Easy is better than hard, all things being equal. But all things are not always equal. In fact, the more desirable the skill, object or accomplishment in question, the harder the quest seems to be. And that’s a good thing.

This week we will discuss why life has to be so hard in general; why I have never finished a William Faulkner book, and have no intention of doing so; how the seemingly impossible can be rendered entirely reasonable; and how order of operations can build either a car or a home in heaven.
