At the age of 7 Umaru was selected by his family to be the Chosen One. That meant that Umaru would have to go with a religious leader to receive the teachings. But instead young Umaru would become a child slave. After his escape he fell into the hands of human traffickers. Umaru's search for freedom took him across four countries. He faced death and often didn't know how he would make it. Each time he was able to get away from his captors and accept the help and kindness of others. Listen to Part I of his story.
