Cathy Sirvatka Season 1 Episode 1

Working as a freelance web designer and/or developer is becoming more popular with each passing year. COVID caused many people to reflect on their lives and jobs. This is all so you can grow and improve your business too! I want you to feel more comfortable in your work, improve your client satisfaction and increase your income!

001 Trailer

Whether you call yourself a web designer, web developer, user interface designer, or user experience designer, this podcast speaks to all of you. If you're a freelancer or solopreneur, it can be very isolating. If you're like me, you work in your home office and there's not a lot of people to bounce ideas off of.

So maybe you start Googling, "how much does a web designer charge," or, uh, "how do I write contracts?" You may be wondering, "what services should I offer or maybe not offer? What if clients wants a service I don't provide?" Most people can't provide all services.

When I started out in web design and development in the early 2000’s, no one would share their business strategies, and I mean no one. Everyone kept their cards close to their vest, and there was just a fraction of the information that we have today. Now we have so much information that it's hard to know what's right, but I'm here to tell you you're not alone. In this podcast, I talk with other web professionals about how they've achieved their success.

We talk about services they offer or choose not to offer, business operation, procedures and project management, and what type of clients they serve. This is all part of a successful business, and if you're a freelancer, you want to make money, you want to be successful, and you want to feel good about what you do.

My guests will share their experiences and so will I, and I'll be learning right along with you. I mean, business is changing constantly and there's always room for growth and education, and all of this is to help you run your own business smoothly and profitably. This is not a technical podcast. Though we will use jargon familiar to the web industry, we will not be instructing specifically on code or how to use software.

Instead, I want to focus on running a profitable business and help you love the work you do. Because when your work is running smoothly and you're not living from paycheck to paycheck, you feel a lot more present in your life. This I know from experience. My hope is that these episodes trigger ideas that you can apply to your business administration, your client acquisition, and relations, and service strategies for the most beneficial results.

Hey, there's plenty of work to go around and I want us to be an open community. Let's be in this together. So take a listen and be sure to hit that follow button. Consider this podcast your biweekly staff meeting.
