Sermon Series: Between Two Worlds

Speaker: Pastor Josh Sherrell

__________

Description: In this section, Peter moves from the grounds of our hope to the outworking of our salvation. Everything that follows in his letter is based on the previous passage, with our hope and salvation set on the resurrection and return of Jesus Christ. He is our only hope in life and death. We have new life and a living hope in him, by the mercy and grace of God. Our lives then flow from this truth and are to be fully set on this hope. Living this out requires readiness for action and lives that model our Father’s character.
__________
Main Idea: We set our hope fully on the grace of God through lives of holiness as obedient children.
__________
I. Set your hope fully on the grace of God. (1:13)
   a. We set our hope fully on this grace by preparing our minds for action.
   b. We set our hope fully on this grace by being sober-minded.

II. Pursue holiness as obedient children. (1:14-16)
   a. As obedient children, we forsake the way of sin.
   b. As obedient children, we pursue holiness.

III. Conduct yourselves with fear. (1:17-21)
   a. We conduct ourselves with fear, knowing that God judges impartially.
   b. We conduct ourselves with fear, knowing that we were bought with a price.
