Fasting On Purpose

Matthew 6:16-18 says, “And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.  But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face,  that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.  The absolute fact about prayer and fasting is that they produce greater intimacy with God.  It’s important to note and be reminded that prayer does not save you and fasting does not save you.  But it does enhance the experience that we share with our Heavenly Father according to the scriptures.  It enhances the experience because it causes us to grow in humility.   - Pastor Price Wright II
