This week the Message is with Pastor Ricardo Lopez titled Foundations for Life from Sunday August 30 2026.

The following are scritpures and notes that were used:

1 John 4:7-8

Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God.  Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God.  But anyone who does not love does not know God , for God is love.

Psalm 103:8

The LORD is compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry love.

Science: It explains the mechanisms, brain shifts, attachment patterns.  circuites , hormone works.

Scripture: It focuses on its meaning.  It attempts to tell us how it It tells us what it is for and how it should look when lived out.

Science: Explains love in evolutionary and psychological terms as useful and adaptive.  Values healthy reciprocity, does not require truth.  Sees sacrifice as situationally beneficial to the individual or group wellbeing.  It’s instinctual, not a choice.

Scripture:  Roots love in God’s character, not human wellbeing. Calls people to love beyond what’s deserved.  It’s a • choice. • Its intrinsically linked with truth, and Sacrifice is it’s central image but not as a beneficial action but as a redeeming manifestation of its own nature.

1 John 4:9-10

God showed us how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him.  This is real love not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as sacrifice to take away our sin.

1 John 3:23

And this is his commandment: We must believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as He commanded us.

John 13:34-35

So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other.  Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.  Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.

Loving each other when Jesus said: Mathew 5:44 “ like Jesus loved us is difficult, specially But I say, Love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you!”

Luke 6:27-28

“But to you who are willing to listen, I say, love your enemies! Do good to those who hate you.  Bless those who curse you.  Pray for those who hurt you.”

• God’s attributes aren’t competing parts: • God’s love is Just and God’s justice is loving Justice aims at restoring not punishing • Love speaks truth –– Truth without love lacks compassion and mercy, Love without truth becomes sentimental and unfruitful.

John 8:10-11

Then Jesus stood up again and said to the woman, “where are your accusers? Didn’t even one of them condemn you?” “No, Lord” she said. And Jesus said, “Neither do I.  Go and sin no more”

Ephesians 4:31-32

Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of eveil behaviour .  Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.

1 Peter 4:78

The end of the world is coming soon.  Therefore, be earnest and disciplined in your prayers.  Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins.

 Romans 12:10

Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other

Further Scriptures were read: 1 Corinthians 13
