Dr. Bill says, "So far, in our study of The Sermon on the Mount, we’ve heard about the beatitudes and how the very things we might consider to be negative are actually blessings.
Then we touched on how, in the same way, salt makes things taste better, Jesus tells us we are salt. Then, He further declares that it is not just the teachers who are light, but we are light in the world. He seems to keep turning things upside down.
This week we are going to hit a speed bump of sorts. Seemingly out of nowhere, He starts talking about the law and He sets the bar for righteousness very high to entry into the kingdom of heaven. At first glance, there might seem to be a contradiction here. Are we under the law or grace?
