Deeper Dive
The Teaching series we are in is "These Things I Leave You: Prayer"

So if we are looking at the Son of God teaching us how to pray in the New Testament this week I think it would be a good idea to look at two of the most famous prayers recited during the times of Christ.  What tradition was Jesus adding to?  What had people prayed most commonly before?

Weekly Reading/Memory Work
Numbers 6:24-26
“‘“The Lord bless you
    and keep you;
25 the Lord make his face shine on you
    and be gracious to you;
26 the Lord turn his face toward you
    and give you peace.”’

2 Chronicles 7:14 “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Romans 8:26-27 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.
