Philadelphia art-rock duo Tulipomania was founded by Tom Murray (lead vocals, synthesizer, electronic percussion) and Cheryl Gelover (synthesizer, background vocals). Categorized as cult synth punks, glam-leaning, post-punk, art-rock and muscular chamber pop, the two first began their collaboration through projects for experimental film and animation classes.
Among the many collaborations, the duo has worked with include UK music legend Martyn Ware, who is the original line up from Heaven 17, The Human League and has worked with Tina Turner, Erasure and Marc Almond and Vaughan Oliver (23 Envelope), the prolific English graphic designer known for his iconic album covers that graced the seminal 4AD label also designed the cover of the duo's 4th album, "This Gilded Age," just to name a few.
Described as ‘artistic and inventive’ and ‘gorgeous', Tulipomania's animated music
videos have been featured in film festivals worldwide. Numerous such festivals have already showcased their new video as an official selection, including the Leeds International Film Festival (UK), StopTrik (Croatia and Poland), Anifilm (Czech Republic), Insomnia (Russia) and Malatesta (Italy) with the Montreal International Animation Film Festival - Animaze awarding it an Honorable Mention. Their latest album is called "Dreaming of Sleep" released via Sursumcorda Records.
