Welcome to Elmhust CRC's DailyDdose of the Word of God. It's Monday, March 2. This is Jeff Klein reminding you that your faith is not just a Sunday thing, but it goes throughout the week,  Monday through Friday.

Jeff Klein  0:23

We draw people to Christ not by loudly discrediting what they believe, by telling them how wrong they are and how right we are, but by showing them a light that is so lovely that they want with all their hearts, to know the source of it." Jesus said, "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on a stand and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before people that they might see your good deeds and praise your father in heaven." Another author writes: "churches that make a kingdom difference engage their communities with the good works and the good news of Jesus Christ. Because of this, their communities are better places to live. These churches look for ways to be useful to their communities, to be part of their hopes and dreams. They build bridges to their communities instead of walls around themselves. They don't shout at the dirty stream, they get in the water and begin cleaning it up. Churches focused internally help individuals. Externally focused churches change the world." And the apostle Paul writes this to the Corinthian church: "we are Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us, we've been given the ministry and the message of reconciliation."

Jeff Klein 1:45

All these writings say similar things: good works and good news. Ambassadors of Jesus bring the good works and the good news of Jesus and go into the stream and clean up the dirty stream. By doing that, we shine the light of Jesus in the world and that light becomes so compelling when people experience it. They are drawn to it because it's so amazing. They can't wait to get it. Now, if this is what we're called to be, if this is what we're called to do, then we better get going. So how can you shine your light through the good works and the good message? The good news of Jesus Christ, wherever you live, work and play?

Jeff Klein 2:31

Let's pray. Jesus, wake us up to the calling that you've put in our lives. Help us to figure out ways to engage those around us with a light so compelling, so lovely, that they will want to know what the source of it is. In your name, we pray, amen.
