Raquel Salas Rivera is the 2018-19 Poet Laureate of Philadelphia. They are the author of Caneca de anhelos turbios (Editora Educación Emergente), oropel/tinsel (Lark Books), tierra intermitente (Ediciones Alayubia), and lo terciario/the tertiary (Timeless, Infinite Light). Currently, they are co-editor of Puerto Rico en mi corazón, a collection of bilingual broadsides of contemporary Puerto Rican poets.
Yolanda Wisher is the author of Monk Eats an Afro (Hanging Loose Press) and Curator of Spoken Word for Philadelphia Contemporary. Wisher was named the inaugural Poet Laureate of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania in 1999 and the third Poet Laureate of Philadelphia in 2016. A Pew and Cave Canem Fellow, Wisher regularly performs a unique blend of poetry and song with her band The Afroeaters.
Husnaa Hashim is the 2017-2018 Youth Poet Laureate of Philadelphia and author of the poetry collection Honey Sequence (The Head & The Hand Press). A first year student at the University of Pennsylvania, Hashim has competed with the Philly Youth Poetry Movement, performed at various conferences and festivals, and received numerous Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, including a National American Voices Medal awarded at Carnegie Hall.
Dr. Bruce Campbell Jr. aka DJ Junior is an Associate Professor in the School of Education at Arcadia University. Dr. Campbell also runs his own independent record label, Record Breakin’ Music. He co-hosts his weekly radio show Eavesdrop Radio on 91.7FM in Philadelphia and also DJ’s locally, nationally, and internationally.
