Introducing the BARR Model to IB Schools
Show Notes

in this episode of IB Matters we talk to Angela Jerabek, the founder of the BARR Model and one of her colleagues at the BARR Center, Hannah Scherer. As all IB educators know, there is much more going on in IB schools than just their respective IB Programmes.

Every school needs a strong and collaborative staff dedicated to the success of their students. Angela and her team have created, in the BARR model, a highly researched and effective set of strategies that is beginning to spread in IB schools (and non- IB schools) to ensure teachers have the means to identify student concerns and also the means to address them.

BARR stands for Building Assets, Reducing Risks and is an educational model that improves the education system and creates strong schools and communities by empowering students, teachers, staff and family with intentionally deepened relationships and data so that schools can re-align existing resources to nurture a unified and personalized culture of support and success for each and every student, both inside and outside of the classroom.

Listen as we introduce you to this intriguing way to make your school even more responsive to the development of IB principles and practices.
