We've"},{"startTime":138.54,"endTime":140.67,"body":"gone through some other"},{"startTime":140.67,"endTime":144.06,"body":"analytical processes. Before"},{"startTime":140.67,"endTime":144.06,"body":"this point, we had 40 statements"},{"startTime":144.06,"endTime":146.31,"body":"to begin with. And we've had"},{"startTime":144.06,"endTime":146.31,"body":"people consult and give"},{"startTime":146.31,"endTime":149.25,"body":"feedback. But now we've got it"},{"startTime":146.31,"endTime":149.25,"body":"down to 28. And we've been"},{"startTime":149.25,"endTime":152.67,"body":"asking people to complete this"},{"startTime":149.25,"endTime":152.67,"body":"survey. And also give us some"},{"startTime":152.67,"endTime":155.55,"body":"written feedback or not"},{"startTime":152.67,"endTime":155.55,"body":"feedback, but written views"},{"startTime":155.55,"endTime":158.31,"body":"about what they see the value of"},{"startTime":155.55,"endTime":158.31,"body":"design and technologies. Some"},{"startTime":212.1,"endTime":214.86,"body":"teachers didn't complete the"},{"startTime":214.86,"endTime":219.12,"body":"survey. So we've left that data,"},{"startTime":214.86,"endTime":219.12,"body":"we've got 19, that came from 10"},{"startTime":219.12,"endTime":222.12,"body":"different schools in England,"},{"startTime":219.12,"endTime":222.12,"body":"quite a wide variety of types of"},{"startTime":222.12,"endTime":225.18,"body":"schools as well. So we've got"},{"startTime":222.12,"endTime":225.18,"body":"from some of the schools, more"},{"startTime":225.18,"endTime":228.72,"body":"than one teachers, we've got"},{"startTime":225.18,"endTime":228.72,"body":"some student teachers in the"},{"startTime":228.72,"endTime":232.56,"body":"dataset as well, we've got some"},{"startTime":228.72,"endTime":232.56,"body":"classroom teachers, some heads"},{"startTime":232.56,"endTime":235.56,"body":"of department and some senior"},{"startTime":232.56,"endTime":235.56,"body":"leaders, so they've all self"},{"startTime":235.56,"endTime":239.34,"body":"identified, and how they would"},{"startTime":235.56,"endTime":239.34,"body":"identify their role. We've got"},{"startTime":239.34,"endTime":243.78,"body":"some males and female, we've got"},{"startTime":239.34,"endTime":243.78,"body":"actually five female and 14"},{"startTime":243.78,"endTime":248.76,"body":"male. And then we've also asked"},{"startTime":243.78,"endTime":248.76,"body":"people to tell us when they"},{"startTime":248.76,"endTime":251.22,"body":"stopped studying design and"},{"startTime":248.76,"endTime":251.22,"body":"technology, or if they even did"},{"startTime":251.22,"endTime":254.55,"body":"design, study design and"},{"startTime":251.22,"endTime":254.55,"body":"technology. Now the reason we've"},{"startTime":254.64,"endTime":257.88,"body":"asked for that, what am I called"},{"startTime":254.64,"endTime":257.88,"body":"demographic data is because we"},{"startTime":257.88,"endTime":261.51,"body":"were curious, based on other"},{"startTime":257.88,"endTime":261.51,"body":"research, we're kind of just"},{"startTime":261.51,"endTime":265.29,"body":"seeing if what other research"},{"startTime":261.51,"endTime":265.29,"body":"says about where values come"},{"startTime":265.29,"endTime":269.85,"body":"from and what kind of correlates"},{"startTime":265.29,"endTime":269.85,"body":"to people's values. We can see,"},{"startTime":269.85,"endTime":272.28,"body":"you know, our research and the"},{"startTime":269.85,"endTime":272.28,"body":"three things that were curious"},{"startTime":272.28,"endTime":275.16,"body":"about is people school"},{"startTime":272.28,"endTime":275.16,"body":"experience of design and"},{"startTime":275.16,"endTime":278.97,"body":"technology. So did what you did"},{"startTime":275.16,"endTime":278.97,"body":"at school, does that play out in"},{"startTime":279.0,"endTime":283.11,"body":"how you value it? So can we see"},{"startTime":279.0,"endTime":283.11,"body":"any patterns their gender, you"},{"startTime":283.11,"endTime":285.81,"body":"think based on other research,"},{"startTime":283.11,"endTime":285.81,"body":"that there's likely to be some"},{"startTime":285.81,"endTime":289.44,"body":"differences by gender, and"},{"startTime":285.81,"endTime":289.44,"body":"potentially also by school role?"},{"startTime":290.76,"endTime":294.99,"body":"So that's why we've asked that"},{"startTime":290.76,"endTime":294.99,"body":"that information. So the particular we"},{"startTime":331.829,"endTime":335.969,"body":"look at the group of female"},{"startTime":331.829,"endTime":335.969,"body":"teachers, there's only five of"},{"startTime":335.969,"endTime":338.909,"body":"those you can imagine if we're"},{"startTime":335.969,"endTime":338.909,"body":"starting to take averages and,"},{"startTime":339.179,"endTime":342.449,"body":"and do some different things"},{"startTime":339.179,"endTime":342.449,"body":"that any takes one teacher in"},{"startTime":342.449,"endTime":346.469,"body":"that group to rank things quite"},{"startTime":342.449,"endTime":346.469,"body":"differently to the others, it"},{"startTime":346.469,"endTime":349.919,"body":"sort of shifts the data quite"},{"startTime":346.469,"endTime":349.919,"body":"significantly. So we've kind of"},{"startTime":350.609,"endTime":355.289,"body":"got some caution about this. But"},{"startTime":350.609,"endTime":355.289,"body":"but it's an it's just kind of"},{"startTime":355.289,"endTime":359.879,"body":"giving us some, some interesting"},{"startTime":355.289,"endTime":359.879,"body":"things. So the first thing that"},{"startTime":359.879,"endTime":363.569,"body":"we found that we think is"},{"startTime":359.879,"endTime":363.569,"body":"interesting, maybe unsurprising,"},{"startTime":363.569,"endTime":368.129,"body":"but we think it's interesting is"},{"startTime":363.569,"endTime":368.129,"body":"that on the whole, these"},{"startTime":368.129,"endTime":376.679,"body":"teachers have all given a high"},{"startTime":368.129,"endTime":376.679,"body":"rating to all 28 statements. So"},{"startTime":376.709,"endTime":380.099,"body":"I think, remember it, we had a"},{"startTime":376.709,"endTime":380.099,"body":"scale of one to five, and so"},{"startTime":380.399,"endTime":385.259,"body":"pretty much everything has been"},{"startTime":380.399,"endTime":385.259,"body":"above the middle. Okay, so"},{"startTime":385.259,"endTime":389.369,"body":"three, four and five, one or two"},{"startTime":385.259,"endTime":389.369,"body":"have kind of been a little bit"},{"startTime":389.369,"endTime":392.129,"body":"below for some people, for"},{"startTime":389.369,"endTime":392.129,"body":"individuals, but generally,"},{"startTime":392.369,"endTime":395.879,"body":"they've all been high. That's what"},{"startTime":399.089,"endTime":402.839,"body":"our first set of data showed us"},{"startTime":402.839,"endTime":405.659,"body":"that, you know, these were the"},{"startTime":402.839,"endTime":405.659,"body":"28 statements, and now we're"},{"startTime":405.659,"endTime":408.629,"body":"testing it out with another and"},{"startTime":405.659,"endTime":408.629,"body":"another group of teachers, and"},{"startTime":408.899,"endTime":411.359,"body":"then we seem to be getting some"},{"startTime":408.899,"endTime":411.359,"body":"similar, similar sort of"},{"startTime":411.359,"endTime":417.569,"body":"feedback from them. But as I've"},{"startTime":411.359,"endTime":417.569,"body":"just intimated, whilst, on the"},{"startTime":417.569,"endTime":422.579,"body":"whole, everything is highly"},{"startTime":417.569,"endTime":422.579,"body":"rated, there were some"},{"startTime":422.609,"endTime":428.789,"body":"individual differences. And, and"},{"startTime":422.609,"endTime":428.789,"body":"that's kind of that's where the,"},{"startTime":429.269,"endTime":434.249,"body":"the interesting bit, I suppose,"},{"startTime":429.269,"endTime":434.249,"body":"comes into it. So what we've"},{"startTime":434.249,"endTime":438.599,"body":"played around with is when we've"},{"startTime":434.249,"endTime":438.599,"body":"looked at these five categories,"},{"startTime":439.229,"endTime":445.079,"body":"they're all, you know, averaging"},{"startTime":439.229,"endTime":445.079,"body":"high end, the one that came out"},{"startTime":445.619,"endTime":450.269,"body":"the lowest, and we're kind of"},{"startTime":445.619,"endTime":450.269,"body":"talking marginally lowest was"},{"startTime":450.269,"endTime":457.289,"body":"around making, which kind of"},{"startTime":450.269,"endTime":457.289,"body":"wasn't that surprising to me."},{"startTime":458.849,"endTime":462.029,"body":"We've also captured information"},{"startTime":458.849,"endTime":462.029,"body":"about how old people are. And I"},{"startTime":462.029,"endTime":465.359,"body":"think, I'm just speculating"},{"startTime":462.029,"endTime":465.359,"body":"here, we haven't looked at this"},{"startTime":465.359,"endTime":470.999,"body":"in our data set that maybe"},{"startTime":465.359,"endTime":470.999,"body":"people who are older, whether"},{"startTime":470.999,"endTime":473.909,"body":"that's they've been in the"},{"startTime":470.999,"endTime":473.909,"body":"profession for longer, or they"},{"startTime":473.909,"endTime":479.999,"body":"are, later into the profession,"},{"startTime":473.909,"endTime":479.999,"body":"may may value, that aspect of"},{"startTime":479.999,"endTime":484.319,"body":"design and technology more than"},{"startTime":479.999,"endTime":484.319,"body":"than people who are younger,"},{"startTime":484.619,"endTime":486.959,"body":"don't know that. I've got no"},{"startTime":484.619,"endTime":486.959,"body":"evidence for that. But we're"},{"startTime":486.959,"endTime":491.909,"body":"just kind of listening to this"},{"startTime":486.959,"endTime":491.909,"body":"to explore. But"},{"startTime":511.379,"endTime":514.859,"body":"what was more interesting was"},{"startTime":511.379,"endTime":514.859,"body":"that when we looked at the"},{"startTime":514.859,"endTime":519.719,"body":"female responses, that was the"},{"startTime":514.859,"endTime":519.719,"body":"widest range of responses in"},{"startTime":519.719,"endTime":522.869,"body":"terms of the rating, so if I go"},{"startTime":519.719,"endTime":522.869,"body":"back to this idea that people"},{"startTime":522.869,"endTime":529.109,"body":"had to rate it from of least"},{"startTime":522.869,"endTime":529.109,"body":"value to most value, the female"},{"startTime":529.109,"endTime":532.559,"body":"respondents kind of almost use"},{"startTime":529.109,"endTime":532.559,"body":"the full spectrum that didn't"},{"startTime":532.559,"endTime":536.669,"body":"quite go down as no value that"},{"startTime":532.559,"endTime":536.669,"body":"kind of use the full spectrum,"},{"startTime":536.669,"endTime":542.909,"body":"whereas the male respondents, it"},{"startTime":536.669,"endTime":542.909,"body":"was a smaller bandwidth of"},{"startTime":542.909,"endTime":546.929,"body":"variation. They're a"},{"startTime":574.439,"endTime":578.609,"body":"student teacher without weapons,"},{"startTime":574.439,"endTime":578.609,"body":"anything in that kind of project"},{"startTime":578.609,"endTime":581.489,"body":"anything particularly conclusive"},{"startTime":578.609,"endTime":581.489,"body":"here, but we're thinking, Oh,"},{"startTime":581.489,"endTime":587.459,"body":"that's that. And generally the"},{"startTime":827.85,"endTime":831.9,"body":"largest body collective of"},{"startTime":827.85,"endTime":831.9,"body":"voices that we hear talking"},{"startTime":831.9,"endTime":836.88,"body":"about the value of the subjects"},{"startTime":831.9,"endTime":836.88,"body":"and so we kind of get a sense"},{"startTime":836.88,"endTime":840.66,"body":"that on the on the ground, so to"},{"startTime":836.88,"endTime":840.66,"body":"speak, in the in the, in the"},{"startTime":840.66,"endTime":845.04,"body":"place where the subject is being"},{"startTime":840.66,"endTime":845.04,"body":"taught, you know, the ethos of"},{"startTime":845.04,"endTime":849.42,"body":"the value of the subject is is"},{"startTime":845.04,"endTime":849.42,"body":"at its strongest, its loudest,"},{"startTime":849.42,"endTime":851.64,"body":"it's my vocal hasn't met"},{"startTime":849.42,"endTime":851.64,"body":"greatest number of voices, I'm"},{"startTime":851.64,"endTime":854.46,"body":"kind of sort of exploring,"},{"startTime":851.64,"endTime":854.46,"body":"exploring with my language"},{"startTime":854.46,"endTime":860.34,"body":"there, you get get the idea. Why did they think"},{"startTime":867.96,"endTime":870.96,"body":"what do they think the value of"},{"startTime":867.96,"endTime":870.96,"body":"design and technology was? And"},{"startTime":870.96,"endTime":877.05,"body":"there's some anomalies? Making"},{"startTime":870.96,"endTime":877.05,"body":"actually is mentioned a lot by"},{"startTime":877.05,"endTime":881.01,"body":"the 19 teachers, actually by 17"},{"startTime":877.05,"endTime":881.01,"body":"of the 19 teachers in their"},{"startTime":881.01,"endTime":884.16,"body":"written responses, and we're"},{"startTime":881.01,"endTime":884.16,"body":"kind of left. So what does that"},{"startTime":884.16,"endTime":888.81,"body":"mean? Why, why is it not as high"},{"startTime":889.59,"endTime":893.67,"body":"in the quantitative as, as the"},{"startTime":889.59,"endTime":893.67,"body":"other categories are? But yet"},{"startTime":893.67,"endTime":897.33,"body":"it's mentioned repeatedly by the"},{"startTime":893.67,"endTime":897.33,"body":"teachers when they've been asked"},{"startTime":897.33,"endTime":901.74,"body":"to type their responses. There's"},{"startTime":897.33,"endTime":901.74,"body":"a lot of research out there that"},{"startTime":901.74,"endTime":904.26,"body":"talks about that we say one"},{"startTime":901.74,"endTime":904.26,"body":"thing and then and then we do"},{"startTime":904.26,"endTime":909.21,"body":"another. And so we wondered if"},{"startTime":904.26,"endTime":909.21,"body":"there was some of that going on"},{"startTime":909.21,"endTime":913.41,"body":"in the survey. And people might"},{"startTime":909.21,"endTime":913.41,"body":"respond to a survey in one"},{"startTime":913.41,"endTime":919.35,"body":"particular way. That they that"},{"startTime":913.41,"endTime":919.35,"body":"is more truthful, honest, their"},{"startTime":919.35,"endTime":923.94,"body":"perception of truth. And then in"},{"startTime":919.35,"endTime":923.94,"body":"the written way might feel oh,"},{"startTime":923.94,"endTime":929.1,"body":"this is more exposing"},{"startTime":923.94,"endTime":929.1,"body":"subconsciously, I need to alter"},{"startTime":929.1,"endTime":931.65,"body":"I'm getting myself confused in"},{"startTime":929.1,"endTime":931.65,"body":"the in the written might might"},{"startTime":931.65,"endTime":933.96,"body":"think I need to say or it's not,"},{"startTime":931.65,"endTime":933.96,"body":"it's not come out strongly"},{"startTime":933.96,"endTime":936.84,"body":"enough in the in the surveys, I"},{"startTime":933.96,"endTime":936.84,"body":"want to write it I need to get"},{"startTime":936.84,"endTime":942.48,"body":"my point across. And then that"},{"startTime":936.84,"endTime":942.48,"body":"leads on to well, what what"},{"startTime":942.48,"endTime":949.02,"body":"would we see in the classroom in"},{"startTime":942.48,"endTime":949.02,"body":"terms of if we if these teachers"},{"startTime":949.02,"endTime":952.53,"body":"invited us to go and watch them"},{"startTime":949.02,"endTime":952.53,"body":"teach otter look at schemes of"},{"startTime":952.53,"endTime":955.68,"body":"work or talk to pupils in the"},{"startTime":952.53,"endTime":955.68,"body":"class. And we have got data from"},{"startTime":955.68,"endTime":959.58,"body":"pupils in their schools as well"},{"startTime":955.68,"endTime":959.58,"body":"for us to analyse, Are there"},{"startTime":959.58,"endTime":963.27,"body":"similarities to the because we"},{"startTime":959.58,"endTime":963.27,"body":"know the research says as well"},{"startTime":963.27,"endTime":967.77,"body":"that the the values we have are"},{"startTime":963.27,"endTime":967.77,"body":"influenced from a younger,"},{"startTime":967.77,"endTime":970.65,"body":"particularly by those in"},{"startTime":967.77,"endTime":970.65,"body":"authority. And so for pupils,"},{"startTime":970.65,"endTime":975.33,"body":"the DN T teachers, the parents,"},{"startTime":970.65,"endTime":975.33,"body":"senior leaders in schools are"},{"startTime":975.33,"endTime":979.23,"body":"up, you know, school form tutors"},{"startTime":975.33,"endTime":979.23,"body":"and Sajha are the authority. And"},{"startTime":979.23,"endTime":980.49,"body":"so we're kind of interested"},{"startTime":979.23,"endTime":980.49,"body":"about whether there's a"},{"startTime":980.49,"endTime":984.6,"body":"relationship between what those"},{"startTime":980.49,"endTime":984.6,"body":"authorities say the value of"},{"startTime":984.6,"endTime":989.01,"body":"design and technologies and what"},{"startTime":984.6,"endTime":989.01,"body":"the what the children say. So"},{"startTime":989.01,"endTime":992.25,"body":"that goes back to my idea about"},{"startTime":989.01,"endTime":992.25,"body":"thinking about the ethos of the"},{"startTime":992.25,"endTime":996.57,"body":"values that's happening in, in"},{"startTime":992.25,"endTime":996.57,"body":"classrooms. So there's kind of"},{"startTime":996.57,"endTime":1000.38,"body":"quite a lot going on there. And"},{"startTime":996.57,"endTime":1000.38,"body":"that's just been really excited"},{"startTime":1000.38,"endTime":1005.3,"body":"to get that just from 19"},{"startTime":1000.38,"endTime":1005.3,"body":"responses, which, as I've said,"},{"startTime":1005.3,"endTime":1009.95,"body":"already, we can't make any great"},{"startTime":1005.3,"endTime":1009.95,"body":"claims, or draw any fantastic"},{"startTime":1009.95,"endTime":1014.78,"body":"conclusions, but we can start to"},{"startTime":1009.95,"endTime":1014.78,"body":"speculate. And then just"},{"startTime":1014.78,"endTime":1018.86,"body":"finally, the other interesting"},{"startTime":1014.78,"endTime":1018.86,"body":"thing, and that came out in the"},{"startTime":1018.86,"endTime":1022.43,"body":"qualitative responses, the"},{"startTime":1018.86,"endTime":1022.43,"body":"written responses, is that on"},{"startTime":1022.43,"endTime":1026.6,"body":"the whole, what people wrote"},{"startTime":1022.43,"endTime":1026.6,"body":"matched with our five"},{"startTime":1026.6,"endTime":1029.63,"body":"categories, we were able to"},{"startTime":1026.6,"endTime":1029.63,"body":"think, oh, yeah, that relates to"},{"startTime":1029.66,"endTime":1032.96,"body":"making Oh, yeah, that relates to"},{"startTime":1029.66,"endTime":1032.96,"body":"critical thinking, and so on."},{"startTime":1033.41,"endTime":1036.86,"body":"But there were a number of"},{"startTime":1033.41,"endTime":1036.86,"body":"statements, things about 15"},{"startTime":1036.86,"endTime":1041.78,"body":"statements that didn't fit. But"},{"startTime":1036.86,"endTime":1041.78,"body":"actually, we were able to group"},{"startTime":1041.78,"endTime":1047.06,"body":"them into three different"},{"startTime":1041.78,"endTime":1047.06,"body":"groups. And those groups were in"},{"startTime":1047.06,"endTime":1051.65,"body":"our original 40 statements.
