James:

Hello everyone, this is James Long Jr. And welcome to Lessons for Life. The verse that you can see partly behind me is from Romans chapter 12, and it says, be joyful in hope. Patient and affliction and faithful in prayer. Those are foundational in the work that I do, and I really we need to have hope. The hope of the gospel, the hope of an empty tomb, the hope of a resurrected savior, the hope of ascended savior, patient, and affliction, that God is saying that suffering will produce perseverance and character and hope. And do not be surprised at the fiery trials that you endure as though something strange is happening in you. God is at work and then faithful in prayer. These are foundational in my ministry and foundational in my life. I want to tell you a little bit about our I three A approach that we use issues, aim, adapt, and apply issues is we first help a person identify their problems, the core problems, their difficulties that they're struggling with. It's so important to help a person identify not only the surface issues, but the deeper issues and we want them to come to a place after that to make a commitment that they want to change those struggles in their lives. Well, there's I issues that leads to aim. Aim is the biblical response. What has God done or what has God expect so that we can glorify him? God wants us to center our lives on the Lord Jesus Christ. He wants us to be word centered. Christ Center Spirit enabled and glorifying God, and those are the aims of our lives. So we help people to identify the gap between their issues and where God has an aim for their lives. And that gap in the middle, the wider the gap, the greater the disharmony and dysfunction in a person's life. The smaller the gap, the greater the harmony, and more like Christ that they're looking. And so the gap that is there, what we do is we move them from issues, aim, and then we move them to adapting. We want them to develop plans for change, and we have three specific plans that we help people work through a daily plan, or we call it a construction plan, a reconciliation plan, and a temptation plan. These three things are so important. We need a daily plan of what we need to do every single day. In our lives to make the gaps smaller between our issues and what God would want. We also help them not only to have that daily plan, but a temptation plan. A temptation plan is their greatest level of temptation, their greatest level of struggle. How are they going to deal with it when that struggle comes and it comes fiercely. So there is the. Daily plan or a construction plan, our temptation plan. And then finally we have them develop a reconciliation plan. How do they seek forgiveness from others and from God? Or how do they grant forgiveness to others who have harmed them? So that's issue, aim, adapt. And then the final piece is apply. Well, what good is it if you identify a problem and identify where you want to go and identify how you're gonna get there if you don't apply it? And so we've tried to help people to apply the principles and we help them to do that with three steps. We want them to have support, we want them to sustain the changes. And then we want them to share what they've learned first. They need to sustain the changes in their lives. Things that they have put on those plans they need to be doing. It's not enough to have them on paper. They need to be applying them in their lives. They need to sustain the changes they need to get support, not only from me, but more importantly from other people in their community. Community. And then finally, they need to share what they're learning. They should be applying then and helping that with others. So that's our program issue. Aim, adapt, and apply. We do that over a series of courses. We do that in our blogs and podcasts. Those are the principles that we use. If you are interested, I have opened up. 10 slots over this next several months to help individuals. I've been really excited about helping people in groups with freedom, from fear, worrying anxiety, relational wisdom, and then our Time for change program. But I have opened up 10 individual slots.
