did look stunning.
SPEAKER_04That looked I would love to remember what episode it was where I talked about my experiences with it because I would love to be able to bring that forward because it's been a while since I played it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's what originally got me to buy it. We were chatting about it off air, blah, blah, blah. And you said this, and I've never heard of it. And then I went in, I think I went in the CEX, and that was there. And I was like, Oh, that's the one George is on about. I'm gonna pick that up. Um, but yeah, it's quite they did have a second planned, um, which was about 2015, but that got cancelled, and then they concentrated on I think it was the second iteration.
SPEAKER_04So we had this whole conversation off air.
SPEAKER_00Yes, I believe so, yeah. If I'm if I'm wrong, community corrections, but I'm sure we haven't spoken about this on the show. I don't think so.
SPEAKER_04This is what's happening to me with this like double show recording with the flashback. Blur's into one. I have no idea what's real, and I don't re ever really remember when or when we don't press record. So yeah, as we say, some of our best shows happen before we even press record. But oh, what else you've been playing then, if uh fat's remember me all done wrapped up with a plenty bow on top of it.
Metroid Prime 4 First Impressions
SPEAKER_00Um had my mate round for a bit of a game night, and because what did we do? We just jumped straight back on Jack Arse on the PS2 and just laughed our heads off for a couple of hours and just. Oh wow, just had fun, and then I got and then once he stayed over the night, went home. Then I was looking through my games next day, and I was like, oh my god. I bought the collector's edition of Tony Hawke's three and four to match the one and two I had, because I've got the two decks. I've been saving that game, I haven't broke the seal on it, so me and him can play that together and could just end up playing Jackass all night. And I sent him a picture saying, 'I'd saved this for us, he's like you absolute plank.' And I was like, I know. He didn't actually put a lot out, he put a lot worse, but I won't put what you put. But um, yeah, so um next time then that'll be that. But yeah, Jackass as always is just so much it's just brilliant fun. Do you know what I mean? It's it's just one of them that people don't I don't think of as really much of a party game, but you just play it together, taking turns on levels and trying to get all the ticks on every level, and it's just hilarious, stupid fun, really. But yeah, that was good good time. Um Metroid Prime 4. I started that when we went away to Bristol on Switch 2.
SPEAKER_04I wondered if there was a game that you had taken with you.
SPEAKER_00Yes, that I'd had that sitting in the backburn, and I was like, I'm not gonna play that until I finished Final Fantasy Rebirth. Rebirth is I'm getting find it hard to get back onto it. So I was like, no, while I'm away, I'm gonna I want to start a new game, so I started that. Um I was having great fun with it. I think even in handheld or in um uh docked mode looks good. It does look very good.
SPEAKER_04Um how's it compared to prime remastered?
Ratchet And Clank Back In Rotation
SPEAKER_00Um I haven't played prime remastered uh re I did said mastered, like you then mastered. Um but it this is um I in I'm trying to think what that is in docked and what it is. I think I had 4K 60 docked, or you can have 1080p 120. Um I was doing the 4K60. Um right, yeah, and then in handheld you can have 1080 120, I believe, or 720. No, no, 720, 120 or 1080 60, which I had 1080 60. But it just looks really good. The only thing I find with a switch to, I know I've got sausage fingers, that's the old gammon gauntlets, but when I'm using the the RT and LT, I can I can tend to catch the top button because they're so close together. So I end up firing a rocket off, or I found that with Gear Club as well, so that's a bit hard, and the analogue sticks aren't quite as they're a bit oversensitive to what a pro controller is, so you do whipping around with it. But um, good game. Um Carlos asked me how I'm finding it. I said, well, I I was enjoying it because it wasn't quite as obtuse as the original primes, there's a bit more hand holding in it, um, to which I've now played another hour or so and realised that I can't go any further because I've missed bits in there, which I had no idea about in the last tower where I was. So I've now got to go all the way back and try and find these bits, which is so I think oh, maybe it is a little bit obtuse. Um, but I've got the motorcycle on there, I've been riding around on that on this level. Um, I wouldn't say it's this big open world, like on Breath of the Wild, where you had the bike and you'd carry on with you're sort of in this area, um, sandy desert, and you can collect these crystals and you'll just ride to the next area. There's not a lot there, but it's it's an interesting side to it, it's an interesting uh look. And you do get that when you're in when you first get the motorcycle in this tower, you have to do challenges almost like Tron on these tracks and shoot things and learn how to defend and dodge and this on the motorcycle, which is quite good. Yeah, um, but overall I'm enjoying it. Um I think it looks good, plays well, it's definitely interesting. Um, it's it's it's a well-made product, it's definitely that, you know. It's obviously you can tell us a Nintendo First Party title, but can I see me going all the way through it? Time will tell. If I can crack this, go back, you know, this backtracking has gone a bit now. I'm gone, oh, gone so far past that now. You know, because I only knew because there was this there was this item. I was trying I was searching the desert and I saw these items you could get, and I was like, Oh, how do I get that? I don't know. So I googled it. Oh, use just use your thunder shot. What's the thunder shot? I haven't got a thunder shot. Oh, yeah, you get it in the tower in this certain room, you do this, this, this, this, and then you've and I'm like, well, I had no idea that was there. My map, I thought I'd covered everywhere in this tower. So I've now got a backtrack, do that. So if I can get over that and sort of work it out a bit more, I might see it to the end, but we'll see. Overall, it's it's a decent game. I think for Metroid fans, if you're a Metroid Prime fan, you'll love this. I think it's you know, that's right up there street. Um, and finally, as I messaged you the other night, I've just started Ratchet and Clank a cracking time on PS4. What's that all about?
SPEAKER_02I thought you'd already finished that game.
SPEAKER_00No, no, I've played it a couple of times but never finished it. And then I've now recently completed my PS3 Ratchet and Clank collection because I just had to get Nexus, which I got in Bristol. Um, and I thought, do you know what? Maybe I should start playing them. Not just the whole blitz of them, but that's the first one on PS3, is it cracking time? Yes, it is, yeah.
SPEAKER_04That's good, doesn't it? I said to you the other day, like Uncharted's got some brass balls coming in here saying it's it's the best looking game on Uncharted 1, especially. You've got some brass balls coming in saying it's it's pushing the PS3 when you got that game.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, look stunning. I mean, and when you get some of the cutscenes, and yeah, and you look at Ratchet's face and he's talking and that, you think, oh, that that is.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I think when you get off of the you always start, obviously, I think in in a lot of Ratchet and Clanks, you start off in that metropolis world. And I think in this one you do again, don't you? Cracking time, you start off in the metropolis world.
SPEAKER_00No, no, you start off in this as clank, and you're trying to escape because you've been captured, and then you go to Ratchet, who um is going to r uh uh rescue him, and you crash land on this planet. So the first one you're on this planet.
SPEAKER_04Has he got loads of like um time warps brown ponds everywhere that you kind of hop through to get to see these time warps? Is that the right game?
SPEAKER_00No, it's got time warps in, um, there's bridges and stuff, and you go through and you meet this race on there and you help them for a bit, and then you repair your ship by you get invaded, you you kill all these aliens, repair your ship, and I'm now off back in going to another planet. You've got a lot of Star Fox sort of shooting mode, and you're in.
SPEAKER_04I need to brush this one off. I agree. I need to see if I've played it.
SPEAKER_00So I thought I'd you know, because they're only 10-hour games, a bit like Remember Me, I suppose. So something I can, you know, get done in a couple of weeks, two or three weeks, and then I think in a way, sometimes I think they're quite challenging at times.
SPEAKER_04They catch it. They catch you out. You're like, oh, this is easy. A little bit like Remember Me smooth pond. This is great, not too challenging. Poof, you walk into an area, you're totally not prepared for oh hang on a minute, might just have to have another go at this.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, they can be, can't they?
SPEAKER_04Some good boss fights and stuff in there, but it's always enjoyable though, and and to be fair, if you only ever die because it's something that you've done in those games. It's not to say you're like, oh bloody controls.
Bristol Pickups And Collector Talk
SPEAKER_00I've got um, I've just realized as well. My TV had a um um lot of booster on it, so you don't get no delay from your controller, and that changes that game. Um I was showing, I was showing Mrs. RGT and I was saying, look, this is normal, and then I went on the controller, change it to boost latency, and that was smooth and quick as anything. Because obviously I've got an aftermarket controller, and I was like, Oh, that that makes a big difference, you know. So, yeah, it's really enjoying that. Um I just don't think I'd ever not enjoy Ratchet and Clank game, and that would be quite a bad, a bad one for me not to enjoy it. But yeah, yeah, um, that's pretty much what I've been playing, I think, George. So, what about you?
SPEAKER_04What have you been uh regale me, please, if you may, with a quick round robbing of your pickups from uh Bristol. I would like to do an old school hashtag listener stingray on them, if possible.
SPEAKER_00Okay, um, let me just find them because I'll have to remember what I bought. I did um I was mainly after. Um did you send them to me? Um I can't remember if I did or not. You hate you, so probably not. No, probably not. I mean I'd have you blocked, so it's probably best for everyone. Um I got some steel books, so I got sniper two PS3 steel book, I got the um special edition of prototype two, I got the collector's edition of Call of Suarez, I got the special edition of Need for Speed Shift, which is like the Tyre sort of case.
SPEAKER_04Oh, yeah, that's the one I asked you about.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and then I got the double pack, Rockstar Double Pack, Grand Theft Auto for PS2, which I didn't have, but that was really good condition. I was pleased with that.
SPEAKER_04Uh GTA 3 and Vice City.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Didn't you want to hold off and get the triple pop?
SPEAKER_00I want to get both.
SPEAKER_04You want to get what?
SPEAKER_00Both.
SPEAKER_02I could not leave that on the table.
SPEAKER_00Both. Um Dishonored Persial. Both both. I got both both.
SPEAKER_04I don't know what I'm doing. I've just inherited Tourette's off your misstep.
SPEAKER_00I don't know, I don't quite know what's happened, but uh dis Dishonored Special Edition PS3, I got Silent Hill Homecoming PS3, um NTSC of uh version, because it was cheap. Um then I got obviously Ratchet and Clag Nexus, I got a couple of imported satin RPGs. I got myself a red dwarf cup. Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast. Um I got a Famicom game, which I can't remember the name and I can't read it, but it's like a mech shooter sort of thing. So yeah, done done quite well. Got some good bits and pieces there. You've done good, yeah. Yeah, good Christmas. Definitely, definitely, yeah. I had a great time, really good. Great to meet you know, retro ed and meeting up with Scotty again, and yeah, we had we had a great time. Good fun. Okay.
SPEAKER_04Well, I'm gonna bore you with some games talk if I may be so bold.
SPEAKER_00I don't think you'll bore me.
Cairn Climbing Controls And Survival
SPEAKER_04You don't think I'll bore you? Okay. So let's start with this. Psychonauts. Okay, I'm gonna bore you. Right. Okay, let's start with this. Then we'll get back to that.
SPEAKER_00Let's start with this. I want to hear about psychonauts.
SPEAKER_04King of Indus is in town. He's been playing can. PS5. Yeah. The cloimy cloy me. Yeah, the climby climbing. Grabby grabby. I like the game. Um it's a bit obtuse, it's hard to love, but there are moments of like real um Is this a bit octo dad where you have to move the animals? How I would I don't know if that's how I described it to you or OG when I was on the phone the other day, but that in videos and to someone who sat with you, a significant other or a mate, or whatever it is, they're watching what looks like the glitchiest game they have ever seen in their life.
SPEAKER_00But where you're sort of unsure the
SPEAKER_04Analogue so you sort of do this and that it's a little bit more like okay, so let's break this down. You climb by approaching a surface, pressing square, uh, and then you climb in a way that you will have never have climbed in a game before. Square is what then chooses which limb, so it works in, I think, a clockwise direction, starting with your hands. You push up or move your hand wherever you want it to go, and that's the beautiful thing about care. It doesn't restrict you to handholds or uncharted like bits of climbing that you have to stick to rigidly, it does not. Nor is it kind of breath of the wild or some of those other games where you just scutter up these things and it's a stamina race. There is stamina in this, yeah, don't get me wrong, but here we go. You walk up to the wall, um, depending how hard you push up on the left analog stick, depends how far they reach, that has a determination on your uh stamina. The weird thing is, as I say for a third party watching this, is that you are looking like and you're quite right, RGT. This is my description, look like Octodad, because your limbs are everywhere, your leg's on backwards, it's on upside down, it's four feet above your head, it's on the floor. You then select that and it animates beautifully when it actually does the animation of you putting the leg where you want it to be, then you select the other limb. Well, all of a sudden, a leg's over a shoulder, it's above up in the air, it's down in the ground, because it lets you pick, it almost lets you take the limb and pick exactly where you want it to go, and then you press square for it to place so you can find little grips in the rock for her hands to go in, or you know, if you can't find any grips, it she starts to really struggle and and fall back. As you work your way up these rock faces, um it's quite cool actually because the tutorial takes place in a rock climbing room, you know, with those fake rock walls. Oh, yeah, yeah. Oh, I see. So you can really see how the climbing skill set works. The final wall you climb is actually a rock wall at the back of the rock gym. There's this climbing place that you're in. Once you climb up that, that takes you up out into the mountain area. Up it comes can.
SPEAKER_00Oh, that's clever.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, money shock. I like this. This is nice, this is good. And the rock walls that you climb up get significantly difficult as you go through the the little rock climbing it. Um you know, you've all seen these rock walls, but you go through one, two, and three. Obviously, three is a little bit more of a different way of doing it. Now, as you climb, you can wedge yourself in crevices and go up that way. You know, however you imagine you want to do it, you can do it. Then you have this little game where you you press triangle to catch your breath, and that's you lets your stamina come up a little bit, and then you can go into your bag, pull out a pit on, nail that in the wall, and that is uh one of those things where you kind of have to stop the slider in the right moment. If you don't, you kind of bend your pit on and it's useless. And they're like, I would say they're almost like mini saves in your ascent. When you do when you actually what you don't see as the gamer, and this is something that I must stress, is you don't see any of the glitchiness as much. You just see like I want my arm there, I want my arm there, and and eventually, as I was playing it, I found I could hold maybe 10% forward on the left stick and just sort of tap square in like a boom boom boom boom boom sort of rhythm as as the you climbed up this wall. You just it it started to become a lot more natural when you first climb on that rock wall, you feel like that third party watching it going, like, oh my god, this looks awful. What the hell are you playing? But to you, you're having like this really great kind of yesterday evening. I was playing it and I'd climbed up, I've been struggling with it a little bit because some of the ascents, even early in the game, are are crushing. You you fall and you you get knocked out and you're hanging on a rope if you've been lucky enough to pit put a pit on in, because I've unlocked a couple of trophies for falling a very long way and surviving, and it made the ragdoll emperor. If you see the ragdoll for the climbing, the ragdoll for the falling is uh equally as savage. Um I forgot where I got to with that. When you've when you've when you make your way up these things, there is a real feeling of like I've accomplished that. That feeling of like you have ascending it. Uh when you I had this sort of precipice, you know, and it's like every in my mind it would be the climber's worst nightmare. You've climbed up this flat wall, and then you've got to somehow get out, round, hang your body up, and then climb around like this bulbous rock formation to get over it. That sounds tricky, and it's like, yeah, a few times I fell and I pit on before it, so it was like, okay, let's and uh there was a couple of times I thought, okay, this is impossible. But I kind of like belayed, it's you know, it's called belaying, so you kind of belayed off on the cleat. I had a drink of water, I'd uh you know, I'm nowhere near even a tenth of the way up this mountain. I've literally blitzed my bag of all food and medicines.
SPEAKER_00So do you have to use those for energy and stuff?
Psychonauts And Seamless PS2 Design
SPEAKER_04Do you do, you do? Uh because you can like you can, I don't know what I think cyclists call it gonking out, where you've literally run out of all food in your stomach, you've got not really enough fat on your body, or can't get to it quick enough to convert, and you just you've got no energy, you've got zero grip, strength, power, nothing. You you can't do anything, obviously. For a climate's pretty dangerous. So anyway, when you finally sort of mantle round these things, and I've fallen a few times and thought it's not possible. It's not possible. And a few times on this wall, I've like then just ascended all the way down the rope to the ground and been like, yeah, done. I'll have a pitch my tent again and have some food or what's left and get some sleep and try another way. I'll try and find a different way up this thing. Um, but eventually I got up over this thing, and that sense of relief of like, oh thank god, I'm up there and like, oh, some flat ground, and I can just catch my bearings. And there's enough kind of pulls as well, like narrative pulls. Like yesterday ascended, and there was like a broken cable car station, but there was a bit of a path, a tourist path you could follow. And I and I was just kind of hiking up, and I felt like, oh, okay, this makes a bit of a change. Boom, straight flat into like, yeah, is it a hard climb then, dude? Bloody hell. Um, but yeah, and but the thing is you look at it and you think, oh, that's hard, but it's not like or you know, it's impossible, it's just it almost that feeling the climbwood feel of like respecting it. So I've got a lot of time for care. And I I I think Seb said he bounced off it, and I I can a thousand percent see why, and maybe it's more my kind of game. Let's face it, we dress it up as a rock climbing simulator, and I'm all over it like a rash. But yeah, I think I think what's it now, like 20 bucks or something. I think it's definitely worth if if what I've said's intrigued you in any way, um, grab a piece of it. I could talk more. There's like a whole sort of survival mechanic of the food and the water, and then there's like these points of interest that you stumble across that I stumbled into a cave, went completely dark, and then the room was lit up with all these like rock caving block like rock cave drawings and things, and it was like, wow, okay. And I followed it through, and there's a little pool of water in there that I refilled my jerry can with and had a little drink out of, and I think I had an empty bottle in my knapsack that I put some water in and made tea with later on. You know, it's it's got some good stuff going on in it. Yeah, I think if what I've said's intrigued you, 20 quid, I think it's worth a go. Let's face it, it's going to be given away by PlayStation with the next 12 months guaranteed. Probably definitely try it then. It's going to drop on PS Plus at some point in time. Definitely give it a go if you've got that. If not, if it even had five pounds off in the sale, I would say give it a go. Or I could probably recommend it for the full$19.99 as well as a curio, uh, for sure. Um, what else have I been playing? Well, uh Psychonauts on the PlayStation 2, if you may afford me this indulgence RGT for a moment, because I was looking at these different I something popped up on the Instagram or some sort of thing anyway on the internet that I was looking at. I don't know what, but there's a picture of all these different years of the PS2 and all these games, and I was like, yeah, yeah, I've got that, I've got that, I've got that. Boop. Roadblock, psychonauts. You know, I never did mantle that pony. Damn it. Get eBay out, get it here, done. It arrived. Expensive? 20 quid or something. Just good, yeah. Yeah, whatever. I just want to play it. I thought, no, let's see this through uh third-party eyes. Rachel, this is Psychonauts. I'm gonna tell you anything about it, put it in. I'm nothing but impressed by Psychonauts, considering it's a game that came out on a PS2 in 2005. I think it was GameCube and Xbox as well. What a really clever game. It was seamless. You go in straight into the game, no messing about. Movie cuts into the gameplay, a little bit of something, something. Then it says, Oh, okay, you're gonna be staying here, go to your dorm, uh, pick a bunk. I mean, your trading starts in the morning. Go through the scene, movie cut scene, you get in your bunk. Not harsh cut to PlayStation 2 save menu. This is you making a save game now, dude. You know, like normally it really abruptly starts at the front of a PS2 game. It was write your name on a chalkboard. So you write your name on a chalkboard if you want to pull it. Oh, that's clever. He flips it over, and that's the name on his chalkboard, that's the name he's save file. And I was like, whoa, hang on a minute, it's 2005. This is a little bit this little bit sexy as far as I'm concerned. I like this just piqued my interest. What's next? Obviously, the the idea of psychonauts are you these people that kind of go into people's brains to solve their fundamental problems through the medium of a 3D platform. Who would have thought it? And uh I know, bizarre concept, but it somehow works.
SPEAKER_00Tim Schaefer, innit? Is it Tim Schaefer?
SPEAKER_04It is, yeah. And it everything feels and looks like a Tim Burton, Tim Schaefer kind of crossover. It looks very nice, looks very washed out on PS2, it's only coming through at 50 hertz at the interlaced image as well. There's no options to fix the video. But what I did like was although there are no options to fix the sound from the get-go, it was full surround. So obviously, people with mono were obviously just going to get the mono experience, people with stereo get the stereo experience because of the PS2 and Dolby Pro logic hidden in the stereo feed is the full surround sound. So I won't bother making people select when it's all in there anyway. So just give them so then if all the options are kind of removed, so you're just totally focused on the gameplay, and it's like this is this is impressing me. This you then you wake up the next morning and she goes through and she's having a seamless experience. Retro Fighter Defender, by the way, sponsorship inbound. I'm waiting, guys. You know, we're jumping on the bandwagon, but you're giving us anyway. Can I have some more, please, sir?
SPEAKER_00Um we I bought a second one as well.
SPEAKER_04We I'm I'm toying with the idea. I said to you I want the pro because it looks way more official PS because of the rounded ends. Story for another day. We bring in this next section. Caretaker stops her on the way. Oh, by the way, look over there. Instinctively, she moves the right stick to look the camera. Those things over there are the things that you need to collect. First of all, I didn't think anything of it. But the next instruction says, Oh, oh, bloody hell, look above me. And it was done in this casual way, look above me, because there's the other thing you need to collect. So she looks up. And I thought, first of all, I thought, why was it done like that? And then I thought to myself, that is the most seamless way I've seen pick your camera controls done in a game. Because normally, Halo as an example.
SPEAKER_02So Chief, wake up, we need to calibrate your systems. Look up. Did you see the red light? Yes, look down.
SPEAKER_04And that's seamless. When I first ever did that in Halo, it felt seamless. But in this, because it only did the two points, but from the two points, you already infer the directions for left and right and up and down. Never mentioned a thing about camera controls. Move forward, little pop-up. If you ever want to change the camera controls, it's in options. Boof. Game carry on. I'm thinking this is really nice.
SPEAKER_00Cleverly thought out, and I've got to do that.
Brutal Legend Then Dead Space 2
SPEAKER_04And the gameplay from there exactly. And the gameplay from there on in was just as seamless. No harsh cut for saving, no like pop-up. And PlayStation, even PS5, PS4, PS3 are particularly egregious for this. You want to save the game. Oh, hang on a minute, sir. You feel like you've been ripped completely out of the world that you're in and sat down at like a PC station at Sony where you're kind of going, okay, yes, please select file save A and B, and then and they're like, okay, you saved your game. And then you're back in the game world. You're like, what the hell's going on? Yeah. PS2 was particularly egregious for that, and that's something that I think if you had an Xbox in that area, you kind of felt as a perk where it wasn't constantly dragging you to that memory card because it was doing a little bit more seamless saving. But the PS2 games that get it right are doing the save in the bottom right hand corner, and you just don't know, which is something that I enjoy. Another game that I've been playing, Brutal Legend on PS3 with Jack Black. Another very seamless, wonderful experience that I've never played.
SPEAKER_00No, I've got it, and I just hadn't started it yet.
SPEAKER_04I might want to bring it in here as a hidden gem if I may be so bold. I know it's a bit cheeky because I know it's probably not a hidden gem, and everyone knows about this, and I'm a bit late to the party. But oh my goodness gracious me. I absolutely love Brutal Legend. Everything about it is something that I would probably normally avoid. But after when I sat down, it starts off a video, Jack Black's, oh, come with me, come with me. Kind of shot following him down a street in like a chase cam point of view. Brings you into record shop. He's looking around, it's like, yeah, I don't really want to know about this, but come down here, they've got it, they've got it. And he goes through the record, oh, they've sold it. Oh no, hang on a minute. Here it is, pulls out this record, lays it down on the counter, you pan down to it, that's the menu to enter the game. As you open it up, that's how you interact with the options menu, and you open it up, it's a gatefold vinyl album, and you see all that metal, you know, heavy metal as a really nice kind of like hellscapes and bits and bobs in it. The artwork for the metal scene in that era kind of that they're invoking was like like nothing else. And then as you work through it, you end up pulling out all the different records as well. When you get all the way back into the options and whatnot, but if you go all the way forward and just open it up, you just press you kind of that's how you go into the game, and you're a roadie for a band that do not deserve you, by the way. Absolute toe rags who profess to play modern metal, but it doesn't make your kind of older, want to wanna be kind of roadie. You don't feel comfortable with it. Anyway, you've built this absolutely monstrous piece of set that for some reason your new metal band want to sort of jump all over. As you're roadie, you're duty bound to save them. You kind of go to save one of them, get crushed yourself. For some reason, yet to be explained, your blood enters this uh belt loop, I think, or necklace that he's got, and that sort of zaps him off to this world where you're driving around uh using like an axe and a guitar and playing music and electrocuting people and smashing them up. You could liken it to God of War, but it's it's hilarious at the same time. Like I it starts off in this room, and I bring the whole arena down, blah blah blah, killing these guys, and you end up like playing music to a like a rock idol thing, and it like you summon this vehicle out of thin air that you is like your hot rod that you drive around this 3D world in. Uh I can't say enough good things about it. Again, very seamless. At the start, you he was about to say, and he's voiced by Jack Black, he was about to say, Oh, and about to lay into these guys and swear, and it came up and it went, Oh, do you want to hear the full raw uncensored uh brutal legend, or do you just want the do you just want the centered version? And I picked, like, yeah, the I want the full uncensored, and he ripped in, like, you and this, what are you doing? I was like, Oh, that's great. And I think there's another bit where someone was going to get their arms ripped out, and it just sort of stopped it and went, Do you want the full experience, or do you want the and I went full experience? And then he just cuts this like it like rips at me down.
SPEAKER_02I was like, oh my god.
SPEAKER_04It's all done in this cartoon style that yeah, like I say, I'm looking forward to getting back into that. Never played it before, it's definitely earned its spot in the collection. Whether I continue now or another day, I definitely will do. One last game I want to talk about very quickly. Um, I went back, well, it might have been during COVID times and played Dead Space 1 for the first time on PS3. Absolutely loved it, went in blind, avoided all the spoilers, played it on my own. Didn't really, I think talked about on the show briefly, but didn't spoil it for myself or anybody. Absolutely loved it. Was nervous to ever play Dead Space 2. I've had enough palette cleansers. Me and Rachel popped it on the other day. Oh mate, it's so good. Um I was nervous that he could never live up to it, but he did. Um so yeah, looking forward to playing that a little bit more. And the only other game that we've kind of been playing together is Tropico 6, which is basically anno, is basically City Skylines, but with all these sort of weird dictator tweaks on top. Yeah. Uh could I say it's Manu Crack? Maybe. Uh I just like watching my wife play it to be honest. Uh she's always trying to do right by people that I think the game just wants you to be horrible. I don't know. There's lots of benevolent things you can do, but it certainly seems a lot easier just to slap people in the asylum without uh trial and uh and get rid of them. But uh maybe that's just the way I play. I don't know. Maybe are you running? Has that enlightened you? Do you feel like I've like chased my demons away? Is there enough new and old in there for you?
SPEAKER_00I think it's a great mix. PS2, PS3, PS5. I mean, fantastic. Yeah, brilliant. I was quite interested in Psychonauts, has got me uh so I think I've got that, but I've never played it, and I think mmm that sounds quite interesting. Well, on the box, and same with Brutal Legend as well. I've always heard good things about the how many different game genres has got built into it as well, which is quite interesting, and yeah.
SPEAKER_04I think you'll like Brutal Legend. I enjoyed what I played, like I say, only not maybe half hour an hour, but there was enough in there for me to go, yeah, this deserves to be on the shelf, and I'll pull one of the ones that I thought deserved to be on the shelf off to replace that for it to go in the loft or the trade pile. I'm getting crazy RGT.
SPEAKER_00I'm feeling like it's nothing more cleansing than getting a rid of a load of stuff you don't need, believe me.
SPEAKER_04Took a big stack to CX not that long ago, didn't get any big money, it was just shelf fill of fodder, really. But we got enough to get what did we buy with the money? Oh, I bought Brutal Legend of Back to the Future, didn't I?
SPEAKER_00So I've done a similar thing. I I traded all mine and got the uncharted PS4 that I wanted for my display, and then the next time I traded in, I got the uh Last of Us Part 2 Pro console and got that in the other display.
SPEAKER_04So I feel like at my age now, I'm I feel on the right side of trades where I can use them to my benefit. When I was young, I felt always behind the foot with the trades. I felt like I was going in on bended knee a little bit with like me games and you know, looking at the game on the shelf that I wanted, knowing that I only had a limited amount in the bank account. Like, yeah, I maybe could buy it if I wanted to, but I really can't because I've got like I need to get the petrol to get home and ringing mum that's gonna bring Mumzy. Can you bring me a petty can of five quids worth of petrol to get me? George, it's the second day after your payday. Like, how are you gonna get to work for the next month? Um, that's tomorrow's problem.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I've got a bike.
SPEAKER_04So you're coming in with like 3D lemmings with a busted front, theme park for the snares with no box and a bag full of dreams, I guess. Uh, and I it was always a bit like, oh, is that it, Mister? You kind of because they're always bigger boys then as well. Uh, and even when I was, you know, the kids were young, I was going in and trading stuff to just get enough bunts to get something else or whatever, you're taking six games to come out with one and feel like a king. And now we're going in like just here's my floor scraping, said my thing says I don't want 10 anymore.
SPEAKER_00Oh, when I went in my local CX and I had like six, seven bags of games first time. The girl's face just dropped. She's looking at me from the country and she's like, Oh my god.
SPEAKER_04I think if you do bring in stuff like that, you are the lowest form of scum.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, luckily it was quiet. I weren't holding people up as quiet, and then they got three of mine and said, Come on in, and then we got talking about the the the podcast and stuff, so they said they were gonna listen. So yes, ended up traded uh traded people you call me a stalker. I mean No, I'm not a stalker, I just drop it in there every now and then. Yeah, I don't just hound. People online until you'll promise to stop handing them if they listen to your podcast.
SPEAKER_04Online, safe physical space, only ever words on a screen. Danger, danger. In real life, you forcibly dragging some young CEX worker across the counter.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you might have exaggerated that a bit there. I was just trading some games in. Which I might add got nearly£300 for.
SPEAKER_04BCSO Ross Kemp said to me that he was on a watch list. Really? He would say what one. But you're on one of 'em.
News Desk And Quick Corrections
SPEAKER_00Jaded's back. Here we go. Anyway, let's get on with this news. Do you want some news? Yes, I do. No. Alright, well we've scoured the.
SPEAKER_04Oh, no. I tell you what. Scoured. We've scoured the very darkish there's the new law. Uh better write that down, RGT. That's what this is someone. Oh, actually, community corrections before we go anywhere. I think I uh sawing an apology because I um obviously, because even when I finished recording the show, I looked at myself and thought, you don't know your toxic venger from your toxic commando, pal. Um and I just waffled a load of nonsense about it on the show a week ago with Scott. Um I'm gonna blame Scott because I think he should have discouraged me. I think he I think he I think he thinks he knows better, so I expected more.
SPEAKER_01Does that sound fair? Is that a bit harsh?
SPEAKER_00I mean it's not here to defend himself, so that's why I'm doing it. But then next time he's on, he'll be your best friend again.
SPEAKER_04Like I am now, so that's just how you roll and it was writ returns uh of all people as well. My god. Um apologize now. I said I'm sorry, uh and I'm saying sorry again, mum telling you off.
SPEAKER_00I said I'm sorry. I'm saying it again, Mum.
Seventh Guest And The PSVR2 Problem
SPEAKER_04That needs to be a soundbite. Anyway, now that's done. I thought we had more. I thought I had more guilty confessions or crimes, but I don't. Now that's done. We've scowed the very darkest regions of the internet to bring you the latest stories. First up, RGT. Yes, it's my great honour to announce that uh Push Square have wheeled in Stephen Tailby. That's right. He's got a story. I'll be honest, Stephen. I can't remember who decided you are tall, short, fat, or thin, pal, but uh uh coming in with this, I I think it's best we leave that unsaid. As PSVR2 fades into obscurity, VR Specialist reveals its first non-VR PSV PS PSV PSV title.
SPEAKER_02Right now, the PSVR2 is not quite.
SPEAKER_00We're professional, by the way.
SPEAKER_04Oh, we are. I am a professional, I pretend to be. Uh PSVR2 not required is the subtitle. Uh, so thank you for that, Stephen. Vertigo Games, a studio that made a name for itself within the virtual reality space, is dropping VR for its next release. The Seventh Guest remake has been announced in its regular PS5 version of the company's PSVR2 rendition of from 2023. I challenge anyone else to say this quickly. As far as we're aware, this thing marks the first time Vertico has not included virtual reality in any capacity in a game release, which is pretty interesting in itself, especially as whatever momentum VR had is coming to a fairly abrupt stop. It also claims like this an entirely separate release. There's no word on whether the owners of the VR game will be able to claim the non-VR version. The Seventh Guest remake is essentially a port of the VR game for flat displays, in case you don't know. It's also a remake of an iconic FMV mystery game from 1993. It features brand new FMV performance captured and a mansion full of puzzles to decipher. You explore the mission in first person and gradually open up new spaces as you solve puzzles and gather more of the story. They say they actually quite like the PSVR2 version. I do think it reviewed quite well. And at the time it was apparently held back by a number of bugs. If the new version arrives with a higher degree of polish, this would definitely be worth revisiting. I ask you, RGT, are you interested in the seventh guest remake coming to PS5? Or are you as numb as my bottom lip when the dentist slipped and gave me the full needle's worth?
SPEAKER_00Um interesting, I'd say. Um I've never played it originally.
SPEAKER_04Um but there is something about these sort of puzzle games and Can I say I think Seventh Guest was always that game that was in the back, was kind of something you saw on I don't know, bad influence or something, and just thought, like, wow, is this what games can be? But always thought it might be that kind of just out of reach CD system that could never be yours, like the 3DO or whatnot.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_04Kind of has this for me, it's got this almost mythical status, and I've never even played it.
SPEAKER_00Oh right. Yeah, well I've recognise the name, but I don't recognise the genre of the game. But yeah, it's inter I mean, probably by the sounds of it, it's perfect for VR, isn't it?
SPEAKER_04You know, as when I this was announced originally, I think we talked about it when it was announced for VR in the news, um, in the dim and distant past now. I did think, and I think I said, this feels to me like a really great fit for what it can be. And for all intents and purposes it reviewed really well. It's just that VR still feels a bit dead.
SPEAKER_00And yeah, and the problem is, especially with PSVR too, I mean uh Sony never even mentions the occasional game or flash up on the state of play, but other than that, you know, these devs now are thinking it's probably even more of a risk now to go onto VR than it was with the PSVR original, you know. That was a good one. Oh, I totally agree.
SPEAKER_04I think you know, and they're all sort of the VR1 was high, the attach rate of the VR2 is woefully low. Look, I jumped on I didn't even know that this was coming in in the news, and I know we always use these articles as a myth as a way to talk about some of it in a broader way. I was on the VR2 store yesterday just to see what's going on. There's a lot of just announced stuff. There's a lot of tat. There is a lot of tat. I flipped it so you can list these things by time of release so you can have your new games at the top or flip it so you have the old games that came out of launch pretty much at the top, and you can work down. And I was looking through, and there has been like steady kind of second party releases all the way through the VR2's lifetime, but just no one cares. And these games have individually reviewed, it and again, this is a classic UCP statement, they've been getting sevens and eights, you know, there's no nines, don't get me wrong. But you got Arizona Sunshine 2, Arizona Sunshine remake, you've got some really great stuff, but I see games like Cairn.
SPEAKER_00You haven't we haven't been told about it. There's no advertising, there's no, as far as I know, I haven't apart from the odd one that's come up in a state of play. Oh, I haven't seen any advertising for any PSVR 2 games. I wouldn't know anything about them.
SPEAKER_04I agree, and there's games like Cannes that feel like an absolute misstep for being like the ultimate VR experience, almost you know, Horizon Call of the Month was a good idea, but it just didn't work. It was basically just climbing a ladder, no matter how difficult it felt. Cann wouldn't feel like that. Can would feel like I'm gripping for these individual rock crevices and I'm having to cram my body in to get up here? It would have been incredible in VR, not a sniff. And there's lots of games that you're in a fixed six fixed seated position for farming sim. How easy would it be just to bang that in there? Now they did this half-baked one where you kind of like play a Mickey Mouse kind of mobile version for VR. Who wants that? Who asked for that?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I suppose I suppose if you just put it in first person mode, is that quite easy to translate into VR?
SPEAKER_04So you people say, oh no, it's not, but I'm saying, well, it would be a hell of a lot easier than redesigning it from the ground up, you know, just Gran Turismo. If you play that in VR, you would if and if you're mildly into Grand Turismo, you've got a PS5, maybe got a wheel. If you tried VR, you would go and buy one for that game alone.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I guarantee. I played the Grand Turismo Sport I played when I had my rig, um, and it was phenomenal experience.
SPEAKER_04Let me tell you now, mate, night and flipping day.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah, oh yeah, I agree, but I'm saying that's how good it was then.
SPEAKER_04Now it's something else.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, oh yeah.
SPEAKER_04And it's next to No Man's Sky. I mean, if you've got No Man's Sky and PSVR too, I think you probably don't need another game. If you've got Grand Turismo, you don't need another game. If you get this flying flying simulated VR that they're bringing out, you don't need another game, I suppose. But yeah, it feels woefully unsupported. People moving away from it. A lot of these studios that are built around VR have had to bring out flat screen versions. As I was going through there yesterday, I noticed that the Doctor Who game was still listed on VR, but they've had to bring both of those versions flat screen to try and remunerate in some way.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's that's the thing now. You know, we're saying they should be doing more VR games, but why are they gonna risk that now when is anyone playing PSVR?
SPEAKER_04For me, I think VR is attachment rate with not good. I think the Oculus has done well, I think that's in a lot of homes, and I I do see it being a usable bit of kit, but my problem, I think, that's not been solved with all of VR, and VR1 felt like, oh, a bit of a compromise, I'm using the move ones, I've got this thing on my AIDA, okay. VR2, no compromise. But what you're lacking is the physicality of the real world. You're fighting with ghosts, you're walking through you're walking through walls that you shouldn't be able to, as if they're glass or or sheets, you can't touch anything, you haven't got that physicality, you don't feel in you feel in the world, but you don't feel part of the world, so you might as well just be doing it on a flat screen, and I think that's a conclusion I've come to. When it's right and you're in the right place in the right environment, and the game's right, like kayak, like VR, like No Man's Sky to some degree, it's it's perfect.
SPEAKER_00They almost need to be ground-up games made for the PSVR2, with the odd exception like No Man's Sky, which fits it well.
SPEAKER_04And I also think they need to be almost fully the games that work the best, kayak. You are sat down, you can't move your legs, so your brain accepts it. And by jolly, it's a hell of a lot real more realistic for that reason. Gran Turismo, you sat down in a car, no matter what happens to that car, you do not move out your chair. That grounds you in that experience so much more. If you do it with a wheel, honestly, you're there. Yeah, because you have that physical touch with the physical thing that you are physically experiencing it simultaneously at the same time in your hands and on the screen, it is a game changer. And I think the same for that flight simulator. I think I've heard rumblings that they're actually trying to get you to be able to physically interact with with the buttons with the move with the VR controllers, which would be incredible. And in No Man's Sky, you do actually can actually fly, but I think there would have to be some sort of sacrifice to the realism to get off the ground because No Man's Sky, you are flying using a yoke stick and whatnot, but the there are so many liberties to enable you to get away with blue murder in that with the VR fly.
SPEAKER_00There are I think the problem is these devs who make the VR games want this boost reassurance, they want some investment from Sony to say, yep, let's give it a second wave, let's back it. They're not getting that, so now they're hesitant to make anything for the PSVR 2 with such a low attachment rate. So you're in a vicious circle. You know, if Sony suddenly went round to all these VR studios and said, Right, let's let's just go for this. Come on, let's get some games made. This grid will give it a push. I think they probably would, but they're not. And I think this all comes back to yeah, it's like this live server stuff. This all everything got pushed to one side for these live servers. PS VR2 just they give it a big boost, got it released, and then done. It's just done.
SPEAKER_04I felt proper mugged off to be fair, because the release push was actually strong, yeah, and I had a similar feeling to Kinect. VR2 was almost like my connect for PS5, and I it was I've I've been kind of bouncing off the ecosystem since. I don't I'm not particularly attracted to any other. Nintendo has been a soft landing place, I guess, but I'm about done with that now, so let's get back on the PS5. I just the VR2 is not part of that at all. Such a shame, such a shame. It is. Uh it went up. Uh my old boy was like, Can I have going on? He's got a PS5 in his room. Um, yeah, get the VR2 out. Yeah, crack on, mate. Yeah. I think he played job simulator for half hour, poof, went up again, it's back in the box. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Go figure.
Project Helix And Xbox Identity Crisis
SPEAKER_04So yeah, bit of a shame. Nice that they're being able to pivot to flat screen. What's this next bit of news, RGT? This is big news. This is heavy here. This is you out with uh this is Fraser Gilbert out with uh pork pie on a pressing his hat, but yeah, I'll just pretend I am.
SPEAKER_00Um this is pure Xbox, as you said, Fraser Gilbert. Um interest in this. Uh, Xbox reveals new details on Project Helix next gen console. Says devs will get uh devs will get it in 2027. So yeah, not quite as early as what people were thinking, because if the devs ain't got it yet, you aren't gonna be getting any games for a little while, so it's gonna be a little bit later than we thought, but very interesting news. Um Fraser goes on to say following the announcement of Xbox's Project Helix console a few days ago, we've been treated to our first concrete details on the next gen device, uh, and that is today as part of GDC 2026, including when developers will get their hands on it. As we know, Project Helix will support both console and PC games, um, and the team also says it will deliver leading performance and usher in the next generation of console gaming. Here's a bit more on how it is set to improve on the Xbox Series X and Series S. Um, as part of our multi uh multi-year partnership with AMD, we are shaping the future of rendering and simulation. Project Helix is powered by a custom AMD SOC and co-designed for the next generation of Direct X and FSR to unlock what comes next. It delivers an order of magnitude leap in ray tracing performance and capability, integrates intelligence directly into the graphics and compute pipeline and drives meaningful gains in efficiency, scale and visual ambition. The result is more realistic, immersive, and dynamic worlds for players. It's now been confirmed that an alpha version of the Next Gen project Helix hardware will be shipped to developers in 2027, but there's no word on whether that that's early or late in the year. So who knows if a 2027 release date is still possible for the public launch of the console. Beyond this, there are plans to make the Xbox experience consistent across screens, which started with the Rogue Ally X. Uh no, sorry, the Rogue Xbox Ally launch last year, which will expand with the rollout of Xbox mode on Windows 11 in April 2026, which will let players seamlessly switch between uh productivity and play.
SPEAKER_04Not on my laptop, I bet you.
SPEAKER_00Eight frames a second, with a familiar full screen and controller optimised Xbox experience while embracing the openness of Windows. We assume, but it's not stated, that the next Xbox console is also being built around this consistent interface across multiple devices. After debuting an early version with the Rogue Xbox Ally handhelds, today I'm excited to share that we are bringing the same innovation of Windows 11 with Xbox mode that brings rolling out in that begins rolling out in April. Starting with the uh starting with select markets, Xbox mode lets players seamlessly switch between productivity and play with a familiar full screen and controller optimised Xbox experience while embracing the openness of Windows. More details on Project Helix are apparently going to be shared later this year, but as a final note, it's also mentioned that Xbox Backwards compatibility is being revived for the 25th anniversary, featuring new ways to play some of the most iconic games from our past. We cover this in more detail elsewhere on Pure Xbox. Interesting. Um this I think calling this a console is probably a bit of a stretch. This is very much sort of a game and PC, I would say, from reading that.
SPEAKER_04To that end, I see it being completely irrelevant that they are that the games won't come when they say they're gonna come because why would you need a why do you need the dev kit to make it?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and also you're still selling a console while trying to sell everything's an Xbox. This almost sounds like Microsoft designed this, not Xbox designed this. This sounds like they've sort of taken the reins a bit now and said, right, we need a Windows machine, we need a bit of a more of a PC, we need everyone playing, but don't necessarily need a console, we need to get some money in. Let's go for it. Um, it's interesting.
SPEAKER_04I mean, there's still a lot of rumours it's going to play Steam as well, which is very PC like, um which may have had the effect, and I'm glad that they've finally woken up to this glaringly obvious fact. Putting your games day and date on Steam could be a bit of a boo-boo if the next Xbox is able to play uh Steam.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_04They're not exclusive anymore, are they?
SPEAKER_00No, exactly. So it's they still seem as though um I know there've been a lot of changes at the helm there, but they still seem not there chucking things out to see what sticks at the moment.
SPEAKER_04There's don't seem to be no the problem they've got, I feel it's a problem of a lot of companies post-COVID is if I had that many direction changes and still committed to every single one that they've made, that this is the end result. Every single wave's hitting the beach right now. Uh they're committed to Xbox Helix. Their exclusives are exclusives until they're not exclusive, now they're not exclusives. But apparently the plan's a plan until it's not the plan, but we might be bringing exclusives back. We're not doing an X Xbox, actually, we are Project Helix, it's all this singing, all dancing, all this great stuff. But don't worry, because when you meant to be in a meeting on Zoom, you can just flip your screen over and be playing Halo and then flick back and do an XL spreadsheet, and it's all cool. Do you know what? I would love that. There's no corporation that's gonna let you do that. That's gonna be lockdown. You can't you can't even play solitaire guys, let's face it. Right? It's a no-go. So that's gonna be a definite flat no. So that's not getting on half of those laptops. The enterprise editions are the ones I'm talking about, and if you know, you know.
SPEAKER_00Um and the thing is as well, you're you're not you're not PC gaming as such, you're a console developer, you know, creator, developer, you make your own games. So this definitely whiffs of Microsoft has got involved in this because I don't know why you'd I mean, okay, PS3 dabbled with Linux back in the day, but that went nowhere. Why do you want to cross them over? You know, you'd keep keep Xbox as a game and console side to the business.
SPEAKER_04So is that the route to being able to play PC games? It is, isn't it? So you need to be able to have that cross-connectivity for that reason. I I think and I do believe it it probably is a more um maybe console-centric version of it uh to enable, but you know, all of a sudden, if that's what you want to do, you've really got a keyboard, haven't you? You've got to have a keyboard, and you've got to have a mouse. And if you're staring down the barrel of the gun with all these RAM increases, this, that, and the other, Xbox just basically told me to get PC.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. It's it's like they're trying so many different things.
SPEAKER_04They they try By the way, let's reframe this. I'm excited that Project Telix is announced. I'm excited that they're having another go at it. I'm excited that Sony are going to be kept honest at least for another generation in some way, shape, or something.
SPEAKER_00Without a doubt. They need to be kept on their toes.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, but the only people that they've ever considered competition, to be fair.
SPEAKER_00My biggest fear was that Xbox had pull a plug and then you just got Sony saying, right, markets are well for that side anyway.
SPEAKER_04Um but this feels like you try I see the landscape a bit different. I think they've I although they don't show it, because I don't think corporate Sony ever would, I think is you think they're on the back foot and you think the gamers have managed to get the point across that we don't want exclusives, but they don't care. They make more money. Like and this this stat is a little concerned. To me, that they've made more money this gen. We've heard all the talk about how hard it's been and COVID and blah blah blah. And you know what with the portal and the VR2 and the earbuds and the headsets and all the other ammo, no doubt, they've made more money this gen than all of the gens combined. That's crazy. Are you kidding me?
SPEAKER_00That's crazy, yeah.
SPEAKER_04I that boggles the mind because we know PST was like a big time. Now, I don't think that's necessarily inflation adjusted. I think maybe if it was, it might be a different story. I don't know, but that's that in itself is incredible.
SPEAKER_00They and the thing is as well, the amount of times I've heard from other people, um, we've heard it from people in our Discord to people on Instagram or people of friends I talk to. Oh, exclusives are bad for gaming. And I'm like, no, no, not not at all. I I'm I'm so glad exclusives are back. I'm so glad that people have their own games. It either makes you want to buy that console or you get in the ecosystem or you love what they're doing. It's I I don't see why it's bad for gaming. It sells systems, it sells systems, it's what it does, you know.
SPEAKER_04And I feel I a part of me feels that they've they've already kind of won the battle with someone like me or you. We've got that much money's worth of digital games and free games and things that they're giving us that we kind of can't leave in a way, yeah. And I think the battle now is for the kids, and I do feel a bit left out in that sometimes.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, maybe, yeah. But I think a lot of saying before, I think Xbox almost seemed to like they've tried to take Sony on, they tried to do a game's pass that wasn't working. Then they sort of done this handheld to see where that would sort of sit with the rogue ally, and I don't think the sales have been amazing, but I think they've done a few, so it's almost like they were going for Nintendo. Now they seem to be going, let's just try and keep our own niche, let's do a bit like Nintendo done. Let's try and go something a bit different. So we're not a Sony, we're not a Nintendo, we're we're a sort of a PC, but we're a console, but we do this, we do that. It's almost like they're trying to go their own way.
SPEAKER_04The thing is, they can't have quite a successful niche, and I know you saw this as being like all the young kids had Xboxes.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, yeah, without a doubt. Every all the kids did, even my daughter did. She had a 360 from the get-go.
SPEAKER_04Absolutely packed and stacked from birth to 15, maybe, Xbox centric. Ha, bang, drinks bottle, everything.
SPEAKER_00And the thing was, when she was that age, the the PS3 was seen as what the adults had, it looked like that media centered. It was a classy thing, this you know, their interface was more classy. They all wanted Xbox. That's why you played Minecraft, you know.
SPEAKER_04That's what I think they brought home like a large young sort of audience at the time, but then they've they've lost them.
SPEAKER_00They have lost them.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, the Xbox One was a disaster, and but that was an audience that was gonna make them massive in what 15 years' time? No one's got any patience anymore. Like they were they had grown a nice little scene around Sea of Thieves, grounded, yeah. They were building games that were building in an audience that was gonna provide them with players uh that would build an ecosystem. You can come and see them trying. Minecraft.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, she went over to PC, played Minecraft on there. Um she still is on PC, but a lot of my friends' kids who are all about the same age, they're Xbox 360, they went Xbox One, um, they were quite disappointed, but they stuck with it because they all had their gamer tanks, they all played on, they went and carried on playing on the shooters and bits and pieces. They got to the next series, Series X, and I would say 95% of them have traded in and got PS5s because as they got older, the games they wanted to play were more the Sony games, not the Xbox games. They wanted to play Ghost of Tsushima, they wanted to play Spider-Man, they wanted to play, and they they got they were all quite despondent with the Series X, Series S. They traded in and went with with Sony, which I never thought they would, they'd been in that ecosystem their whole lives. No, so and but they've they've jumped across. Um, and it's it's strange because they haven't sort of developed with the age group as they've got older. You think they would you know keep a track on their biggest?
SPEAKER_04Oh, I suppose they probably didn't feel their need to because they were in the ecosystem in games like Halo um Fortnite and then maybe Warzone and GTA 5 were kind of keeping them there, like you said, just for the game attack.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and also the thing was, you know, I suppose they expected them to be in Games Pass and they'd clip in. Not many of them are in Games Pass, not many of them use Games Pass. They played two or three games, they had no interest in Games Pass. But as they got older and they'd played them games and thought, Ag on, we can play them Call of Duties on the PlayStation, we could play GTA 5 online on the PlayStation. Plus, now they're getting to late teens, early 20s. I want to play Last of Us, I want to play Uncharted, I want to play Spider-Man, you know, and then suddenly don't want to play Gears of War, don't you want to play Halo, don't you want to play? They played Halo, they played Gears of War, played on the 360. You know, and that's and and you know, I'm not I'm not just saying that the sort of fanboy or anything, but they they have gone across, you know.
SPEAKER_04I've seen I don't know, I've seen the similar myself, and I I I think it a shame. I think they had a really good thing going on.
SPEAKER_00I think you're bang on. I think they did. I mean, the 360 had such an audience and done things so right.
SPEAKER_04Um I think they I think that I actually think the plan really kicked in probably back end of Xbox One into Xbox Series S. Like they actually managed to a lot of kids who were just getting the Xbox and the Series S predominantly was a stroke of genius, really.
SPEAKER_00Uh definitely at the start of the uh of the generation, definitely, but ended up being a bit of a shoehorn in the end.
SPEAKER_04But but well, they've transiented away now. Um I don't know, it's a strange time to be honest.
SPEAKER_00I hope, yeah, I'm hoping this Project Helix is is different enough to make them stand out from everyone else. I'm hoping it's successful enough that people are gonna want to buy it and be interested in it.
SPEAKER_04I think it's a stake in the ground and enough of a i if Xbox are nothing else, they're a massive disruptor in the industry, and they certainly make you have to sort of to definitely keep Sony ice by putting a steam machine in it, basically.
SPEAKER_00Exactly, yeah. And I mean the rumors are that it is gonna be very expensive, which is gonna be a bit of a sort of executive gamer sort of machine, but I think as I've said many times, if you're gonna go down that route, ship it in marble.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah, I mean it. Yeah, you know, ship this thing as a piece of object doll, have it in in marble, encased between two pieces of metal and have the the piece of have it looking beautiful, have it not looking like a console. If you're gonna charge someone 1200 quid for a console, make it look like nothing else you've ever seen on earth, make it look so aesthetically beautiful. Don't build out of plastic, don't just suspect me like that. Yeah, build this thing out of solid metal, so marble.
SPEAKER_00I think it's very interesting. Uh be interesting to see what comes out from it. And I'm like you say, I'm just glad they're building another system and at least for another generation. So is there a generation's name? I don't know. Is this gonna be part of a generation? Is this a PC? Everything's a bit weird at the moment, and Nintendo are always half gen, so it's all a bit strange, but yeah, interesting to see.
SPEAKER_04They're locked Nintendo locked into having to make hardware for the rest of forever if they can make remain committed to what they're doing. I don't think that's a bad thing. I think there's gonna be an upper limit where they never have to produce another console again because everyone else has tapped out, it's all streaming cloud drivel. Um they'll be the last people to get there, I guess, but uh it is what it is. Uh bit of ninety news to finish with, if I may. Um are you ready?
SPEAKER_00Oh god, yeah.
Nintendo Tariffs Lawsuit Fallout
SPEAKER_04Simmer down. Sorry. No, it's all right. Gotta be a fizz. Yeah. Here we go. Go to see a push square and Ollie Reynolds, a man who by day is a reporter for Push Square. By night, he runs a successful driving school. Does he really? Yeah. Called Ollie's Learners down in Bournemouth.
SPEAKER_00I didn't realise that was him.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, it's him.
SPEAKER_00No way. That's a big school, that is.
SPEAKER_04Oh, big time. Well it's just him in a in a metro, uh, GSI.
SPEAKER_00He's still rocking the metro.
SPEAKER_04Good lad, good lad. Oh, listen, this thing's concourse, if I'm being honest. You crawl underneath it, chassis immaculate.
SPEAKER_00Oh, he had it all um powder coated and everything, is he?
SPEAKER_04And look, considering he had the He-Man dual controls in there, and when he first got the car, he pressed the brake and the bulkhead separated, and he ended up like driving around with the learner in it, like that, like James Bond in that Reno 11. Wow in Paris, living daylights. He rebuilt the car, solid now, got in the He-Man controls. He can stamp down on brake and clutch, no issue. He's got full control, car stays as one.
SPEAKER_00Fair play, Oli. Fair play.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. So he dodged a lawsuit there. Here's someone else who's dodging a pause on the lawsuit. US government. Nintendo's lawsuit. And I tell you what, they've got some balls. Nintendo's lawsuit against the US government is automatically paused, pending on results of another tariff case. Uh, there's an update, but we'll do the original story first. Here you go. Nintendo of America is suing the US government, including Department of Treasury, Department of Homeland Security, and US Customs and Border Control over tariffs implemented in 2025 via executive order from President Donald Trump. Hello, Switch. It's probably the greatest counsel. It's the finest counsel. I love him. He's a meme lord. As far as I concern, you could give him up all day. As reported by Aftermath, the complaint concerns the inflation administration on lawful trade measures that have to date resulted in the collection of more than 200 billion in tariffs on imports from nearly all countries. Nintendo believes that the tariffs set via the IEEEPA, the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, have caused it to suffer imminent and irreparable harm for the entries it has paid. Just last month, the US Supreme Court struck down Trump's tariffs and deemed them to be illegal, citing their use under an act meant for national emergencies. The complaint then states all tariffs collected under IEEE PA duties must be refunded with interest. Wow. Nintendo joins a host of other companies, including FedEx, Costco, Revlon, in attempting to re What do Revlon do?
SPEAKER_00It's hair products. I think it's a different one. I think they're like the sort of the the black horse, aren't they? Like big financial thing. What Revlon? I thought they made shampoo. I think they used to.
SPEAKER_04I don't know what's happening anymore. It attempted to recoup the cost from tariffs with a federal judge in New York recently ruling that companies would be entitled to refunds following the decision of the Supreme Court. Nintendo's business was impacted significantly by the tariffs introduced in 2025. Not only was it forced to delay pre-orders for the highly anticipated Switch 2 in the US and Canada, but it also raised the price of the Switch 1, along with several key accessories. Cost of a Switch OLED went up by 50 bucks, and the standard model by 40 bucks, and the Switchlight by 30 bucks. Nintendo has confirmed the complaint to Aftermath, but has stated that there's nothing else to share in this topic. We have reached out for further clarification. But there's an update. Breaking news. Is that a Court of International Trade? What are you on about? A sit to the Supreme Court. It's in December. A judge deemed all cases relating to the IEEPA, which by the way, to me sounds like a vegan pale ale. Tariffs would be automatically stayed until the CIT's sit case has been resolved. So it would seem that just in this one of these cases, it's likely the Nintendo lawsuit will resume in some fashion at a later date. But we'll keep an eye on it and let you know of any changes. I find that hilarious. Obviously, Nintendo, oh no, actually hilarious is the wrong word. Because people are impacted by it. George, have some empathy. Somewhere there's a kid in Mississippi somewhere who thought he had enough money for a switch light and then found out because of terrorists. He didn't. That sucks. Nintendo going head to head with a Trumpmeister in the courts. I'd love to see that. Yeah, I think you're on a Tim Dresser's Bowser in an AI image, all over the internet, in the build-up, brushing Mario.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's I mean, like I say, you want to hide into nothing. You're gonna get nowhere.
SPEAKER_04You can't see the people who want the biggest financial I can see I can see tariffs being stopped or paused or renegotiated for the whole of Japan. I can, which would have a positive effect on Nintendo, presumably, unless they're building them somewhere else. You wouldn't build them in China though, would you? No, you wouldn't. I bet you would. Okay, well that's gonna need a little bit more negotiation, so I don't quite know what Nintendo are coming in and arguing for, but you know, whatever you need, guys. I don't I see the tariffs being paused or stopped, or maybe for their particular chain being maybe paused for a period of time. I do not see them getting the money back with interest. I'd tell you that now.
SPEAKER_00Not a hope. Not a hope. I mean, this is the tariffs have affected a lot of people. I mean, I know businesses through my work that sold abroad to America and have now do not sell a single thing, not a ditto to America because of the tariffs. Um, and I don't really think that Trump really cares about that. Um it's uh it's the big businesses you know that are doing billions, that's where he'll get the tariffs money from, and that's where they'll earn. If all these small businesses go under, doesn't really matter. He's a capitalist at the end of the day, and that's not you know, you're just pushed to the side. And yeah, I've seen that from that front. So I think trying to get recouped on your losses is you ain't got a hope. Like you say, they may be renegotiated, they may be paused, but that ain't gonna happen, you know, because if he does it to one, he'll do it to he'll have to do it to them all, and he and he isn't gonna do that.
SPEAKER_04I can see a trade negotiation with Japan where uh an argument to soften tariffs or remove tariffs on electronic goods per se. Those goods aren't being manufactured there, are they?
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_04No, no, so this is what really complicates the issue. They're coming in saying, Oh, you're hurting us as a Japanese company, no, we're we we're hurting you for getting things built in China, building yourself. Oh, we can't afford to. We've all got a problem with this. The whole world has a problem with this.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, when a lot of American companies get their stuff built abroad as well. Oh, exactly that. Which is which is a lot of the problem. Like one of the companies that um I know through work, um they would you know they were doing quite a few thousand pounds a month in America, but the reason since the tariffs in they don't do any is because they would ship the stuff over, it goes in a hold and warehouse at UPS, and then the company that is um ordered it has to go and collect and pay£100 to release it as part of the tariff charges. Where they've said, well, we can't do that, it's no point us paying£100 for each parcel to release it, and that's it, gone. The whole trade's gone. Um, and they've had to divert diversify now and do something a bit different in the UK and Europe to counteract the loss of earnings. So it's yeah, it's it's it's crazy, and I can't see in the long run. Look, well, then again, I'm repeating myself, but it's probably because it's the big businesses that will pay the tariffs where he's going to be making the billions, and anyone who's not that big or is trading smaller, and you know, who cares? As far as he's concerned, who cares, you know?
SPEAKER_04Well, they've swept up some good revenue off the back of it, which maybe, maybe not, they'll use in a positive way. Um I doubt it. The thing is, no matter how you cook the books, really, it's unfortunately in the world that we live in, companies do not shoulder any extra costs. They get split up by however many products they sell and added on to the price. So the people that are actually paying the tariffs are the people that are buying the goods. Exactly. And that's a bit of a shame. Yep.
unknownYep.
SPEAKER_04It would be a more productive tariff if they couldn't remunerate through the product, but you can't dictate RRP. So it's a tough one.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's it is tough. Fair play to Nintendo for giving it a go, but I think you're probably you're you're fighting a losing battle. You you're you're not gonna get anywhere. I suppose it's given it's he's saying to gamers, we care, we're trying to fight it. So on that front, I suppose that's a good image to have.
SPEAKER_04But other than that, it's a good image to have, and I think it they're a high profile enough company for Donald to notice and and realise the significance of it, yeah. And potentially, you know, could be offered up in some sort of barter exchange. I think Nintendo andor Sony could sort of couple together a bit of a trade lobby or envoy to say, okay, to Japan, you need to take a hit on the cars a little bit because we actually represent a lot lot more than that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_04But I also think that the easy win would be for them to bring more of the production in home a bit.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Then you're not, you know, if you do negotiate a deal for yourself, is a deal that actually works for your product. Because you could do a great deal for yourself, not ship a product from your a single product from a warehouse in the country of origin.
SPEAKER_00Be slightly it's you know, and then but then the country you're taking the manufacturing out of is then losing. So if there's no winner in all this at all, is there's no winner.
SPEAKER_03There's a winner somewhere.
SPEAKER_00Well, actually, no, there is a winner. Chain. No, he's uh it's gonna be Trump, but uh do you know what I mean? He's it's gonna be Trump. He's the only one winning out of all this, you know, so Time for some housekeeping?
SPEAKER_04Should we sweep this last bit of news under the rug like a dirty secret you left out on the floor the other night?
SPEAKER_00I think so, yeah, why not?
SPEAKER_04Do you know what that dirty secret is?
SPEAKER_00What?
SPEAKER_04Okay, I won't say. But I would say it's ten percent criminal.
SPEAKER_00Involves me again, I suppose. Yes.
SPEAKER_04Which is a lovely man.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Calm down, Trump.
SPEAKER_02He's a great guy.
Discord Website And Flashback Plug
SPEAKER_04I wouldn't say the greatest. What now? Oh, let's do the housekeeping because if we've said anything that you agree or disagree with, that's great. Well, let us know. Uh you could tell us at questions at unofficialcontrollerpodcast.com. You can track us down on probably Twitter or Instagram, and you message us on there if you want to. Or you could hop over to our Discord, I'd say, join that. There's links in the link tree, or if you're struggling with that for whatever reason, message the show at questions on official control podcast.com or get us on Twitter or Instagram, whichever is your fancy, and we'll hook you up there. Story continues over on the Discord RGT. There's quizzes, no hassle, no stress. Um, there's whatever you want to do, pictures of your pets. There's talk about Downton Abbey. Um, the there's talk about my life other than games. And obviously, yes.
SPEAKER_00It's the thing I like as well. Let's don't feel like when you come on there, we're gonna be saying, right, you need to do this quiz, you need to play this game. You need there, there's sections for it. If you want to join in, jump on, play if you want to join in a Gen 7 playthrough, play the game, have a little chat about it. If you don't, don't simple as that. We don't change you and say you've got to do it. The quiz is on there. If you want to do it, you can just go through on your own, you can have a go, you don't need to mention it, but it's all just there in case you want it. That's the thing.
SPEAKER_03It's a very active Discord, but there's a lot of four years on there, just in the background, watching. Just watching. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04I'm cool with that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_04There's also many people that listen to the show. They don't comment on Insta or do anything with the X or get in the Discord. They're just voyeurs. They're just watching it. They're just they maybe even on the YouTube now, maybe got into this whole video thing of two grown men talk about kids' toys on the internet.
SPEAKER_03And they're like, Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I'm into this. I'm a great salesman. Do you know that?
SPEAKER_00Like Evan.
SPEAKER_04Anyway, they hang in the background. That's fine. I don't mind being watched. Do you mind being watched and not spoken to? No, I like it. Outside of that world, do you oh okay. No, I don't mind. Yeah, good. Okay, I'm cool with it as well. So welcome to all the all the watches. We like you. Um, but get involved if you want. Reach out, um, throw it at us. Um, tribute pick in the post. RGT, we also have an awesome website. Tell me about that.
SPEAKER_00Yes, unofficial controller podcast.com. Um, go over and check that out. Um, Captain has done a wonderful job building our website, and we have everything from the challenge accepted winners and a list on there. We have um hidden gems, we have, and we've now started doing I say we Captain has started doing um our uh events we've been going to. So there'll be galleries on there of when we went to Bristol. We're doing OLL 26 next month, so that will be on there as well.
SPEAKER_04Holy moly! Do I need to book holiday?
SPEAKER_00I would be doing it now if I was you. Um it's less than a month now as of recording. So um, interesting.
SPEAKER_04Um, so um I need to book a Saturday off.
SPEAKER_00Huh?
SPEAKER_04What day is it on?
SPEAKER_00Saturday. You don't work Saturdays, you'll be alright.
SPEAKER_04Um setting up on a Friday.
SPEAKER_00Sorry?
SPEAKER_04Are we setting up on a Friday?
SPEAKER_00Uh I'm not sure yet. But I'll find out. Um but yeah, go check the website out. Like I say, catch up with anything like that. Um it's a very good little site, um, very well made, and we're very pleased with it, and we'd love you to check it out. And if you're in the Discord and you haven't checked it, check the website and let us know. Let us know in the in the Discord what you think. Think you know, if there's anything you think we should add, if there's anything you'd like, just let us know. So it's nice so we can tune it to what you want. Um but yeah, it's it's very good. So are you going to speak or you know dead air is bad, you know.
SPEAKER_04I know, I know, I know dead air's bad. I just I tell you why, because I want to speak my mind. For some reason, I felt like the song Tell Her About It just came into my mind, and I just was a little bit like tell her about it, tell her I'm starting to think psychonauts is like looking into your brain. Hey, I don't think you need to do that. I don't think you need to be prying in there.
SPEAKER_00I would not want to go in there. My god, I would not want to go in there.
SPEAKER_04You wouldn't survive two seconds.
SPEAKER_00I would not, that'd be it. I'd want to end it, I think.
SPEAKER_04Oh I've said some things I would never say anything like that.
SPEAKER_00I'll be honest, I wouldn't want to go in there. I mean, for what actually comes out of the mouth paper pipe. The mouth pipe is just a small section of what probably goes in in that.
SPEAKER_04There's so many things I don't say.
SPEAKER_00I know, I know. And that's the scary bit. Because I talk to you off air when you do say. So it's it's fair, yeah, it's it's a good place for to stay.
SPEAKER_04I was so traumatizing.
SPEAKER_00Oof, uh, yeah, yeah, you are.
SPEAKER_04I mean scrub up all right for TV.
SPEAKER_00I I have a half-hour conversation with you on the phone, and when I come away from it, that's a lot of just had a night at Dreamscape in about 91. Wow. You're 12. It's a trip. It's a trip. 12. No, I was a lot older than that. Um, it's a trip, put it that way. 12.
SPEAKER_02What were you doing at Dreamscape at 12? 12. How much do you do the math? Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_04Do the math. What year was it?
SPEAKER_0096.
SPEAKER_02No, you said 92.
SPEAKER_00Alright, I just I was a bit early on that, yeah. It'd have been about 96, 97.
SPEAKER_04So let's do it, people. Where's my calculator? Because I can't do that, so I can't even find the app. So this is TV for you.
SPEAKER_00I was born born in 71. There you go. Were you? 2020, there you go. See?
SPEAKER_02You were 13. What were you doing at Dreamscape?
SPEAKER_00I was in my fifth year as well, so fifth year at Dreamscape. Didn't miss a year. Wow.
SPEAKER_04Dreamscape was not a safe place for a 13-year-old in 1992. I could tell you that now. You would have worn that there. You're classy than that.
SPEAKER_00Haced hay, smiley face on the back. So we rolled. Oh. Just had to make sure I got back from my paper hand. That's how you raved.
SPEAKER_04Oh dear. Okay. Anyway, on that note. No, we've got more housekeeping.
SPEAKER_00I know. Oh no.
SPEAKER_04Flashy B. Mm-hmm. Taking off extremely well. So go check that out on Facebook. Facebook? I don't know why I said that.
SPEAKER_00I was thinking, have you set one? I haven't set one up on Facebook. She do you see what I mean? Just one mention of his brain.
SPEAKER_04Terrifying is. In my brain, in the pre-arranged of the words as they came out, I could have sworn I said YouTube, but I definitely heard Facebook, and I was like, well, Facebook or UBook or Yeah. Well, go check it out if it's on there. I mean, I'm I don't know what that's all about. Someone set us one up, please.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So if you haven't heard our other show as Flashback, which is similar to this, but it's a bit of a uh look back at a random year of a random month of a random year in gaming, bit of news, bit of what we would have been playing. Um, yeah, we're we're enjoying doing those, really are. So yeah, please go and give it a download and a like and a review if you could, and uh yeah, it's uh good. It comes out every Tuesday. This week was a bit late, my fault, but yeah, it'll be out every Tuesday. So we've even done a little chart rundown this week.
SPEAKER_04So did you get the music in?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, it works quite well actually. That's what I was quite pleased with that. Smash it nicely, yeah. In at 19 down from eight. Super.
SPEAKER_04Awesome. Well, I wanted you to go to before I made a several Fordian slips, I think. I wanted you to go check Flash UB out on YouTube this week because we want to see a big push on there. Because if you're watching it here and you haven't clicked or let me, I want to be one of those guys who look at me. We're on video now, RGT. I want you doing all this. I won't put any of this in because I'm absolutely bone idle. And aka, I've got no idea what I'm doing. But you know, link video here, maybe down there, I don't even know. And then subscribe down here or where, wherever it is that you need to do it. Comment, come on. If you've got this far through, there must be something about us that you like. Give us a break, you know. We're trying to make it on the video. We do very well on audio, but we come here and we have our pants pulled down, people laugh at us. And it's embarrassing because in the world that we're from, when that happens, there's just gasps of like, oh, what is that? And that's better than laughed at, all right? And I won't have it anymore. RGT needs his caviar crisps, and I want a massage and head rub. Yep. In any order you want.
SPEAKER_00But if I don't get caviar crisps, I'm a nasty beast.
SPEAKER_04So and mate, it's not looking like we're gonna be able to get you any at least ten years. So look, calm down, sit down, send it. There's one way you can help us. It's basically RGT's caviar helpline, and we need donations, anything from three to ten dollars a month. Generally serious. If you're listening to this show on audio, you can go to the bottom and you can click a little link, and you can you can help me keep this feral beast fed. Oh, yes. Because unfortunately, a man like this, you would expect a bee steel man like this to have sort of pretty lowbrow tastes, raw meat, loose women, high volume ale, liquor.
SPEAKER_03You know, he's a real thug. Smoked roll.
SPEAKER_04But he's not that at all. He's actually a very highly refined, almost late 1800s gentleman who likes silk pajamas. I do a lot of bits of silk. He likes Italian water. He likes he likes very fine things, the fine things. Foie gloire. He likes foie gras. He he has a very interesting penchant, and I sign the credit card slips for what I can describe here legally for the receipts I sign. Oh god. There's a foot massage. Having witnessed said foot massage, I would say the only thing RGT didn't get massaged.
SPEAKER_03Including his back passage, it was his sausage. Because it was a free massage.
SPEAKER_00Right. Shall we do the subs list? Yeah. Absolutely destroyed. I know what this is, isn't it? I know what this is all about. Been away for two shows. Oh, I'll show him. I'll show him. I'm gonna destroy you on air.
SPEAKER_02I don't think I've destroyed you, I think that I've destroyed myself at the same time. Haven't I?
SPEAKER_00Well, the last time you destroyed me on air, I had someone drive past me in the street shouting out RimGuard, so I don't know if I'm gonna be getting that.
SPEAKER_02Do you think they're gonna shout to you off the back of all this? Barely anything.
SPEAKER_00Massage my back passage, I expect.
SPEAKER_02I didn't know that I'd done you there. I didn't think that would be the thing is.
SPEAKER_00Anyway.
SPEAKER_04I didn't want you getting laughed at in the street, but in some ways you could argue that no, look, boom, we're getting interaction with the fans, we're making it. People recognize you in the street and they shout things at you from the show. We're getting we're going places, RGT. Where will we be this time next year?
SPEAKER_00Straight to the top, I expect. Boom. Exactly.
SPEAKER_04I hope with a real deal, 4K cameras a lot. Look at this. This isn't Mickey Mouse, does it? Is it made out of paper mache?
SPEAKER_00Amazon, 12 quid.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, it's set dressing. As I've said for the last 300 some odd episodes, we are just a performative comedy pretending to go back.
SPEAKER_02Video.
SPEAKER_04I haven't got icon lights.
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_04What do I know about video games?
SPEAKER_00Exactly.
SPEAKER_02Subs list, do it.
SPEAKER_00First up, we have the wonderful Captain Scarlet, as I've mentioned him a few times before for doing a website and different bits and pieces he does for the show, graphics and stuff. A very wonderful gentleman. So thank you very much for that, Captain.
SPEAKER_04I think I just held the mirror up to myself and I realised. I knew at that moment I knew. Where have you sent this sub list to today? Oh, it's just so professional. Well, I went the place it was, and now it's not there. So now it's it starts with W.
SPEAKER_00Have a guess. Don't look at Wikipedia.
SPEAKER_04WhatsApp. Yeah, I found it now. Jesus. People think I make up that I can't do the electronics.
SPEAKER_00No, he can't.
SPEAKER_04Oh, look, this has worked out perfectly. I'll tell you why, because this week RetroEd rocked up out of nowhere, slapped me up the side of the face, one of the best YouTube shots I've seen in my life. Good news is it's performed very well. The bad news, I'm in it. Tell you what, he made me look like a hero. He did another one of his thingies where he does it to me voice. I tell you what, I don't think I've served up anything clickworthy this week. Saying that, I don't think I've served up any clickworthy things ever, I've said, but you found something within there to talk about Resident Evil Requiem, and it's absolutely banging. So thank you, thank you, thank you, Retro Ed, for that. Superb. Um, you're a muscular man, a very helpful man, and a very sensual man.
SPEAKER_00Wow. Okay, who's next? Next up, we have the One Man George Fan Club. It is Carlos himself. So handsome. He was very helpful when I was playing through Remember Me as well.
SPEAKER_04I'll be honest with you, he's like a Greek god. You're lucky he decided to even look at you.
SPEAKER_00I do feel privileged. You should. I do.
SPEAKER_04He's my man, my Ryan man.
SPEAKER_00I don't even look at him in the eyes, I just look at the floor because I'd stop worth it.
SPEAKER_04Listen, mate, we're at the end of the show right now. I'll tell you one thing. He'll fuck you up.
SPEAKER_00Who we got next?
SPEAKER_04The man that fucked me up, because he was straight for the jugular. Don't worry, it's not flashy beer, it's the ECP.
SPEAKER_00I don't like it when you swear. I don't like it when you I don't like it when you F-bomb.
SPEAKER_04Carries no weight anymore, does it, to be fair? I hear kids saying it, the bloody toddler drop off.
SPEAKER_00My mum was disappointed, put it that way. She said, George said the F-word. I was like, oh no, I've told him not to. She's not not very PG, is it? I was like, well, no.
SPEAKER_04Did she not get the memo?
SPEAKER_00Well, I think she thought you were joking and then got very disappointed.
SPEAKER_04So Alright, let's have it out now. Do we go back to the PG era? No swears, just leave all the innuendo where it is.
SPEAKER_00And don't you message him, mum? We know what you think. We just just leave it to the uh the gamers, please.
SPEAKER_04Alright, anyway, firm returns. He gripped me by the throat. His grip was so strong. Jeez. And he just said, Don't Don't get your Avengers Crusaders mixed up again. Alright, you didn't just embarrass me, you embarrassed yourself. You didn't. And I wet I and I wept myself.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I felt when I read that message, I actually felt ashamed. He really did mess up. Yeah, and where were you? He he was upset. He was upset. Where were you? Well, exactly. That's why I've come back.
SPEAKER_04I don't think if you'd been here, if you'd have been here, if you'd have been here, I don't think you'd have pulled me up for it. I think you'd have been as complicit in it, Scotty. I think you'd have watched the car crash up and you'd have been like, yeah.
SPEAKER_00I've just pulled you up for swearing. Why would I not pull you up for messing up Toxic Avengers or Toxic Crusader?
SPEAKER_04Get a grip. Alright, well, thank you, firm returns. You're not only a very loyal listener, but you also you got our back. And that and that is, you know, that's why if you invest on X, firm returns today, you'll be very financially rewarded. Exactly. Trump.
SPEAKER_00Trump.
SPEAKER_04From Trump to Trump in a week. I write him, but I can't say him. No, well done. Thanks for the save. Who's next?
SPEAKER_00Next up we have the wonderful trestles of New York. So if you're in New York and you fancy some wings or a burger or just a few drinks, Bobbin Trestles, best in New York.
SPEAKER_04Which leaves me the great honour and privilege of thanking probably the UK's reincarnation of everything that you can imagine a hard nut Yakuza is. He's got a nose for a deal, he's all over it. He likes his Japanese collectibles. He's got his tats. I wish at this point he collected rats, but he doesn't. It's roast based monk.
SPEAKER_00And he's been buying a few more Dreamcasty games just lately, so that collection is getting closer and closer. It's so engorged.
SPEAKER_04It's ready to pop.
SPEAKER_00Yep. Next up we have the awesome Badabinkster, who's the pictures he keeps putting up of his growing collection is absolutely amazing. His PS3 collection is absolutely amazing. Um, what a wonderful guy, and very helpful to us as well for graphics and bits and pictures.
SPEAKER_04I thought I genuinely thought you were gonna say his growing member. And I was like, wow, okay, that took a swerve.
SPEAKER_00See, that's little Georgie's brain again, isn't it?
SPEAKER_04That it it it it it it is, it is it is anyway. Thank you, Vanessa. No, you are hey Tadabelakosi, which means I get Tingle Tuna now. This guy is so handsome to me. I much like you can't look Carlos on the eye, I can't look Tingle Tuner in the eye, because it's almost a it's a reminder of my own failings and how fundamentally flawed I am as a human being. Because he's he's funny because I've had the privilege of meeting him in the flesh, and I'll be honest with you, I can't hold a candle to him. I skid Add a look. I was like, fucking all this guy is the one man show, look at him, he's real deal. Um we need to get everyone together again because these guys love to get in the mix. We need a big, big meetup again if you're up for that and you uh Well, I you know, what about uh why don't we get the band together for OLF?
SPEAKER_00The band?
SPEAKER_04Everyone on this list, including Billy Marmite. Yep, yeah, that'd be good. We turn up, and even if you're not on this list, if you're listening, you're on the periphery, you're in the Discord, whatever it is, let's band together, let's go uh, let's take it over. Can we get this show viral to the point where we turn up at OL with half a million people?
SPEAKER_00That would be incredible.
SPEAKER_04And we do a live show. If it's if it's one under half a million, we ain't doing it.
SPEAKER_00Nope. Shh done.
SPEAKER_04You're out of here. But if we see half a million, if we if we see the starts of this thing, oh think how good it could be. Me, OLL, well, no, it's called UCP Live now, pal. No, no, it is because all these cancels, all these tickets are cancelled. Okay, UCP Live. Brilliant. Dominic Diamond is my butler. No, no, we can't have that, George. No, let me tell you now. He's doing it. That's as no show. Wow. And he comes on, he'll talk. Maybe we'll give him a couple of lines that you've written. Good ones.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Or try.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Oh no. I'm one of those. Give him yeah, he comes on, does all that. Yeah. Oh yeah. So make it happen. That's where it starts. This is the wave.
SPEAKER_00Let's hope so.
SPEAKER_04You can you do maybe a hand signal to camera while making a noise, so camera goes to you of something that we can get behind as the symbol for this movement, please. And three, two, one. Cut to RGT for noise symbol of movement. Very good.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_04Actually, that could work. That could work. That could work.
SPEAKER_00I had to think quick. Next up, we have the wonderful digital Mugri. Um, as we always say every week, challenge accepted, he does. He does the let's get quizzical. Let's get quizzical. Quizzical.
SPEAKER_02Wanna get quizzical?
SPEAKER_00Jeez.
SPEAKER_03Let me feel your body here.
SPEAKER_00And also was my chauffeur to Bristol. So thank you very much, Liam. I really appreciate that. Ah, how was that?
SPEAKER_04What was your vehicle of choice?
SPEAKER_00It was nice to just sit in the back and play the switch like I'm used to.
SPEAKER_04So where did this RGT? Did she shout shotgun?
SPEAKER_00No, I have her in the boot and she just passes me drinks and mops my who got shotgun. Um his son.
SPEAKER_04Oh proper father-son experience.
SPEAKER_00And I just sat in the back, switched to um a brow mopped.
SPEAKER_04A little bit voyeur-like again, if I may, if I may be so bold. I mean, you're you're sitting there watching the father son road trip. I'm imagining DM's he's a bit crazy, so he's like, Do you do the gears, boy? I'll do the clutch. Boop, boop, boop, through the gears, boom, down the boat away. You're like, yeah. You should be playing your game, but you're looking up and you're like almost like a social vampire absorbing any energy from that experience. I feel Like a little bit criminal?
SPEAKER_00I don't. Okay. So thank you, Digital Mode.
SPEAKER_02What game did you play in the back on the way down there? I dare say.
SPEAKER_00Didn't really play. I played when I got there in the hotel room, but I didn't play. Did you really? No, we were all chatting and that and just had a good time. It was great, great journey. So did the boy have a good time? Yes, yes, yes, we all did. Fantastic. That's been a good weekend. Yeah, really enjoyed that. That was good. Really good.
SPEAKER_04Well. I guess that means I get bold boulder. Thank you, sir, for your for your support. I'm very grateful for you. Um and you the way you kind of basically nurse RGT in his off-camera time. I'm very grateful for you.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he certainly does. Um then we have. Do I do going?
SPEAKER_04I think you do a classic, but you put a twist on it. I don't think you go militaristic. I think you go office. And I mean, I mean like a high-rise US office power sh power move. You're in one of those cubicles, you Michael J. Fox and Secret of My Success, you're going places, but I don't know how you incorporate that into going brown.
SPEAKER_00Well, you could be like doing financial reports, and he needs needs a bit of help from Boba. So he's in these little cubicle and he's going, Boba, Boba, Boba, can you listen to me, man? We're going brown. We're going brown. How's that?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I mean I mean there is no way, right, wrong way of playing it, is there really? It was your intention.
SPEAKER_00Sandra wrote to me, I felt it, you know.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, no, you felt it, you dealt it, you smelt it. And that's what it looked like.
SPEAKER_00Thank you, Boba.
SPEAKER_04That means I get to think that he's not he's not 50% of me. He's my son. He's zero percent of me. But he's a hundred percent of everything to me. He's my red-headed stepson. People marvel at him in the street because he's at least 25% more massive than the average human being. So he cuts quite a figure down his rural local X mining town area. And people look up from the local charity shops and vape stores and Turkish barbers, and they all took sort of take a sharp. I won't be rushed on this. They all take a sharp intake of breath. Marvel at just what a great man he is. That's my boy.
SPEAKER_00Thank you, Ginge. Who's next? Next up, we have the wonderful Harvey Retro.
SPEAKER_04He did a video about videoing and then talked about us in the video.
SPEAKER_00He did, yes. I've got to watch that today, so he did make it.
SPEAKER_04It's good, and he got the video up on the Spotify. I thought I was seeing lasers, but actually I was watching video on Spotify. I don't know how it happened. It's a sort of technical wizard he is. If you go to the podcast of Harvey Retro.
SPEAKER_00And he he wants us to use that studio as well, so that would be an interesting.
SPEAKER_02He don't want us in there.
SPEAKER_00He does, yeah, he does. He wants us to record in there.
SPEAKER_02Wrecking it, mess around with it like that.
SPEAKER_00He don't want that. Well, we would have to put you on we'd want you on some reins, I expect, and we'd have to sort of control you and make sure you're a good boy, but the rest of us who can act normally, he would like us in there, yeah.
SPEAKER_04So that looked very fancy.
SPEAKER_00It was very fancy. We could have the video and that done, maybe before K. Yeah. You'll have to wax. Oh, not again. I'll have to wax. You'd have to wax me because it takes a month.
SPEAKER_04I tell you what we do. I've been thinking about this. The human body does fit together in a real seamless way if you think about it. If you top and tail the human body, so if we could somehow incorporate that into this waxing, think of the time we could save.
SPEAKER_00Who's next?
SPEAKER_04I don't know. Oh I don't know how we bounce here. We just say thank you, Emma, Emma Sharp, thank you.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I was I was worried of a slip then. I really was. What did you mean by that? Is that is that a euphemism? Can you not let me say anything without trying to stitch me up? Right, next up, we have Greg, the wonderful nowhere near Berlin. Thank you as always, Greg. Thank you. We'll have to get you on the show again.
SPEAKER_04Who? He can't mire his brand. Maybe it's you and him. Legally safer. Uh I'll thank Mumsy.
SPEAKER_00Thank you, Mumsey, as always. And I get to thank the RGT fan club, as always. Thank you very much.
SPEAKER_04Which means I get to thank the mighty Pete Brocklehurst. This week, RGT. Do you know what he did?
SPEAKER_00Oh no, what's he done?
SPEAKER_04He took a He took a refresher bar that was hot and malleable. I'm not talking, you know, when they go cold and they snap and shatter. He took a warm refresher bar, about a foot long, snapped it clean enough with a one-inch punch.
SPEAKER_00No way.
SPEAKER_04The application.
SPEAKER_00I did hear he was a master of the one incher.
SPEAKER_04Oh dude, I'll tell you what, if he drives that into you, you know about it.
SPEAKER_00Wow. Who's next? Next up we have Billy Mummy. Thank you, Billy, as always.
SPEAKER_04Ah they call him Geppetto because he puppets me in here every week. Now, we've had a few complaints that we didn't do it properly. So apparently RGT now needs to do the whole routine. So RGT, please tell me how you want me to Zangeef it this week.
SPEAKER_00I want a bit of a reverse Zangeef this week. I want you to be I want you to feel at the start on the fat bit that you feel just like when you got your PSVR2, and just as you're reaching your Zangeef, you realise that no one cares and it's completely bombed and you've wasted all your money on it. I want a complete reverse. Go.
SPEAKER_04Fignazas Fat Zangief reserved. It reversed.
SPEAKER_00Oh wow. Brilliant. Well thank you, Fat Zangief, as always.
SPEAKER_04That was uh play that back in reverse, guys. Did I get that right?
SPEAKER_00I think I did. You may have insulted another country somewhere along the lines there, but don't you worry about it.
What We Play Next And Goodbye
SPEAKER_04Don't you worry your pretty little head about it, it's fine. Thank you to everybody who supports. Uh thank you as always. We're very grateful to you, as we said. I said at the start it was to pay for our GT's like treats fund is actually to help us, you know, put the show out and support it and do things. Like give you the t-shirts and bits and bobs along the way. Yes. You think we would be cash rich off the back of it. We're barely scratching our faces, but we're very, very grateful for everything that you do. And if you want to support the show, feel free to play the link at the bottom of wherever you're listening to this, and there'll be something there. Definitely on Apple, definitely on Spotify. Um, we should make it easier, but hey, we're worth it. RGT and we're also completely inept. Um RGT, after that wonderful thank of our lovely people. Um I must very hurriedly probably ask you what you're hoping to play.
SPEAKER_00Um, definitely be more Raj cracking time. There'll be a bit more Metroid Prime 4, hopefully, as long as I don't get lost, a bit annoyed, and then put it down and never play it again, which I hope that doesn't happen. Um then I'm can't wait for people to sort of either finish up or end their Remember Me playthroughs that we can get another vote on. So if you are playing Remember Me, let us know where you are on Go to RGT in the past back in the past on our what's gonna be in the mix for the next vote. Oh, I don't know about looking up. We've got so many games. There's like 50 games on there, so we can choose from. So we've been slowly ticking them off as we go, but we've had some we've had some great bangers so far from sleeping dogs slots. So remember me. We've had we had a Forza Horizon 2 in there, we've had Dead Space, we've had yeah, I think next needs to be Africa on PS3. Yeah, because we could all get that, can't we? So that'll be a sudden spike, people looking for it to CX. Um, but yeah, so hopefully we can get a vote done maybe the end of this week to get our next game on there. So uh yeah, that's probably what I'll be playing. What about you, George? Bumped, trumped, and dumped.
SPEAKER_04I um will be playing a little bit more can. Um I dig it. I am also planning on playing a little bit more um we're gonna watch a little bit of Psycho Norton Tropico. Uh and I'm gonna try and have a little bit more fun on Dead Space 2 as well. I think I'm quite excited by that. I think maybe MLB dropped. And I kept saying I wouldn't, and I couldn't, and I shouldn't. And I couldn't, and I wouldn't, and I and uh I shouldn't. You're gonna buy eight versions of it again. Oh, don't look at me like that. Don't judge me for being me.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Well that loaded, didn't it? Yeah. You say that, I keep thinking about getting um EASC26 because you've got the cloud saves, so then I could carry on my career on the switch to my mate's done it, and he's like, I know it's not quite as good a version, it's a bit slower, but you can then just carry on when you're away from home and it is so good. And I maybe I'll do it because it's quite cheap now. Should I do that? I don't know.
SPEAKER_04I think like before when I was chopping and changing a lot, like I'd have advocated, yeah. But I think if you're not, just wait till you are and get it then.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Right back to go on holiday, boom, okay, I'll get it.
SPEAKER_00Great idea.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, good idea. Not that that bank's good to you then or good to you now. It doesn't really matter, does it? Spend it when you spend it, but yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, exactly. No, good point. Uh okay. Is that it? Yeah, I think we're about there, aren't we?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I think so. We've done all the housekeeping, done all that. Well, you know what? RGT, it's been a wonderful experience. Thank you. It's great to be back. It's good to see you. You're looking great. I think you um probably need to take less holidays. You look worn out.
SPEAKER_00I don't think that's the holidays, that's the work, but there we go. Look, flashback done right itself. Exactly.
SPEAKER_04Alright, that's all we have time for this week, listen as always thank you for your time. Look forward to the pleasure of speaking to you again next week. Until then, happy gaming river. There's nothing wrong with being given the unofficial control, it's what you do with it that counts. How's it going, RGT? Is Flashy B done or or no? No. See you next week.
SPEAKER_00See ya.
