00:10:56.320 Jesus gave us that command, go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, the Holy Spirit, teaching them what I have commanded you, and I will be with you to the end of the age. 00:10:56.399 --> 00:10:59.679 And in Acts 1.8, we see the Holy Spirit show up. 00:10:59.759 --> 00:11:12.480 Uh or Acts 2, we see the Holy Spirit show up, but in Acts 1.8, Jesus is telling the people that the Holy Spirit will come upon you and will give you power to be his witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, and to the ends of the earth. 00:11:12.639 --> 00:11:18.639 And so no matter what you do, as we saw in those first two scripture verses, do it to the glory of God. 00:11:18.799 --> 00:11:23.759 But right now we are discussing work and being a disciple at work. 00:11:24.320 --> 00:11:29.840 Ben mentioned that the first step of being a disciple at work is to be a disciple. 00:11:31.360 --> 00:11:36.080 Sounds kind of duh, but um there's a little bit of a trick to this. 00:11:36.159 --> 00:11:44.720 So here at DCC, we are slowly trying to move into this point of where we no longer use the word volunteer. 00:11:45.840 --> 00:11:47.519 There's a reason for that. 00:11:48.080 --> 00:11:54.080 Um Jesus, you learn to read the scriptures. 00:11:54.320 --> 00:12:03.440 You fast, you pray, you sabbath, you give generously, you visit the sick, you visit those in prison. 00:12:03.519 --> 00:12:08.879 There's a lot of things that Jesus just did and calls us to do as we walk with him. 00:12:09.039 --> 00:12:10.399 And those are disciples. 00:12:10.559 --> 00:12:17.679 And here at DCC, we are called to love God, make disciples, and be great neighbors. 00:12:18.000 --> 00:12:20.399 But we say nothing about volunteers. that you've seen out here and the women that we've had that have had those little jackets on that are out here helping you find a place to park when you pull up to the church, they're not just 00:13:40.559 --> 00:13:53.840 You will see in all these different things that disciples do, there are people in this world that will take some of those characteristics and just see them as good 00:14:25.759 --> 00:14:33.440 You have various things that people will take, these small characteristics, these ways of living and the things that's that we saw Jesus do. 00:14:33.600 --> 00:14:41.039 But the individual tasks do not make you a disciple, it is following and walking in the path of Christ that does this. 00:14:41.519 --> 00:14:46.480 And so, for here at DCC, we seek to make disciples. 00:14:47.360 --> 00:14:56.879 And so those are the kind of some of the characteristics, some of the following of Jesus that makes you hopefully answer yes when you ask, Are you a disciple? of like, hopefully, throughout this last week, that you have been able to see different places at your work where there are needs that need to be met, and hopefully you've entered into those.
