TechInAfrica – As part of its efforts to youth empowerment, AirtelTigo hosted young entrepreneurs from Junior Achievement (JA) Ghana, providing them with practical experience in using technology and contribute to their communities. The young entrepreneurs paid a visit to AirtelTigo’s headquarters in Accra which was part of the Start-Up Academy program organized by JA Ghana in collaboration with Aiducation International and Swiss Re Foundation. They had a chance to meet and interacted with the Business to Business (B2B), Commercial and Human Resources teams on key topics like product development, go-to-market strategies, startup-enabled technologies, and HR policies.

According to the CEO of AirtelTigo, Mitwa Kaemba Ng’ambi, the visit was part of the company’s commitment to collaborate with organizations like JA Ghana to build future leaders for the country using information communication technology. Patrick Donkor, one of the young entrerogapreneurs and a student of the University of Cape Coast, shared his experience on the visit to AirtelTigo’s headquarters in Accra. He said: “This visit has helped me to understand how products are conceived from an idea to when it is eventually brought up in the market.”

Donkor went on, “So, as a budding entrepreneur, when I have an idea I don’t have to just start implementing, I have to take it through a series of tests which will let me be sure whether the idea I am putting out there will meet the needs of the target audience.”
JA Ghana which organized the Start-Up Academy program is a non-profit program under the JAAfrica & Worldwide network. It is dedicated to support and empower youths to gain economic success through relevant education.

The program mainly focuses on work readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy, as well as encourage youths to experience the realities of work and life in this 21st century.
