GTA 6 preorders are reportedly “exceptional,” Halo is back in the headlines for all the wrong reasons, and Nintendo is quietly building the coziest escape hatch in modern gaming. We’re George and RGT, and we spend this week juggling two truths at once: we love this hobby, and we’re tired of how exhausting the industry conversation can feel. So we start where it actually matters, with the games in our hands, not the outrage on our feeds.

RGT runs through a packed playlist, from Death on the Nile’s satisfying mystery solving to Farlands, a Stardew Valley style farming sim set in space where fuel, travel time, and a ship you can sleep in turn cozy routines into real planning. We also shout out Rogue Flight, a slick on-rails shooter that scratches that Star Fox itch with modern speed and buttery controls. On George’s side, Donkey Kong Bonanza brings chaotic destruction and big Nintendo energy, while Starfield on PS5 delivers incredible sound and story potential but also raises real questions about loading screens, menus, and how “space exploration” should feel minute to minute.

Then we hit the big news: what it means when GTA 6 marketing ties into a Netflix gameplay reveal, why “external contractor shifts” can be a convenient phrase after Halo Campaign Evolved ships, and why the Switch 2 third-party lineup feels like a rare bright spot. We’re not pretending compromises don’t exist, but we are saying this: portability plus strong ports might be the most honest value in gaming right now, and it’s making us want to play more, not argue more.

If you’re burned out on negativity but still want smart takes, game recommendations, and a reason to stay excited, press play. Subscribe, share the show with a friend who needs a gaming reset, and leave us a review with the one platform that still feels fun to you right now.

Welcome And The Subscribe Pitch

SPEAKER_03

Hello and welcome to the unofficial controller podcast, your weekly gaming podcast, episode number 331 with me, George, and this week joined by RGT. He's Master Chief to my Master Chef. Now, before you get carried away, yes, you better stick around because we've got some news coming up. GTA 6 pre-orders are exceptional. Woohoo! Halo Studio suffers job losses shortly after shipping the campaign Evolved launch. And Nintendo highlights its multiple major third-party releases coming up in the back end of this year. If you're in for a bit of that and a whole lot more, stick around and welcome. And don't forget, somewhere down here, someone with far more skills than me may put subscribe. If not, you know where the button is. Hit the freaking living daylights out of it. Come join the family. RGT. I must say. Yes, my friend. I like what you're doing. Let's let's go for it. So we're gonna have matching beards today. I'm gonna draw my arm a bit, eh?

SPEAKER_01

I don't think you need to.

SPEAKER_03

I can be mingamers just like you. Does that work at all?

SPEAKER_01

You need a sharpie.

SPEAKER_03

I ain't got a sharpie. The show's budget won't run to it. So I've got a big pen. I've took probably a couple of layers of skin off. Is it working? Is it drawing on me?

SPEAKER_01

No, it looks darker.

SPEAKER_03

There we go. So now we've got matching beards. Yeah. Yeah, it's cool. Yeah, you're looking good. I'll be honest, you've turned up today looking how I'd imagine our Australian listener, Shane Con looks in real life. I just ain't got a quad or you. You look a little bit like Lidl's version of Chopper.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I'll tack that. I'll tack that. Yeah, cool. I've been called a lot worse.

SPEAKER_03

Uh quite right, quite right. Um now everyone's settled in and they're sat down, they're subscribed in the thousands, and I don't blame you because we've got so much on offer. You might think it's just a weekly show, but actually it's two shows a week, a retro base one and this one. And I'm not going to bore you with it, but if you want to subscribe and get involved in the journey, we've got a Discord, a website, competitions, giveaways, all of that stuff happens in our Discord, but we don't like to pump it too much because we don't want to look too desperate. But you're all welcome. So come find the Linktree somewhere and come join the party. RGT, now that's all said and done. We've done the contractual stuff that the higher-ups here at the UCP request that I do on a weekly basis. Um, I feel like I'm peddling myself like a two-bit whore. Um, but apparently it needs done. Um, and we're here to help you navigate the toxic hellhole that's become gaming in 2026 and find a small, albeit small, window of enjoyment where you can still enjoy your favourite hobby despite all this sort of diskless noise, gaming's dead, blah, blah, blah. We're to tell you it's not. It's alive and kicking in the homes of gamers up and down the UK. And we just turn off that. This is a bit like the intro to why don't you, when I was a kid growing up, just turn off the TV and do something different instead. I realise you've all turned off and had a critical reassessment of yourselves. Like, why am I watching YouTube when I could be playing games? It's a bloody good question. But sit around and hopefully we'll prove to you why you're gonna sit through this. Grab your switch, grab your Steam Deck, have a little play, then play on your Steam Deck of your Switch while listening to this. RGT. Yes. This channel has a format very strict. Once I've done all the legal jargon, which to be honest, they've kidnapped my children, got them at gunpoint that I need to say. So hopefully I get them back for at least another week. Fingers crossed. Fingers crossed. Um hopefully this time they'll come back not broken.

SPEAKER_01

Well, yeah. I was gonna say fingers crossed if I have any, but yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Fingers Yeah, I see what you've done there. Yeah, fingers broken.

What We’ve Been Playing Rundown

SPEAKER_01

Anyway, what you've been playing? Pull up a pew, fella. There's been a few games going through the systems this week. Wow. Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Is that for fair or foul reason? Is it because they've been garbage or because you've just been like a kid in like a kid in a sweet shop? Little piggy wiggy, you've just been getting every game.

SPEAKER_01

Piggy wiggy. Um I'll start with the one. No, it was it was more that um there's a couple of games I'd pre-ordered, um, or one I'd pre-ordered, one I'd been waiting for to come online. Um, both got those, and then I happened to get a bargain game, which then was a third game. Then I got a beta of a game to test. So I've been testing that. Um Death on the Nile um on my Switch 2. I can't remember if I spoke about that last week or not. I can't remember. But anyway, um, I got that is the collector's edition,

Death On The Nile Switch Mystery

SPEAKER_01

which was actually cheaper than the standard for some reason. But um, I've been playing that. Um, if you've played Murder on your Express, you pretty much know the format. There's some new um controls and some new ways of solving puzzles, which I find really good. Um, there's now a new way before you had his mind map where you'd link things up in his mind by pressing the X button. Now, when you get close to solving the mystery, you'll go into almost like a sort of Tron VR mode, and you'll walk through and all the suspicious characters you'll try and that'll tell you when you've got it correct their movements and everything, and then you get it all correct, then you've solved the crime.

SPEAKER_03

What are we gonna call this then Prairie Vision?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, no, um, but this one the the Auton Express was a modern day version of the Awn Express. I think it was set in 2023, something like that. This is back in 1974, so this is the still the same uh Prairo, but he's a bit younger. But I'm enjoying it so far. Yes, it's it sometimes feels a bit of a budget game, you know. You get the odd little freeze and the odd little artifact and then pop in, but nothing major that really worries you with a game. It's not on Switch 2, is it? Uh Switch, but on plan on planet on Switch 2. Um but it's still it looks pretty decent. You've got loads of puzzles to solve and things to work out, and I just love them sort of games, really enjoying it. Um I'd definitely if you like puzzle games, definitely worth picking it up. I got Captain on onto Awn Express, and he's really enjoying that at the moment. Um great little game to play if you're into sort of Agapha Christie and stuff. Um then I picked up a game which I'd been I'd heard about for a while, then it released, I believe it released last week, but it went on to a sale. There's a lot of these um indie games. Nintendo tends to give them a push by sort of dropping 30% on release, so you get a bit of a deal

Farlands Stardew In Space

SPEAKER_01

on them. Um, and that is a game called Farlands. Um, I've been watching it for a while. Um, and it I think it was going to release at £15, 16 pounds, they put it on for £12 in the sales last week. Um, if you haven't heard of Farlands, it is uh a Stardew clone but in space. So when you um when you first start, you you literally the same sort of thing. You leave the rat race of planet Earth, you get your own little planet, which is your own sort of farm, you know, and you can clear the areas, plant your crops, do your bits and pieces, but you can fly to other planets and do deals and do different things, visit other planets and get different stuff, different seeds, um, sell things, um, but also you've got to upgrade your ship, make sure you've got enough fuel to get to these planets and get back. And the thing I do like, which is a great thing, obviously going to different planets, there's a time, and that'll say, yes, you can go here, but you're not gonna get there until three o'clock in the afternoon. So but then you've got to be back to bed, right? And you think, oh, it's hardly any any it's not worth doing it. But your spaceship has your own bed and a ring in it, so you can use it like a camper van, so you can fly to these different planets um and more up, and if you're late, you can camp in your in your spaceship before you go home, which I think's brilliant. Um so far, I'm only a couple of hours in, really enjoying it. If you like them sort of farm and sims, sort of 16-bit looking farm and sims. Um, I'd give Farlands a go. Um, it's really quite enjoyable, and having that space side of it where you can plan a hop a bit, um, yeah, it's quite exciting, something a bit different. Um, also I downloaded a game which I'd sort of been looking at for a while, I'd heard was really good. Um, and I didn't pull a trigger on it for ages, and then I watched I watched Switch Up on last Sunday doing their uh deals, you know, their sales, and this cropped up for $2.99. I thought, well, I'm just gonna buy it for $2.99. Um, and this is Rogue Flight. Um, if you haven't heard of Rogue Flight, it is basically um a faster, uh more sort of grown-up version of Star Fox. It's on an on-rail shooter, um, but the controls are absolutely superb, and you'll have a lot of fast action, lot shooting, but that does this thing called a tail whip. So you do a button press,

Rogue Flight And Retro Handheld Hits

SPEAKER_01

spin the ship round, and the sort of wave of the tail of the ship will kill everything in front, and you could do that as part of your move, so you end up doing like special moves really with your ship. Very, very good game, very good game. I would recommend it to anyone. That is rogue flight. If you're into them sort of shooters, I'm looking at you, Carlos. You've probably already played it, you've probably got the Japanese import collector's edition on the PC engine, but but yeah, rogue flight, give it a go. I'm really enjoying that. I'm back level three at the moment, I think. That's a roguelite, not roguelike, if that makes sense. I think you get to keep your no, it's a rogue flight. Oh, very good. So, yeah, give that a go. And last couple of things, um, I've been really enjoying the I say everk, but that's the pipe and mega tech, my little handheld Neo Geo one. I've been playing that this week, and I've been playing Bubble Bobble and Space Invaders, original arcade pool.

SPEAKER_03

That's a little bit more my cup of tea.

SPEAKER_01

And been really enjoying it. And I sent you that clip because they're releasing the Banjo Kazooie one um with the Banjo Kazooie game.

SPEAKER_03

Um I'll be honest, it felt like propaganda when you sent it to me.

SPEAKER_01

Why is that? What I'm under the payroll.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, definitely under the payroll of Evocade Baller. I'm not under the payroll, that's just 30 years.

SPEAKER_01

That's just that they do great things for retro gaming, and I just think any retro gamer should have one. So um yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Is he gonna get paid for that? Then we'll leave it in.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, leave in. Leave it in, leave in.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, but nothing but shills.

SPEAKER_01

So um I know um they're getting a lot of good press at the moment, and so they should, with with physical games being a uh hot topic.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, um he's gonna get paid for that as well.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, definitely, yeah. We'd want to be classed as a shill, you know, just because every is the number one retro place to play games. Um that one as well.

SPEAKER_03

Are we fine?

SPEAKER_01

And also you've got to say, you know, them hyper mega techs, the value of them, they're so cheap, you know, and they're a great way, affordable way to pay. You know, so getting a new one, Nexus coming out, that looks powerful. So they're doing a special Doom version of that with a Doom style console with uh with the Doom games one and two and all the little hidden extras as well. Great value. The Doom one and two shareware games. Uh I scot all the other ones as well. The I'm not a Doom person, but I scot all the spin-off ones they done as well. So I can't remember what they were called. Yeah, so definitely worth a look.

SPEAKER_03

Let's get pumped and primed and down in the position to get that inserted into our backpackage at uh 99.99. Uh is that it? Is that all you've been playing?

SPEAKER_01

Yes, I'll take a breath now. That is all I've been dabbling in. I say all, that is all the stuff I've been dabbling in this week. What about you, George? I've got a funny feel you're probably just gonna say nothing, move on. Or have you been?

SPEAKER_03

Let's rewind. I want to ask you some questions about farlands, if I may be so bold. Your ship your journeys to the other planets. When you go to the other planets, can you turn them into agricultural hubs as well? Or is that a no-no? Is it just your planet is your place, and then you go shopping around these other places or selling your wares around these other places? Just help me out a little bit.

SPEAKER_01

Um, I'm quite early into the game at the moment. I've only visited one planet, um, which you land in a little landing area, you can walk off, and then they had like um there was a cutscene to show basically what the story of the game was. There's basically uh a big corporation who's trying to mine all these planets and they're taking all these systems up. This system is one of them. Now, how they done the clever thing, like in Stardew Valley, where you had the museum where you'd put things in as one of the trophies 100%. This has a similar thing, but you have to you go in a teleporter, and there's these aliens who are collecting um all these artifacts to make it so they try and save systems from being mined because they're of importance. So when you find all these things and grow them, you you can give them to them to build up evidence to keep this system going. So that was a nice little touch. So at the moment, I don't know if you can grow anything on other places. Um but like I say, I'm early into it, but that was quite good going to another planet, and then that'll tell you how much fuel you're gonna use. At the moment, I've only got two fuel rods to use because my others are corrupt. So you've got to upgrade your ship to make sure you can go further afield, um, which was quite good to visit these other planets, so I don't know what they'll be like, but it's it's it's your standard stardew clone, you know, you've got your fishing, you've got your butt, it's obviously alien stuff. So your plants you grow are quite weird, your fishing is quite odd, odd creatures you'll catch. Um, but yeah, I quite like it. And also they've they've tweaked it as well. So rather than having a pet animal on the farm, you'll find this destroyed sort of robot on your farm, and you'll you you'll gather a couple of bits over the first five, ten minutes, fix him, and he's like his face is like a cat, but he's like a little sort of drone robot, and he's your assistant, so he goes around the farm and you can ask him to help you on anything. So if you ever need help or can't remember how to do things, you just ask your little bot, he'll always be with you and he'll help you with your ship and bits and pieces.

SPEAKER_03

So will he do work for you or is he just literally a floating help icon?

SPEAKER_01

Um, he just sort of drives around really. I haven't I haven't tried to see if he does any work on that yet, and because the game's quite new, there's not a lot of information out there online. But um reviews I've seen from people have played more deeper into the game, it's they rate it quite highly. So I'd definitely, if you're into them sort of farms in, I'd give it a look for you know for 12 bucks. I think it's a bit of a bargain, but you know, we'll see how how much depth that's got. I mean, I think you can get married as well and do all the usual sort of things, so yeah, yeah, definitely Farlands. Give it a look. I reckon you quite like that, George.

SPEAKER_03

I've written it down, so it's made more of an impression than you have on me in the other room over the other hundred episodes. So fair play to you. Wow, it's the spaceship angle, yeah, kind of, but it just seems like another Stardew clone, of which there are so many.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, there was there is loads and very few guesses.

SPEAKER_03

And I predict two weeks from now you'll bounce off this and you'll go straight back to Stardew.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, probably right.

unknown

Fair enough.

SPEAKER_01

I there was one bit lower when I watched this. I thought, I wonder if George will like this. The space element might drag him into one of these farm and sims. And I flew to and then I flew to the other planet, and that was a cutscene. I went, nah, he ain't gonna like that. He wants to fly in and land it himself.

SPEAKER_03

Well, that's foreshadowing.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Um, oh yeah, yeah. So I just clicked with that. Yep.

SPEAKER_03

Are you ready? Is it my turn?

SPEAKER_01

May I? Yes, you may.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

Donkey Kong Bonanza First Impressions

SPEAKER_03

So I've got three games in the docket this week that I've mainly been playing. First one, picked it up last weekend, Donkey Kong Bonanza. Um, what do you think? You can tell it's made by the Odyssey team. Um uh, it looks great, it it it controls well. I just to me, and I'm still learning it, uh maybe on the second level, um, like the wanton destruction of everything leads to me being very confused. I kind of just want to cut around, and then I'm like smashing up a bit of the level, and it's never gonna look the same again, and I'm sure kids love a bit of that, but I'm like, oh crikey. There was one section where I was like just smashing for the hell of it, and they ended up like you it ends up putting like a silhouette around you, and it kind of goes into like a almost like an X-ray, but that you can see Donkey Kong, and you're kind of buttering around in this sort of tunnel, and you you kind of lose all perspective of where you are a little bit Minecraft. If I played a demo and done that, yeah, when you start digging up in Minecraft and then along and then down, and you lose all perspective of like where up and down is or where you even started, and you end up like completely in a corkscrew in the back of nowhere. Like I'm I'm I'm enjoying it. It to me it feels very much like a Mario game with a Donkey Kong skin. It makes sense that it's Donkey Kong with all the smashing that you're doing, and you know, I'm loving collecting the bananas, and there's already been a couple of like Donkey Kong nods in there that have made me smile. So yeah, I think that's a fun game that I'll just pop back to every now and then and push it forward a level at a time. Um, the unlocking of the skills feels quite reminiscent of like a rare game. Um, the unlocking of the different moves definitely feels like it's nodding to like something like Donkey Kong 64, for example. And like I say, I still need to play a little bit more, but I would say, although every other critical um place out there has has has been the media darling, the lovely of Donkey Kong Bonanza, I'm kind of jury out on it at the minute, but I'll report back. Um probably quick to say that yes, off the high of Nolan's Odyssey, me and the good lady wife have moved through a little bit more of that, um, levelled up, done a few more bits and bobs, I've been down to a proper bottom end of the map. I've kind of progressed the story forward. It's still an enjoyable game. Uh, and I was having fun with it until with my uh my daughter gave me um PlayStation voucher for my birthday. And I thought,

Starfield On PS5 Love And Friction

SPEAKER_03

oh, what can I get? Anyway, I was mooching round and I found in the store Starfield, uh, developed by Bethesda Bethesda, long-going uh UCP joke that I don't know how to say their name. I picked up Starfield. Within Starfield is a game that I can see myself really enjoying. Now, message in below, comment below if I'm playing this game wrong, but needing to press start to access the space menu seems a bit odd when I'm sat in the chair of my spaceship. Being able to immediately jump to the space station from my chair is not the that I've docked with is not what I was looking for. So I get I make my character get out of the chair, walk down the middle of the ship, and climb the ladder to board the dock spaceship. But I could have done all that with less loading and one click from my chair. So it's taking normally with Skyrim, Morrowind, Oblivion, the the journey is is part of it. And I don't mind the odd loading screen. Do you know what? From an era where it was just a permanent loading screen. You know, so I am culturally accepting of loading screens. But these ones, hmm. Where's the fast inventory? And again, I might need educating, but my gun ran out of ammo. The only way I could see it fixing this was pressing start, going to the inventory, picking a new gun. Now, I can probably put these to hotkeys, but the game's not really shown me how yet, or or I've not paid attention to it. I'm a classic chook the instruction book, I'll work it out kind of guy, but uh it's limited my enjoyment a little bit. The good stuff. What can I say that's good? The sounds are incredible. I was in a shootout in a mine the other day, and the sounds of the bullets, the kineticness of them hitting the sound of them in this cave, I was like, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I like that when I played it. The sounds were when you're when you're firing the gun, and that's that feels earthy, and there's depth to the gun when you're firing it. I thought, yeah, that they've done it well. Yeah, the sounds are brilliant.

SPEAKER_03

And it's got weight to it, so I've been like on as you guys know, I'm probably not a first-person shooter maniac. I do enjoy the odd one, uh, especially for like a single-player narrative. But um, even the shooting in it, I was kind of enjoying it, you know, ducking behind uh you know the box in the loading bay, or you know, kind of jumping around doing some stuff. There was a little bit of Benny Hill in it where I'm kind of running round and the guys are chasing me as I'm looking for med packs to heal myself up a little bit and then turn round or pop a couple off and then run a little bit further because someone shot me in the dairy air. But um yeah, I'm I t to be honest, if you've played one, you've played them all. Like, yeah, it feels like Fortnite, yeah, it feels like Skyrim, yeah, it feels like a bridge. But it feels like those games with more loading screens. Like when you transit into a town or out of a town and something. Sometimes a little bit of loading screen in some of these, especially Oblivion or As Was, uh Morrowind as an example. So it does feel like a game of its time that's just been given a real fresh, fresh coat of paint.

SPEAKER_01

And you said Fortnite.

SPEAKER_03

Did I?

SPEAKER_01

It said a Fortnite.

SPEAKER_03

I said this, I realized the other week when I was talking about Ryan Minecraft, I was actually rabbiting on about Fortnite. So I don't know what's gone on because I don't play the game, but it seems to have borrowed into my subconscious. So maybe I should play that over the next week because somehow it's calling to me, but I don't think so. No, no. Um, I like the improved character models. I I like the improved dialogue screens, they feel better. The voice and lip syncing feels more solid this time round. Um, and generally, obviously, space is is a pretty cool premise for me. Everybody knows that I love a good space sci-fi story, sci-fi setting, space, whatever it is. But the comparison for this is always going to be No Man's Sky. Immediately, straight out the gates, the story and the storytelling within Starfield makes No Man's Sky look like a Fisher Price toy. But the explorability, the adaptability, the customization, the freedom that exists in No Man's Sky makes Starfield look like a Fisher Price toy. So, like I'm enjoying it, I'll continue playing it. There's lots of good stories that are kind of coming out of it. Some of the side missions, some of the like clans and things that you can join. Like, yeah, it feels solid. Um, I've been uh to the moon in our um solar system, I've been all round the kind of Milky Way, and I've been you know quite enjoying it. I kind of the first time I was told I couldn't go somewhere directly because I hadn't been close enough before and had to like map out a journey a little bit closer to get to it. I was like, yeah, that's actually that works for me. That's kind of a decent explanation of why I can't quite get there in one go. So lots of things in there I like, but just the core components of the meal um smell a little bit off. There's a little bit of a sulfury tinge to the Mar GT, so I can't report that maybe I'm having a much different experience to you when you pick this up at launch from memory, but um and and I'm picking up the much improved version in their eyes with all the extra DLC because I paid extra just to get the the biggest pack with all the extra bits in it and some Starfield credits or some drivel.

SPEAKER_01

So you're on PS5 you're playing, are you? Yeah, I bet it must must be nice with the dual sense as well. Do you find it any sort of tricky?

SPEAKER_03

You're continuing to shill for the dual sense, but I barely even knew it was rumbling. But then again, that's the danger of the dual sense.

SPEAKER_01

So there is no adaptive triggers or nothing, no use or anything like that. I barely remember that they're there. So there could have been. Oh, okay. All right, fair enough.

SPEAKER_03

But I never really noticed whether they're happening or not. It's I jump on a Switch game and I'm just pressing the buttons or jump on the PS4 than pressing the buttons. I'm sure it probably has got adaptive triggers, and maybe I'm still in it a bit short, but certainly not enough to write home about, and certainly not enough to make my experience of Starfield much better. I'm playing it on a pro Shane, shame. Yeah, playing it on a probe in pro mode, so it's as good a Starfield as ever gonna look, allegedly. It's the best version, yeah. Um so yeah, I might go deep on it this weekend just to see if I can like push it on a little bit more and find that nugget or something in there that's gonna keep drawing me back. But if not, sure me and the wife will sit down, play a bit of Assassin's Creed Odyssey, and then watch uh Little House on the Prairie on Netflix.

SPEAKER_01

Uh then you'll be trying to find a game that's linked to Little House on the Prairie.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, well, there's a house building section, and we did talk about how Red Dead might need to go back in the uh in the consoles so we can get to the house building section as well. Uh yeah, yeah. OG, if you're listening, if you want to send me your pon show and your Western collection, I'm all for it, fella. I've already got a cowboy hat. Oh, and by the way, to any what anyone who listens to both shows or watches, I can't believe I've actually drawn a beard on, but you know, that happened. Um I am now wearing because Digital Monkers stepped in and did a flashback for us a couple of episodes ago, because I decided to selfishly go on holiday. I know I'm sorry, it won't happen again, not for a while. Um, I'm wearing exactly what he thinks I should wear. Green hat, jersey, hopefully representing him as he imagines me when he's touching himself late at night. And I say fair play to you, old boy. Everyone needs a hearer. Um why pick me when you've got that mustache legend sitting opposite you. I I I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, that's a tough one, that. No, definitely you.

SPEAKER_03

Really?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, oh, without a doubt, yeah. But look look at me.

SPEAKER_03

I'm not here to tell you what DM finds physically attractive, though. That's you kind of like mansplaining to him, like, oh no, you shouldn't fancy him, he shouldn't fancy me, you should fancy him. Like he fancies who he fancies.

SPEAKER_01

Well, yeah, true, but and and he does you. So facts.

SPEAKER_03

I don't want to he does do me. You're absolutely right, did me good and proper. Absolutely battered the living daylight. Is that my flash trench at OLL?

SPEAKER_01

Okay,

GTA 6 Preorders And Netflix Reveal

SPEAKER_01

should we get them on the news or yeah, it's time for the news.

SPEAKER_03

Let's go to the very darkest regions of the internet to bring you the latest stories. First up, um, when I can motivate my 286 PC to do what I want it to do. Now Stephen Telby, he's been reporting some stuff over on Push Square. It's as follows. GTA 6 pre-orders are exceptional so far, say to Take Two boss. The people are ready. It looks as though GTA 6 is performing well, very well for Rockstar and Take 2, as reported by Variety. The publisher recently had an earnings call with analysts about the last quarter, and he reports total net bookings of 1.39 billion. A portion of that total will come down to the massively anticipated open world title, as Take Two opened up pre-orders during last quarter, though it's only for its last five days. Strauss Zelnik, who sounds like a gene designer, CEO of the company, didn't go into numerical details about pre-orders, but said they have gotten off to an exceptional start, which is hardly surprising. It's not known how that quarterly bookings totally breaks down, though better than expected performance from the NBA 2K and GTA franches were noted by tape two. Net bookings are not equal to revenue. This metric for the same quarter came to 1.53 billion. Excitement for GTA 6 is off the charts and has been for a long time. And it's such an enormous launch that it's partnered with Netflix to debut an extended gameplay reveal, which just seems bonkers to me. I agree, Stephen. Anyway, it seems safe to say that a lot of people are pre-ordering GTA 6 and it's going to an unprecedented, it's going to be an unprecedented success when it launches in November. Have you pre-ordered the game yet? Comment below. If you haven't, also comment that below, and then we can weigh up the comments and work out, you know, from the thousands of you that watch um whether you have pre-ordered or not. I haven't yet, although at this point I'm thinking, why not throw down fake digital currency in Roxar's lap? Because um it's probably what they expect. I'm sure Mr. Strauss probably needs another yacht. RGT. Question I'm posing to you, fella, is have you pre-ordered?

SPEAKER_01

No. Will you pre-order? No, it's a digital game. Will you buy? Uh not sure yet, I suppose. Well, I don't know. I suppose I should do for the show. People want to know what we think of it and play the game, but I was sad to say I'm not that excited for it. I don't feel like it's made for me.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, what's this? You backpedal in a few weeks when you realise this is the hottest thing since the sun popped up in the universe and you're all over it like a hot rash, like syphilis on the same dick.

SPEAKER_01

I doubt it. Great way of putting it, but um I doubt it. I'd like to say, there'll be a lot of people excited for this game and people backpedaling, but I don't know if it's made for me this game. It's made for another generation. I don't think it's made for us.

SPEAKER_03

It's made for you.

SPEAKER_01

A take to have shown with GTA online what they do with a GTA game, hence why they've now sold um the rights to Netflix um to show gameplay, which is never allowed to be shown anywhere else. You're not allowed to show pictures on online or take screenshots or anything like that. It's just a big corporate world, and to be honest, I'm not that interested. It's a shame. I'm sure it'll be a wonderful game. It should be.

SPEAKER_03

Um, but you're the reason why this hobby's struggling right now. You need to get on board and hype the living crap out of this.

SPEAKER_01

Thank you. I think the reason the hobby's struggling right now is the exact people like Take Two, who are just money, money, money, money, and would do anything for the money, regardless of what gamers actually want. So it sort of signs me out of it.

SPEAKER_03

Call me intrigued, because I already sub to Netflix, like probably every single human being with a hole in their dairy does, and probably multiple accounts, maybe outside of even ad level. You know, people are crazy. I pay for the non-ad level, and I will be watching this the minute it drops because I am super intrigued to see what a myriad of things we're going to see from a current gen rock star game. To me, it kind of poses a direction that might go in with Red Dead if we ever get a Red Dead 3. Um, I'm intrigued to see what could be done by them in this era, especially when we see some of the physics and graphical fidelity that I've seen. But that all hinges on how it plays, and we will find out in the not too distant future how that goes down. I am getting mildly intrigued. I I am really keen to see it working now. I don't think in history a GTA has ever really popped off the trailers as much as it really pops when you see those gameplay moments where you get to see extended gameplay sections. I remember when GTA 4 we had snipshots and trailers, and then we got that big one where he's driving down the road past the theme park in in their version of New York, aka Liberty City, and it was like, yeah, okay, okay, now you've got me. Now I've seen the changes that you've made. Now I've seen the improvements that you've done. And for me, it's about creating a believable lived-in world, and that's what I'm seeing from GTA 6 in terms of the little snips of trailers that we've had. Like the world feels way more dense, the beaches look packed, the water looks good.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah, don't forget that's I don't have this gameplay yet, and we need to see gameplay first. We'll see that. We'll see that where we'll see. We'll see that. That's all just um pre-rendered stuff at the moment, so we'll see what what how the world lives is lived in. Hopefully, it'll be good. I mean, I know you weren't the biggest fan of five, were you?

SPEAKER_03

No, I skipped five at launch, to be fair. Um, not because I was adverse to it, just because I was exploring retro at the time. But I'll always be a big fan of four. I went back and found some enjoyment in five, but I'll stand on the record and say that whole single player campaign just felt like one massive tutorial for the online, which is basically where they wanted you to spend all your time and money. I kind of get it, like I'll roll over for a uh for a good storyline. Um, but yeah, and I came to it late, you know, as I was talking to OG the other day, he went to that when it first launched, but he never gripped to it. But you know, would describe it as quite a compelling experience and a kind of realistic city for the time and console that it launched on, and the time and console it launched on was PS3 and 360. So yeah, it it's uh it's an interesting situation. I'm kind of excited for it. I think I've ever known an era in gaming quite like this. Obviously, gaming generally seems to be turning everybody off, like I said at the top of the show. But I'm keen to keep enjoying the hobby that I've enjoyed for the last however many years. And I'm getting a bit down with the negative, to be fair, but I think that's the way the industry works. It thrives on clickbait negative titles. I mean, you know, with the news that's in at the moment, it's hard to put a show out that doesn't look clickbaity and negative. Um equally so if we stuck to Happy Vibes, we'd probably never get a download. So there's a middle ground to be found, I think, for everybody. I think we paddle it quite well here. Although some would say I'm a toxic asshole. You're you're equally as brose.

SPEAKER_01

But um and I totally totally agree. But um uh yeah, he's it's hard, but just remember we're gamers as well, and it it it drags us down as well. The the current news and situation. And so by all means, I hope GTA 6 smashes. I really do. I'm not one of them negative people who want it to fail, just me personally. I mean, five and four, I was absolutely hyped for pre-order day one, could not wait to pick up my disc. Um, but six, I just don't know. It's in a different climate and a different era of gaming that I don't know is me, and I just hasn't it hasn't gripped me. I I can see people talking about GTA six on YouTube, bits and pieces, and I skip past. It's just not interesting me in it. And it annoys me that it doesn't because I've played all the GTAs, I've loved them, um, played through some, completed them streaming as well. But I don't know, it's just it should do, it should excite me in the current climate. I should be clambering all over this, but I'm just not.

SPEAKER_03

Before we move on, let's circle back to that because the big two, the traditional two that have gone at war since um Sega fell off. Uh Nintendo stepped back and did their own thing and continues to do their own thing. Those two have kind of got locked in a chase of ever decreasing circles, for one of a better word. And I think that's kind of like bled into their products, their chase of PlayStation of free-to-play, which to be fair, is right because you look at the metrics, and young people are playing like Roblox, Minecraft, that you know, they're playing the free-to-play or the freer to play games like Fortnite, etc. And you've got to wonder if like other gaming companies just saying that like we're wasting our time here trying to do the single-player games, they don't really sell like we want them to. People say they want them, but it's a vocal minority again. Do they just need to produce a good Fortnite box?

SPEAKER_01

Um yeah, I think they probably do. I think the if you if you annoy enough of the people with disposable income to the state that the people with disposable income that are casual gamers are stepping away, which they are, um it's gonna be more of the free-to-play games, your your Minecraft, your roadblocks, and young young people at our gamers who are still studying or at school are gonna be buying one or two games a year at max. So you have to be careful who you aim at. They they seem to try to aim at both people for a while, then went, especially Sony with live service, and here we are. And yeah, I think it's a shame, but they know the metrics, apparently, and they know the figures, and they think this is the way forward. They don't seem concerned, they don't seem to care. They basically said this is what's happened, deal with it, which is fine.

SPEAKER_03

Like I said last week, we're rearranging the chairs on the Titanic right now. Yeah, and it the boycotts, the trying the double down on buying used physical copies only, like who cares? Like Sony won't notice that.

SPEAKER_01

No, and so you know, unless they're firm, it's up to them to do it, it's not for us to tell them how to run their business. Um, but you probably will lose a percentage of your your customers um through that. But to where? Huh? Where to? Um I don't think they'll go anywhere because quite a bit of their percentage of people are probably casual gamers who are just gonna step away. I would imagine watch Netflix. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Um so okay, one more question for you on the back of this topic, if I may be so bold. Is that why you and I are finding a happy refuge nine times out of ten on the switch?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, um, I was talking to Captain about this the other day, he's just picked up a switch too.

SPEAKER_03

Um Well done, Captain Skynet.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and he uh he loves it. He's over the moon with it. And I said to him before, I said, and we've said this hundred times on the show, I don't want to keep going on. That's taking the compromise out of the way for now.

SPEAKER_03

For now, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

The the the switch one was awesome, but it was compromised. You've got weaker ports, and you had you always had a switch as well as another console, or a lot of people did. Yeah, um, now that's my main console. My switch two is my main console, and it's just so handy to have your big games on there, and then if you're going anywhere for the weekend, take it out, put it in a case, carry on playing your games. That's that hybrid factor, but now graphically powerful that's really brought it up to speed. And they've just chugged along doing their own thing, you know. Like we said, you know, virtual key cards, oh god, they're the end of the world. They're not they're not now, are they? People are quite enjoying the virtual key cards because they're still something physical you can trade in. So with that, they're ticking along doing their own thing, not getting involved in any of this rubbish, and I like them for it. I like picking up Switch games that are boosted on your Switch 2, I like picking up you know, Switch 2 games that are coming out. Yes, they've been a bit slower coming out, but they're still getting a bigger selection now, and you're getting your bigger games or your Final Fantasies and stuff coming out. So, yeah, I think I've said this before, I buy I buy EAFC every year, or was FIFA every year because me and a mate play every Friday and have done for nearly 10 years. Um if a 60 FPS on the Switch 2, this will be the first year I'm not buying it on PlayStation. If a 60 FPS on a switch 2, I should buy the Switch 2 version for the first time. So that sort of says where I are with where I am with PlayStation, because again, I can just it'll be as playable as the PS5 port, but it'll be portable. So I will I will go with that.

SPEAKER_03

Tell me where you are on this next bit of news.

SPEAKER_01

Next up from Pure Xbox, this is from Craig Reed and Fraser Gilbert. So they're obviously working together now. I think it's ever since they got into the vintage bike uh restoration, they've obviously got a tandem, so they've been they've been studying while whilst riding round the village together. So fair play, Fraser. Fair play Fraser. Who's the front rider? Oh, Fraser.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. So Fraser's almost got to dedicate his back to Stephen. Uh no, who's the other person that we're talking about here? Craig, Craig's at the back, but Craig's Craig's using Stephen's back as a as an easel almost to write his literary words on.

SPEAKER_01

You know, like how I have my laptop and we record on this stand. He puts one of them in a in a lot of the back of a rucksack, so he's typing away because Fraser's got cast lot capes, so he can just power along while Craig's at the back. So what's Fraser writing on, or is he sort of like he's he's he's he's like um he's um he's dictating, isn't it? That's the word dictating to him as they're going along. So you would you dictator? Um yeah, yeah, I think so.

SPEAKER_03

What sort of what sort of tater would you dick?

SPEAKER_01

Um anything really, not fussy. Jersey Royal? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. I think all roosters. Roosters are good because they've got a bit more length to them. Why did you hold back? Why not go all in on that?

SPEAKER_03

You know.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I was getting drawn into your world and I don't feel comfortable. What's my world? I think everyone knows your world. Just watch the uh latest reel on uh on TikTok or on Instagram, you'll find out George's world. Um so anyway, uh Craig and Frank.

SPEAKER_03

I don't know what my world is. I want you to describe it so much. You know very I don't know what my world is.

SPEAKER_01

Honestly, if we could go inside your head, that'd be like going into psychonauts. There's a hell of a lot going on, but no one understands it. I don't understand it. I know you don't. Bless your little heart. I know you don't.

SPEAKER_03

If I could describe how I move around the world, it feels like I'm like controlling a puppet of my own body.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that that is quite visible. Yeah, that is quite visible.

SPEAKER_03

Shall we harmonise our hmms three, two, one? Now, what Digital Munkery just did is he put his portable Bluetooth

Halo Studios Layoffs Or Contractor Shift

SPEAKER_03

speaker underneath his widow maker, and we just Hummed him into a whole new world of pleasure.

SPEAKER_01

Anyway, pure Xbox, uh, Craig and Fray says Halo Studios suffered job losses shortly after campaign evolved launch. Update Xbox source says they're not layoffs but external contractor shifts.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, that's okay. I didn't realise. That's fine. I'm on board for that.

SPEAKER_01

Oh god, that is such corporate speak. If we change the name, it doesn't sound as bad. Oh my god. Anyway, update it obviously uh as a recording today, 7th of August. Um, a source of Xbox has apparently been in touch with Gamesbeat to clarify what's going on here, telling the outlet that these job losses weren't actual layoffs, but rather external contractor shifts that happen after a game ships. However, Microsoft has not officially commented on the situation as things stand, and the producer quoted below mentions that he was caught up after previously dodging rounds of layoffs, so we're a little confused by it all. In any case, here's what the outlet had to say in their report. Um layoffs have occurred at Halo Studios, and Xbox source told Gamespeed there are often external contractor shifts that happen after a game ships. This is what people are noticing. Microsoft itself has no official comment. Um the original story stated it's been nine days since the release of Halo campaign evolved, a remake we love to slap a 10 out of 10 on it. Wow. Jeez. And now a few employees at Halo Studios have indicated they left the company. The revamped campaign appears to be off to a good start, at least on Xbox, with around 900,000 sales across console and PC. However, despite that early success, several Halo Studios employees have taken to LinkedIn recently to share they are no longer employed by the developer. Whilst we don't know yet the full extent of the supposed layoffs taking place at Halo Studios, producer Nick Treatman described his departure as a tough reality of being in gaming industry right now. After six and a half years working on Halo and dodging just as many rounds of layoffs, it's finally caught up to me. I have nothing but love for Halo and the folks at the studio. This is just a tough reality to the games industry right now. Also affected in the cuts uh by the cuts is Scrum Master Paul Morris, whose LinkedIn profile now bears the open to work banner. Morris said that although his time at Halo Studios will be coming to an end following the successful launch of Halo campaign evolved, he's not done and is looking ahead to what comes next. Every player has a game they'll never forget. That's why I chose this career. I want to help create games and bring smiles to players and create memories they'll carry with them for years. That's what drives me. Today I learned my time at Halo Studios will be coming to an end following the successful launch of our latest game, Halo Campaign Evolved. I know this is one of the most challenging job markets our industry has seen, and I know the road ahead won't be easy. But I'm not done and my purpose has not changed. Caleb Lawrence, a software engineer at Halo Studios, has also updated his profile to display the open to work banner. Halo Campaign Evolved currently sits at an 81 on Metacritic, earning 10 out of 10 review scores from us, VGC, and several other outlets, whilst also receiving much lower scores from IGN, Insider Gaming, and others. It's clearly not an outright success, but it's still a shame to see people who worked on the game now looking for new opportunities. It's also worth reiterating that we don't know the full story here. We're simply reporting on what's being shared publicly. Whether these departures are a part of a wider round of layoffs or simply the result of contracts coming to an end at Halo Studios, it remains to be seen. Yes, so what do you think, George? Layoff? Well, it's my chance to announce a shift.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, you don't need to worry anymore, RGT, because you are gonna be an external contractor shift.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, cool. Thank God.

SPEAKER_03

Thought I was gonna lay you off, didn't you? Is that not what you're doing? No, not at all. It's just an external contractor shift.

SPEAKER_01

Oh right, so I'm out of work and I don't work for you anymore, but that's not I've not been laid off.

SPEAKER_03

Absolutely. I wouldn't do that after you're not sure. Not after everything you've done for the show.

SPEAKER_01

Thank God for that. So I've still got to look for another podcast.

SPEAKER_03

I'm not willing to commit much more than this is an external contractor shift.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, okay. But I won't be on here anymore. But I'm not laid off. Correct. Exactly. Oh, good. Yeah, just so I I understood. Yeah. That scared me for a minute.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Um I'm this is an on-air pivot moment. There's a main pole and I'm dancing around about boy. I was going that way, now I'm going this way. Oh, I'm sick of this dribble. Come on. My hobby's being mercilessly murdered by these absolute dogs, uh, and I'm not standing for it anymore. I think next week we're gonna come at it, we're gonna do our best to find the most positive news. Now I know that doesn't exist out there because no one clicks on good news. Everybody knows that no one buys a paper that says free money and a free dog. They're gonna click on government takes money and banji dog. That's all the that's the only paper they're gonna buy. As humans, we're pretty wired to chase bad news. Well, I'm not standing for it anymore. Uh I love this bloody hobby. And I'm sorry for the people, the contractors that have been externally shifted into the unemployment line, uh, Xbox. I don't think that's good. And I think it hits badly and carries a bit of a uh toxic weight to it when they've brought said external contractors in to hit deadlines to get games gone. I mean, one could argue that the games industry, the games news industry is currently looking for clickbait titles to pour scorn on Xbox and PlayStation. When a game ships or is shipping, you bring in external contractors to hit a deadline. We know that. Those external contractors are contractors. They know they go from one gig to the next. So although this is dressed up, and I'm sorry that those contractors are out of work, if this is the wording and that is the difference here, they weren't paid up members of the team at 343 or wherever this got put through. Um they were brought in to help get the game ready and out on a myriad of consoles, which they've never done before at Xbox, really, with a Halo title. So hang on a minute, we're bringing this to what, we're bringing it to what, bringing it to what? We'll better get some people in here, Brian, because uh we need like we need like separate teams and we're gonna need some we're gonna need to burn the McMartanill fella to get this out. Like it kind of makes sense to me. So maybe these external contractors will just move to the next big game that's being shipped. So I I I feel that a lot of this and us and the industry has got a little bit wrapped up in reporting things a certain way because like I said, no one clicked on free money and free dog, but a lot of people clicked on no money and dog removed. So yeah. Um let's see how that plays out. I'm I'm not overly convinced it's it's something that we should be majorly concerned about. Like I say, I don't diminish or make a mockery of layoffs at all, because behind that, there's a mortgage payment, there's kids to feed, um the guy probably wants his kombucha or whatever it is that these developers drink, right? So whatever, right? Do what you need to do. Go get fat dumb and happy on your kombucha. I don't I'm happy for you. But what I want to see coming out of the industry, and this is where our third bit of news is gonna wheel to, Ninty don't seem to really ever get involved in this. Ninty's a place that, oh, it's just a kid's game, it's a kid's console. I want to feel like a kid, I want to feel carefree and happy when I pick my console up. I don't want to feel like I'm weighed down by the talk of job losses, I'm way down by the talk of digital, I'm way down by the price of games pass. I'm fucking done with it.

SPEAKER_01

Wow. Um I totally agree with you. And also I was gonna say if external contractors are used in every game, why are we not hearing that about it on other games then? Why is there in the need for one news?

SPEAKER_03

Hey, Halo did all right, yeah, it did, but what can we do to drag them down and get people to use about Halo? Well, let's make out loads of people have been shuttered.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Do you reckon people on the Star Fox remake were probably external contractors who got removed afterwards?

SPEAKER_03

Maybe, but it weren't in the news. No, because you know, it's expected that if you bring in external contractors. Oh, I've got my bill to do in the roof. Oh yeah, yeah. I'll tell you what though, if we want to make it, if we want to make it watertight by Christmas, we're gonna have to bring a couple of external contractors in. Roof goes on, you arrive the next day. Hey, Bob, how's it going? Yeah, yeah, good roof's on. Yeah, well, hang on a minute. Have you let Dave and Ian, the roofers go? Well, yeah, mate, we've done the roof. Oh, mate, you're sick.

SPEAKER_01

You laid them off, sick. Scumbag. Yeah, I I I totally agree with you, and we I think I'm not saying it's pure Xbox, I'm sure a lot of sites do this. Um, and I don't know if it's a new thing that because of there isn't a lot of good stuff to write about, they home in on the negatives now. And do you know what I mean? I know that's their job to report it, and Craig and Fraser have done that, that's what they're supposed to do. But do you know what I mean? Let's just talk about games coming out and people enjoying playing them.

SPEAKER_03

You know, if Halo's that's all I want to do on Desperate.

SPEAKER_01

If if Halo's a 10 out of 10, let's talk about Halo. I don't know, we're just to blame because we're talking about it now, but come on, let's talk about games and how we sell it.

SPEAKER_03

I troll sites to bring the I troll the internet to bring the listeners and the viewers. Yes, you just sat down. Look, George is George's tool in business, better pull up a pew, better actually put the console down and watch this video for a change. Are you damn right? Um I think that we need a shift in this. I don't I I try and find positive news stories. At the moment, there really aren't any. Um, not that you could talk about on a show and get some interesting dialogue going with your co-host and leave you at home thinking, yeah, about what George said. Yeah, he might have a point there. Um

Switch 2 Third Party Games Flood

SPEAKER_03

so anyway, we move on because guess what? Here he comes on his white charger. It's Liam Doolin from Nintendo Live coming in, waving the banner of success. Um, Nintendo highlights multiple major third-party releases for Switch 2 in 2026 and beyond Final Fantasy Dustbuds and more. Dustbuds, Dustbloods, call it what you like. Um I've got a I've got a pretty I've got a lawsuit going on with a guy in Turkey fit my teeth. Um think that came out of the dog. Um there you go. Liam Doolan. Um he's been playing with his banjo. Um he's been he's been stringing a high C on that bad boy. It sounds absolutely fantastic. Careful you don't snap me string, Liam. Jesus Christ. There'll be some carnage then, fella. Anyway, let's get into it. Apart from Nintendo reconfirming release windows for multiple upcoming first party titles, its latest financial update has also shared another look at third-party titles releasing on the second half of 2026 and beyond. With games such as Final Fantasy XIV online and Lies of P now available, there are all sorts of other titles to look forward to, including releases of 007 First Light, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4, The Dust Bloods, Final Fantasy VII Revelation, and Resident Evil Code Veronica. Here's a selection of games on the way to the Switch 2 in the coming months and 2027, according to Nintendo's latest round up. Are you sitting down RGT? Because I've wanted to hike you up, fella.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I've been sitting down all show.

SPEAKER_03

Really?

SPEAKER_01

Why don't you think I'm kneeling?

SPEAKER_03

That's how you're contractually obliged to perform the show. But I am an external contractor, so that's why you've been shifted onto a new process. One of your own findings. Have you ordered that, Mumsey? That's why your abs are looking good. I don't know if I should think and look in you in this way, but all I'm gonna say is the show's catchphrase of let the sun hit it. August 26th, Final Fantasy 14 Online is out now. Lys of P complete condition out now. EA Sports Madden NFL, 13th of August 2026, Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Volume 2, which I'll be picking up on Switch to complete that little collection I've got going on there. That comes out 27th of August 2026. Guess what, boys? You wanted a big game for your Switch? On with like a bigger boy. Well, sit down and park your mouth because Elden Ring Times Edition lands on the 28th of August 2026. Oh, George, it's all about August. No, it's not because September 2026, Orbital is going to drop 3rd of September 2026. Ormenutia Wear the Sword. Yeah, that big game's going to all the other consoles 4th of September 2026. One Piece Grand Gourmet, 23rd of September 2026. That's the One Piece cooking game. Yes, you need it. EA Sports FC 27, 25th of September 2026. That's got um, yeah, that's got RGT, wetting and Tom Davies coin pocket, and then Minecraft Dungeons 2 lands on 29th of September 2026. Oh, but George, that's then. What's then? October 2026, Rayman Legends Retold, 1st of October 2026, Dragon's Dog of 2, Dark Horizon, 9th of October. Tales of Eternia Remastered. I doubt that'll be a He-Man game, 16th of October. Final Fantasy Residence, 22nd of October, COD Modern Warfare 4, the remake of a remake of a remake, 23rd of October 2026. But you know what? You want some shooty-shooty gun action on your Switch? There is no better shooty-shooty gun action than that. Hello, Kitty Partyland, that's the game I'm pumped for, 29th of October 26th. November, sounds a bit quiet, but don't worry, you've got Metaphor Refantasio kicking in. December, you've got Dragon Quest Monsters, The Withered World. The Withered Willie. Uh to be announced, 2026. Uh, Dusk Bloods, 007 First Light, Village in the Shade, Stellar Blade, Professor Late in the New World of Steam, Jiu Jitsu Kaisen, Rumble, Servitom, and in 2027, we're going to get Resident Evil Veronica as it's labeled here. I call it Code Veronica. I don't know about Ninja 2, The Uncharted Planet, A Telecareer, Wolong 2, Wings of Ember, and Final Fantasy VII Revelation. Now, we're also seeing things drop like Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remastered, which aren't mentioned, and we're also seeing the third party titles in the aforementioned last week, Deco Tree, Deco Tree smelling legend that is Ocarina. What is this?

SPEAKER_01

I don't know.

SPEAKER_03

Um message on the postcard to UCP Towers, P.O. Box 67815, or maybe just drop something on here if you legitimately want to.

SPEAKER_01

Probably easier. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Is easier. Who writes on paper anyway, apart from these dinosaurs? Yes, I'd write show notes. Yes, so although if you call that a show note, it looks like the scribblings of a man locked in a cellar in the dark. RGT by the psychonauts in his own head as he puppets himself around that darkened abyss. RGT. That is a smorgasbord that should get anyone happy. But they're coming to Switch 2, which primarily wouldn't be the place for these games to land. Yes, he talked to about how there is no compromise anymore. I don't want to pull you up too harshly. There is a bloody compromise, but it's not as bad as it was.

SPEAKER_01

Oh no, no, that's way better than it was. Way better. I think I think for what the switch is doing at the switch to at the moment to PS5 ports, from what I've played, is unless you're side by side doing a comparison, I don't think you'd feel too much difference between them and you wouldn't feel you're losing out. I don't think.

SPEAKER_03

I'm sure there was a two-bit podcast back in the day where people were saying that about the Witcher 3 on Switch versus PS4. But you know, I'm not here to call you a dog. I'm just here to uh say that the Switch 2 needs to make hay while the sun shines, while it's got that technological foot in the door. I think they need to pump the living daylights out of it. And as it continues to sell more and more consoles, I do believe it starts to come to the attention of the studios and their commitment to the console seems to be increasing, not waning. Let's hope that continues. I also would argue that we are we did an episode, have graphics peaked. In a way, I think they maybe have in terms of user acceptance, RGT, like you said, you know, you want it portable, it looks good enough, that'll do. You know, is the world of a thousand pound console to see one more follicle on your character's face worth it at this point?

SPEAKER_01

No, I totally agree with you. I think one, I think we're the the increments are very small, and secondly, uh in the current financial climate, I don't think people want to pay for that small increment. Um I know there is differences between games, but uh but on the original Switch you wouldn't have had these games. Um and you've got the added benefit again of being portable, you know, you've got like Star Wars Outlaws, which you loved, you know, you've played on both, you're quite a good judge for it. You said yes, there is compromises on the Switch too, but you know, graphically, but other than that, you've got the game there and you've got it portable, and you can play out where you want, and I think that's a big selling factor now. I think the the style of the console itself is outweighing uh the the graphical power. I don't know if there is so much arguments about who has the most powerful console anymore. People have now started to get sick of that, and I think people just want good IPs, good games on a decent system that's flexible, and that's the Switch 2, in my opinion.

SPEAKER_03

Uh circling back to some of these games names that I dropped. I mean, 0007 first light, uh, the resis, Final Fantasy Revelation making its way over, um Final Fantasy XIV, which is a big one, Lies of P. These are all sort of big games, sort of last gen, this gen. Are you are you like excited by some of these games on this list?

SPEAKER_01

Well, I've always had I've always had that I've never been an MMO player, but Final Fantasy XIV's always intrigued me. There used to be a lot of stories online and people telling about their experience of thousands of hours of setting up businesses and buying a house and doing the house. And I always thought, oh, it seems a really sort of open Final Fantasy. So I looked into it, I saw a fruit few reviews of this, and they've raved about it on the Switch 2. Very good, decent. Um, the only problem is being a subscription that's £18 a month on the Switch 2. I think it's like £15 a month on other consoles, and I think it's quite a lot of money. You've got to be all in on that game to want to pay £18 a month for an MMO. Now, if you're into that, by all means, it's your money, you enjoy it. But for me, I need to keep the games rolling, you know, it's what we do on here. You don't want me talking about Final Fantasy for the next four years. Um but that but I think it's good with the the newer games coming, your Resident Evil's and your Final Fantasy's all coming over. Yes, I know we said compromising graphically, there is a slight compromise to the more modern systems, but we're getting a very comparable version rather than 10 years later, a very inferior version. We're getting a closer version now. Um, so you don't feel like you're missing out. It feels like a big home console now, rather than just a handheld you can play on the telly, I think. Anyway, so I'm excited about these. I think that's a big list of games coming there. Um, and there's a it's a bit for everyone as well. So fair play Nintendo, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I I've got nothing much more to add. If I can lay back on a sofa and play Indiana Jones in surround sound on my headphones on something that is slightly bigger than my phone, but is as thick as my phone. Um like it boggles the mind. Like maybe I'm wowed by the science of it, but at the same token, I'm having an absolute brick roaring time playing it. Like, yes, I've come away from the Switch a little bit while I was trying to I was playing Odyssey with the wife, and obviously my daughter got me a PlayStation about she's the Starfield was was leaping at me out the out the screen. But both of those experiences probably don't feel as fun uh or as um enjoyable as maybe even my even though I'm aligned it a little bit, Donkey Kong Bonanza, it seems to be a happy place, a place where you can go and enjoy yourself. Now, I know these games range from like Not horror games, really, as you probably did as you probably lump Resident Evil into or an action game. But there's plenty of other fun things in here going as well. One Piece Grand Gourmet is a prime example. Raven Legends Retold is another one, you know, for all the mature games and your big sort of franchises like EA Sports or COD. There's the alternate thing on there as well that brings a bit of colour and light to the situation. So yeah, I mean getting Elden Ring to go on, take on the go, like yeah, I imagine there'll be compromises, but that game launched on PS4, so there can't be that many compromises, can there? So it's an interesting time, it's exciting. I'm pumped, primed, and and ready to rock and roll on what the Switch brings to us. Um I'll be honest with you. Slack sat cutching a bunch of zeros by Wolverine and GTA, to be honest, on PlayStation. Um I'm I'm looking at Xbox wondering what do I do with this? Um so and I you know what, I've enjoyed the Microsoft uh Xbox ecosystem in the past. I really have. Like original Xbox 360 felt new, fresh, exciting, and a little bit dangerous. Um PlayStation commit to the hallmark of quality of single-player action games, which has got them this far. And Nintendo just keep doing the do. I mean, I look back at my Super Nintendo ownership and as example RGT, and there was many a third-party game that I'd have experimented with back in the day, like Super Abrams and things like that, that probably weren't really console specific experiences, but it was nice to try them out. But now in the modern world, we're getting like indie ports, more like simulation strategy games, like I've been eyeing up Fantasy Um Jurassic Park World Evolution 2 on Switch 2, came out a couple of weeks ago. Um that appeals to me. Like, who would have thought playing it on Switch would appeal? But you know, I I think I'm gonna get it for the probably third time now on Switch, so I can play it in my pants on the on the sofa while I finger my Velociraptor around.

SPEAKER_01

Hmm, great image, I must admit. Um clever girl. But yeah, I I'm with you on that. I think by doing their own thing, just keep ticking away, releasing all these games, they're not really commenting or even getting involved in an all-digital future.

SPEAKER_03

Um I just feel happiness coming from them, a slightly more upbeat kind of persona coming from them and from the ecosystem that attaches itself to Nintendo. I'm kind of done with like I want to be uplifted.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, exactly. And I'm with you on that. And it's just nice now that before you'd you'd you'd buy certain games on your consoles and then get your Nintendo IPs on your Switch. Now it's made me want to buy the Switch version over the home console ports. That's a big thing for me. That's that's moved me along to now actually this is my main console. This is my home console and my portable console because the ports are that good. The versions are I shouldn't even say ports now, they're ground up versions built for that system, and a lot of them are coming out on release like the others. So yeah, I've yeah, it's they've done good things. I know Nintendo can be funny in the past with and they still are with their IPs and not really putting discounts on them, but other than that, um, yeah, I think for me it's the place to play now.

SPEAKER_03

Wow, and on that bombshell, I think that draws a line under the news. Um I'm glad we ended with like happy stories. Exactly. And again, we're we're hyping here games that have probably been out for years on every other system and uh and are coming out on those systems as well. So I realize that I'm being a contradictory weirdo as I say these things. I just want to feel like I'm in a happy ecosystem. So from this point onwards, RGT, like I said, we pivoted mid-show.

Choosing Positivity Over Doomscrolling

SPEAKER_03

We're now all about positivity and the fun in gaming. I think it's time to get back to that. I think it's time to get back to that. Yeah, I'm a gamer and I'm having fun. And I don't care about the news. I don't care about the the stories. I just want to hear two overweight, over the hill podcasters wearing matching PlayStation headset headphones, dressed in inappropriate clothes for their age, surrounded by nifnaff and trivia, just waffling on about the game that they enjoyed.

SPEAKER_01

Yep, yeah, definitely. I agree with you.

SPEAKER_03

It's time to I'm not saying we're those guys.

SPEAKER_01

Oh god, no. Um, because I'm way overweight. But it's just nice to um I won't hear a word of it. Yeah, rubbish. Um, it's just nice to see a list of games and sit there and think, oh yeah, I'm quite looking forward to getting that. That's gonna be fun, you know. This one I might pre-order, you know, and you think, yeah, let's get back to enjoying games, looking forward to games again, and uh yeah, yeah, let's do that because um the news as of late has been quite depressing in in the game in front. Um, so we'll we'll try and keep trying to keep positive. So well done, Nintendo.

Discord Housekeeping And Flashback Plug

SPEAKER_01

So do some housekeeping. You want me to do some housekeeping?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I I think we need to just let everybody know where they can go for happiness, and I think that's the Discord.

SPEAKER_01

I definitely think so. Um, we do have a section on Discord to talk about all these stories, but we've put a special bit in now because we didn't want it too negativity in the general nonsense, so we've we've moved to a little bit there. You can just still discuss layoffs and where you think it's going, and everyone has an opinion, so you're quite welcome to do that. But in general nonsense, we've got back to talking games, talking collections, what we've been picking up, what we've been playing. We've got people who love Nintendo Switch, people who love Xbox, people who love PlayStation, they're all people who are platinum hunters, people who are you know achievement hunters, and we're all talking about our games and just having fun. So, yeah, check out Ottafic Controller Podcast Discord, along with many other things we've got. So yes.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. Well, if you choose to follow the show, that's cool. Uh, it's free, it'll always be free, as is its sister show Flashback. So get in on that if you want a slightly retro themed uh journey through an historic year month in console gaming. Uh we report the news as if it's happening today, uh, or we try to. Uh, and it's uh a thoroughly good laugh for everyone who's uh sat around and it's a real nice kind of cozy listen, RGT, because it's only audio, because we we want it to be that cozy feeling, do we not?

SPEAKER_01

Yes, yes. It's at the moment it's just audio, it's it's that retro feel, it's that look back at what Gaiman was in a certain month and a certain year. We look at three articles, we look at what we would have been playing, what we were hoping been playing with a visit from an old show legend called Stingray. Um, and yeah, it's good fun. Last week we were 2009, I believe, which was a great little show, and um surprising how much some of these games have um aged, but like the you know, the show slogan says, Um it's just nice to look back, have fun, nostalgia, and just just enjoy it. So, you know, we always say it's the the games you love, the stories you forgot. So check it out, flashback.

SPEAKER_03

Awesome.

Supporter Shoutouts And Running Jokes

SPEAKER_03

Well, with that pump done, let me give a pump to the people that choose to support us. Um from as little as three dollars a month, you can get on board. And if special georgie offer right now, if you get on board uh supporting the show, follow the link on the audio episode three to Buzz Sprout. You'll find a little place there where you can put the money through in a secure way, thanks to our podcast host BuzzSprout. And if you have supported the show, one of the perks you're gonna get is your name read out. BTW join right now, get a t-shirt immediately, even for three dollars. Now I'll start because that's how we're doing it this week. So I'm gonna start with Gazcom. Uh can only say thank you to this man. I've seen him in real life. He's statuesque, he's intelligent, he's handsome, he's got his olter ego's brother, Shane Kong, who is the literal opposite of everything Gaz is, and that's why he's been shipped off to the Southern Hemisphere, where he can't um sull the family line anymore.

SPEAKER_01

Wow.

SPEAKER_03

Who's next?

SPEAKER_01

Uh thanks, Gazcon, I think. Um next up we have the wonderful I said thank you.

SPEAKER_03

I'm just saying that he is the he is the premium con.

SPEAKER_01

Oh yeah. Oh yeah, without a doubt, yeah. Um we have the wonderful Captain Scarlet Slash Skynet.

SPEAKER_03

I don't want any slash.

SPEAKER_01

The puppet master. You just want you just want Skynet.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Oh well, Captain Skynet.

SPEAKER_03

Let's face the reality.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, well, yeah, he is the puppet master over us.

SPEAKER_03

And I'm loving Captain Skynet is the guy who takes our however long episode, cuts it up into about maybe a minute, and literally has us saying a variety of very uh we never said these on the show, but he manages to clip it around and edit it to make it look like I'd said a a a myriad of very insulting things to people, myself and to my co-hosts.

SPEAKER_01

Um I don't know as I do that, but maybe I'm wrong. I think maybe he's just gonna clip this again and just prove you wrong.

SPEAKER_03

I would clip him clipping you, clipping me, and then stick that on the back of a toilet door with a random phone number and see what happens.

SPEAKER_01

Clipping him clipping me, clipping you, clipping me.

SPEAKER_03

It's like clip inception.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that's confused my little bit.

SPEAKER_03

But I'm thinking like a picture of me, a picture of you, a picture of him on a toilet door in a public uh convenience somewhere, just with a random phone number in Sharpie. I think that's how we maybe get people to sub to the show in future.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, it might get subs, but it's going quite low.

SPEAKER_03

But you know, I'm not asking anyone to get in the knees in now. I'm just asking them to ring the number.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, okay. Sorry, sorry, my bad.

SPEAKER_03

And it's this will be placed like mid-riff or higher. So when you sit on the throne, it's just like a bam, right in your face.

SPEAKER_01

Like cool. Next up is oh no, it's you next, isn't it? I've done thank you, Captain, by the way, for all your work behind the scene. Sorry, thank you. We went off a bit of a tangent there with toilet doors and photos and phone numbers, but thank you.

SPEAKER_03

That's you, that's the influence you spread, the vile, malignant um type aura you bring.

SPEAKER_01

That's because I don't care because I'm only an external contractor, so uh, and can't I tell? Yeah, yeah. Slap happy.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Um steady, steady. Up next, the man who I think probably needs a knighthood. His name's Retro Ed. Not only does he support the show, but he's also one of the nicest people on the internet uh in real life. So thank you to this statuesque individual for his kind support. Thank you, Retro Ed. You are thank you, Ed. Quite honestly, everything I aspire to be in a man.

SPEAKER_01

Without a doubt. Next up, we have the one man, George Fan Club Carlos. What an absolute legend. Oh man, I I stand corrected.

SPEAKER_03

A week ago, I said if you assemble a load of gamers in the gaming area, there's gonna be an overriding smell of yeast. Let me tell you, Carlos was the shining light. He's the exception. He smelled like freshly cut grass.

SPEAKER_01

It was just when we met him, you had this sort of yeasty waft, and then we just got this sort of line of pack of raban come through the room room, and you thought does it smell like freshly cut grass?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that would explain a lot of things.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and I just thought, yeah, Carlos is here.

SPEAKER_03

Nice, thank you, Carlos. Thank you for being my one man, George Franklin. Without you, I wouldn't even be Internet famous. I would be watched by my mum and assembled family members on a Sunday after songs of praise.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Right.

SPEAKER_01

Anywho, who's yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Well, thanks to Carlos, we're not that personal. Yeah, no, definitely not. Nope. Up next, firm returns, a man whose financial advice over on X will take you from being a bottom feeding nothing with nothing but a couple of spent pennies in your back pocket to owning the entire world and having Elon Musk as your personal valet within 24 hours. That's firm returns. He's FCA approved. Not that my comments are, but he would definitely legitimately take you from Trump to Trump in a week.

SPEAKER_01

Without a doubt. Thank you, firm returns. Next we have I still haven't changed this on here, so I think it is cornerhouse.

SPEAKER_03

And you've still got Gascom's name wrong.

SPEAKER_01

I have, yes. Uh still have um, sorry, I still have them as trestles, but they are now cornerplace. Is that correct?

SPEAKER_03

Corner House. The home of the UCP in the United States.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, sorry, corner house. I do.

SPEAKER_03

And they reached out and said if the sponsorship isn't enough, free black coffee to everyone who comes in and shows a copy of the UCP on their phone to Corner House at checkout. So and if they don't believe it, play them this clip and tell them that they are contractually obliged due to some form of legal wrangle associated with the former establishment that was Trestles.

SPEAKER_01

Wow, yeah, cool. So thank you, Cornerhouse, very kind.

SPEAKER_03

Um, if they don't pay you, all saying to you, Corner House is lawyer up, bitch.

SPEAKER_00

Oh dear, oh dear. Yeah, oh dear.

SPEAKER_01

Um who we got next then, George?

SPEAKER_03

There's a man here that I have to say is in my eyes a legend. He's been with us pretty much since the show started. His name's Rose Space Monk. He's been an avid supporter, he's been an avid follower. And not only that, he's a wonderful human being with a wonderful family. Thank you, Doogie, for everything that you do and have done for the show. Um, I hope you're doing well and hit me up, assap, um, because I miss you.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Thank you. Yeah, thank you, Road Space Monk. Next up, we have Bada Bing Star. Bernard Fronzo, Bern, Bern. One of the most stylish men on the Discord. Oh, he looks so cool.

SPEAKER_03

He'll take a t-shirt and and and just by him wearing it makes me demand it. And I've now filled my um uh genuinely filled my wardrobe with kind of big back piece tees because I saw him cutting about in Norwich and I was like, This genuinely, this guy is literally the slickest dude I've ever seen in my life.

SPEAKER_01

And he's one of the kindest as well. The amount of times he's in Listener's Stingray where he's out game hunting and he'll see something because he knows what everyone loves. You know, this week he saw some Turtles figures and he was straight away boba and ginged. Do you need these? I'll pick them up while I'm here. You know, it's the sort of guy he is, you know, he's always thinking of everyone else. Love it to Bits Badabin's absolute legend.

SPEAKER_03

What a great bloke. He's the sort of man that even though he's finished, he sticks around until you are. Yeah, that's what I was thinking.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I don't think you can take that away from someone. As I've said several times, a lot of our listeners, in fact, all of our listeners, are vigorous yet generous lovers. I was thinking that as well. Up next, the man who needs no introduction, but he's gonna get one anyway. It's Tingle Tuna. Um, a living legend, a man who looks like a pro football player, yet he's just a normal guy. He's got that sort of mythos and gravitas around him that makes him look like a celebrity. His skin is perfect, his hair is perfect, the way he holds himself is perfect. I tell you what, if I was Mrs. Tuna, I'd be all over this ball like a rash. I mean, I mentioned syphilis on her Matlow earlier, but I I want to come up with something slightly more romantic. So I'm gonna say she's like red on roses all over him, and I don't blame her, because I tell you what, if I swung that way, I'd be all over him too. I don't swing that way, and I still am. I love him. He's a man who can take a 3DS and collect for it and make it look like David Attenborough's walking with mammals.

SPEAKER_01

I can't agree more with everything you've said. Absolutely perfect. You just give the perfect picture of the man. So thank you, Tingle Tuna. Um, next up we have Well, he does challenge accepted. He does Let's Get Quizzical. He's uh the deputy sheriff, or no, I'd say he's I'd say he's there's two sheriffs of that Discord, and he's one of the Winchester Boys! I was about to say that because they were even they were discussing on there this week. Um how did that name come about? The we're the Winchester boys. You don't need to worry, you just are the Winchester boys. But I know it's off one of your favourite TV show ever, Boba, so it makes it even more better. So uh yeah, thank you very much, DM.

SPEAKER_03

What's his favourite TV show ever? Because I can tell you for a fact that comment canning from unfortunately Gold Rush, the documentary based in Alaska following several gold mining families.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, um, that's the the two brothers who are the ghost hunters. Um I've come that's one of Mrs. RGT's favourite shows as well. I can't remember what it's called, but they're called Winchester Brothers.

SPEAKER_03

So uh that's not where it came from, but if you want that to be the story, you can have it be that.

SPEAKER_01

You've now made me question me whether they are actually called the Winchester Boys, but I've the Wanchoster boys on that show, I think you'll find. Um why can't I remember what the show's called? Anyway, yes, thank you, DM.

SPEAKER_03

It's detectorists, but with ghosts.

SPEAKER_01

Oh dear, yeah, that's the British version. Am I wrong? You you god, it's your turn next. That's funny, though.

SPEAKER_03

Up next. A man that has had his flesh trench walked through and talked about more times than is actually decent. You know, would you like me to talk about your flesh trench like that, RGT? Every week.

SPEAKER_01

Every day.

SPEAKER_03

Well, I refuse to. I don't want to be dragged into your pernicious little vicious sex games anymore. Um I've had my hair pulled by you and your good lady wife more times than I've had up dinners, and I'm sick of it. All right, I'm sick of it now.

SPEAKER_01

I'll be honest with you, we don't care. Just deal with it.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, well, I'm here to pump up Bald Border. I'm probably gonna get behind him and pump him real good because let's lift him up on our shoulders and say, Thank you for supporting us, Bald Border. You oh my god, now I've lifted you up in the air like this fella. I'm actually looking directly at the flesh trench, like literally millimetres away, and I'll be honest with you. This is the way my brain works. I'm tempted to lick it. I'm gonna put you down. Thank you for all you do. Who's next, RGT?

SPEAKER_01

Starting to realise how low this show's gone now. It's slow.

SPEAKER_03

No, no, no. We're contractually obliged to do it this way. If anyone doesn't want it done this way, the messaging was stopped immediately. We tried that, and the show was about as popular as uh a Bible in a mosque.

SPEAKER_01

Next up, we have the man we're just talking to, and by the way, that was they were the Winchester brothers, and that was Supernatural, the name of the show. Supernatural. There you go. Dean and Sam.

SPEAKER_03

Detectorist, Ghost Detectorist.

SPEAKER_01

Yep. Um, yeah, so next up we have the wonderful Boba, who again is one of the Winchester boys, and again is one of the sheriffs of the Discord. And um it's so nice having those guys in the background there when things do need changing, away they go and they just sort things out. And that's nice to just see all this being managed because me and George aren't the most tech savvy people. We might be gamers and we might do a podcast, but he's uh he's on a what what were you running an IBM? I'm on a C64 with a web adapter, so we're not the most tech happy people. So um to have people like that in the background doing work for us, you know, as volunteers is absolutely brilliant. So as always, Boba, thank you very, very much.

SPEAKER_03

Nice up next, that means I get to have my son, my red-headed stepson. I don't know if that's legal, but I'm gonna have him anyway. Um you know, this week he got in touch. He said to me, George, you know, father daddy Papa Mine father. I said yes. What's wrong, my ex my ex-red-headed stepson? I still love you like my own, even though me and your good lady me and your good mother have parted ways 30 years ago. Um come sit, let me stroke you, let me touch you, let me smell you. Anyway, he's been telling me that he has entered the Red Bull soapbox race.

SPEAKER_01

Oh wow.

SPEAKER_03

Yep. Except what we don't know is he's also learnt the ability to transform. So he's literally just going to hold a couple of wheels in his hands and he'll transform from physical beam off man into what looks like a Porsche 911.

SPEAKER_01

Wow.

SPEAKER_03

And the Winchester boys are going to climb inside him and rag him down that hill.

SPEAKER_01

That's an image. Thanks, Ging. Thanks, Ginge. Next up, we have the most glorious looking Lord of Darkness ever. The man who's looks like a movie star, podcaster, YouTuber, works in a podcast studio, which is just immaculate, looks gorgeous, very professional. Our very own Gary Oldman, that's Harvey Retro. As always, thank you very much.

SPEAKER_03

He's a professional podcaster in a studio for his full-time job, and he listens to this to make sure that none of his shows really like get this low on production volume. Fair play.

SPEAKER_01

Fair play. I mean, he probably uses as a.

SPEAKER_03

You've got to know what bad is, so you can make good.

SPEAKER_01

He probably uses as an advisory video. This is what not to do. UCP play.

SPEAKER_03

Thousand percent. That's exactly what he does. Um, either which way, hopefully, we're in his ears on his way to work or at work, and he and we've elicited a wry smile from that sexy little devil. Thank you, Harvey. Yeah, thank you. Next, a lady I love to thank. A lady I love to thank. It's my living honour to sit here right now and say thank you to Emma Sharp for all you've done for the show. You saw a spike here, there, and everywhere over the last 12 months, and you got all over it. You pumped the show here, abroad, everywhere. You represent the show by wearing the t-shirt. What more could we ask of another listener? We couldn't. Emma, thank you.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, brilliant. Thanks, Emma. Um, next up we have Greg. Well, where did we go last week? South or north? Can't remember.

SPEAKER_03

We we did north. We we did south last week. We did it to a west steps. West steps is not there. Okay, so he's nowhere near the Aztec temple. We've cleared that up. We've cleared that. And now we need to expand to the surrounding, yeah, we need to expand to the surrounding jungle area. We do, yeah. So I might I might a bit off more that I can chew because it represents several million square kilometres of rainforest.

SPEAKER_01

We'll just have to work our way through it however long it takes. But like I say, all we do know is he's nowhere near Berlin. Thank you, Greg.

SPEAKER_03

And he's nowhere near the Aztec Temple.

SPEAKER_01

No. But his name's Texas. Or he's not near to it. He's not nowhere near it, but he's not near it. No, he's nowhere near Berlin, but not quite near the Aztec temple. Greg.

SPEAKER_03

Thanks, Greg. Um if you've thanked him, that leaves me the ability to thank our mumsy. Yes. You've seen all the co-hosts of the show, me, Seb, Bobby, RG, T, and Scott and OG. And you're thinking, how is the mum how is she mumsy? Well, she is. Don't question the magic. Um got a little bit poor taste in men, obviously. Um, but you know, she's looking for love. But you know, doesn't mean she can't find it, she keeps searching.

SPEAKER_00

Exactly.

SPEAKER_03

And to be fair, one of her other brood is set to mature very soon. So maybe we bring them into the podcast. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, good idea.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Thank you, Mumsy. Thanks, Mumsy. Next up, I have the pleasure thanking the RGT fan club, as always. Long-term supporters, long-term viewers, long-term downloaders. So uh thank you very much as always for your sub continued support on everything. Just get them in the Discord, that's what I need to do. So, yes, thank you, the RGT fan club.

SPEAKER_03

Up next, Pete, the true man, the true name of this man is Pete Brathurst. Uh, except there was a mix-up when he had his name registered as a child, and they thought that his father drunkenly said Brocklehurst. He's not only that, he's the strongest man you've ever seen, and he looks and smells like a German sausage.

SPEAKER_01

Thank you, Pete. Next up, we have the yeast moister himself, Billy Marmite. Thank you very much, Billy, as always.

SPEAKER_03

The literal coagulation of a gamer's fantasy.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah, without doubt. You see, that's what we've got to keep an eye out for now, you see, because we don't know if he's ever been to a show to see us, but we might be able to smell him. So thank you.

SPEAKER_03

I don't know how this has worked out, but I've ended up with a geef, so I will do the geef. You will tell me what the geef is, and then we're gonna get out of here. So are you ready for this one? Go.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, that was angry. Oh, I reckon this was after all this week's bad news. You read the Nintendo news, and suddenly you started getting real excited by reading all these games that are coming out on your favourite on your new favourite little system.

SPEAKER_03

It was that, but then I also had been walking around with my shoe and thought that had a stone in it, and I did.

SPEAKER_01

What and you got a little geef off it?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Wow. It doesn't tell a lot for you nowadays, does it?

SPEAKER_03

I I think to be honest, it was almost like acupuncture, like it just honed in on a certain sort of like pressure point, and it just milked it out of me while I was looking at the Nintendo news.

SPEAKER_01

You almost they were combined but not necessarily linked. You should be on like one of them doctors or hospital programs as a serial geefer. You can't help it, you just geef all the time all day, and that just ruins your day because you're just constantly geefing all over the place.

SPEAKER_03

Um, I'll be honest with you, I'm dripping in geef, but I don't see it as a criminal act.

SPEAKER_01

No, no, I don't, I'm not saying it's a criminal act, I'm just saying some people can't help it and it just ruins their day a bit because it just you know you're just constantly geefing, you maybe need a bit of help to no mate.

SPEAKER_03

I wear two pairs of pants and I put a lot of wadded toilet paper in the front area of my pants. So to be honest, even if I do multiple geef, although I might stand in the middle of the road and shiver for 30 seconds, there is no seepage or leakage.

SPEAKER_01

Well, you thought about it, I'll give you that.

Next Week Plans And Sign Off

SPEAKER_01

Absolutely.

SPEAKER_03

What are you hoping to play?

SPEAKER_01

Um, more deaf and Nile, more far lands, more rogue flight, um, and probably a bit more on my um Evocade. So I completely forgot the name then. I shouldn't do, because it's the best deal in retro gaming. Um yeah, uh Mark and style of the show ends up in jeopardy. Yeah, so what about you, George?

SPEAKER_03

Um, I'm gonna be playing a little bit more Donkey Kong Bonanza, I'm gonna be playing a little bit more Starfield, see if my curiosity can take me to a point of happiness. Um, also, you know, message in below if I need some pointers on how to make this game a little bit more intuitive, a little bit less stark to menu to go in inventory or map. Uh, if there's a way to bypass that and make it feel a little bit more um in universe, I'll be buzzing with that. Um, and obviously, more than likely, I'm gonna get behind the can of zero guineas and probably play a crap ton of AC, obviously. So I'm LP, I'm enjoying gaming. Um probably gonna have a little bit of a seductive moment or two laid on my back prone with the Switch 2. Might even take it outside. Might do. Um, but as gamers, we we we we we we shun the sun. And I think with that, I'd say bombshell, but well-known fact about gamers, they stink in their pasty. Um, so that's all we have time for this week, listeners. As always, thank you for the time. And we look forward to the pressure of speaking through again next week. Until then, happy gaming. And remember, there's nothing wrong with being given the official controller, it's what you do with it that counts. Get that fact to 50 on RGT. See you soon. Later, see everybody.
