How much power do other people’s opinions have over your peace? In Luke 12:1-12, Jesus warns His disciples that the fear of people can lead to hypocrisy, image management, and spiritual bondage. AK Kuruvilla explains how fearing and trusting God frees us from the need to control how others see us and allows us to live with honesty, integrity, and courageous faith.

• The fear of people becomes a trap when we depend on others to provide our acceptance, approval, significance, love, respect, or security.

• The fear of God shifts our attention from managing our image to living faithfully before the One who already sees and knows everything.

• Because God values us, cares for us, and gives us His Spirit, we can acknowledge Jesus confidently without being controlled by rejection or opposition.

Key Scriptures:

Luke 12:1-12
Proverbs 29:25
Luke 11:42-43
Romans 10:9-10

Identify the people whose opinions seem to control your peace. Whose approval makes your heart rise, and whose rejection causes it to fall? Ask what you may be believing about God that gives that person so much influence over your soul. Then choose to trust the God who knows you completely, values you deeply, and frees you to pursue integrity. If this message encouraged or challenged you, share it with a friend or family member who may be struggling with people pleasing or the fear of rejection.
