Hello and welcome to the Super Size Phys Ed podcast. My name is Dave and today I want to talk about summer break and some of the things you can do to enhance your knowledge and make your program the best it can be for the next school year. So, without further ado, here we go, All right, everybody. So I just want to go through some things that I put out in the past. Well little bit that it can help you with your summer professional development or summer plans to work on your program for the fall. So these are things that a lot of these are free. Some of them are free, Some of them are not but I want to just go through some of the things that I, just as a reminder, that are out there for you, that I've created in the past well, I guess lots of years, but some are newer that I might not have talked about on the show recently, and I will actually make this a boomer so I can break this down step-by-step. So if it's something you're interested in that you could check out in the show notes, so here's number one. Something you're interested in that you could check out in the show notes, so here's number one. All right, Number one is just go to my website, supersizefizadcom. It has all the things and links to them and you know, just, it's the hub for what I do and the things I put out and between the articles, the courses, just everything on there. And so that's number one. I'll make it real short, that's just. The hub is supersizedphysedcom and the link is in the show notes. All these links are in the show notes. So that's number one, All right. Number two are the kind of the free things I have out there. There's a lot of free things I have out there. So the first I'll talk about is if you just join me on Substack. So Substack is kind of like Twitter for writers and creators. There are feeds and chats and things and things. It's where I share my PE tips, games, strategies, articles on just inspirational people, things like that. So, but I always tie it back to PE. Like if I talk about I guess one of my articles not too long ago was about DeMar Hamlin of the Buffalo Bills, because that's my team, you know is about his. You know what happened to him on the field and then how his life changed and how. You know maybe sometimes your perspective on life or your, you know your purpose in life changes and I tie that back into PE. So everything I write is tied back into PE. That's not the only thing I wrote about, and recently I've written things about just legacy and attention grabbers and you know. So some some very tactical, like invasion games, but some more, I guess, not subjective, but more just inspirational, I guess. So that's Substack and also on Medium. That's another place. I write where there's just it's just articles. That's not really a feed like Subst. I write where it's just articles. That's not really a feed like Substack, but that's just articles. So if you're a reader and you want to learn more about strategies and tips and games and things like that and inspiration, that is Substack and Medium. And again, everything's in the show notes, All right, Some of the free things in the links and on my website there's a free video course on just what I call a PE9.
Dave:And that's in the book that I wrote that I'll talk about in a moment. It is based on just upping your game and how you can do that, and that's not just in PE but that's in life and it's about a 20 minute video, but it's a free video course. I think it's one of the best things I've created, actually just really focused and on point with getting your PE program the best it can be, but also getting, I guess, inspiration for your life. So a free video course. One of the main things I've had and I've had this for a while, so a lot of you have this is that my free ebook on setting up your PE program. I took that down for a little while but I realized that was one of the cornerstones of PE for a lot of people, so I kept that up and I'm going to keep that up. I'm going to free ebook on just setting up your program and just all the basics that you need to know for, yeah, all the basics for setting up your program, especially if you're a newer teacher. So that is some of the free stuff. And there's a lot of free things on my website between articles, some PDFs and in all the blog posts and things like that.
Dave:All right, so my book I actually changed the title of my book um, it was the teacher, the chef and hockey player, and now it's high fives and empowering lives a physical educator's quest for excellence. And that is, uh, very affordable. It's 2.99 um as a download and 9 nine 99 as a paperback. Um, it's. It's about a teacher that was struggling, a young teacher that's struggling and he finds mentors to help him along the way and he teaches, or he gets taught, the PE nine, which are nine principles that help him along the way. Um, I'm really proud of it. I actually have a sequel that's already done, just in the final stages of being edited, and I'm going to get that out, hopefully at the end of this year, Just really excited about it. So if you want to check that out, it's basically a PE book in narration form. It's like a story form and learning different, uh, tactical, you know, tips on how to make your program better, and it's very PE specific. So definitely a lot of tactics for you there. Um, I also have a along with that free course. That video course goes along with the book and a workbook, which is free, that goes along with the book as well. So that is all my book that I put out and I know you'll love it. A lot of people have read it and enjoyed it, so I appreciate it if you check that out, All right.
Dave:Next we have my courses and I revamped both these courses. One is very specific. It's about setting up a sport ed unit. In this case, I do my sport ed chookball unit every year with fifth grade and how I do it. It's just videos and the PDFs and you know I shared the checklists and things like that and, again, super affordable.
Dave:If you wanted to get more specific and on a general note, my other course is the first week of PE, just setting up everything, and it's a four video course that goes through everything how to you know set up your classes, how to set up your. You know what you do with the equipment and how to write grants classes, how to set up your. You know what you do with the equipment and how to write grants. And, um, you know just how to go through your calendar and your units. And you know set up your music and set up your. You know figure out your signals and things like that. So, and procedures and all sorts of stuff.
Dave:So, um, and that has a lot of goodies at the end. That has a lot of PDFs, has a lot of goodies at the end. It has a lot of PDFs, a lot of extra things like just checklists and different games and things like that. That I just put right in there. And I also added a thing if you want me to, it's an extra kind of bonus course or a bonus to the course If you want me to mentor you. That's another thing with Zoom calls. So that's in the show notes as well. All this is in the show notes and so, yeah, I'm excited about that because I revamped it and added, just kind of retooled it and updated a lot of the things there. So that is my first week of PE course, especially if you're a newer teacher or newer listener and you want to just add some extra things to your program. So that is, those are my two courses, Again, the Sport Ad Unit, which is very specific, and the first week of PE, which is more general, but it covers everything you need to know and even some games to play in the first week or two of school just for cooperative learning and team building, things like that.
Dave:All right, so finally, is my Teachers Pay Teachers store. I have about I think it's in the 30s of things in there, like 33, 34 things in there, Lots of PDFs that I mark down to make sure they're affordable, and I put a lot of things on sale and actually some of the videos are in there of the course. I just talked about just specific videos, but not the extra stuff. If you want to just get the video videos of those, there's four videos. Like I said, you can get those separately or as a bundle, so it's a little more affordable. There is my bag borrow and steal, or bag borrow what I call a bag borrow, build and steal equipment a e-book which is in there as well. Lots of great things If you need help with your equipment or grant writing, things like that. So that is my Teachers Pay Teachers store. Lots of things in there Again lots of PDFs, lots of strategies, lots of games, e-books, things like that. So that is, yeah, the final thing. Teachers pay teachers. So I appreciate your help on that and, yeah, that's the final boomer.
Dave:So now let's talk about your cowbell tip of the day.
Dave:All right, so your tip of the day is not even to necessarily get something from me although I'd love it if you support the show by purchasing something but even just free articles or just get in the game.
Dave:I say, put in the work during summer break.
Dave:Yes, take your time off, rest, enjoy time off, um, rest, enjoy your family, enjoy your friends, enjoy your life.
Dave:But I'd say, uh, don't wait till last second to gear up for the next school year. You know, always be learning, always be listening to things, always be creating and, uh, you know, if it's not for me, from somebody else, but again, I'd love if you uh support the show, getting a $2.99 e-book or something like that. So, thank you, I normally don't do this, I don't normally do this. I do a lot of free things. So, just asking for a little support here or to check out any of this stuff, and thanks, Appreciate it. So that is your cowbell tip of the day. Thank you everybody for tuning in today. I really do appreciate it, as always. Like I said, go to supersizefizcom for more information or check out any of the links in the show notes, all the things I talked about today. I do appreciate it and and I appreciate you, PE Nation, have a great day, week, weekend, summer whenever you listen to this and let's keep pushing our profession forward. Thank you.
