Uncharted Returns?
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Sony just dropped a late-generation curveball, and it could change how a lot of PS5 games look and run. We unpack QSSR, the refined AI upscaling tech coming to the base PlayStation 5, and why Digital Foundry’s early results (especially with Marvel’s Wolverine) have people asking a bigger question: is this a genuine performance boost for everyone, or a sign Sony wants to stretch the PS5 era longer while PS6 timing shifts?
From there, we get into the rumor we can’t stop thinking about: a new Uncharted game at Naughty Dog with Nathan Drake not leading the charge. We talk franchise endings that actually felt complete, the risk of running a beloved series into the ground, and why studios still lean on familiar IP when modern AAA budgets make “new ideas” feel like a gamble. If you’ve ever loved Uncharted and worried about the Halo effect, you’ll want to hear where we land.
Then we tackle the Xbox speculation straight on. Leadership says Xbox is not for sale, and we break down why that’s more believable than the rumor mill suggests, from Microsoft cloud infrastructure to Game Pass commitments and how hard it would be to untangle the brand. We also zoom out on where the console market is heading, with hardware like Project Helix sounding more like a PC-style platform play than the old box-war era.
We also hit what we’ve been playing on Switch 2, including Star Wars Outlaws, eFootball Kickoff, Witcher 3, and Shadow of Mordor, plus a quick heads-up on the Lottwick Hill giveaway. Subscribe, share the show with a gaming mate, and leave a review so more people can find us.

Welcome And Week’s Big Headlines
SPEAKER_03Hello and welcome to unofficial controller podcast, your weekly gaming podcast. Episode number 338 with me, George, in this week joined by RGT, QSSR to my queasy loser. Um before you go, George, not another that's a bad bounce, fella. Don't click off, don't, because as I said, 300 and some odd episodes must be getting something right, or literally be punishment, whatever we are, gluttons for punishment. Um, but we've got some Sony news coming up about the QSSR, and that's where that joke came from. We've got rumours, and we don't do rumours here, so I don't know how this got in the news, but rumours of an uncharted game. And is Xbox for sale? Ooh, one would hope not. With all that said and done, I welcome you to enjoy yourself. Sit down, make yourself comfortable, because this is your all-in-one, all-encompassing gaming suite. So you can sit down and relax as I turn to my esteemed co-host RGT. Um, looks like you're filming in a funeral parlor this week, so that's an interesting take on events for me. Um, how are you doing, friend?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, thank you. Live coming from the morgue. Um it's uh giving it the full savil. I was hoping it'd be done this week, it's not quite there, so blame Amazon. And yeah, just don't put that in the uh clip show, please. Captain. Um, I'm very well, thank you. Oh good.
SPEAKER_03Um well with all that said and done, we I mean, I'm contractually obliged and pay motivated to ask you what what have you been playing this game in week?
Star Wars Outlaws On Switch 2
SPEAKER_00Uh some more Star Wars Outlaws. Um really enjoying that. I got a bit confused with the time clock on it because according to my switch, I've put like 12 hours in, but according to the clock on in-game, I put about six in. So that must when I leave the switch on, that must count that as time played, I suppose. But yeah. Um yeah, still really enjoying it. Um great game. I've now transferred my switch to into here, so I've got a little mini 4K gaming monitor, and it looks so good on there. It's almost like playing on a CRT. It gives it that film look now. Really, really good. Really enjoy.
SPEAKER_03What do the dead people make of it?
SPEAKER_00I don't know, do they? No. I hope they don't know. You know, use the odd hand as controller holder. So um Wow Yeah. Wow, so you did give it the full Savel, no issues at all. Jeez, that's twice. My god. I want it in the eclipse show. We're gonna be taking off the air here. Um, yeah, so yeah, really enjoying that. Like I say, it looks on that little screen, 4K screen, that letterbox mode, that is just so like a movie. It really is. That's you know, I'm really enjoying the game. Um I'm still getting to grips with sort of upgrade systems and bits, still learning that, but it's not a chore. I'm enjoying learning that. Um, I've just I've upgraded my speeder and I left the planet for a bit and had to fight some um TIE fighters and then come back down again after that.
SPEAKER_03What do you think about the um ship controls when you're in space? Because obviously you've got movement tied to your right controller, I think, and speed tied to your left thumbstick, and uh I get a little bit kind of upside down when I get up there, and yeah.
SPEAKER_00With me, um I'm so used to the plan, I love all them sort of dogfighting space shooter games, and most of them do that. And I'm used to it, and I wouldn't say that, but um, for me it was just natural. I think the controls in them ships is perfect. I absolutely love it, really good. Yeah, really good. That was I surprised me because I thought the ship sort of dog fighting would be a bit of a bolt-on to the game, but they've actually coded that well. That's it's really good. It's a real sort of um capable shooter, really. I really enjoyed that, and that was great fun. So I'm hoping there'll be more of that in the game. Um, but yeah, I haven't played as much as I thought I was gonna play, but I have enjoyed it. Um, I've also downloaded on recommendation from Captain Skynet um eFootball kickoff.
SPEAKER_03Oh the ISS superior grandfather grandson, I presume.
SPEAKER_00Yes, the other eFootballs were ropey at best. Um, but this is a switch to exclusive, so they've built it for the ground up for the switch to it's $14.99, so it's cheap. Um, and you start off with that familiar lineup of your Master League team with Miranda and Castello and all them players are on there, which is a nice little nod. And they've now added league mode onto it, a free update. Um yes, it's a smaller game than EAFC, or formerly FIFA. Um, it's not as much content crammed in. I don't think that's a bad thing. Um gameplay wise, this is probably a bold claim, in my opinion, it's better than EAFC. Wow, the granddaddy of them all comes back to show everyone how it's done. It plays really well. Also, EAFC 27 on the Switch 2 is 30 FPS, this is 60, so it's smooth as silk. Um the only thing I've noticed which isn't quite as good is when you have like a cutscene when you score the goal, you get a little bit of artifact and round the players, but that's enough, and I don't really mind that. But the actual gameplay is cut back from EAFC, but it just plays so well, it's more realistic. Um I just really enjoy it. I knock it down, you can do the game speed. So it starts obviously on naught, I go to minus two just to slow it down like a proper game. I'd recommend anyone doing that, just bring it down to a normal sort of proper speed of a football match, and it's really good. And they've got a world tour mode on there, which is similar, a similar way it plays to like NBA Street. So you you play a team, you get three players to start with. I think you get messy, then you've got the rest of the old Master League team, and you you go over to a different country and you'll play like five league games. And if you win that mini league, well, each team you beat, sorry, you get to choose one of their players to keep for your team, and then you win that league, and you keep working up and you rank you up as well as a player, and you can upgrade, and as you go, you get at the end of each game, you can turn over some coins. These coins go towards buying players in a little mini transfer market area, and you can buy legends, there's like bird camp and people like that on there, um, and it's really good fun. And I think for $14.99, this is a steal, really is a steal, you know. And I still haven't bought EAFC 27's out and I haven't bought it yet. I probably will buy it because me and my mate we play our career modes on there, but if this if this added the big career mode like EAFC had on it, I wouldn't be buying EAFC anymore. That's what I think of eFootball. Very impressive, very impressive game. So uh I'd recommend it to anyone. Um also I had my mate round for a bit of a game night last week. Um, we played Terminator 2D, no fate. Um I've played it obviously before. He hadn't played it, so I said, right, let's play that. We had a run through on there, done the completion of that. Uh he loved it, thought that was absolutely brilliant. He's a big fan of Terminating. He said it is quite uh reminiscent of how the world's going today with AI. Um, but we had great fun playing that. Still an awesome game, 2D No Fate. Um, I still think graphically that pixel art on that is stunning, so good. And then we had a bit of a play around on Nintendo Online. So we play Bit of Streets Rage 2, Golden Axe, just had a mess about with a few of the games on there, which his his PS5 gamer, he's got a Switch OLED, but he's a PS5 gamer with PS Plus. But he's thinking of giving the PS Plus up and getting Nintendo Online because he said the amount of games not on there and he loves his retro, and but not necessarily a collector that sort of fits in well with his sort of his gaming life, really. So I can see him him doing that.
SPEAKER_03So nice. He would be excluded from what GameCube only, or is there a couple of other things that are excluded from the Switch One these days?
SPEAKER_00Um I think it's GameCube. I don't know if it's any more, I'm not quite sure, but Okay, interesting. Anything else that you want to uh tickle our fancy with? No, that is pretty much it. Sorry, I waffled on a bit there, but that is No, you don't need to apologise.
SPEAKER_03Not to me, not to anybody. You're looking great, you're smelling great. I mean, the cadaver stench is a little strong, but it is what it is. Exactly, yeah. Yeah, um, it's better than you normally smell, like your typical game of smell. Yeah, um the Eastie Boys, yeah, they freaking stink. Um I will I will now um regale to you what
Wolverine Impressions And Value Debate
SPEAKER_03I've been playing. I know you don't want to hear it, but I'm gonna tell you anyway. Oh, we do work. So I'll finish Wolf. Oh, do you? Mm-hmm. Okay. No, that's some angst, didn't there? That's knocked you off paste a bit there, well, I just you know, I'm just trying to gather my thoughts. Um, so I've been I finished Wolf Ring. Oh I what do you think? I actually really enjoyed it. There was like right towards the last hour or so, it was a little bit like we've just got to kill these guys now and get through it. Um, the inevitable boss fight was interesting, went down a bit easier than I thought, but then I've got a load of skills now compared to when I first fought Red Amiga at the start. So yeah, and actually when the credits rolled, I turned to my good lady wife, Rachel, and I was like, that was actually quite good. She was like, Yeah, I really enjoyed that. Um, some post-credit scenes to stick around for those. But yeah, I think it was worth every penny I paid, especially when you hold it up against something like Miles Morales, which people sort of walk through on a wicker bed chair uh at the start of the PS5 generation. This is equally as good a game as that, if not better, and slightly longer as well. So you could argue value for money-wise, up there. Um, obviously, I'm not gonna tell you that the bike sections aren't a bit duff, they are. I think overall I'd probably give it maybe an 8 8.3, something like that.
SPEAKER_00So I was gonna say to you, so all the criticism it's getting and has got, is it justified or not?
SPEAKER_03Absolutely not. No, and I think the sales of this game back that up. Now, like I say, I am not a Marvel nerd. I like the Marvel films, I've picked up the odd comic in my time, and I'm not a Wolverine nerd, like I've watched the movies, and that's about as deep as I go. But I loved everything that was presented to me as Wolverine, the emotional connection with Gene Grey. There was like a dream sequence at the end, and obviously it uses the um SSD to make sure that you can change clothes and change environments really quickly, which really added to the effect of being in this kind of not dream, I don't want to give away a little bit too much, but it it was an interesting way of dealing with it. Um, and the way you transition through that, not necessarily on terra firma, but on the side, which was the floor but was the sides, was actually quite clever. All in all, I found it quite good. Um, the enemies sort of get more um challenging as you go through. So, people saying that you're fighting through the same cast of characters all the time, that's not that's not totally correct. There are some variants that get squeezed in at the end which challenge you and your newly acquired skill set. Um, I did think when I finished it though, actually quite hyped to do that on a new game plus. I've got some more suits to collect, I've got some other bits of challenges to do. Maybe a plat? I it's achievable, it is. Um, I think I've platted every other Insomniac game that they've brought out, so maybe not Ratchet and Clank, but definitely Spider-Man 1 and 2, Spider-Man Remastered, uh, and Miles Morales. So yeah, I'll be keen to look into that. They never make it too too challenging, it's all doable stuff. So yeah, I'm not a plat chaser, but maybe just through and again, like Spider-Man remastered and bits and bobs, I've always kept it on the hard drive. Um, and I think Molverine will be the same, pop it on for 10 minutes, you know, pick the controls up again pretty quickly, and you'd be away. Um, the other game I've played, and I've already messaged Seb ahead of time to let him know that officially the Witcher 3 will be in the Ponces for like the third or fourth year running, and quite rightly so, because we had the remastered version drop on the 30th. Um, look, I've played that on PS5 Pro, no issues. I've played it on the Switch 2 as well, as I call it the Switcher. Um, obviously, it's way more impressive on the Pro, but you know, talk about an improvement versus the Switch 1 version of the Witcher 3 base that we got. This thing is the grass textures are there, there's no forests loading in as you're riding around on your horse. They've done a reasonably good job to the point where you half don't realise what they've changed. You just go in and it feels like it's always been like that. So I kind of appreciate that on the Switch. Um again, I was in the Blood and Wine or wherever it was, so I was off in Tucson, so the graphical comparison was hard. So I took myself back to the hanging tree, hangman tree, and was like, yeah, okay, immediately I can see it now. Um, because Tucson's got a lot of gaudy colours in it, and it kind of washed the palette out a bit to make it feel like you're in the sun. Um it's kind of a Mediterranean-based area, so yeah, no complaints. Looking forward to getting stuck into that, and there's a surprise here. Shasper also released um Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War um for the Switch. And I I'm doing this a lot. I forgot I'd pre-ordered them on the Switch store because I think they're only digital, right? And uh I went on it the other day and it was like flashing at me, not enough room on the hard drive. I was like, oh yeah, of course. Damn, gee, shit. I bought those, didn't I? Fine. Deleted some stuff, downloaded it. Um, I'll be honest. I forgot how much I enjoyed that. Uh and me and Rachel sat up last night playing that through. Um, kind of got a lot of the first section done. It looks great on there.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I've never I've never played them, and I meant to ask you because I thought you'd more likely pick these up. Um, and I I hummed and hard myself, but I thought now I'm gonna wait, speak to you, see what you think, whether you think I'd like these games or not. They've always intrigued me a bit, these games.
SPEAKER_03Great game to have on the Switch, great game to like take away as we're going away this weekend. So if we can find a TV at the place, I'll take my doc. If not, I'll just drop my little kickstand down and we'll play it. Visuals are great, audio is good. Um same game, so you know, you don't be expecting a ramp up of everything, but it looks better. I played it on PS3, it definitely looks 100% better than that. Um, comparable, if not better, to the time I played it on PS4 as well. So, yeah, no complaints. Still the same great gameplay. I do always people always rave about the nemesis system, but I kind of find it quite frustrating because you're kind of fighting a guy, you're fighting one of the captains, and then a no one will stab you in the back. Then all of a sudden, you'd cleared some captains, he gets promoted, he like takes another one out in the nemesis, he moves up the board again, so all of a sudden he's gone to level 5,000. And I'm like, Jesus, you know, give a dude a chance. You know, I got a little bit ahead of myself, I know that. Don't don't come at me, I'm just trying. I got excited. You know, you can't.
SPEAKER_00No, I saw a lot of people talking about the nemesis system. So, how does that actually work then? This nemesis system.
SPEAKER_03It's so it allows anyone in that game that kills you, that's an orc or what have you, um, to level up to be a captain, and then they get further promoted up so you can have like these rivalries, and the amount of spoken dialogue in there, like I feel like every single orc that you face has something different to say to you. Now, don't get me wrong, this PS3 port or PS4 port or early PS4 port is a little bit uh looks a bit barren in 2026, but the music is great, the graphics look solid, um like all of it still feels quite good. It's a hard-hitting game, especially the start. You're like, oh cry, yeah, I forgot about this. Um don't particularly remember getting my family's neck slit in front of me, but you know, it's okay. Um I don't remember that that's okay. That's okay. It we know that we're not messing around, uh, and for that reason I have to applaud its bold storytelling. Um, but I'm not here to tell you about a game from 4,000 years ago. But if you're on the fence and you're thinking, oh crikey, I've seen that'll pop up on the Switch store, give it a go. Give it a go.
SPEAKER_00Is it very expensive?
SPEAKER_03I can't remember, mate, but you get both of them, although I think you can buy them separately. I got the the double pack, maybe it was like $29.99 or something. Don't come at me in the comments if that's wrong. If it's like George, it was 200 quid, like, oh Christ, was it? Bettering the bank manager, um, but I don't think it was that ridiculous. And the fact that you're getting two games um is is very nice. I know it's digital. Look, I'm sorry, okay, but I can't get this anywhere else, and I was kind of intrigued. So yeah, I did it, I did it.
Switch Ports And Farming Simulator Chaos
SPEAKER_03I went there, and I have no shame. Also, just as an aside, I did a little bit more farming simulator on the Irish map. I didn't realise that the first um place gives you um a tiny little grain trailer RGT, which kind of miffed me a little bit because one load of the with the combine, it was like boom, it was full. And I was like, ah right, okay, so where's the uh grain dump on this first farm? It doesn't have one, but you give me five fields of wheat. Like, what am I meant to do with this? I don't really want to just dump it outside. I think I'm gonna end up dumping it outside, or I might reload the save and immediately sell the Zeta and the green trailer and buy myself one of my modded internationals from the mod hub and a large, like crampy trailer, and then I'll probably get all of me wheat, although there are there's wheat, barley, and oats, I think, in the field. So I'm gonna have to find some way, but at least there won't be panicking as soon as the little flashy light comes on the combine. I'm like, ugh.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's that's awkward because hell you'd have to do some runs, wouldn't you, with that little trailer?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and I haven't I couldn't quite work out where the grain dump was either. I don't necessarily always want to sell it immediately either, because there's moments in farming simulator where you get spikes in prices, and I normally hold on to it until the winter and then sell it then. Always thinking, you see, up here for dancing, down there for thinking. Yeah, I said it the right way. Don't come at me. Come at me if you want. I mean, if you really, really want.
Sony QSSR Upscaling Explained
SPEAKER_03Um with all that said and done though, RGT. It's time for the news to scoured the darkest regions of the internet to bring you the latest stories. First up. I've put this in here to make sure that my flight to Bodrum, Turkey, to get my face reassembled has paid off, okay, because this is gonna be what what you know. Last week, the Carnage, we got some complaints. People turn to drink, they're still drinking now, they're consumed more, definitely more than their recommended daily allowance, and possibly their years' worth off the back of us turning the show into a drinking game. And I applaud you all for getting involved, but I also humbly apologise um for the car crash that ensued. Um, so here we go. So um Dr. Antalya in Baudron is watching now. Let's see if the work's paid off. Over at Push Square, a story by of course it's Sammy Barker. Give the guys a break, Sammy. You know, you're the big boss man. Maybe let the other boys have a go with the pencils. Uh Sammy has decided to break the news on this uh on Push Square. Sony confirms refined version of acclaimed PSSR upscaler for base PS5 with remarkable potential. It's great to be improving the PS5 this far into the generation. Um and this is live, I believe, and as you'll get into it, it's only for a couple of games. Sony's rolling out new tools for the developers, which will potentially make the PS5 experience better for everyone as the console approaches its sixth birth anniversary. I was gonna say birthday, but you know, I think the grownups call it an anniversary. It was exclusively revealed by our friends at Digital Foundry, um, our friends as well. Alright, boys. I know you're watching big fans of the show. It's everyone's guilty secret, if only they'd give us a push. The new QSSR or quick spectral super resolution, hey, Dr. Antalya is a refined version of the acclaimed PSSR found on the PS5 Pro. For the those who don't know PSSR, his art was in his mouth then, wasn't it? Like, oh George, no. No, keep no. Keep it together, fella.
SPEAKER_00Pharmaton AI was absolutely round this week.
SPEAKER_03For those who don't know PSSR or PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution winning, is an AI-based technology that is in essence allows devs to reduce computational overhead by rendering their games at a lower resolution, which can then be upscaled with minimal image quality compromises. In its original guise, a proprietary solution, which functions similarly to Nvidia's industry leading DLSS, exhibited some drawbacks, but it was refined earlier this year with a massively updated PSSR2, which has been producing great results across both. Both first and third party titles. QSSR is not the fully fledged PSSR experience. Well, Sammy, what are you doing to me here, mate? PS5 Pro includes silicon expressly assigned to machine learning, but the long and short here is that there's a remarkable potential for devs to massively improve the way their PS5 games look and run. Only available in Marvel's Wolverine and Ghost of Yotai. Although tools will be made available for all devs to implement should they choose. GTA 6, I'm looking at you. Both games will be updated today to support the tech, as confirmed on the PS blog. There's no words yet on whether Rockstar will be adopting it for GTA 6. I bet they already have. The technology will be there for the UK studio to adopt. While it's only been there to test two titles so far, Digital Foundry says the quality boost in Marvel's Wolverine specifically can be exceptional. Ghost of Yotai, the only other title currently available, benefits less, largely because it already has outstanding image quality on base PS5 hardware. I'll leave all the nerdy numbers for you to sift through, cheers fella. The tech expert's analysis is over on Digital Foundry, reckons there's a scope for QSSR to match the speed of the more commonly used FSR3 upscaler. Strip wires everywhere, which could result in some humongous humongous image quality gains for the base PS5. More testing will be required on this, of course. It should be noted for those of you with a PS5 fro. Oh I want a t-shirt with a PS5 with an Afro. Because I was gonna say the PS5 fro, right? Oh baby, this game is a good thing. Shouldn't feel shortchanged. Sony's super hmm oh he's gone. Dr. Antalya, Lionel's lawyers are on their way, they're taking you out. Sony's supercharged system is and do you know what he said to me? We've put your old teeth in cat rattle cans of paint, George. I was like, wow, that's what that noise was. So so Sony's Sony Sony's supercharged system is still much faster, more powerful machine, so it will continue to have an advantage over its lower spectrum sibling. It's great to be improving the PS5 this far into the generation, enabling developers to make games look even better. Daniel Craig, a Sony graphics engineer, not 007, told Digital Foundry. The reality is the PS5 Pro has 300 tops of dedicated hardware. I think there might be teraflops there, but who knows? Um, maybe not, uh, of dedicated hardware for this purpose and is free to pick a much more generous spot on that cost versus quality curve. So after a few tough months over at PlayStation where it's been lambasted for taking its eye off the ball and failing to deliver any real improvements to players, the surprise introduction of QSSR to base PS5 hardware could result in very meaningful improvements moving forwards.
SPEAKER_00Hmm. I personally think with this, um because there's rumours of PS6 delayed, and I think this speaks quite loudly towards that. I think they're now going to hang this generation out a bit more after the the recent debacle with the digital and Wolverine and bits and pieces. They're obviously trying to uh get a few brownie points back. Um let's give someone you know, let's give the gamers a bit more of a more powerful PS5, make it last a bit longer, and then we'll come back to the old digital PS6 further down the line, I think, anyway.
SPEAKER_03I don't think they can afford to do it, and I'll tell you why. Because Mark and his team, Mark Cerny and his team, have already said that they've we reported what last week on the PS6 specs. They're locked in. And technology moves quick. And if they and so console technology is already mid-spec PC technology now. By the time next year rolls round, if they don't release this thing, it's gonna look pretty pony for Sony. It's already gonna look underpowered, it's not gonna do well on Digital Foundry, there could be another separate pylon for the 1500 quid it's rumored to cost, or we reported it would be sub a thousand, but that's speculation last week. Who knows? Um, but I think they've got to go all in. I I think this is just to try and squeeze the last bit of juice because they will run them concurrently with each other, I think.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, they can have to, aren't they? Because I don't think the PS6 sale's gonna be anywhere near a PS5 slash PS4.
SPEAKER_03As I've said a couple of times, they've poked the thumb in the eye of the early adopters, the Sony fanboys, the boys have been there since day one, and they're the boys who normally sell everything and remortgage the house to get the new PS6 to get that new yeah, baby, console smell. Um, and I don't blame them, it's a it's a nice reward for your hard hours at work, it really is. Um so yeah, I think this is a it's a nice thing to do. I think they're obviously chucking around some experiments with PSSR and probably realise that they could get maybe halfway there with this, and I think in some ways should be applauded. Um, but it's probably all smoke and mirrors, to be honest with you. Um, but hey, from the images I've seen, it seems to have quitted itself relatively well. I played Wolfreen on a pro, and PSSR there too was in full effect, and to me it looked great, very, very nice. There were some weird areas um that I thought a bit strange, like there's a section where you're fighting with uh a leader of a Japanese death cult over some lava, and the lava looked like they're taking the acid from Ratchet and Clank. Um, so yeah, make that what you will, yeah. Um, and it wasn't just in the background a million miles away, it was like right there.
SPEAKER_00Oh, really?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you're fighting right next to it, and I did even my good lady was like, What is that? I think it I think it's lava. Oh dear, it's a bit Minecraft lava, was it? Minecraft lava looks for KHD next to this lava. Oh I might be wrong, I know people are gonna start putting screenshots on the Discord, Judge. What are you talking about? What you've been sniffing, you've been at the silver hook again, fella, but maybe it was late, I don't know. But there that was a moment where I was like, oh, after everything that I've seen, and I genuinely genuinely believe that there was a lot of asset reuse there from Spider-Man, like desks, tables, chairs, walls, it it felt very familiar. Um, but again, it enabled him to do it quite quickly, and also before we move on, and I know I should have done this in the what you've been playing section. It had more than a hint or two about it of the rap of Ratchet and Clank. And I do wonder if the Ratchet and Clank team were the ones that made this.
SPEAKER_00I would see what you mean as well, from the the way you play, you run around action-based, bit linear, but a little bit open in areas, and yeah, I see the resemblance, it's a similar play style.
SPEAKER_03I don't know. I might be speaking out of turn. What do I know? And it's a dev it's it feels Spider-Man y, it feels like insomnia actual uh Marvel universe, but then it and yeah, you're playing as a different character, I get all that, but it did seem to be like just ten degrees off from the Spider-Man team.
Uncharted Rumor And Franchise Fatigue
SPEAKER_03Anyway, we don't do rumors here at the uh UCP RGT. So what's this next bit of news?
SPEAKER_00Uh this is from Push Square from Liam Croft. Um rumor. Uh new uncharted game in the works at Naughty Dog, Nathan Drake, not the lead character. Um he goes on to say, once it's got uh once it's got Intergalactic the heretic prophet out of the door, it will be a new uncharted game that Naughty Dog focuses on next. A new report claims. Um MP Firsts, a website that previously reported on the likes of Media Molecules next title and leaked a killzone project in recent months, shared the details. According to the Outlet, Naughty Dog has a new uncharted entry in development, and the lost legacy director Sean Esquiag is leading it. Only yesterday, reliable leaker uh Nate the Hate 2 suggested that Eskiag isn't working on the new Last of Us game, and now um MP First has gone one step further to say he's at the helm of the next Uncharted. Speaking of The Last of Us, though, the website claims The Last of Us uh 3 will be what Naughty Dog does after this new Uncharted installment. Speaking more to the new Uncharted game, MP First's claim uh claims Nathan Drake will feature in the game, but he won't be the lead character anymore. In its own words, what we've been told is the new Uncharted title will have Nathan Drake in some form, though as a as the protagonist or a side character, Cameo, we can't mow down for sure now. Obviously, if you've finished Uncharted 4, then your mind will immediately jump to Cassie, the daughter of Drake, being the protagonist. The outlet isn't sure if that's the case, however. In terms of new games, the Uncharted franchise has been uh dormant since 2017 when The Lost Legacy came out. It'll have it'll have been over 10 years since the last game, uh, whatever the new project releases, more likely for the PS6. Uh so to boot up uh that start screen and hear iconic theme tune kick in once more will be a pleasing moment. Um me personally, I was speaking to Captain Skynet about this. Um yeah, I think they should leave Uncharted where it is. Um people know I'm a massive Uncharted fan. Um, and I think albeit the side games, I mean, you can probably say Golden Abyss, is that a side game or the first one you should play technically, but then you've got your your one, two, three, and four. I think they rounded the story off nice. I like the way it finished. Finished on a high. Yes, we had remastered after remaster after that, but I just think, do you know what? I quite like it where it is. I don't, you know, my um example was like Halo, and they kept releasing Halo's, and it just seemed to go down and down and down and down. Sometimes you just think just leave where it is. But you know, Captain had a good point. He said these development companies are under a hell of a lot of pressure to make games, and my point was they're probably scared to try new things. I know we've got the Intergalactic one coming out, but all these companies tend to try and stick with what's what they think will be popular, you know. Even Intergalactic has been slated god knows how many times whenever a trailer comes out, so you can understand why they would try and keep to a popular IP, but yeah, it'd be interesting. I did think it'd be the daughter, but I'm not quite sure. I don't know. What do you think, George?
SPEAKER_03Tom Holland. Mm-hmm. I say that as a joke, I don't know. I mean, the writings on the wall for it to be the daughter, that was the sort of future they set up or implied at the end of four. Um I've enjoyed every single one of the Uncharted games from the one on the Vita through to the ones on the PS3, played them again on PS4, um, played four, thought it was great, lost Legacy, probably not so great, but still a lot of the magic there. Um, it shows that the format can survive with a new character. Although I am in the RGT camp of like why stomp a mud hole dry? Why take your studio and lock them in a room and make them make the same drivel again? They've had a break, they've had a good break. Um, there's a lot of people that hankering after it uh on a better day when you're not working down the morgue RGT, I'm sure you'll be up for a slice of this. Um, but obviously you're a bit of a dark place right now, you're on a bit of a low ebb. Um literally you you feel like you have to say something controversial. I get it, but um I I don't know. Sony know they're on the bit of a back foot generally. This has just crept out now. These rumours aren't by accident, I don't imagine.
SPEAKER_00No, um just tell them it's a new uncharted, tell them it's a new last of the part three exactly.
SPEAKER_03We don't need to confirm it, but we'll say it. Um I expected Last of Us Part Three to be next, but you've got to wonder if that mud hole has been stomped dry. I think that story has been told.
SPEAKER_00Um well I did, I don't know if this is right. There was the rumours that that was going to be a prequel with Joel and Tommy as the third game, but I can't imagine what that would be like.
SPEAKER_03I I mean the story I felt they were setting up to tell, and the story I was interested in learning was what Abby and Lev did next.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that would be that would be good.
SPEAKER_03Um but those characters, although they hit for me, there was a vocal uh there was a vocal amount of the community that didn't play more than 20 minutes of Last of Us 2 who decided that was absolutely against every idea they could ever possibly conceive. And I get it, I I get it. Um but another game full of Joel and Ellie would have been really dry, and I I don't know as that would go over very well. Uh another another um another Joel game. I mean, is he is he not in enough? Is the voice actor not in enough stuff? He was in Wolverine as himself, he's the voice of literally everything right now. I mean the guy needs a rest, doesn't he? Really. Um, but you know, who knows? I was semi-intrigued by this, like I feel it's enough time. I think leading if it was his daughter and the lead with that character, I do think it would get a little bit of pushback. Um, we've already got a famous female uh treasure hunter. I do feel like Uncharted has played every hand under the book. Um, and that worked the first time round, and it was really great. But obviously, with the new Tomb Raider game coming and the Tomb Raider remakes, which I don't mind. I prefer the shenanigans and Uncharted compared to the Tomb Raider um reboot franchise. Of now we're finally getting into the remake of Tomb Raider 1 with the new game that's scheduled to drop. I think it's called Atlantis, so it it's interesting times. I mean, let's see, it's a rumour now that it's probably that guy just sat in the back room somewhere on his own, maybe with a mate is employed, drawing pictures of what they think it might look like on a sheet of A4. We might only be at that stage. Whether that then gets off the drawing board, green lit and funded, who even knows? And by the time it comes out, they'll change their mind, and it'll be a robot. So, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Or bungee will come in, and so that won't work, and I'll scrap it at the last minute. Yeah, you never know. Everything is possible in this world.
SPEAKER_03Um, I don't know what I've done. I've clicked a button, and I've told you not to press the buttons.
SPEAKER_00I don't know, but I know they light up and they look pretty, but still.
SPEAKER_03I went to an IT class in Farmerton Village Hall the other day, and I got my Windows for Dummies thing through to me for working on Windows uh um 95, so I felt like I was a top bloke.
Xbox Not For Sale Debate
SPEAKER_03Um Fraser Gilbert once again over at uh Pure Xbox has descended down from the uh Highlands to bring us this story. Xbox is not for sale. Ashishama issues confidence statement on the future of the brand. Subheading We will do whatever it takes. Get ready for this. There's always been rumours and bits of speculation over the years about whether Microsoft might be interested in selling off the Xbox brand, particularly during challenging times to the company's gaming division. And we've heard quite a lot of chatter about this in recent times since Ash Sharma took the role as head of Xbox. Sharma was actually asked about this directly in an interview with the New York Times, and her response is certainly comforting to say the least, with the Xbox CEO stating that the brand isn't for sale whatsoever. She then says that they'll do whatever it takes to achieve the kind of success they're hoping for. Here's the quote. Xbox is not for sale, Sharma said. We will do whatever it takes, we look at the right partnerships, the right operating model, and everything needed to achieve it. Apparently, Microsoft executives mentioned to the New York Times that there was always speculation about potential Xbox sale, and yet it never happens. And Sharma has self-advised there's a long way to go with Microsoft, and they're taking a long-term view. So, even though Microsoft boss Satya Nadala caused a little bit of nervousness amongst Xbox fans the other day with his comments about Xbox needing the right sustainable business model and to get back to growth this fiscal year, there are no indications that the company actually wants to get out of the platform business as things stand. In fact, it seems very much the opposite. They're going big on the platform side of things and trying to embrace exclusives and console features all over again. Not to mention the upcoming arrival of the Project Helix console. Don't panic, in other words. We're certainly hoping Xbox will be around for many years and decades to come. Now, before me and RGT get stuck into what this is all about, don't forget to hit subscribe. So many of you watch, so many of you stumble across the amazing clip arc and go, oh yeah, I want a slice of that. You watch it pretty much all the way through, and and and you know, thank you for that, but also what the hell, and then you don't subscribe. Uh and then you come back the next week. So do me a favor, it helps us to help you to help yourself get a YouTube login. I know you ain't got one. I know you ain't got one, but it's time to get one. If Google don't know about your search habits by now, uh you're fooling yourself. So get yourself a login and click subscribe. RGT. Yes. Interesting story here. Um Xbox will sell not for sale, for sale, not for sale. It seems definitely not for sale, but who would buy it anyway?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I mean it's you're thinking the money that's been invested in it, yeah, you're obviously gonna sell it at a loss. It's on it's on on on the way, which a lot of companies are. They're on they're pointing their way down at the moment rather than on the way up. It's a funny, funny sort of generation at the moment. Um, do I think it's for sale? No, I don't think it is. I think however small or however they decrease Xbox down, which they have been doing with selling studios and bits, I think they'll always want to have a foot in the gaming side of the console side. Um, because if they did sell it off and then decide in five, ten years' time that they want to get back into gaming, that's a hell of a thing to start up again. So I think they'll keep it, they'll always have an Xbox foot in there somewhere along the lines. But I also think they're trying to bring rather than having Xbox and Microsoft so far apart, they're trying to bring them closer together, they're trying to bring Xbox more into that, you know, running alongside the PC divisions and bits and pieces. You can probably tell that from the Helix is going to be pretty much a PC in a box, and it'll probably, you know, very much run like a PC. So I think it's it's more bringing it down a bit, you know, cutting the losses a bit on some of these studios, bringing it down and running it alongside the PC a bit closer rather than you know, they went a bit rogue over the years buying studios and bits and pieces, where obviously Microsoft are probably thinking, Jesus, what the hell are they doing here? We need to start getting some money back in from this. So yeah, I don't I can't see them selling it. I don't think they'll always want to keep a foot in the door. But yeah, it is interesting.
SPEAKER_03Obviously, these rumors don't come from nothing, but yeah, I think that the brand's done them well so far, it's definitely their most visible product in terms of when you think of Xbox, when you think of Microsoft now, you don't necessarily think of just Windows or Cloud Streaming or whatever, you probably think of Xbox. That might be me because I'm in a unique position where I'm in the gaming sphere, but I think it's uh a big brand and a brand that's done them reasonably well over the years. It's got a lot of um goodwill, it's got a lot, well, reasonably goodwill. Um, it's got a lot of fans. Um, you got no fans. Um, it's got a lot of fans that are very loyal to the project and they've supported it since day one. Um, with more fever sometimes than Xbox has supported themselves. Um I think they've had a few missteps um this gen and last gen. Um after the kind of like cult success of the OG Xbox, um, very powerful bit of kit compared to what everybody else was putting out at the time. Well, kind of. Um 360 easy to develop for PC ports of go-go came out there against swinging again. A lot of people's embryonic memories of gaming now are of a 360. There's a lot of goodwill for that brand, there's a lot of people collecting for that brand. Um they could just if they could just capture that magic in the bottle one more time, I think that would be a big win for them. Um, so yeah, and it an interesting time for the brand. I don't think it is for sale. Uh, as I said to you, RGT, who would buy it? I mean, it would have to be a conglomerate. It would have to be, because it's not going to be cheap. Um, they're going to inherit Games Pass, cloud streaming, cloud safe servers to manage. Um, they've got the ongoing sort of console support packages that are out there. It's it's a bit of a mess of something to buy if you're going to keep it running as it is.
SPEAKER_00I don't think it's well you think everything's tagged up with Microsoft, in it? You know, and you'd have to separate that to sell it to a different firm. And or would Microsoft keep tabs and have a contract where they supplied certain hardware? Well, I don't know.
SPEAKER_03I think half of the brand value comes from the fact it's got Xbox on uh Microsoft on the box. If Xbox had launched and it hadn't had Microsoft attached to it, it it would be a piping.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and you'd have all the cloud streaming and that which Microsoft runs. And if you then sold that brand off, how would that fit in with that? If they're running the servers, would they have to then rent that space? You know, it's really weird. I can't see him doing that.
SPEAKER_03It's too integrated in this in the yeah, I think Microsoft does a lot of cloud streaming and sharing for people like PlayStation, even that's all running on Microsoft systems now. So I don't think they're you know unable to string a contract together, yeah. True, yeah, where they lay that on somebody, and they're probably the only people that are capable of doing that, as it seems, in this in this modern era, but equally so, no, except who would buy it? Well, that's what I'm saying. It it's almost unbuyable, and at this point, and not that's because it's not bad, I just think because it is very comp it's a very complicated thing, and you could argue console gaming's on the wane a little bit, so you think the money that the a corporation would have to stump up to jump in to try and join the the main three, you know, you that's a that would be a purchase and a hell of a risk, you know.
SPEAKER_00Like you say, with it on the wane a bit, I just can't see anyone would do it.
SPEAKER_03Well, you know, you gotta wonder it has this rumour come out the fact that they've kind of spanned their gaming studios into Activision a little bit more. Is that to allow Activision to be kicked into the dirt? But then again, why give them Halo? Um, I think it's just smoke and mirrors and Chinese whispers, if I'm honest, but you can see a few of the dominoes line up. Of course, Asher would deny it, of course she would. Um so yeah, the return to sort of fiscal positivity this year, I think, is a tough, is a tough bar to get over. I think that's a bit mean.
SPEAKER_00But then, like you say, if you actually just sit down and think about it, like you were saying about Activision as well, when you actually think since Ash has been in place, she's almost been streamlining and setting it up for a sale. When you look at you can look at it in that way and think, yeah, I do agree.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you know, it almost looks like she's preparing if you've got a certain angle on it, you can see those dominoes, and you can think, well, yeah, I can see why you would come to that conclusion. But I think the warning shot would be if Activision got put up for sale.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_03But then what's Xbox worth without that now?
SPEAKER_00I mean, they invested heavily into that, heavily, you know, and that's why I think they're putting like Halo and other teams games into them now to say, right, you need to start making some money back, we need some bank back from this, so you need to we need a Halo game, we need this, we need that, you know, and there's pressure's going to be on Activision to prove their worth now, I think.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, well, it's time for them to put up or shut up, really. I mean, you know, COD's not the mega beast it once was.
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_03So I mean, they've got a lot of franchises tied up in Activision that they could reinvigorate or or put out. So it's an interesting time heading into the helix in the death rows of the current gen consoles. I think uh maybe, but who knows? So I think that draws a line under the news RGT.
Housekeeping Discord And Lottwick Hill Giveaway
SPEAKER_03So it's time for me to look at you, hand you the mop, hand you the bucket, and there you go. You do jog. Get that morgue scrubbed, get that blood and excrement out of your nails. Do a little bit of housekeeping. Tell us where people can find us, where people can interact with us, where they can finger us and do all that good stuff.
SPEAKER_00I'll say most of those. Um, yeah. If you I'll say if you're listening to us on audio and it's the first time you listen to the show, please uh give us a little follow to make sure you get the automatic download every week for the show. Um, also check out our other show we've got, Flashback, if you're more retro, you know, inspired with your game, and then check out there. That's just hit 40 episodes, and it's a great little nostalgia look back and in the game and past. Um, also, we've got a website at unofficial control uh sorry, unofficialcontrollerpodcast.com. I nearly said, This is Dr.
SPEAKER_03Antalya's number. You take it, you ring him, you get on a plane to Turkey, you get it sorted.
SPEAKER_00Superb. Thank you. Um, yeah, so unofficialcontrollerpodcast.com, check out the website for all the bits and pieces on there, and also there's a link on there for our Discord. Check out our Discord. Um, there's a new challenge on there at the moment. So jump in, join in. That's great little fun place for gamers on there, bit of everything. Um, we've also, if you want to contact the show as well, um, which many people do now, it's uh questions at unofficialcontrollerpodcast.com from anything from questions to us or um sponsorships, or if you just want to chat to the show or collaborations of anyone, just let us know on there. Like I say, questions at unofficial controllerpodcast.com. Um, we've got Instagram, we've got TikTok, and we're on X. Have I covered everything there, George?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I think so. That developer got in touch, didn't they? And they um I'm now looking for it feverishly.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. I need to um need to uh download that on my land.
SPEAKER_03Well, more importantly, I think you need to wish list it as and there's a chance for our listeners and or viewers, viewers, viewers, to uh get in on a chance to win a free copy of the game. Um and I'm ever trying to do the right thing, and now I can't find it. I forwarded it to you, so I dot I kind of relinquish all um all responsibilities if I'm honest with you. Probably came through to podcast questions, which should be a good place to look. Um there we go. Lothwick Hill or Lotwick Hill, a new business tycoon coming to Steam. Um we implore you to check it out. It looks like my cup of tea, but I don't have a PC machine to play it on, so I just looked at the trailer and helmet controller and it felt like I was playing it, so it's pretty cool. Um so Lassie over there has um has messaged and said wishlist draw. Wishlist Lottwick Hill, and then simply reply to this email with wish listed the day before. I'll draw a number of free Steam keys among everyone who confirmed no strings attached, not signing up for anything. Um wish list it send me your details at question unofficial controllerpodcast.com uh if you want to, and I'll forward it to Lassie at Lottwick Hill. Uh, if there's any issues, I'm sure I'll smooth it out with you andor Lassie. Um, but looks like a game that is very much up my street. It's a little bit um little big workshop, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Uh, and there's lots to get stuck into there, so please uh go check that out. RGT's uh he had homework, but he didn't do it, so I'm gonna bend him over and thrash his lilywhers. That's why I didn't do it. I knew you would do this because I know you've got a penchant for a little bit of uh Thrashing. Yeah, yeah. It's it's not a good look, I'll be honest. But you know, if you don't want to sit down, I'll make sure you can't. Perfect. That's the way I like it. Lovely. Um with all that said and done, we also will always make sure the show is free and the sister show flashback is free. But if you do want to support the show, uh there's uh I'll tell you what we need to do. Take the Buzz Sprat link and put it on the website. Let's make it easier for people so it's not locked on the audio. If you're listening, Captain Skynet, yes, it's time to dig in. Um, he'll be able to just click his fingers, he's already wired into the internet like that woman out of Superman 3. You know, that gave me nightmares as a kid, and I don't believe I'm alone. Terrifying sequence. Um, still terrified of it to this day, although it doesn't look as scary now as it possibly could do. But that's kind of how I see Captain Skynet. He's not on the internet, he's not in the internet, he is the internet. So I'm sure he'll just do a dippy-dip dip. But if you do want to support the show from as little as $3, I find the show on an audio feed, scroll to the bottom, bam, go there. And Georgie's special, even if you go on at $3. I'm gonna send you a t-shirt. Yeah, I am.
SPEAKER_00I think I actually think it might already be on the website. The tiers are on there, so I think there's already a link.
SPEAKER_03Not this again. Uh okay. Well, go to the website, check out the tiers, and there'll be a link there according to RGT. Or would there will be this time you hear this, or or there's gonna be there's gonna be asses getting slapped, to tell you. Um, so yeah. If you're into that, knock yourself out. Um, and from as little three dollars, you get a t-shirt. If you pay for a little bit further up, that means you're gonna get two t-shirts. And as I've said before, that is probably 20 years worth of a wardrobe for a gamer, probably just swap at the halfway point in the decade. You're bound to have put weight on, so you're probably gonna be pulling it down like a crop top over your midriff. Uh, but you don't go out anyway, so at least you're kind of warm. Um, I'm not here to judge you, um, but you know, soap is less than wolverine. That's all I'm gonna say, right? That's all I'm saying. So get yourself a bit of soap. Uh toothpaste if you can afford it. Um, I can't speak because I've had to have my whole mouth rewired um because I'm addicted to haribo.
SPEAKER_00True secret haribouter.
SPEAKER_03Oh mate, I gorge on it. I pour it all over the floor and I just sort of truffle in it like a pig. Um until I black out from a kind of sweet sugar rush, innit? Yeah, pretty much. I black out, I wake up, I give myself a quick enema, and then I go again. Yeah, I go again, just so I can feel the sweets that second time, because if they're trapped in your colon, the sugar rush just done it.
SPEAKER_00Wow.
SPEAKER_03It's an image, definitely don't make that into a t-shirt. Well, I'm not reusing the enema juice. What I'm saying is that that goes in the required sluice in the corner, and then I just go out the sweeties again on the floor. Recommend you maybe using a plate, but to me, I want to feel a little bit sort of when I'm doing it, you know. A little bit piggy. Let's make it the third week, I say. Squill, piggy squeal, or whatever it is I said. So yeah. As quick. As is that. You can only hope so. Yeah.
Subscriber Shoutouts And Unhinged Banter
SPEAKER_03Um anyway, for those that have subbed, one of your perks is that you get read out on the show from as little as three dollars. So if you want to get internet famous, now's about the time to do it. RGT's got his hand up like an Aaron Schoolboy. How may I help you, sir?
SPEAKER_00I have a big apology to make this week.
SPEAKER_03You do, don't you?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I bought that last week, didn't I?
SPEAKER_03Big time. And if you were gonna fuck up with one person, you fucked up with the wrong guy.
SPEAKER_00I did, yeah. There was a knock at the door as soon as the show went out Sunday. Two hours later, there's a bang at the door, home the door. Mountain of a man standing there. Carlos, I was like, Oh hello, Carlos, what's the matter? Something wrong then. I don't know what's the matter. Didn't read me out this week. Headlock, scruffled the old hair up, wedgie, sort it the next week, on back. I said, right. Okay, don't panic. So apologies, Carlos. Um, I don't want another wedgie. Well, maybe I do have a little wedgie.
SPEAKER_03Um he came at you in the wrong way there, didn't he? He shouldn't have like messed with your nether regions, because now that's your pleasure zone. It's like the whole area where your kind of a roginess nerve endings lie. Um I feel sorry for Mrs. RGT because uh she's been working that backdoor for quite some time. But what I would say is I don't want the one man George Army, one man George fan club having to mess with that. He's better than that.
SPEAKER_00He is better than that. Yes, he is better than that. But yes, I I do apologize, and also um um I have offered him a little something I'm gonna send to him as a little apology gift. So uh sorry, Carlos, that you didn't get rid of last week, and it's my fault.
SPEAKER_03I don't want you sending him your stained wedgie pants. Oh, because it's not beyond the realms of possibility suggests that there are a pair of silk boxes kicking around with your face on in the Discord. I do believe he owns those.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, that is I forgot about them, they were quite disturbing.
SPEAKER_03The law writes itself, but I do like to think he wears them as his scruffy pants the days where he's thought, maybe he's apt to have a quick sort of like, oh crikey, I've got nowhere safe to go for a number two. Uh, to be fair, there's one of those sort of builder sort of toilets, you know, Portaloo. He's gone in there, there's no paper, he's done the best he can, but then he's had a little bit of an itch downstairs, so he's kind of burrowed your face into the itch to give it a good old clean. Um and I like to imagine there's a reverse image of you smothered, especially for your crimes this last week, in his fetid doo-doo. Like I imagine a better punishment as well, because I think DM got those pants made, so he probably did some voodoo, hoodoo, you do on him. So when he's doing that, you then end up with a little bit of uh magical detritus on your face and mouth, and it would, and I don't mean to be rude here, RGT, it would explain the breath.
SPEAKER_00Anyway, sorry, Carl.
SPEAKER_02So I think he's been reprimanded, Carlos. Now we've managed to manipulate that round. I've dressed him down.
SPEAKER_00That was a worrying image. Uh with my face on them pants. That's mmm. Yeah, that's punishment enough. But yeah, sorry, Carlos.
SPEAKER_03What's more worried is I think he's got them displayed in his gamer area. So uh yeah. He probably uses a soft silk to wipe down his gaming consoles because he knows they're not gonna leave a scratch.
SPEAKER_00Good idea, yeah. Bit of a dust magnet, just give him a little buff down all these uh Japanese imports.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it gives him a good threshing with your grid.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I don't mind that. That's definitely better. Um but yes, so should we do the list then? Which I have upgraded again. Hopefully, I've done it correct this week. Are you alright, George?
SPEAKER_03Uh sometimes my own my own words catch up with me. Maybe a little bit late, it's like when Concorde breaks the sound barrier, it's like, oh, what was that?
SPEAKER_00And then as I'm saying it, I'm like, oh your mave tends to work before your brain, but so that's why you see me pulling all these funny faces, because you've gone off on one, and then you get halfway through, and I see you sort of think, Yeah, probably shouldn't have said that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, well, we haven't got the budget for an edit, so it all stays in. Uh and then we, you know, we say we ain't got the money for edit, but then we find the money for the legal lawsuit at the end. So I think what you would say is the UCP's not got enough money to do it right, but it's got enough money to do it twice.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but if we edit everything out that you said that was slightly on edge, the show would be about nine minutes long.
SPEAKER_03I think that's a little bit more like a YouTube short. I think it would go for the TikTok generation like gangbusters. Probably, yeah. Yeah, nine minutes like uh like re-watching Game of Thrones all seasons nowadays for the modern youth. So, you know, maybe an hour and a half is a bit of a stretch. Yeah. True.
SPEAKER_00Let's have a look at this list then. What you've done here. Yeah, so I've read on the list and definitely added Carlos back in. That'd be Todd's law. I've got to miss someone else out, but I tried to really beat.
SPEAKER_03I'll start this week. It's uh it's speederwheels. He's taken up a job working over in NASCAR. Um, they're building a vehicle round him. He's possibly that's why he's got the name Speedy Wheels. He's possibly one of the most outrageous driver talents that the world has ever seen. Um, he's in, he's out. He does struggle to be fair at low speed, but once he gets up to speed, he's away. And I do believe that he has been kind of cast in Days of Thunder 2 as Cole Trickle's not love interest, but rival. And uh he's he's he's he's all in for it. They've got the hospital scene, the wheelchair chase, the whole bag of tricks all set up. So he he's all in on that. So I'm looking forward to Days of Thunder 2. Speedy Wheels, fair play to you. You sexy son of a bitch. Thank you for subscribing. Who's next, RGT?
SPEAKER_00Next up, we have the man we've mentioned quite a few times here. He's not he's not in the internet, he's not part of the internet, he is part of the internet, yeah. Captain Skynet, he is everywhere, he's he's watching us now.
SPEAKER_03I can feel him looking at me. He's more into you than Carlos's digit in that portal cabin through your tra through your trunks. Um, yeah, he's at least two knuckles deep. So I don't know what you two have got going on. Uh, but at least Carlos had the protection of the silk. Uh Skynet's gone in naked. And I'll tell you, right? I had an ender after Maharibos, you know, fit. You don't do that. So good luck to his fingernails. Thanks, Captain Skynet, for all that you do.
SPEAKER_00I can't really add more to that, so thanks, Captain Skynet.
SPEAKER_03I don't think you need to. I think what's said is said. Exactly. It's a man now. I normally give him air, I normally give his brother air, but I'm not going to give his brother air this week, a dirty Australian dog. I'm going to give the air to Gascon, an absolute statuesque gentleman. He looks great, he looks even better in the UCP merch, and he's dripping in it now. He's got, as I say, probably four decades worth of clothing from us now, so he's looking absolutely fantastic. He's always the go-to guy in the Discord with the intelligent answers and the intelligent point of view. He's always the kind of highbrow guy in the YouTube comments. Um, we need more of those to get doing them. Uh, make sure that the standard of the Immortal Gazcon, he wouldn't go anywhere near RGT's pleasure area.
SPEAKER_00Definitely not. And also, after doing flashback this week, if you haven't listened, go and check out Flash this week's flashback. I said about I'd like to play Elevator Action. And I said, I spec Carlos has got it. Carlos come on and went, Oh no, I don't think I ain't got that. And then there was a picture appeared. Oh, do you mean this one? Oh and then and then Gascon jumped on and went, Oh, if you get Taito Legends on the PS2, which I have, Elevator Action's on their RGTs, you can play it. So I was like, So you've got it.
SPEAKER_03Yes, I've got it on the on the So Carlos and Gascon are a little bit sort of neck and neck there, aren't they? They've got a bit of a rivalry, have they? Friendly rivalry.
SPEAKER_00I think they work together. They're very good at um gaming knowledge. Yeah, they definitely they're definitely an item when it comes to gaming. That's hmm.
SPEAKER_03Kind of you you push I you push I pull kind of thing.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, thanks Gascon. Next up we have the wonderful retrohead.
SPEAKER_03Better, better. Why? What do you mean? I haven't done him dirty at all. Mate, I don't I think the crime is that you committed on him was unforgivable.
SPEAKER_00What? Kissing his head? Yeah. I like kissing retro head's head. What's wrong with that?
SPEAKER_03Look, between two consenting grown men, one with a one with a large derriere pleasure area, um, the other one had just kind of just popped up uh out of nowhere, and then you kissed his head. I think the timing was a little bit off, mate, if I'm honest, but well I think he enjoyed it.
SPEAKER_00So thank you, Retro Ed, for your support. And also it's always very good because whenever we put a uh whenever I put up uh one of our reels at Captain Skynetnet does, he always uh what do you call it on Instagram where you can um push it fully press the little arrow button, don't you? God, I sound old. Well, you forward it on, don't you? What's that called? You know what I mean? Share it? No. But yeah, we'll say share. Yeah, share it. You know, you know what I mean. What's that buddy called? I'm gonna find out now. You do the next one. Thanks, retroed.
SPEAKER_03I don't look, to be honest, you don't need to remind anyone else that we're that old that we don't know how to use the internet. I think you just drop it. Immediately, because you're not even gonna be able to find it on Google because you don't know what you're talking about.
SPEAKER_00Reposted. Reposted.
SPEAKER_03Sweeb. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Thank you, Retro Ed, for always reposting the stuff. I really appreciate it.
SPEAKER_03It's my man's time right now. It's Carlos, the One Man George Fan Club. I see you've missed that off. No, don't you dare lie. Don't you dare lie. No, he has a subtitle. Carlos, the one man George Fan Club. It just says Carlos here.
SPEAKER_00Well, I'm sure you can put the rest to it.
SPEAKER_03I'd like to think that he's getting the respect he deserves. You are a bell end. Oh, does that mean you're gonna kiss me on the head, does it?
SPEAKER_00Yes. Yes, it bloody does. I'm gonna whip that out off and bloody start kissing your head.
SPEAKER_03Wow. Let him have his moment, right? Now no interruptions. Don't take the sun from the carloss.
SPEAKER_00Well, stop trying to get me in trouble. If he comes around and wedge me again last time, the pants are up over my shoulders. Have you finished? Yes.
SPEAKER_03Alright. It's not often I say that to you, but this week you've just got to just give him his chance, alright? It's the one-man George fan club stroke army. I don't need thousands of you. Well, I kinda do. My ego needs propping up a little bit, to be fair. Let's let's be honest. Um, but right now I've only got one man. His name's Carlos, and he stands up proud and true. And I love him for it. He's a good bloke. Um, I think he's got holiday coming up, which he's getting prepped for. He's just work, he's got his head down. He's like, I don't want to get rocked by any of this work ephemera. I'm just gonna get in, do my grind, and get out and sit amongst a retro shooter at home while I listen to these boys, and I respect you for that, sir. So thank you for all that you do, Carlos.
SPEAKER_00Yes, thank you as always, Carlos. And apologies, I don't want another wedgie. Um next up we have Trump to Trump.
SPEAKER_03No, mate, no. From flopflation to inflation.
SPEAKER_00I had enough trouble with these words last week. From what was it? Flopflation to inflation. From flopflation to inflation, that's that is gotta be a t-shirt.
SPEAKER_03That is with firm returns on it. We need we need a t-shirt with that. F A F A No.
SPEAKER_00Do you put something floppy on it?
SPEAKER_03FCA approved. Yeah. Well, what was that Andy just did?
SPEAKER_00Floppy. I was trying to represent something floppy. Jesus Christ, that looks like a plucked swan. Oh god. Oh my god. So sorry, viewers, listeners, listeners, viewers. Um, viewers, viewers. Um yes.
SPEAKER_03And if you're listening, you miss nothing. It was just RGT's sort of um very he's got big forearms, that guy. Yeah, a lot of self-love going on.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, the gammon gone words that you named and yeah, thank you very much. Um, yeah, so yeah, firm returns. Thank you very much for that. From flopflation to inflation, there we go.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, FTA approved, don't forget that. You find him on X. If you want to take that penny down the back of the sofa and turn it into a thousand pounds by the end of the day, he's the man you need to talk to because he will make that happen for you. Um next, corner house. Uh, we're legally obliged to say Jackie got a little bit worn out in the back room last week. Um, she had an absolute cue out the door, and admittedly, she didn't sign up for everybody was expecting there. Um, she was doing pre-inspections for Dr. Antalya's teeth clinic in Bodrum. Um, I think a few people got the wrong end of the stick um because I said there would be a below the trouser shove um massage shuffle going on, and I I didn't realise it was a head job she was doing, so it all got a little bit uh bit confusing. So we're gonna cut all that out, okay? No free dental offers this week, no head jobs, no below the trouser belt ruffles, nothing. If you go in and show you them that you're sub to the show, they're just gonna say, Well done. All right, better, and you can take one of the free napkins from the napkin dispenser. Nice, yeah, nice, yeah. That's a good one. Yeah, thank you. Just to mop yourself up after everything that's gone on. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, next up we have the uh wonderful man north of the border. It is Roe Space Monk, the Dreamcast aficionado. Um, I hope you're doing very well, my man. Haven't spoken to you in a while, but hopefully we'll catch up again soon. So uh yeah, uh thank you again for all your support and loyal support for a lot of years. So thank you very much. He he is one of the true OGs. Yes, he's he definitely is, bless him. Definitely is.
SPEAKER_03One day in the quiz, the question will be who was the first person to message questions at unofficialcontrollerpodcast.com and the answer will be Regimental Sergeant Major, RSM Rospace Monk. Yeah, yeah, without doubt. Is it me? Wow, this is arranged in a new and in different way. So I get to thank uh Bella, which is what the cool kids are saying now for yo. If you didn't know that, you're not a real Italian, but I know you are, I've smelt it on you. Smells a mixture of Palmer ham and um mozzarella, which is is quite an intoxicating smell. Um not only that, he's probably one of the stylishest men I've ever seen. He ought to do one of those fit things on Instagram, you know. You want to dress like Ayrton Senna, hold up the jeans, t-shirt, jacket, cap, national cap, boom. He's there. He's very cool. So I want him to be. I need a new look, um, I need a new style, and I think I need Badabinkster's design house to kind of point me in the right direction with some cut price high street bargains. Uh he also is an absolute charity shop ranger, and I don't mean that in a bad way, I mean a little bit like Tingle Tuna, he will sniff out the best deals in town. Um so Stami Bandley, Badabinkster. Gratzi Miley.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, thank you, Badabinkster. And speaking of the uh Can I take this one as well?
SPEAKER_03If you want, yeah. Because this gentleman this week, he we might he might even be hearing this as he's doing it. Is that loyal? Uh, and if not, I hope you got back okay. But he's doing the Farmerton 10k through Farmerton Hall's own premises. True story. Right? I'm not gonna be there, which is unfortunate, because if I had, I would have gone up and waved to him um as he makes his way across the estate. But um I may send up Mumsy. OG, real mumsy. I need to remember to ask her before I jump in the helicopter. But um yeah, he's doing that, so congratulations to him. I hope it goes well. Um, and then I'll also roll into DM, who I also think is doing some sort of walking challenge. I see on Instagram, he took himself off the Great Yarmouth um to do some walking.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he's doing the hundred miles in October.
SPEAKER_03Um get it done in one day and sit down, DM. Make it easy for yourself.
SPEAKER_00He's doing it, yeah, he's doing it for charity, mental health charity. So uh fair play. Charity, mate. So uh check him out on Instagram, follow the link, and then uh yeah, give him a bit of support because that's a great thing to do. So yeah, well done, DM.
SPEAKER_03No, he needs to walk it. If they support him, they're gonna carry him. And he needs to move his own feet on the path to make this count.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I think what mean that sort of support, but like a bra. No, thanks, Digital Monkey, anyway, for that, and well done. That's a great cause and uh yeah, great idea. Uh he's a good man. Hang on a minute.
SPEAKER_03I don't know if you're watching this or not, but you know what? You're a good bloke, you know that better than anybody. You need to just remember that you're loved and you were cared for, uh, and you're a good mate of ours. So we hope you're doing well. Yeah, thank you, DM.
SPEAKER_00Um next up the man is recovering. He's back on the board this week. What sort of board? The ironing board or yeah, he practiced on the ironing board. Um just to try to he's just trying to get his balance because he's he's a bit unlevel at the moment.
SPEAKER_03This is like cold trickle, isn't it? This is like Speedy Wheels in the in the Days of Thunder remake. He's having to sort of just he's got to get his confidence back, hasn't he?
SPEAKER_00He has got to get his confidence back.
SPEAKER_03He's got to get through the smoke with his foot flat.
SPEAKER_00I said to him, I went around to see him, um, had to help him feed him a little bit, but he's he's getting back on his feet. And uh I said to him, look, you just gotta get out of there and start flossing. Just hit the floss after floss. Get that first floss out of the way, and then do a floss 360, and then do a floss 360 invert, bang, you're back.
SPEAKER_03What did you feed him, Thomas sausage or uh no, no, no, no. He just had uh a little bit of retro front Thomas as I oh dear.
SPEAKER_00Umburger, but I'd cut it up into little squares for him, just to help him digest a bit because he's still struggling a bit. The hamburger euphemism for your pleasure zone. No, not at all. That's just all in your head.
SPEAKER_03That's when you reverse onto me, it's in my head. It is yeah, okay, fine.
SPEAKER_00But yes, thank you, ball border, and uh, yeah, you'll soon be.
SPEAKER_03Why do you tell the story like this? Because I went to see him and he was outrageous. Um, I know you want to keep him calm so he can get back to it, but I went and fired him up. And I I tipped the ironing board upside down and said, Bull border, you're going at this all wrong, right? Remember what made you the star that you were at Saflesh Trench? Well, you're like a skateboard guru now, eh? Kind of, in my spare time. I did teach Tony Hawk a couple of things. Not the real Tony Hawk, but the guy who runs the falconry place down the road in Farmerton, Tony Hawk, the actual real Tony Hawks, Tony's Hawks, yeah, kind of and I said, Look, remember what made you famous? It was that asbestos-like fresh trench, flesh Lionel, we're going turkey.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03It's that asbestos-like flesh trench that you've got. And he said, Oh, George, it's very sore. I said, No. Do you remember when you were a kid and you first started fingering down there? You've got to start building up your building up the leather-like skin. So I basically he was laid on the floor a little bit sore, so I got both feet in between his legs and just basically split him wide open, and then I went at him with a with basically a grinder down there. Now, I'm not saying that it helped, but I think that you see, you're like Carrot, I'm more stick, and I thought there's no way I'm gonna let Extreme Sports' biggest hero take six weeks to recover. So I went at it like a good one. Um, a little bit like Ed China on Wheeler Deal that's cutting out a rotten subframe. Um I reckon next time you see him, the ironing board will be gone and he'll be up on the roof on the board doing it proper.
SPEAKER_00Let's hope so. Um that's dedicated to you.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I've taken responsibility for his bookings and I've got him booked at Rotherham Village Hall, um, town hall, um, next week. And if he can't perform, I'll give him a pill, and then he'll just have to do it anyway.
SPEAKER_00Wow, you're like his manager now.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I saw a lot of money going his way, and I wanted 10% of it.
SPEAKER_00Well, actually Floss 360 on tour.
SPEAKER_03Well, why haven't we got a floss 360 t-shirt?
SPEAKER_00Flesh trench. That's a that's a tough sell that one as a t-shirt, isn't it?
SPEAKER_03I know one I know someone who'd bite immediately. And triple his wardrobe, Bob Border. Yep, there you go. Up next, the man who I've insinuated has been um very much into the swinging scene. Um and I don't think I'm far wrong because I caught him on one of those witches' hat, you know, the upturned sort of um, you know, the big swings. Yeah, he's big into that, big into the swinging, and um he's been out in his in his um tent box this week, aka the UCP mobile headquarters, and he's found a way to he's made a little sort of top hatch in it so he can pop his head out, and what he does, he sort of pleasures himself on his switch too, while he's got his head out at the top, so he kind of looks around at people as they're going about their business, and then he pops back through, zips up, dons his headset, goes brown. He's got the full tech suite in there now, because I do believe he's managed to squeeze his Xbox Series X into there. Oh wow. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, so he's got the full gaming suite in there now, and he's also got the full surveillance suite. So in his, you know, he's come off frontline duties and now he's more in intelligence.
SPEAKER_01Mmm, cool.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's pop his head out, and so what are you doing? He's you know, there's a little bit of a rumble in there as he's playing with all his equipment.
SPEAKER_00Well, I heard he was fitting a periscope. Really?
SPEAKER_03I guess he did the budget version and just popped his head out. Yeah, but I reckon he's gonna go full periscope. Right, okay. Is that a euphemism for something? Because we don't do those on the UCP.
SPEAKER_00No, no, I'm just saying that's easy and sticking his head out. It'll get cold in the winter then. Up periscope, look around.
SPEAKER_03Brilliant. Yeah. Are you gonna get a bit jealous though, or are you gonna have to start upgrading your tent box to get it to the same technological standard?
SPEAKER_00Oh no, he's he's gone way ahead of me. He's got proper setup there. I mean, that's impressive. That I mean that surveillance, you can see everything. Everything. Okay. Anyway, thank you, Boba. Uh thanks, Boba. Next up we have uh your red-headed stepson.
unknownYes.
SPEAKER_03Oh, he keeps putting headshots on the internet, you know, and I'm like, wow. Do you know? You know, he's gonna fashion board. I'll have a bit of that.
SPEAKER_00Wow, that's odd thought to have, but yes, so uh yeah, thank you, Ginge, as always. And uh yeah, I was always thinking it's he's a lovely lad, and he's one of them that as a hard working lad as well. You know, he's in a hard business, hard working, never moans about it. Do you know what I mean? You just he's just one of them. You've got Carlos as well, they're in hard trades, rough work. Never moan about it, do they? We'll just get on, come on the Discord, always in a good mood. You just think, what great, what great gentleman. So, yeah, thank you, Ginge. Absolute legend. Who we got next?
SPEAKER_03That's made me quite made me feel quite emotional. Well, next, Harvey Retro, a man who inspired Bram Stoker's Dracula. He he was taking a holiday in Whitby in the sort of early 1800s. He's a man that defies time. Um, he came over to uh us in New York when we were recording in America in a casket. If only we did YouTube, then you'd see it.
SPEAKER_00He's a bit like Highlander, isn't he?
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Again, a lot of head going on here, isn't there? Um, so yeah, Harvey Retro is not into that. He's he is a bit like Highlander, but he's not one to go looking for head. Um he is the one, he is the only one, he is the immortal one, um, and you've got a Dothie Cap to the guy. As I could say, he's inspired many a literally uh literal and um cinematography work just through his own life story. I would like a locket of his hair around my neck, if I'm being so bold. Um, I do believe it has supernatural qualities and would extend my mortal lifespan by at least 10 years.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that would definitely, yes. Thank you, Harvey Retro. Next up, we have Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed's number one fan. We have the wonderful Emma Sharp. Thank you as always, Emma.
SPEAKER_03I thought when you first said that Ubisoft is in like totally flaccid, but you mean Ubisoft?
SPEAKER_00Ubisoft, yes.
SPEAKER_03Ah, that makes more sense because that would be a bit that would be a bit of a strange thing to say about Emma because there's no Ubisoft around there. Um up next, our immortal Greg from nowhere near Berlin. We've kind of given up working out where he is, so I think I'm just gonna say to him, hang on a minute.
SPEAKER_00Have we tried looking in space for him before? No, but also we're missing the trick here because we've got the number one surveillance man in the Discord, in the in the subs list. Oh, but get on it, yeah. Get on it, find him, get up periscope sun. Let's find him.
SPEAKER_03How far up does he need to put the periscope to see him, do you think?
SPEAKER_00I don't know. I reckon you need quite a bit of girth to it to see as far as you can. I think you need some serious distance and length on that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I was gonna say girth's not helping much, is it? I think you just need some length. Yeah, need the length, yeah. I think with length comes girth, naturally. So, you know, depending on the scale, I mean I've not seen that. I only saw him do the Mark I version, which was just his head, and less his neck's like I've you know, he might have a really long fucking neck for all I know, like a giraffe, like a man giraffe. But anyway, this is Greg's readout. So yeah, I think we could do with Boba's help because after I don't know how many years of lore subscriptions asking us to find him, we haven't found him.
SPEAKER_00No, we haven't.
SPEAKER_03Apart from the one time he appeared on the show, yeah. Or no, he's been on the show two or three times, hasn't he? Actually, he has. Uh yeah.
SPEAKER_00He's been on more than I have, yeah. Or that I remember anyway. Yeah. He's a bit of a fever dreaming you're on. Um, but yeah, thank you, Greg. Uh thanks, mate. Next up, we have well, someone we should all be thanking. That is Mumsy. Well, we wouldn't be here without her, would we? We definitely wouldn't be, and we wouldn't be buying games consoles about her. No. No, yeah, no stuff. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So she's become like my PA lately. Oh, really? Yeah, well, getting to get Lionel on the phone. I got her to hold the cable in the mouth while I went that bull border's flesh trench. Um, she allowed me to get on her shoulders so I could look at the top, so I could go eye to eye with Bobra as he stuck his head out. He did look a bit awkward when I did that, though. It was almost like he was doing something he shouldn't be doing in a tent box. I presume he was like playing a pirate switch game. Either which way, thank you, Mumsy. We love you. Um, which means I get the exquisite honour and pleasure of thanking the RGT fan club once again. Um it falls to me to thank you for your lore support of RGT. Um, I hope you're doing well. I think you're both looking fantastic. Um, I think I'll be honest today, I think you both smelling fantastic. Not like your son's girdled trunks. So I've got to be very grateful to you both for supporting the show, and I hope you're well.
SPEAKER_00Yes, thank you, RGT fan club. Next up we have Pete Brocklehurst, the very the very quiet man, the silent man. He's not in the Discord. You don't really see him on Instagram. Yeah, he supports a show of your week, and we understand that he listens to the show of your week. So he's another quarter arms. Come on, Pete, join that Discord. We'd love to see you in there. You and Ginge have a bit of a face off, the two hard men.
SPEAKER_03I think that's why he doesn't, because we don't want the world to end, do we? Because if those two gravitational forces impacted on each other in the Discord, it would rupture the internet. Captain Skynet would like and we'd like to beyond buffering.
SPEAKER_00That'd be the what is it, the unstoppable force versus the immovable object.
SPEAKER_03And I don't know which is which, but I tell you what, that'd be some crazy son of a bitch to watch. So that would be, yeah. Yeah, I'm not ready for it yet, but when I am, I'll let you know, Pete. I will let you know.
SPEAKER_00Thank you, Pete, though, as always.
SPEAKER_03Up next, a man who stinks, like most gamers, it's Billy Marmite, the yeasty, king of the yeasty boys. He's a silent but violent as well. Um, but we do know he's up periscoped a few times to let himself known and let him let us know that he loves the show. He likes these readouts as they are. Please continue. He did actually get in touch with me and say, It's remarkable, George. I do stink, and I majoratively wear the UCP merch. So if you see a man you don't recognise walking down the street in some UCP merch, and I think he might have ordered just one more puff as well. So that would be the kind of clue because I don't think it's a good thing.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, if you see him sort of walking down the road with a UCP merch or not flashback merch, and you get this sort of pungent aroma, sort of almost force field of yeast around him, then you know that it is.
SPEAKER_03Imagine CEX on a July afternoon when a guy's trading about 300 PlayStation 2 games, and there's a guy behind him trying to buy a copy of Emmerdale. That sort of aroma is the sort of smell you get from Billy Marmite. And the person behind that has got the box heartbeat box set. Absolute fucking stinks in there. You got a bit aggressive, then.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, thanks, Billy.
SPEAKER_03I see you liked it though. You're a bit nervous, but then you kind of lent into it.
SPEAKER_00I lent into it a bit, but then the F bomb dropped, and you got a bit angry. Absolutely, it stinks into it. All right, fine down to it.
SPEAKER_03That's the one thing about a CEX. You're like, oh, I'm in town, let's go see if there's anything peculiar or unusual, or maybe something I can get for a steal, or maybe that game I've always wanted will be there on the PS1 or two PS2 shelf, or whatever it is. And you walk in and like smack, you've been literally throat punched with an aroma of just lost dreams and frustrations. It kind of smells like an incel um would smell. So yeah, that's that place for you. Wow. Um, so it's me to do the geef then. Yeah, you crack one out, mate. So imagine someone's playing with your pleasure area and give me the best geef you've ever done.
SPEAKER_00Right, here we go. Oh fat oh oh fa oh oh fah oh that gee uh Um was that you loading up your original copy of Ghost of the Yota on your PS5 and realising the QSSR had kicked in. Oh you get them every week. Unbelievable. Brilliant work, yeah, brilliant work. You always base it round the news. Yeah, but yeah, I do, I suppose. You know, it's just when I was researching the show, that was the reactions I'd do as I was uh geefing. So some of the news really hit home.
SPEAKER_03I'll be honest with you, I wasn't quite sure whether it was that or there was a 50% chance it could have been the voodoo hoodoo voodoo of you being smeared around Carlos's uh dirt box. Uh definitely wasn't that it was the first one you were correct the first time, so okay, all right. Well, with all that done, thank you to everyone who listens. Uh, if you don't subscribe, that's cool, but you know, you really ought to at this point. And uh if you do nothing else this week, hit subscribe on the UTU. Um if you're listening on the audio. OG, could you be the most wonderful listener anyone could ever ask for? Yes, you are. Uh, make sure you're following or subbing or whatever you do it on the audio these days, uh, and get involved. We appreciate you. And again, if you're on the video, viewer, viewer, viewer, viewer, click subscribe. It costs you nothing. I'll be absolutely honest, nothing. So get it done.
What We’re Playing Next And Wrap
SPEAKER_03RGT really only left for me to ask you what your ha ha ha ha how pen to play.
SPEAKER_00Um I'm away this weekend, so that'll be switch to taken with me. Uh more Star Wars Outlaws, get a few more hours then on that. Um, and definitely more eFootball uh kickoff because I am really enjoying that game. Um a surprise little one that and yeah, and likewise as I am with Star Wars Outlaws, that's been a bit of a surprise to me that game.
SPEAKER_03Is eFootball online or is it versus CPU?
SPEAKER_00It's versus CPU. You can play online if you want, I believe, or they are adding it in. Um but at the moment it is it is before the other eFootballs are filled with microtransactions, that is all gone. This is just the game, and you play the different modes, and not say they've now just recently, last couple of days, as of recording this, have added in league mode. So you can play uh separate league around the world and try and get your team to win the league.
SPEAKER_03And yeah, it's what story game are you gonna play in that little devilish shack of yours? What story game? Yeah, obviously, it's not all e football this weekend away, is it?
SPEAKER_00Oh no, and Star Wars Outlaws. So I should be attacked Star Wars Outlaws because uh yeah, I think that that surprised me in a lot of ways that game, and um yeah, I'm quite enjoying it. I think the the stealth side's very good to it. I've I've enjoyed I don't normally enjoy so much stealth in games, but it seems to be done qu really well in this. I've really enjoyed the stealth in this. That's uh yeah, yeah, great get great little game that so nice.
SPEAKER_03Okay, well I will be I'm also away, so I'll be playing Switch 2, so a bit of Shadow Immortal. I forgot to say at the top of the show, I've been playing a bit of Metroid Dread. Uh if I mentioned that last week, I don't think I did. Um I find the Switch controls to be really finicky when you try and line up the shooting, even with the accurate button pulled down, like it can be quite hard to hit those little bots in the face when you want to, yeah, especially when you've got yourself all pumped up where you super pump up.
SPEAKER_00To just try and just be careful.
SPEAKER_03It feels more luck than judgment. There doesn't seem to be any skill involved. It's like you just gotta hope for a long enough corridor where it's gonna be forgiving enough where you can like literally dance the laser all the way across its face a million times before you get like blue oh fire fire. Um so yeah, I've been enjoying that, but I think I beat one of the bosses on it, and then I thought I'd saved it, and I went back on and I hadn't saved it.
SPEAKER_00Oh, that first boss in that big room, innit, where you yeah, you come in on the top level, don't you, to fight them, and yeah, I know what you mean. Yeah, that's a little bit disappointed about that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you have to learn the patterns there, don't you? And then I've like not played it for three or four days and then went back on. I was like, I don't even know where to be now. So I may start that again this weekend and just dedicate to it just to see it through.
SPEAKER_00It's a good game. I don't like it when the when that that bot thing chases you, and the only way you can if it gets you, you have to do that quick time. I've never done one. That's brutal, absolutely brutal. It's instant death for me. Uh yeah, you I don't know how to work that.
SPEAKER_03To be fair, I have actually managed to knock him back a couple of times and then slide on his legs.
SPEAKER_00Oh, well done, yeah.
SPEAKER_03And I I think the cue is the sound. Bam! Sing BAM!
SPEAKER_00Oh, okay, that makes sense.
SPEAKER_03Although it's 50-50.
SPEAKER_00You have to be on time with that, but are you playing on normal mode or have you dropped that to easy mode? Oh no, no, no. No, normal mode of you. Yeah, at least, yeah. Yeah, so it's a good game now. It's got real good essence of the Metroids of Past, that 2D side. I do like it, it's a good game.
SPEAKER_03I wish it if it didn't have those droids in it, the actual chill sort of puzzle exploration, I think, is like a really good callback to exactly what I said when I played it, yeah. Like the actual game, and it's like, oh yeah, I'm really loving this. This feels like a modern version of Metroid that I always wanted.
SPEAKER_00And then it's like, oh god, leg it, leg it, and then you end up legging it to a dead.
SPEAKER_03That's the dread element, right? Um and I dread 'em. Um, other than that, while I'm away, um, I'll take the full Switch 2 setup, or at least the carts in a box. So there might be a bit of Indiana Joe's, might be a bit of Star Wars Outlaws. Definitely we'll be playing a little bit more Shadow of Mordor. Um, maybe a bit of dread. I want to wake up in the morning. Um, if I can get internet, if not, I'll connect through my phone and go through I Still Love on a Saturday morning, settling down, getting my switch to out, going in the recommended for you. And at this point, it's so off-piece, it's unbelievable. And you go through these games like no no what the f no. Uh oh, we'll tell you another thing that I got in a sale was Final Fantasy VII remake for the Switch 2. It was like $9.99. And I thought, hang on, don't buy it there, get it physical. Went on CX and went, nah, get it digital. Although, mother hub it, it's a it's a storage killer.
SPEAKER_00What is it on there? Oh, it's a big boy. I think it's about 40 gig, isn't it, on there? I had to hammer down a load of things to get it to fit. Yeah, I think it's about 40, 39, 40 gig on there.
SPEAKER_03So I might I might give that a another go. I just want turn-based.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I can understand. I'm not a turn-based player, so this this is a hybrid version, so it's a bit of both. It's it's it's live action with sort of turn-based elements you you sort of pause and add combat in as you go, but I love the combat in this.
SPEAKER_03That is and as much as I love 15, and that's not turn-based at all. I didn't like 16, I love 13, I love the other ones, I like the turn-based element. I want to sit down and chill. I don't want to feel frantic and like stab, stab, stabby. I don't want to feel like I'm playing bayonetta, but I'll I'll I'll give it its due, I'll give it another shot. Um maybe this weekend, maybe not. But yeah, I'm looking forward to a chilled-out weekend. Obviously, it's a romantic weekend, so I probably shouldn't even be taking the Twitch, but you know, um, and the glutton for punishment RGT as is your rear-ended pleasure zone. And I think that's all we have time for this week, listeners. Always thank you for your time. We look forward to the pleasure of speaking to you again next week. Until then, happy gaming. And remember, there's nothing wrong with being given the unofficial controller, it's what you do with it that counts. See you, RGT, see you everyone. See you everyone. See you like Georgie Boy.
