ReMembering and ReEnchanting Podcast: Episode #1 What is ReMembering?
It's the first episode of our new ReMembering and ReEnchanting Podcast! I'm Sara Jolena Wolcott, the creator of Sequoia Samanvaya, an ecotheology community connecting the disconnected in our amazing and precarious times. We are delighted to have you join our sacred learning conversation!
I am joined for our first series of conversations by my dear friend, ecotheologian, and fellow ReMembering teacher Christopher Fici. Chris is a soon-to-be Ph.D in ecotheology and is an avid explorer of the practice of anticipatory community.
In this first episode, we explore and deepen the term "remembering", which is both an everyday term and one that can invite us to delve deep into who we are, where we come from and why we are here.
In this podcast we seek multiple forms of ReMembrance: to re-ground ourselves in the body of the earth, our ancestors and the Spirit; to re-integrate the history of climate change into the history of colonization; to reconnect stone and bone, to rejoin people and place; to re-integrate body wisdom into our collective wisdom.
Join us for these spiritual journeys through time and space. Dig into the root causes of violence against people and place which manifest as inequalities, injustice, and ecological traumas. From the remnants of (more) truthfully rendered traumas can arise life: abundant, glorious, transformational.
Of course, we could not have this podcast without our many ancestors, mentors, spiritual guides and teachers. Chris and I met through our studies at Union Theological Seminary, and we give particular appreciation to the ethicist Dr. Larry Rasmussen, whose work on Earth Honoring ways of being has been deeply inspirational, and the late Dr. Cone, the grandfather of black theology, and whose capacity as a teacher has significantly influenced our work.
