Have you begun exploring what it means to follow Christ, but are sensing that there is more? Maybe you've been a Christian a while but have moved away from your closeness with Christ. In this series, we talk about some key elements to growing and getting stronger as a follower of Christ.
Colossians 3: 22-25
If we live to be 70, the avg. person spends...
24 years sleeping
6 years of total time eating
5 years in transit
4 years in conversation
5 years in school, studying, or reading
4 years in misc. pursuits (incl. serving God)
8 years in recreation (TV, sports, hobbies)
14 years at work
The Bigger Picture:
- There is a reason that work is hard
- Work is not all bad
- Work is not a curse. The curse just made work difficult.
- Your work is very important to God
#1. Do your job
Colossians 3: 22
A lack of submission to God-given authority is a lack of submission to God.
#2. Do your best, seeing God as your boss
Colossians 3: 22b-25
If we live like God tells us to live, Christians would be known as the best workers.
Proverbs 15: 3
#3. Use your job for God's glory
Colossians 3: 23
How could my job bring glory to God?
You produce a product or service
You produce income
3 primary reasons for income:
- to provide for our needs
- to provide for our family
- to provide for God’s work
You impact lives through your job
