Neither of his parents wanted him to be a professional football (soccer) player and wanted him to seek an education. After his father passed away he told his mother that he wanted to be a pro and she supported his dream.
Now, he's a professional player in Europe and has a contract with Anderlecht, one of the top teams in Belgium and is also on loan in Denmark so he can get more playing time.
