The Parable of the Good Samaritan is known by many. It never goes out of style because it is as relevant today as it was 2000 years ago. We all carry prejudices. We have ideas that lead us into self-righteous thinking and our behavior follows.
In the Good Samaritan, Jesus reminds us of what it is to serve our neighbors. Whether we like them or not, we are all called to love and serve all of mankind. Christ teaches unconditional love via the actions of the Samaritan. He reveals human nature through the actions of the Priest and the Levite. Which one are you?
Before any of us gets to high on themselves, it is always good to think about what kind of treatment you would want out of someone towards you. If you were hurting would it matter if an enemy offered help? If you were in need you would receive from anyone willing to offer. Hopefully, it will be more than just your friends that are willing to offer.
