Madelyn Walker competed in pageants twice before deciding to compete for the title of Miss City of Orange. Before the age of 18, she had no prior introduction to pageant experience and competed for Miss Anaheim Hills and Miss Canyon Hills. This past pageant, Madelyn was awarded the title of Miss City of Orange with a strong campaign on sexual harassment education and prevention by becoming an advocate for the community and even leading a TED TALK at a local high school. Madelyn strives to make the community a better place.
Connie Benson is an alumnus of Chapman University and is super involved in the community. Growing up in Oregon, pageantry was a huge part of the culture in her hometown. On top of being a lawyer by day, she runs the Orange County sector of pageantry, which enriches her life. Connie loves watching girls who have never walked in heels give it a try. One of their favorite parts of pageantry culture is busting myths. Miss America is a scholarship organization. In this pageant today, judging based on beauty has been removed from the competition and the interview portion has a lot more emphasis. They like to say women are never competing against each other, they’re competing against being the best version of themselves. Listen in this week as Kelly, Maddie, and Connie discuss the myths of pageantry, the responsibility of being Miss City of Orange, and their love of the craft!
Maddie will attend University of California, Los Angeles this fall to earn a bachelor's degree. She plans on attending medical school after she finishes her undergraduate.

It only take 3 minutes to sign up and you’ll be invited to an orientation meeting on October 6th. Leading up to the program are FREE workshops Saturday’s from 10-1 to get you ready!
