Laura Ramirez-Drain

Laura Ramirez-Drain is a unique political candidate running in her first election. She is an engineer, small business entrepreneur and a parent of two sons who attended FCPS schools, from elementary to high school. She has been advocating for students for many years as an active PTA volunteer.

In 2006 Laura founded the Alcanzando Metas Foundation. She set up the foundation to foster the academic excellence of minority youth. The foundation aimed to strengthen academic success in science, mathematics, and technology. In a six-year run, the foundations programs helped over 200 Latino students successfully graduate from area high schools.

Laura states, “I’m running to be a voice for people with children, grandchildren, nephews, nieces and families of the Hunter Mill District and all of Fairfax County. I believe in the importance of a high-quality public education for all students."
