Chuck Shute:

Welcome to the chuck shoe podcast. And thank you for checking us out. We have a very special guest on the show today Corinne olympios. So I first heard of Karin when she was scheduled to do stand up comedy here in Phoenix. And I saw she was on the bachelor and I was really intrigued. And unfortunately, COVID hit and so the show was canceled, but we kept in touch, and I finally got her to do my show. So I did go back and watch some of the episodes of The Bachelor because I've never seen it. And I have to say I'm still not much of a bachelor fan, but I did become a Korean fan. After seeing her episodes, I think she is really interesting and funny person. And I had a blast talking to her today. She's really down to earth and hilarious and I laugh really hard. In this episode, she tells me about some projects she has coming up. And also she opens up to me about some more serious stuff, too. And it was just a really fun interview. But you didn't hear come here to hear me blab about this. So let's get current on here we go. Welcome Corinne olympios to the check shoe podcast. I can't believe it's finally happening.

Unknown:

Whoo.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Thanks for having me.

Chuck Shute:

How are you doing?

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

I'm doing great. How are you?

Chuck Shute:

Amazing. So people say that you're like a really down to earth person that when people meet you they say oh, you're much nicer than I thought. I don't know if that's an insult or a compliment.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Um, I take it as a as a compliment.

Chuck Shute:

Cuz you have this like reputation as being the villain from the bachelor or whatever.

Unknown:

Yeah.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

I don't know. I I, I do have that.

Chuck Shute:

Some people.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

I do have that reputation. But I don't know I'm having a brain fart.

Chuck Shute:

Well, so let's talk about see your dad is a olympios. That's obviously a Greek name. But your mom is Jewish. You have an older sister. And what's that?

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

And the younger sister was the younger

Chuck Shute:

sister. Okay. And you guys, you started you live in Florida. And you were running this bit your dad had like a heating AC business. And you move when you moved from New Jersey to Florida right into into vacation homes. That will happen. Yes. Yeah. So

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

his air conditioning and heating company was like, he retired from that. Right. So so I was running the epoxy

Chuck Shute:

business epoxy thing. That's what it was. But so and so this wasn't sure. Was this back in? When did you move to Florida? Was that in middle school? When you were 12? Okay, so I found this interesting because like, people look at you now and they think you know, you're just this like, Cool Girl and everything. But when you were in middle school, you were kind of like bullied. You have like this LL Bean backpack with a flower on it your initials and because you've talked about in interviews?

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

I did. I don't even remember. Yeah,

Chuck Shute:

yeah. So I just thought that was really interesting that how vicious I mean, even you know, because now you look at the bachelor, and you could say that the girls are mean to each other. But this was even back in middle school. You were how you were dealing with this girl drama.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah, it was it was, it was pretty bad. Like, the anxiety of like, I just remember, like, I still think about this sometimes like the anxiety of like, not knowing if your best friend is gonna be mad at you that day, like the girls with like, choose days to be your friend and then choose days to not be your friend. And it's just like, the worst feeling in the world. Like I actually got, like, uninvited to a Halloween party and all the girls like pulled me into like the bathroom. And we're like, we're just letting you know, you're not invited to Dana's Halloween party anymore. And I was like, God, I was like, Okay, no problem. It was like, honestly, traumatizing. Wow. And is

Chuck Shute:

this because of the certain things that you didn't have the right labels and the clothes and stuff or?

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

I don't know what it was. Or you know what it was? I think, like, Girl like looking back like, I can only like, I don't know if it's to make myself feel better. Or like if it's true, I think like girls were honestly just jealous.

Chuck Shute:

Mm hmm.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Yeah, for sure. Nothing but nice to everybody.

Chuck Shute:

Yeah, so there's something that they saw on you. And maybe they just did. It was like a it's a competitive thing. Right with a lot of girls. Is that the real competitive? Yeah, I

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

think they're just so worried about like always being like the center of attention that it just makes girls do crazy things.

Chuck Shute:

Yeah. So but then you do you end up playing, you played softball, and you're a pitcher.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Again, I was a pitcher. I was actually pretty good. And I got a pitch to perfect games and a no hitter.

Chuck Shute:

Wow, that is really good. You did the windmill style like this. Yeah. That's always hardcore. Yeah. So interesting how the girls do that. Like, it'd be interesting to see a guy. You never see guys do that. But there's men softball, right?

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I feel like if I were to try to do the windmill pitch now, no, but it's so funny because I literally cannot hit a golf ball unless like I hit it like I'm hitting a baseball.

Chuck Shute:

Hmm. Interesting. So

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

it looks like I'm swinging a bat. Like I get super low. And like, kind of hit straight. And it's it's a killer hit. But it just is so bizarre.

Chuck Shute:

Interesting. Yeah, that's it. Golf is hard. That's one of the hardest sports I think to play.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Oh, I love it. I love it.

Chuck Shute:

You do? Oh, yes. You must do a lot of a down here than in Arizona.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

I do I golf at least once a week, sometimes twice a week.

Chuck Shute:

Oh, wow. Yeah, there's because there are so many amazing golf courses down here. really fancy.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

In Arizona?

Chuck Shute:

Yeah, I'm in Scottsdale. Oh, great. Me too. Yeah, we're neighbors kind of sorta I don't know. Are you in north Scottsdale or South Scottsdale

Unknown:

North?

Chuck Shute:

Yeah. Okay. That's where my parents live. That's a really nice area up there. I really like it. I'd like to move further north at some point. But so it because for a while you were living in you move to LA before you're on The Bachelor. You moved to LA to do acting? And yeah, but then you weren't ready. You kind of freaked out and you move back. Right? Correct. Yeah. So then you're running your dad's business. And you send in a picture to the Bachelor. And like right away, they're interested in you. Did you have to do anything else? So was it just a picture without it?

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

It was a picture and then they made me do a video. They sent me a bunch of questions to answer. I had a broken Pinkie. And I looked so stupid. And I was just like laughing in the interview just being like, totally myself, like, what am I even doing? And then they called me in for an interview when they were in Florida. And I had a private interview with them. And they were like you sent in probably one of the best audition tapes we've ever received. We're like, what?

Chuck Shute:

Like, what did you do in it? What did they ask you to do? Or Well, no,

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

I don't know. I was just like, honestly, like, it was so normal. I have no idea.

Chuck Shute:

Like, do they ask you questions? Or what is the you remember what the video my sister

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

asked was standing behind me the questions. just laughing the whole time. Okay, this is what I'm dealing with right now.

Chuck Shute:

Yeah. Oh, your dog. Okay. Hi. What's your dog's name?

Unknown:

Honey, honey. Okay, that

Chuck Shute:

was one thing I didn't know. So that's good to learn something. So the bachelor producers like they don't coach you on like what to do, but they do give you ideas and such.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

No, and not really. I can't really disclose like anything that happens like behind the camera. Oh, really?

Unknown:

Yes. Um,

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

but no, it's not staged or anything?

Chuck Shute:

Yeah, cuz you said that you're one of the most the bachelors most memorable characters and your goal was your goal goal in that show? Wasn't to get famous it was actually to meet the love of your life and you authentically wanted to marry Nick right? At the top of time, yes, yes, yes. Not now. But of course you have an important

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

time Yeah, I did. And you were legitimately I was there for the right reasons despite what everybody thought like I literally had no idea like I came home and I was like, Alright, well that's it. Little did I know my life was about to change.

Chuck Shute:

Yeah, because so you said that everyone is friends off the camera like all the girls get along fine.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Yeah, for the most part. Yeah. Everyone pretended to be my friend and then when the cameras turned on boom

Unknown:

it's just like, Guys cool.

Chuck Shute:

Cheese. So yeah, I never really watched the bachelor and so that but I watched it to learn about you and so I didn't know that apparently they have this gimmick when you come on The Bachelor that like people like when they meet the bachelor they have like some sort of gimmick like some girl walked in a shark costume.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Easy how it turned into that.

Unknown:

Yeah, never like Oh, it was never like that.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

So so dumb. How it turned into that, honestly, honestly, like kind of angers me a little bit. I just hate what the show turned into. It sucks. It was such a great show at one point.

Chuck Shute:

Yeah, so but like some one of the girls. She has a camel costume. And she's like, I heard you like to hump and I think your thing was though that was on your episode, though. Then you your thing was I think you gave him a hug token. And it was like a token and it was redeemable for a hug.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Cute. That's cute. That's not like cheesy and like, slutty.

Chuck Shute:

Yes. Yeah. No. So is that an idea that you come up with or did the producers give you that idea? Or? No, I

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

came up with that. Okay,

Chuck Shute:

so everyone comes up with their own idea for those kinds of things. Yeah, yeah. So you kissed him on the first night. That's a pretty bold move and like that pissed off a lot of the other girls though, they

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

know I kind of were like, No, no, I wouldn't say I regret doing that. But like, it's like so cringy for me to watch. It's like one of those moments where you're just like, Yeah. Like, you have to actually say a word. Yeah. Because it's so cringy to

Chuck Shute:

Yeah, so that and then the producers like they put on that like scary music and stuff. Like, were they they were kind of trying to paint you as the villain, right?

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

I think at the beginning they were. And then they realized like, I'm actually hilarious. So

Chuck Shute:

I got in a different way. You are hilarious. In that show. I have to admit, like, you made me laugh a few different times. Like you guys are doing the bride photoshoot. And one of the girls had like a bikini on and you said like, you better not steal my thunder. I'm gonna punch you in. Like, are you you're kind of half

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

kidding with those things. A drunk kirrin this my family will back me up drunk. Karen is vicious. She is like, she's. I call her Cornelia.

Chuck Shute:

Oh, okay.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Oh, yeah. I'm like, mean. Like your main render drunk. I'm

Chuck Shute:

like, What Is it serious? Like we would you ever have you ever been in like an actual fight? Okay, so you're kind of like half joking. Yeah. Okay. So yeah, this is interesting to you said that. And they

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

actually, like, when I say stuff like that, like, I mean, like, I'm gonna stand there and call you mean, and like, if you actually try to hit me, I'll like cry and run away.

Chuck Shute:

So you said that there's laxatives and all the bathrooms of the Bachelor. Like what the hell is that about?

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

No one can like poop. It's crazy.

Chuck Shute:

And there's five girls sharing one bathroom. It's horrible. Yeah, so cuz I talk to a lot of comedians and they do like last Comic Standing and they

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

say they share a bed with one of the girls in Bimini. I'm not gonna say who. Okay, but farting the whole night...Like, yep, she looked at me. She was like, we're not gonna talk about it. And I was like, all right.

Chuck Shute:

I didn't think girls farted I didn't know that was like a thing, apparently.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Oh, yeah.

Chuck Shute:

That ruins the mystique there. especially girls on The Bachelor. You just don't think of that happening?

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Oh, they're farting all over town.

Chuck Shute:

What else are they doing? That's gross.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Things you don't want it?

Chuck Shute:

I don't Okay. All right. That's good. Yeah, let's let's let's leave it at that. But it seems like they do kind of try the producers try to create some drama, right? Because

Unknown:

I talked to comedian Yeah, that's every reality show.

Chuck Shute:

Yeah. Cuz like the comedians on last Comic Standing. They said they'll drive in this van. And like park it and turn the AC off and try to did they do that kind of stuff with you guys to kind of try to put you I mean, five girls in one bathroom. That's got to be

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

like, sometimes they tried to deprive us of sleep. So that we would be super tired sometimes that's not a proven thing. You know, it was never said. All I wanted to do was nap all the time. Hence my naps.

Chuck Shute:

Ah, you did take a lot of naps. I noticed that. Did you get flack for that?

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

I got in trouble numerous times for napping.

Chuck Shute:

I love napping though. Do you like well not on the show? Do you take a lot of naps too. Yeah,

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

I do. I do. I'm like horizontal most of my life.

Chuck Shute:

Like how many hours a day do you sleep in? A lot?

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

I love it. I'm in bed by 6pm. So great.

Chuck Shute:

Hope you disappeared for a second. Oh,

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

power mode.

Chuck Shute:

Okay. Oh, you're gonna need to charge it or?

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

No, I'm good. Okay. Yes.

Chuck Shute:

Okay, what was that thing? Like? There's a farming scene where you're supposed to like shovel cow shit or something. And you're like, I love this. You're like, No, I'm not gonna do that. Was that supposed to be like a date or something? I didn't understand that.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

It was a group date. So you're supposed to do like this stuff on the group date, but I just didn't see a point in it.

Chuck Shute:

Yeah, I've never heard of shoveling cow shit as a date. That seems very odd.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Yeah, I just I didn't want to do it. I was annoyed. I was cold. I didn't feel like it. There was no point none. Nick was not gonna choose me any more than he would have if I didn't do that.

Chuck Shute:

Right. It might have respected you more for not doing

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

like it's a health hazard. Like I'm sorry.

Chuck Shute:

Yeah. No, I

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

don't I don't need to pick up poop. Like I don't need to be here that bad. Like it's fine.

Chuck Shute:

And then you had like that. So what was the deal with that Taylor girl. You guys kind of had like a showdown. I didn't watch like, the whole season. But you said I think she was the one you wanted to punch in the face. And you said something about making a voodoo doll of her.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Yeah, that that was that was bogus. That was not

Chuck Shute:

that was exaggerated.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

No, my hatred for her was definitely not exaggerated.

Chuck Shute:

Oh, sorry, you guys. But no, we are not friends. Not cool. Now that's still so still

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

I'm not really like I'm like, cool with like some of the girls from my season, but I'm not really friends with anyone from bachelor nation anymore. Like I like there was girls that I was very, very close with who just just didn't treat me nice or well after the fact and I'm the type of girl that will go out of my way and do a lot for people and just giving, giving, giving. I'm just at a point in my life where I'm over it. And if you're not going to be a good friend back to me and just just by

Chuck Shute:

Yeah, yeah, you said you had you had fans and haters, but you're You said you're thankful for even the haters. Explain what the Yeah, yeah. What How are you thankful for haters?

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

If you're hating me, you're paying attention to me.

Chuck Shute:

That's true. That's true. You do have a lot of followers on Instagram. Did you were you able to did you go on howard stern at one point?

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

No. Cuz he that I know that. He talked about me and my father.

Chuck Shute:

always talks about your father. I don't know if I heard that part. No, I

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

don't know. What am I one of my parents friends said they heard him talking about it.

Chuck Shute:

Because I think he's a big fan of the show. Oh, you do? You do love him too. He said that. You're an example of vocal fry.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Do you know what that is? Yeah. And I love vocal fry.

Chuck Shute:

Oh, God can be a hater. It's fine. Yeah, no, that's funny. That's funny. Oh, another hater. But so yeah, we got to talk about the Sasha Baron Cohen, the who is America, you had no idea what was going on. And they sent your manager home and they took your phone away? Mm hmm. And they had a whole crew in there. And then they pretended to not speak English. So they kind of tricked you. Right?

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Yes, that's what he does. He tricks people.

Chuck Shute:

But how does he? I mean, I feel like he just like kept pushing it. And you and your manager didn't know what was going on? Did

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

your manager know that? It was social. We didn't we didn't put two and two together until like, I told him what had happened. I was like, crying. I was like, This is so weird. Like, I don't know what's going on. Like he made me say things like, I just I don't I don't like this is really not good. He's like, it almost sounds like you were being pranked. I'm like, No, this wasn't a prank. This was real. Like, I'm freaking out. And sure enough, it was.

Chuck Shute:

Yeah. Because so do you do a lot of those kinds of things. So you just kind of say things and you're not really thinking what you're saying? Because you do that kind of stuff for promotions and things all the time?

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Well, not not things like that. That stuff was very inappropriate. And obviously stuff I would never promote or be a part of it. Just it was a it was a very awkward day. I don't really want to revisit that day. Yeah,

Chuck Shute:

but why do you think he targeted you? Do you think there's something that you did that he didn't like, or?

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

No, I think he honestly just did it to be funny. I don't think he dislikes me. I know his wife is a fan or was a

Unknown:

fan.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

And I love her. She's

Chuck Shute:

who's Wait, who's his wife again? I forget.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

I love his law.

Chuck Shute:

Okay. But did you say you're gonna get him back?

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

I'm planning on it.

Chuck Shute:

You're still. You're still planning? I can't wait. That's gonna be awesome. It's gonna be great. Yeah, so tell me about this book you're writing. It's like how you grew into the woman you are it was it called what would kirrin do is I would still called

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Yes, I'm still writing it. It's like the sad story that never ends. I was working with a production production company, a publishing company didn't work out and had a ghostwriter didn't work out. So I'm writing it on my own reworking the whole thing and it'll come out when it's ready. I was so stressed out and so pressured for so long about it, because it was just like, okay, when is the book coming? When is Kearns book coming? And I'm just like, I will put it out when I feel like putting it out.

Chuck Shute:

Okay, so you're still working on it

Unknown:

then? Yes.

Chuck Shute:

So what is it it's gonna be like this, like your story, kind of like kind of what we talked about a little bit how you grown up,

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

but it's a it's just Korean becoming Korean stories that have brought me to be who I am and things that people would want to hear about and know

Chuck Shute:

for sure, for sure. Okay, that's cool, though. I'm excited for that. That'll be out at some point then. And then also you're doing music.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

I am doing music and your first song is

Chuck Shute:

it out yet? Or is it almost ready?

Unknown:

It's not okay.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

It's almost ready. It's not out yet.

Chuck Shute:

What kind of music is a surprise guest

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

on Oh,

Chuck Shute:

really?

Unknown:

Yeah.

Chuck Shute:

And you can't say who it is. Cannot or you know, cuz I know they had the Bachelor. The Backstreet Boys, or they came on Are you a Backstreet Boys fan?

Unknown:

Oh, god,

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

that was so embarrassing. I just didn't know who any of them were really. Yeah. And I was like, wow, I suck at being a girl like this is horrible. They're like naming everybody by name had no idea

Chuck Shute:

what you're doing. too young. You're probably too young for it because that was more like once a big in the 90s

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Yeah, but I was born in 91. But I was still young. Yeah.

Chuck Shute:

Okay, I think you're still too young. What about and then Coachella? You've been to that festival a few times. So what kind of music do you like? Is that what the song your song is gonna be? It's gonna be that kind of like more like rock music or

Corinne Olympios:

I can't tell you

Chuck Shute:

anything about what the music okay, but what? What kind of styles of music do you like? You could at least tell me that

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

I like dance music would you like a fan of Ariana Grande day? She's probably just what's most playing when I'm playing music. I just I love her voice. I love her. I was a little disappointed in her documentary on Netflix to be honest. I thought it was gonna be way more like behind the scenes and about her and her life and what had been going on with her. But it was none of that was more of just the concert. So I was a little sad, huh?

Chuck Shute:

Yeah, she is an interesting person for sure. Are you Lady Gaga fan?

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

I do like Lady Gaga.

Chuck Shute:

See, I never really was a big fan of hers until that

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

fan of her I mean, I liked her. Yeah, but listen to her music on repeat.

Chuck Shute:

But did you see the her movie though? That I felt like, it was really

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

like seeing it like kinda you know?

Chuck Shute:

Okay.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Are you seeing that or like a phenomenon like that? I just I can't like,

Chuck Shute:

do Why?

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Everybody was like obsessed with it. So I like didn't want to watch it.

Chuck Shute:

Are you like a hipster? Kind of? You're kind like a hipster? Well, I

Corinne Olympios:

don't know. I'm cool, though.

Chuck Shute:

Because you don't see you seem too mainstream to be a hipster. Like hipsters, you'd be wearing like really weird.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Weird, like me and my manager talking about this all the time. Like, we do not know how to even like categorize me. I don't know why I said it's a weird category.

Chuck Shute:

How do you want to be categorized?

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

I don't know. I'm just corn like I'm a different species.

Chuck Shute:

Okay, that's fair. Well, you're doing a lot of different stuff. Are you still doing the right? No, I

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

sometimes feel like I'm just all over the place. You know, you are.

Chuck Shute:

Are you still doing that? Right girl modeling stuff.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

So no, we have parted ways.

Chuck Shute:

Oh, are you have another modeling gig or agency or something?

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Well, I'm doing stuff all the time. There's a few things in the works that are really fun. So I'll be excited to talk about that

Chuck Shute:

once those are farther along. Okay, so more secret projects.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Yes, my whole life is like a secret.

Chuck Shute:

Okay. Do you ever get told like No. Was was the bachelor the first time like a guy turned you down? Because I can't imagine that. That happens to you a lot. And

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

fortunately, it's not the first time I've been turned down. Really. I'm just okay. So I'm just super like over the top, like, I overdo it sometimes. And there has been like a few times where I'm like, okay, I overdid it. And that's why that happened.

Chuck Shute:

Like you showed too much interest into a guy and then he was

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

just like, pushy. I was like, why is fine, like, let's just go on a date, like whatever.

Chuck Shute:

And that backfired. Some guys don't like that.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Some, you know, most of the time, it's great, but there there are a few times if I'm gonna be honest, where it did not work. Well.

Chuck Shute:

Tell us tell me a story about one of those.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Oh, God, no, that's embarrassing.

Chuck Shute:

But that makes it a good interview.

Corinne Olympios:

Hey, no. All right. Well,

Chuck Shute:

then tell me about your tell me the good one. Then tell me about your new boyfriend. So you guys, this is interesting. You guys got together from Instagram, he started liking a bunch of your Instagram pictures. I didn't know that actually worked. I've tried that with girls before and that never done anything. I think there's a lot of

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

guys also like, right when like, I was getting followers and stuff. So I was able to see more

Chuck Shute:

things, okay,

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

than I am now. So I'm like, I saw him and I like it was weird. Like, I knew there was like something there. But it didn't happen for a while. Like we were just casually exchanged messages over the years. And then I just blew him up and made him go on a date with me like I am. Sadly, he wasn't asking you out or he was no, no, I asked him.

Chuck Shute:

Really? So even if you're responding to messages and he's still hasn't like, hadn't pulled the trigger and said Hey, would you like to get a beer?

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Oh, it was really weird. And I'm like, great. Like, are we doing this?

Chuck Shute:

See, I feel like that's how these guys like that's how they get a girl like you It's like they play this like kind of like weird mind game where they're like, Oh, I'm just messaging. You know, I'm not

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

interested. But the thing is, it's like either like I'm interested in meeting the person or not like I don't care about games or whatever.

Chuck Shute:

Yeah. And if you usually had nothing, yeah, at this point, usually you can get what you want. Right? Yeah. So tell me about this stand up career because I think that's originally how I reached out to you. I was like, Oh, you're gonna be performing at the improv. I was like, we should do an interview.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

How sad that it's canceled. Yeah. As soon as I'm able to safely do another comedy show. comedy is definitely in my future. I love making people laugh. I love being on stage. I love being the center of attention. So, so you've

Chuck Shute:

actually performed and done stand up?

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Yes, I performed at the Comedy Store numerous times I headlined at the Irvine improv in California. And I've done a bunch of little stand up gigs. Beside those. My first show was at a bar. Very fun. How have you bombed? Yeah.

Chuck Shute:

Cuz every comedians got a good bombing story.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

No, no, I haven't had an awkward show.

Unknown:

Really?

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

I've had an awkward show where it was like, almost bombing, but I didn't bomb

Chuck Shute:

okay. But so do you. So do you have your jokes prepared? Are you kind of more work like do kind of improv stuff and work the crowd? Or both?

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

I work the crowd. But my shows go better when I just stick to my routine.

Chuck Shute:

Okay, so you actually write up your jokes and yeah,

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

yeah, they don't like when I work. The crowd is what I've learned. Oh, really? Okay. Maybe they just don't like me.

Chuck Shute:

Cuz I thought you'd be really good at that. Because you're pretty good at I'm

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

good at it. I'm good at it. I'm good at it. It's just people are weird. Okay, do you

Chuck Shute:

do jokes about the bachelor and stuff or? Or just stuff in your normal life?

Unknown:

A little bit? A little bit? Yeah.

Chuck Shute:

I'll have to come see you. So you have any shows planned now because the comedy clubs are back open. Here.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Yes. Well, while the pandemic was happening, we kind of switched gears a little bit so now I actually have some major stuff I'm working on so I have to wait a little till I can do a comedy show.

Chuck Shute:

Okay, and this is more stuff you can't tell me about

Corinne Olympios:

um

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Yeah, not yet. Okay.

Chuck Shute:

You're talking about having a late night show is that that's just something like a dream of your

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

dream that's a dream is a dream of mine and I will do it one way or another whether I just have to like do it on my Instagram story or

Corinne Olympios:

Welcome to my Instagram. I'm interviewing

Chuck Shute:

Well, I mean, you have 750,000 followers I think last I checked

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

on that that's not really a lot of followers.

Chuck Shute:

What's What are you talking about? It's almost a million I don't know. I

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

this is something that it like honestly, like fucks with me mentally. Like I struggle with this on a daily basis. like watching my number fluctuate, go up, go down. There's days I'll lose like a couple 1000 followers and I'm like, What the heck and then it'll go back up then it'll go back down. I'm just like, What is going on? It just makes me like crazy. Like what do you guys want to see? Like maybe they're not interested in it me anymore? It's like crazy. I know why these really famous people go freakin nuts. Because it's it's like just a roller coaster of emotions. It's really hard. Weird. Wanting to be loved.

Chuck Shute:

People just unfollow you and you have no idea. Why?

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Yeah, like when I post about my beads, people unfollow me. I'm like, cool, guys. Cool.

Chuck Shute:

Why? What's wrong with the beads?

Corinne Olympios:

I don't know. They're pretty.

Chuck Shute:

Is that? Is that like something? You sell those or something?

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Yeah, I sold them. With a partner of mine. Her name is Lindsay. And we're doing like a little gift shop with beads and antiques and I make candles on mice. I'm such a grandma.

Unknown:

Like, knitting in the corner of my house.

Chuck Shute:

Do you knit did you do? Do crochet or whatever?

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Thank God, because honestly, like I feel like that's gonna be something that's next.

Chuck Shute:

So okay. So though is that a successful business? I mean, if you're selling the beads and why do you care if a couple people unfollow you?

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

I don't know. It's more of just like a self. thing. It makes you feel bad about yourself.

Chuck Shute:

Like they don't like your beads.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Followers like consume a woman's life. Really? Yeah.

Chuck Shute:

So even having just a couple 1000 or a couple 100 people unfollow you is like it's really upsetting. It's

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

just gut wrenching.

Chuck Shute:

Really, but don't you think a lot of those

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

watching that number go up is like, the happiest you'll be and watching that number go down just is like the worst thing in the world.

Chuck Shute:

Really, but what about your boyfriend, your family and all these other people that are important.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

I'm so lucky to have the people in my life that I have that support me and love me and you know, but it's also like, they like I like feel like I have something to prove to them to like, I want to make them proud and I feel like I'm failing kind of.

Chuck Shute:

you're failing with 750,000 followers and a book and a song. I mean, out and all these other secret projects, like my

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

book, my books taking forever to come out...my song is, is anyone even gonna really listen to it or like it or take me seriously? Like, there's so much shit? That's why I've been putting stuff off like this because I'm just in a weird place right now to be honest. And I feel like everybody should really know that about me. I'm in a really weird place right now in my life. And I don't know.... I've been having severe anxiety. And it's resulted in me having to go to several different doctors because I've been having stomach issues. I think it's because of anxiety. I'm not really sure what's wrong with me yet. But yeah, I've just been having horrible, horrible stomach issues. So

Chuck Shute:

I'm sorry to hear that. A is you can't? Is it because of the pandemic and the lockdown driving you crazy? Or is there other stuff?

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Well, I don't know. I really don't know what it is. I try to stay positive. And my boyfriend's amazing. We live together. He's just my biggest supporter and constantly is there for me, so I'm super thankful. And so were my parents and my sister. So

Chuck Shute:

yeah, I mean, and money's not an issue, right? I mean, you're you guys are good on money. Right? So that's not something you got to worry about.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Thank God. You know, it's it's nothing like life or death. It's more just like mental and like, you know, I just feel like, I don't know sometimes I just feel like sometimes I'll be making my candles and I'm like, What am I doing? Like, what am I doing? I'm making candles,

Chuck Shute:

but so that's great. Aren't you haven't you're enjoying it? Right? I'm having fun with it. I mean, are you doing this stuff to be liked? Or are you doing this stuff? Because you enjoy it?

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

No. This is what makes me happy. I love doing arts and crafts.

Chuck Shute:

Well, that's great, then you should keep doing it. Who cares if some people don't like it? Fuck them.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

I ordered an epoxy resin kit. My dad will be excited to hear what is resin art? Oh, like acrylic art.

Chuck Shute:

Okay. That sounds fun.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

I feel so boring. I'm sorry.

Chuck Shute:

No. I think you're larious Why? Oh

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

my god, you cut out like this session?

Chuck Shute:

Yeah. Well, I used to be a counselor. Maybe that's why people always telling me everything, all their secrets and everything. Oh, yeah. No, I think that you're really interested. It's fascinating to hear your insecurities. As someone who I look at you on Instagram. And I'm like, I don't even know if you're a real person on messaging. I'm like, is this even like a? Is this a bot? Is this even the real girl like she's not real? She's not a real person. And then here you are, you're actually talking to me. So

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Aaron of the way I've been feeling inside to, like, let people know how I've been feeling. And I'm just like, I just I can't handle rejection right now in my life. I don't feel like so I just feel like I've been shying away from everything I've been shying away from posting, I've been shying away from doing funny comedy stuff. And I'm just in a weird place. So I've just been scared of like coming out with my feelings kind of thing. And like having people reject me even more like not like me even more. So I'm just, you know.

Chuck Shute:

I mean, like I said, seven or 50,000 followers. And that's all people that do like you plus your family and

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

friends. Like all your friends around you have a million followers. And it's like I'm the most. And I will say this about myself. I'm the most memorable character of the Bachelor. And it's like, why don't I have a million

Chuck Shute:

whoops you cut out for a second....

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

And it's like, why don't I have a million followers? Like, what am I doing wrong? Like, why don't people like me? But then, like, there's so many people that do know who I am. That just don't follow me that don't even watch The Bachelor but it's just like a weird thing. But it's like Instagram is life. Like, when we have kids like is their form of ID going to be like what their Instagram is like, you know what I mean? Instagram is like so consuming.

Chuck Shute:

Huh? No. Have you ever seen that show Black Mirror where they have like a social credit score?

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Oh, god, no, I didn't see that. Yeah,

Chuck Shute:

it's crazy. And like this girl like she and like every interaction people rate you and then your social credit score goes up or down based on their internet. So it's like one guy at a gas station doesn't like you and they can mark you down and it's kind of scary.

Unknown:

Oh, yeah.

Chuck Shute:

I think you got to just not worry so much about

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

being nice to people. What's that? I feel like I would have a good social credit score. Like, I'm super nice to like just people. And I love being really nice to people we get

Chuck Shute:

you're being really nice by coming on my podcast. I really appreciate that.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

I am sorry that it took me a while to get on. Oh, that's fine.

Chuck Shute:

Do you get a lot of people messaging you wanting things like interviews or

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

I just get a lot of people like messaging me like more recently Honestly, I have to say positive messages and I'm wow Okay, like this is great, like, wow. And then I'll get people like just wanting me to do like free advertisement for them, which I just can't do I have an agent, I have a manager. Like, I have a whole team of people. I can't just do free advertisement.

Unknown:

Mm hmm.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

But honestly, the positive messages like yes, love them.

Chuck Shute:

What kinds of positive messages do you get?

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Oh, pretty, you look great. Like, you look like you're happy. Your outfits are pretty, like, your hair looks good. Just like anything just like anything.

Chuck Shute:

And you and you feel like that's it still, it's almost like that's not enough, though. Cuz you're saying like, you should have more followers, you should have more love.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Listen, it's not about that. It's not about like, I want more. I want more. I want everything. It's just like, the fat like, it feels like it's just like, what people think of me. And I'm just like, consumed by it sometimes. And it's really

Chuck Shute:

well, what do you think of yourself? I mean, I think that's one of the most important thing.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Yes, and my relationship with myself has gotten a lot better. I honestly, since the bachelor I, I work out a lot more but I'm my body is completely different. Like, my butt grew, my boobs were like, I'm just I'm not like, teeny tiny anymore. I'm not a size double zero. I'm like a four now. And a sore six. And my Jean size went up three sizes. And like At first I was like, What the heck. And I thought that being like, so skinny and not really eating was like normal. And I'm like, No, it's not normal. Like I need to enjoy my life. Like, I still have a great body. I look good. I feel good. Thank God. And it's okay. If you gained a little bit of weight like it's normal. Mm hmm.

Chuck Shute:

Yeah. I mean, yeah, I don't think you're obese or anything. I don't think there's like the doctors are worried about your weight or anything like that. I mean, you're still pretty skinny.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

No, I know I am. I'm not saying by any ad or anything. I'm still a tiny person. I'm five one. And I weigh like, like 120 pounds. But like, I always weighed 95 pounds. So like for me like going to the doctor today. They're like, all right, you're 121 pounds or whatever. I'm like, Oh my God.

Unknown:

But,

Chuck Shute:

so that seems like a lot to you.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

It's a lot for me.

Chuck Shute:

But you work out and take care of are you still eating out?

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

a workout and I realized that certain parts of my body are bigger now and that's better. Like I had no Toshi ever. Now I have a touch me from the sack up to a size d?

Chuck Shute:

Yeah. No, I think a lot of guys like that. I'm sure your boyfriend probably is happy

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

boyfriend loves it, but

Chuck Shute:

nothing. I feel like the skinny thing is for girls. Guys don't want a super skinny girl.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

It is a mental thing and for so long because I had so much anxiety and horrible high school experience. Like I just wanted it to be so tiny. Always. So it was always a thing. Uh huh. Well, you're working out Oh, am a hair picker.

Unknown:

A hair picker?

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Yeah. Like you aiming xiety and I'll pick my hairs out of my head. My eyebrows.

Chuck Shute:

Oh, that's not good. Yeah, trickle to

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

get to Columbia,

Chuck Shute:

whatever it is. Yeah, the trickle thing. Yeah, that's not that's a bad habit to have.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

It's horrible. It's horrible. And it drives my boyfriend nuts.

Chuck Shute:

Well, what do you do to relax that? What do you what do you what I've read? Oh, you do the beat. So that helps. That helps the anxiety. Okay,

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

yes.

Chuck Shute:

Do you drink sometimes still, or do you not drink anymore?

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

No, I haven't drank in three weeks. I'm not having stomach issues and I'm just not drinking.

Chuck Shute:

Do you meditate or anything like that? No,

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

I bead. I go to home goods.

Unknown:

Go to target.

Chuck Shute:

I cook Okay, it's clean. You clean? I clean you do your you don't have a thought what happened to Raquel whenever you had like the nanny

Corinne Olympios:

Raquel was that my parents?

Chuck Shute:

Well, you don't have like a Raquel they're like a person that does although

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

I haven't. I have I have like kind of a Raquel here. But she only comes once a week.

Chuck Shute:

Okay. So

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

yeah, I clean and I cook dinner for me my boyfriend or if you like he's great about date nights. So he'll randomly surprise me and take me out. We decided this Valentine's Day. We were like gonna go to a big fancy restaurant, this and that. And we were like, you know what, like, we have been on this diet for a few weeks now. Why don't we just go to McDonald's go to in and out get some fast food and have a picnic and watch a movie at home and I'm like, Fuck,

Chuck Shute:

yeah. Sounds amazing.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Are you saying Valentine's Day Ever?

Chuck Shute:

That's perfect word when you do go to a nice restaurant like what places do you go you go in Scottsdale like cuz

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

I really like maple I really

Chuck Shute:

hoped maple and ash is a good one. That's an old town. Yeah,

Unknown:

sorry.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Yeah. Maple and ash a really like Dominic's is one of my favorite places

Chuck Shute:

because yeah, that's really good.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Where else do we go? I really only make him take me to Dominic's my favorite restaurant.

Chuck Shute:

Oh, okay. Yeah, I've only been there a couple times you ever get that donut thing that the tree? Yeah, that thing's crazy. I

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

like the butter cake.

Chuck Shute:

Oh, yeah. Did you ever go to like macros? They have that too? They've?

Corinne Olympios:

Yeah, I like.

Chuck Shute:

That's so cool. Right on. Well, sounds like you have a lot of projects going on. And so I'll definitely look for all that everyone should follow you on Instagram. I'll try to get your followers up. And I'll tell people Yeah, and I appreciate you taking the time to do this. I do like to end with a charity. Is there? Is there a charity that you work with? Or I would like to

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

shout out bunnies buddies?

Chuck Shute:

Oh, yeah. What is that?

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

They're a dog rescue foundation. And I donate to them whenever they post needing donations to help dogs. Okay, so I'll then my win. And I just, I, I really appreciate what they do for dogs. Okay, and so I'm happy. All right, great. Well,

Chuck Shute:

thank you so much for doing this. I hope things get better for you. And I'm excited for these projects. You got to come in here

Corinne Olympios:

like, okay, she's

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

lost your mind that you know,

Chuck Shute:

or, you know, I think you're amazing. I

Unknown:

hope things get better. No, because

Chuck Shute:

I know cuz your anxiety and stuff. I've been through that. Yeah. Tons of people have been through that. There's nothing to be ashamed of. I think it's like really cool that you actually talked about it. I think that's because now there's a lot of people that will hear that and go, Oh, she's dealing with anxiety, too. I guess I'm not a weirdo. You know, like a lot of people feel ashamed for having that. But it's like super common. So

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Well, I've been ashamed of it to myself. It took a lot for me to even get on and do this podcast today.

Chuck Shute:

I know. She knew I've been harassing us.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

I'm glad you. I'm glad I did it. Yeah. I'm glad to hopefully there's one project that might be coming up soon. So I will let you know about it so that you can announce it first.

Chuck Shute:

Absolutely. Thank you. I appreciate that. I definitely when it comes to your stand up when you do it.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

I don't think so. I mean a lot.

Chuck Shute:

Yeah. Okay, great. Thanks so much, Corinne.

Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor):

Okay.

Chuck Shute:

Bye. Isn't she great? I love her. Like I said, I'm not a bachelor fan. But I am a Korean fan. And I think she could have her own show, whether that's a reality or late night or sitcom, or whatever. I think people would watch that. And I look forward to her upcoming projects. really curious about the stand up because she's so funny. But stand up is a whole different animal. So be interesting to see her do that and she says she doesn't do as much improv which I think she'd be great at. So great stuff. Make sure to follow kirrin on social media, Instagram, especially you heard how important that is to her can make or break a Girl's Day. So show her some love. Give her a follow. And while you're there, you can show me some love or pity. I'll take either with a follow or share on social media. And if you want to go all out you can write me a review of the show on Apple podcasts. I appreciate you all listening and making it this far into the episode. Have a great day. And remember, shoot for the moon.
