Hi there. This is Harry. And welcome back to my podcast, where we try to help you to understand a little bit about the English language. How to converse with other people in any environment, business or personal. So what do I have for you today? Okay, So the first podcast is in relation to a favourite topic of everybody's on that's travel. So I want to look att travelling Cole locations and give you some examples. So the number of phrases first to take time off work Well, we use this when we say we're going to go on holiday. It might not be a long holiday. It might be a short holiday. It could be your summer vacations. But we like to take time off, work occasionally to enjoy ourselves or to join our family or just to have a break. So to take time off work means to take a few days or a couple of weeks, or sometimes even a little longer. Usually it's referring to holidays. Of course it could be to do with illness. He had to take time off work to get over a bad flu, or he had to take time off work to go to a relative's funeral. But in travelling, we take time off work to enjoy our holidays somewhere winter, whatever it might be next one I have for you is off the beaten track. We travelled to many destinations in our lives on often we go to places that have bean visited by many thousands, indeed, millions of people up and down the coasts of Europe or even further afield. But often we like to go somewhere which is not so. Well, no, nor has not bean so well advertised on this we refer to as off the beaten, track. Beaten track means something that has bean trampled or underfoot, so lots of people have bean there like grass that we walk over in the park. But off the beaten track means it's a new territory or relatively new on DH, not seen by many people, so we often like to go off the beaten track. Two. Look at new places, interesting places. Often this is connected with this new idea off ICO holidays. Get off the beaten track. Third, I have for you is affordable destinations or on affordable destination. Affordable means something that you can afford something that is within your budget. We're going on a holiday this year, but because ofthe problems with the Children or something other major expense, we're looking for something a little cheaper, something that is within our budget that is on affordable destination somewhere that we can afford. That isn't I'm going to break the bank, meaning leave us almost bankrupt or without any money. So we're going to go on an affordable destination to Europe. Or it might even be what we call a staycation where you stay within your own country or your own area. But you enjoy the sights or the the views that you have in your area that you might not necessarily have seen much off in the past. So on affordable destination, the destination is the location. The place where you're heading for an affordable destination on the fourth here is to make advance reservations, meaning to reserve the seat planes or the train seats or anything like that in advance, meaning before you go. It could be a few days in advance or well in advance. If you want to get the benefits of any discounts, that may may apply. So to make advance reservations is to reserve seats on the plane seats on a train, cabins on a bolt, rooms in the hotel tables in a restaurant. Make advance reservations. Okay, so there are four off the cold locations connected with travelling. And let me just give you one more just for good luck. Okay. So to encounter problems so often, When we travel, we travel without any difficulties. Everything is we call plain sailing meaning going along quite nicely without any difficulties. But occasionally we might come across the problem. Plane delayed, plane cancelled, train delayed, train breaks down. We encounter, we come across or come up against problems. So to encounter a problem is to have something that is going to cause you a little bit of discomfort on when we're on a holiday. It's not the best thing, but like all problems, they're only solutions. Waiting to be found came So encounter problems on your holidays. Hopefully not. So we've looked at to take time off, work off the beaten track, affordable destination or destinations, make advance reservations, and one little bonus and counter problems.
