S02-E011 ANIMAL FARM
INT: THE OFFICE OF ANGEL AND MAY
(ALEX, SHARROW, SOPHIE)
ALEX
There she is. Feeling better?
SHARROW
Much, much better. Did you get some
sleep too?
ALEX
I kipped in a chair.
SHARROW
I don't know how you can do that.
It'd kill my back. Look the next
time we pull an all nighter, can we
go back to the inn, rather than
crashing here. I feel like shit.
ALEX
You look like shit too, your beauty
is definitely ruffled. Mind you a
comfy bed is on my list next time.
SHARROW
ALEX we're getting to old for this
sort of thing. Oh wait no we are
not, dam I keep forgetting. Brings
to mind that incident in Santa
Monica. Oh high SOPHIE, you see
ALEX, thats how see looked in Santa
Monica.
SOPHIE
Oh, well thats an interesting look
you two. Ohh, I need a coffee and
you certainly need something.
SHARROW
Tea for me please, thank you.
Where's ZED?
ALEX
Sleeping out back, near the warm
outlet from the servers.
SHARROW
Isn't that very noisy.
ALEX
He has some noise cancelling
headphones.
Last I saw he was sleeping like a
baby in his techno nest.
SHARROW
So whats the news?
ALEX
Well, we found a link between PAIGE
BIANCHI and the oxygen credit
racket. PAIGE BIANCHI's mother is
ANNA BIANCHI, an oxy-tab reseller.
She goes to the docks, buys
remaining credits from people who
are leaving, and resells them in
the Bencubbin marketplace. She's
literally just outside our door.
SHARROW
Did you speak to her when you were
first investigating the oxy-tabs?
ALEX
Yes I did. She stood out because
she was so hostile, definitely
seemed a little forced. I tried to
show her pictures of the missing
men and PAIGE too, but she refused
to look, calling them losers and
nobodies.
SHARROW
Hmm, that seems to set off alarm
bells.
ALEX
Exactly, why would she be so
reactive, definitely guilty of
something.
SHARROW
You think she's laundering oxygen
credits for the killer?
ALEX
Possibly. She may even be the
killer.
SHARROW
What about the daughter, PAIGE?
ALEX
She was active on social media
right up to the day that her oxy
tabs were resold. She was to have
joined the crew on an freighter
called the OLD REGRET, but she
never boarded. The captain waited
for her but she never showed up.
He ended up taking someone else who
was hanging around the docks
looking for a job as crew member in
her place, and moved on. And PAIGE
BIANCHI has not been heard from
since.
SHARROW
And this ANNA BIANCHI never
reported her missing?
ALEX
No. No attempts to even contact
her. PAIGE disappeared and no one
batted an eyelash. A couple of her
friends tried to keep contact on
social media for a while, but since
she was just out of school, they
thought she'd moved on with her
life and hadn't cared to keep in
touch.
SHARROW
All this begs the question: how did
all these people die, and where are
the bodies? Thrown out of a lock
perhaps?
ALEX
Well if thats the case wouldn't
local radar pick up the frozen
bodies. Wouldn't ships have seen
them?
SHARROW
Well, its all about scale, there's
a lot of nothing out there. Bodies
would drift perhaps eventually fall
into a gravity well, but its a low
probability event.
ALEX
No I think that if we are dealing
with a killer, they usually like to
know where the bodies lie, keep
them close, its like a collection
to them.
SHARROW
Well, the only place with the space
in this habitat are the lanes, and
we do have that horse connection.
My gut says we need to keep working
that angle.
ALEX
Yes my gut agrees to.
SHARROW
When ZED wakes up, get him to look
up ANNA BIANCHI and see if she has
any connections to the LANES. I'm
going there now. There are two
farms I need to investigate.
ALEX
SHARROW, be careful, do you have a
weapon? We don't know who or what
we are dealing with.
SHARROW
I don't have anything!
ALEX
Do me a favour, talk to JACINTA see
if she can lend you a weapon.
SHARROW
You sure, you really think its
going to be that dangerous?
ALEX
Look, plan for the worst, and hope
for the best. Actually I think you
should perhaps take SOPHIE just in
case, she can hang back and raise
the alarm if required.
SHARROW
So what are you going to do?
ALEX
Oh, I'm going to squeeze that bitch
BIANCHI, and see what falls out.
SHARROW
Well, don't get banged up with the
local coppers, that will just flag
loads of alarm bells and we don't
want those that are hunting us to
come running. Talking of that, I
heard a rumour that SLIM was on the
case. Did you hear anything?
ALEX
Yes, I did, GHOST was saying that
RUDI gave him a kill mandate. You
know SHARROW he is definitely ex
CIS I can smell it. There is zero
chance that the 'good old boy'
routine is actually real. I
suspect that he was in special
circumstances, possibly wet work or
something similar for his era. He
just likes playing cowboy.
I'm actually starting to feel sorry
for the bad guys, because I suspect
he was really good at his old job.
SHARROW
ALEX this place is exactly like a
Chinatown. GANDER was right, its
wheels within wheels. Very few
know what is actually going down.
ALEX
Yep, but thats why I like it. Now
go get SOPHIE and get out of here.
EXT: THE MARS ONE ITG FARM STABLE
(BEN, JOHANNES, SHARROW, SOPHIE)
SHARROW
Hello? Is anyone here?
SOPHIE
SHAS this is creepy.
SHARROW
Stay behind me. Hello, Hello
BEN
Oh hey, what are you doing here,
this is private property, you can't
be in here. We're not open to the
public, can't you read. This is
not a public space.
SHARROW
Oh, well then why was the shutter
open and I didn't see any signs.
BEN
What! You mean you didn't see the
three meter sign by the farm gate.
What about the no trespassing
signs, security plants and the
cameras, don't you understand?
SHARROW
Oh, well I suppose we were both so
very excited about the horses. They
are so gorgeous! (Putting on girly
voice)
SOPHIE
Yeah we really like horses, don't
we SHAS
SHARROW
We sure do. Look Ah, Mr, we are
sorry for intruding, but we
wondered if you might be able to
help us, it's very important. A
friend of mine has gone missing and
I'm looking for him.
BEN
So, as I thought, you're not really
looking for horses! You're snooping
around. I'm not sure I can help
you. Perhaps I need to call the
police. Clearly you're not who you
say you are!
SHARROW
Look, we are looking at horses
actually, this missing person came
up to this shelf to do the same.
Now, do you want us to file a
report, which by the way will
eventually get to the authorities,
that you, were not co-operating
with the investigation. We work
for a detective agency, by the way,
which has been employed to find
this missing person. SOPHIE show
the gentlemen our business card and
license.
SOPHIE
Here, its physical on paper, its
all legit.
SHARROW
So, is it really too much for you
to just cast your eyes over a
couple of pictures.
BEN
Well, I'll.
SHARROW
Furthermore, my legal secretary
here (pointing to SOPHIE) has this
tracked and recorded for court
purposes.
SOPHIE
Yes I really do, its recording now
as a matter of fact.
SHARROW
Yes thank you SOPHIE. (Pause) So
here are three pictures.
(Pause) If you recognise anything
no matter how small, please
indicate what you recognise.
BEN
Ah, urh, no, no. Look, I'm sorry,
I can't say that any of them are
familiar.
SHARROW
Do you think anyone else would be
able to aid in this investigation.
I would point out paragraph 304 of
the penal code of New London,
version 3. Requisite to aid
criminal investigations.
BEN
Ah, OK, OK I wouldn't want to be
seen as impeding any investigation.
Look, old JOHANNES over there gets
around on the property a fair bit.
Oi! JOHANNES!
JOHANNES
What? I'm kind of busy.
BEN
Look come over here, we have a
penal code on us. This lady's
missing someone. Come and look at
the photo.
JOHANNES
A what, penal. That ..
SHARROW
Yes pursuant to section 304 of the
New London penal code section A0
you are required to look at these
photographs and if you know said
images of potential missing person
indicate to that effect, in the
positive. Thats correct isn't it
SOPHIE
SOPHIE
Why yes its is, here is our
license!
JOHANNES
Well, I don't know, the boss may
not like us talking to strangers.
SOPHIE
Well, of course if you would like
us to come back with half the force
from Davidson division, to dig
around and look for evidence. It
would mean quite a few excavations
of course, might really disturb the
horses.
JOHANNES
Well, I suppose so.
SHARROW
OK I will show three photos, if you
see one that is familiar please
indicate. Here's photo 1, nothing.
Ok photo 2, nothing OK and the
final picture. Do any of them look
familiar?
JOHANNES
No, I'm afraid none of them look
familiar.
SHARROW
Are you absolutely certain?
BEN
I thought you were looking for a
friend.
JOHANNES
Shut up, BEN. No, none of them-
except, wait. The girl. I know her.
SHARROW
Really? Where from?
JOHANNES
I can't really remember, I think
her hair was a different style, she
had beautiful long hair worn in
dreadlocks. They used to fall in
her eyes when she rode. That's it!
She was a rider at ADELLE
SORENSON'S place. I saw her go past
nearly every day for years until
one day she just stopped coming.
Didn't see her again after that.
Why do you ask?
SHARROW
Look sorry we can't divulge
information pursuant to any
investigate, its the penal code.
BEN
Let me guess section 304.
SHARROW
Correct.
JOHANNES
Well, you two have come all this
way up to our shelf, how about we
talk about it later? Say, tonight,
over dinner?
SHARROW
Well, I'm flattered, but I'm afraid
we have a police function to
attend. Come on SOPHIE we don't
want to be late.
EXT: THE MARKETPLACE
(ALEX, BIANCHI)
THE HUM OF A
LARGE, BUSY
CROWD; SPRUKERS
CAN BE HEARD
OVER THE DIN
BIANCHI
Discount oxygen credits! Discount
oxygen credits! Discount oxygen
credits, the cheapest in NEW
LONDON!
ALEX
Hey missy, how about you stop
yammering for a minute and start
helping with my investigation?
BIANCHI
Why should I, what's in it for me?
You want to buy credits?
ALEX
No, I just want to have a candle
lit dinner. What the hell lady, do
you think I'm standing here like a
deuce for fun? Now do you want me
to make a scene in front of your
stall, or shall we just close down
for ten mins and have a quiet chat?
I really don't want have a repeat
of yesterday.
BIANCHI
OH, OK, but I have my finger on a
panic button to some heavies
standing over by the cafe. They
now work for me as security.
ALEX
Good, I need a little action to get
my daily work out. Multiple old fat
thugs will make really good punch
bags. Then when I finish with
piling them up I'm going to have a
much more forceful chat with you.
Go ahead make my day! Now,
remember, I showed you some photos?
BIANCHI
Go away, your not a cop. I'm busy.
Like I said I know nothing.
ALEX
Yeah, well why do I have a hard
time believing that?
BIANCHI
Im pressing the button.
SCUFFLE AND A
SLAP
ALEX
Just one question? How you going to
sell credits with a damaged hand?
BIANCHI
Go away, leave me alone.
ALEX
Look, I know you're guilty,
somehow. I don't know how, but my
detective senses tell me you are
tainted. Eventually the cops will
come, and shortly afterward all the
press will know of your sins. How
many oxy-tabs you going to sell
after all that? Think about it?
OK, you don't want to look at my
pictures, but I have just one small
question before I go. Have you
heard from your daughter lately?
BIANCHI
What?
ALEX
You do remember your daughter,
PAIGE. When did you last hear from
her?
BIANCHI
You, you bastard, you filth. What
have you done to her!
ALEX
I've done nothing, honest. We're
just looking for various people,
including your daughter.
BIANCHI
Get away from me, you bitch!
ALEX
Look calm down, wow, put the gun
down. Shooting me is not going to
solve anything. I have not touched
your daughter, I don't know where
she is.
BIANCHI
Back off, I'll use it you know!
ALEX
OK, I'm moving away, calm down,
moving away.
EXT: THE SORENSON FARM
(ALEX, CULAN, KOPANJA, SHARROW, SOPHIE, SORENSON)
SHARROW
What's that noise SOPHIE?
A LOW, STEADY
BOOM, BOOM, BOOM
STARTS, VERY
SOFTLY
SHARROW
It's even making the ground vibrate
Very strong. I'm guessing that the
building in front of me is a
domicile. Hang on I'll adjust the
binoculars. (Pause) OK, SOPHIE I'M
going to teach you some field
craft. This is what is called a
sweep. Now I want you to get your
pencil and pad and don't look at
the scene. I'm going to describe
what I see in a concise but
detailed manner. You draw what I
describe, then we will compare
notes.
SOPHIE
OK, I understand, but why don't we
just fly a drone with a LIDAR and
build a three D model using
photogrammetry and ranging.
SHARROW
Yes, ah, well, sometimes one
doesn't have all that high
technology. A detailed description
takes out the clutter and can be
done in almost all circumstance. OK
you ready.
SOPHIE
Ready
SHARROW
Starting at 1 o'clock one story
stables. At 1:30 behind stables
large two story, kit barn 10 meters
by 15 meters. Zero people. 11:00
o'clock another one story store
building for farm equipment length
10 meters. Noise emanating from kit
barn. You get the idea SOPHIE.
SOPHIE
OH yes, look I drew this.
SHARROW
Oh, that doesn't look like I
thought it would.
SOPHIE
Next time lets use a drone.
SHARROW
We don't have a drone.
SOPHIE
Yes we do, its in my knapsack.
SHARROW
Well, why didn't you say you had a
drone. Is it noisy, I don't want to
ring any alarm bells. Can you
deploy it to have a snoop around.
I think our best plan is for me to
reconnoiter physically, whilst you
deploy the drone. We are going to
need to see through those barn
doors.
SOPHIE
Do you think it would be a good
idea to get ALEX up here?
SHARROW
Actually yes, we are definitely
going to need her to have a good
poke around. Thats the sort of
thing she is good at.
SOPHIE
I've data-vised and she says she is
on her way. I sent a map of our
position. I reckon it will take at
least half an hour.
SHARROW
Good, lets get those, pull tabs and
get the coffee warming and hunker
down.
TIME PASSING
SOUNDS
ALEX
Oh, hi guys, good positioning. So
whats the sit-rep?
SHARROW
We've been observing the farm four
hundred meters at 1 o'clock, that
large barn, I want to take a look
around, but want some back up in
case it goes bad. No disrespect to
SOPHIE, I wanted you at my back
partner.
ALEX
Thank SHAS, always. OK lets keep to
the ditch along the tree line, you
go three trees ahead, I will
follow.
SHARROW
OK
RUSTLING AND
MOVEMENT, THEN
FAST WALKING
ALEX
It's clear you can get to the barn
corner.
SHARROW
Roger that. OK I'm going to move
up and just take a quick peak
through the stable doors.
MOVEMENT, BREATH
PANTING BUT
CONTROLLED
SHARROW
Oh, disappointing, just a horse.
I'll dart past the stable to the
barn.
MOVEMENT, BREATH
PANTING BUT
CONTROLLED
SHARROW
Phew! I really need to do the gym
more.
ALEX
Well, I wasn't going to say
anything.
SHARROW
Hey, I'm not that bad. I'm
slipping past the barn now, I'm
going to peer around the back.
THE BOOMING
NOISE IS VERY
LOUD
SHARROW
(Whispered) Contact, two people,
middle aged woman and man. Woman
is huge! Probably geneered I
estimate nearly 2 meters, arms are
muscled. Yep, definitely geneered.
Ugly bitch, she looks like she
could snap a spine with bare hands.
I'll tell you that bitch will never
have smiled in her life. The man is
shorter and slighter, but still
looks strong and wiry. They're
arguing in front of a large machine
of some description. It looks like
a lidded skip. I've turned up video
and audio but they're facing
slightly away.
ALEX
What's making the noise?
SHARROW
The equipment is really old. There
are some faded letters painted on
the top of it, "Progressive Impact
Generator System". It's definitely
the source of all the noise and
vibration. Wait one, they're now
arguing. I can just make out what
they're saying.
CULAN
My knee still hurts.
SORENSON
It's your own fault, we go around
this every time.
CULAN
Well, that may be true, but at
least let me go to a doctor.
SORENSON
No, never. You know the rules. No
leaving the farm on a weekday, just
do your work you useless slug.
CULAN
It's only Tuesday. So you're saying
I'm going to spend all week on this
leg and I don't think I can take
it.
SORENSON
Hell, you men are weaklings, always
moaning.
CULAN
I was kicked in the leg by a horse!
It's not a minor injury.
SORENSON
Well if you don't cope, your
useless to me, and you know what
that means.
CULAN
Your a cold hearted bitch!
SORENSON
And you're a dim witted fool, and
one who is dangerously close to
being useless. Useless things
always get discarded.
CULAN
But I'm in pain.
SORENSON
Do you think I even care. No buts.
No excuses. No special treatment.
The generator abruptly stops, leaving SORENSON shouting at
CULAN
SORENSON
I don't want to hear about it
anymore. Do your chores.
RATTLING AS THE
LID TO THE
GENERATOR IS
RAISED
SHARROW
OK I'm going to describe this as
the video is a little flaky.
They've opened the door to the
generator. They're taking buckets
and filling them with sludge. Oh
shit, heading this way! Retreating
into barn!
ALEX
I'm moving up, if necessary I will
create a distraction!
SHARROW
OK, but not yet. I'm taking cover
behind some barrels going silent.
ALEX
SOPHIE can you move to view inside
barn?
SOPHIE
Already anticipated that, just
using the light amplification. Oh
wait there's the man. SHAS was
right, he is an ugly little brute.
ALEX
Ok, but what is he doing?
SOPHIE
He has a bucket and is moving
around near some barrels.
ALEX
If he is startled by anything let
me know at once, SHAS is behind
those barrels, I need to fire off a
couple of shots if she is seen.
SOPHIE
Roger, got that. The side of the
barn away from those barrels is
filled with hydroponic racks. I can
see the his face now. I'll take
pictures so the computer can
identify them later on.
ALEX
Good plan, stamp and record time.
SOPHIE
Roger, oh wait another man has just
entered. He's younger, with long
shaggy hair.
CULAN
This isn't good. I swear I heard
something crack when I was kicked.
KOPANJA
You talking to yourself again?
CULAN
My knee its bust good, really
hurts. See? I'm limping. It's
getting worse. And the queen bitch
won't let me go to a doctor.
KOPANJA
You know the rules. You can only
leave the farm on weekends and if
you call her that again I'm going
to stomp you.
CULAN
Surely she could spare me for a few
hours.
KOPANJA
Ms SORENSON never makes exceptions.
Never.
CULAN
She made an exception with that
last one we did.
GRUNTING OF
PHYSICAL
EXHERTION
SOPHIE
He's pouring the sludge into little
troughs in the hydroponic system.
It must be some kind of fertiliser.
I'm glad I'm not SHAS it must
stink.
CULAN
I mean, she didn't even check this
time, she just picked him at random
and said, "He's the one".
KOPANJA
She has needs, like everyone else.
CULAN
Exactly! Everyone has needs! I need
a doctor!
KOPANJA
You're a pathetic animal.
CULAN
Thats my problem, she thinks
everything is an animal to be
exploited.
FOOTSTEPS
SHARROW
Whew, thank god, that was close.
I'm a biologist and I've smelt some
nasty shit, but nothing like that
sludge. OK, going to retreat, but
I'm going around the barn in
another direction, going to pretend
I'm a dumb lost tourist.
SORENSON
You! You there!
SHARROW
Oh, hello!
SORENSON
Who are you and what are you doing
here?
SHARROW
Hi, how are you? I'm looking for
the horses. Where are they?
SORENSON
This is private property.
SHARROW
But this is the zoo, right? With
the horses?
SORENSON
No. No its not a zoo. This area is
not open to the public. You need to
leave.
SHARROW
I'm sorry, I'm a little lost. Which
direction do I go in?
SORENSON
Look there's the gate. Go through
it and don't come back.
SHARROW
I'm sorry if I've done something
wrong.
SORENSON
Not yet, but you need to leave, we
have dangerous animals!
SHARROW
Well, then I know when I'm not
welcome.
INT: THE OFFICE OF ANGEL AND MAY
(ALEX, SHARROW, SOPHIE, ZED)
ZED
Whoa, what happened to you lot,
whats that smell?
ALEX
Well, its been a good day, had a
physical fight in the morning, and
a good bit of snooping in the
afternoon.
ZED
You're bleeding.
ALEX
Oh, that was a blackberry bush, I
was hiding in it.
A-RAY-3 RUSTLES
AND SNAPS ITS
TRAPS
ALEX
Down A-RAY-3, down, no your not
having blood tonight.
ZED
I don't think its you, it's SHARROW
SHARROW
Wow, it certainly doesn't like that
smell. ZED we have lots of good
data, been a busy day. I'm just
going to use the shower.
SOPHIE
Thats a really good idea SHAS, you
stink.
SHARROW
Why, thank you, we've been
detectivising!
SOPHIE
You sure have
ZED
No.
ALEX
SHAS can I just, quickly wash my
hands before you get into the
shower?
SHARROW
Yep quickly!
Alex goes into the back room and washes up in the sink.
SOUND OF WATER
RUNNING, AND ZED
RAISING HIS
VOICE TO BE
HEARD
ZED
Guys, I was wondering about all
those missing people... if they
were murdered, where are the
bodies? They have to be somewhere,
right?
ALEX
Well, that's assuming they were
disposed of whole. They may have
been chopped to tiny pieces, they
may have been liquefied and poured
into the sewers.
ZED
Yep, like a good movie, but you
need acid and chemicals right?
ALEX
Yep, there are always clues.
ZED
There's something else that's been
bothering me.
ALEX
Yes?
ZED
You think that Bianchi might have
murdered her own daughter, right?
Well, what if you're wrong? What if
they just had a huge row and they
decided to never speak to each
other again?
What if BIANCHI has no idea that
her daughter has been murdered?
ALEX
Now you're starting to sound like a
detective, and that's the nasty
suspicious mind you need develop,
to work in this office. The one
thing you learn in this game, is
that people are never how you
expect. I could be dead wrong
about BIANCHI. Just like she could
be entirely innocent and it's
someone else who's laundering the
oxygen credits. But you learn to
follow the money. See, when I tried
to show her the file with all the
photos of the missing men, she
called them losers and nobodies-
even though I printed out PAIGE'S
photo in a large size and put it on
top. ANNA BIANCHI looked right at
her daughter's photo and called her
a loser and a nobody. And that's
why I think BIANCHI is guilty.
Because if you can do that to your
own child, you can absolutely kill
a total stranger.
ZED
ALEX, you're very different to
SHARROW. SHARROW likes chemistry
tests and trace evidence. You are
the opposite.
ALEX
I go more with my gut instinct.
ZED
Doesn't that go against evidence
and facts?
ALEX
Yes, sometimes it does, but at the
very least it shakes the tree.
That's why SHARROW and I make such
good partners; we compliment each
other's strengths and weaknesses.
I do the shaking, she does the
stitching and between us we always
solve the jigsaw.
SOUND OF SHOWER
FINISHING AND
HUMMING
SHARROW
ALEX, can you hand me a clean
towel, I put some by the aircon to
dry. Thanks. That's better. Now
ZED you need to start some digging
for me.
ZED
Yeah?
SHARROW
I need to find a link between ANNA
BIANCHI and a woman named ADELLE
SORENSON. Also can you investigate
her business, it's some sort of
agri deal, with some horses, but
they look like a cover story to me.
Something is fishy about that
place. She definately gives me the
creeps.
ZED
Oh, so you have gut feelings as
well.
SHARROW
As well as whom?
ZED
ALEX, says she uses her gut.
SHARROW
She sure does, sometimes it really
stinks! Metaphorically of course!
ALEX
Hay, my guts been right every-time.
It also says that farm place is
creepy and that bitch SORENSON, has
some real darkness about her.
SHARROW
So ZED, the place is on tier five
shelf, its posted as an adjistment
farm. She owns one of the two farms
with horses that aren't open to
the public.
ALEX
And the second farm?
SHARROW
Owned by MARs One ITG.
ZED
STANKs property arm. That figures.
SHARROW
Thanks, ZED.
ZED
You're welcome. Oh hey, there are
some links coming through. You know
I've been thinking. I see how this
stuff works and I have some idea's
on how we can do this in future.
SHARROW
OK, that's interesting. Tell you
what after this case. We can sit
down and you can run through your
idea.
ZED
Good, I need to set up a little
demo first, its difficult to
explain.
ALEX
So, what's the link all about?
ZED
ADELLE SORENSON is ANNA BIANCHI'S
mother-in-law. BIANCHI married
SORENSON'S only child and son
PHILIP twenty years ago. PHILIP
took BIANCHI'S name and they
quickly had PAIGE.
SHARROW
Now that is very interesting, the
plot thickens. PHILIP still around?
ZED
Ah...no. Several months after Paige
was born he took a place on a cargo
ship away from the asteroid, never
to return.
ALEX
Now thats strange, leaving like
that.
SHARROW
We need to know more about BIANCHI.
ZED, does she keep an office?
ZED
No, not that I can see.
SHARROW
Then I'm afraid we are going to
have to move into full ALEX mode
and break into her residence.
ALEX
SHARROW, I like the way you think,
but that place is creepy. I have
bad vibes.
SHARROW
Well, we tool up, get ZED and
SOPHIE as backup, what could
possibly go wrong?
ALEX
SHARROW, quite a lot actually.
SHARROW
ALEX, I never thought I would hear
you say that, whats happened to the
action girl.
ALEX
Well, this action girl has a bad
gut on this one.
SHARROW
Look, I'm thinking that you and I
can go point, SOPHIE does
surveillance and monitoring stays
with ZED. Maybe SORENSON keeps
souvenirs. There's always
something. We need more data.
ALEX
SHARROW, this is going to be
expensive.
SHARROW
Hmm? What? There's no need to
shout.
ALEX
ALICE HELIGELIEN'S credit ran out
this morning. She gave us all the
money she had to find her brother,
and it's not enough.
SHARROW
Ah, shit.
ZED
So...so what now? You just quit?
You just tell ALICE that you
couldn't find him?
ALEX
Look, were not a charity and that's
the business model, we are barely
scraping along as it is.
ZED
That's not right, it's bullshit,,
giving up like that!
SHARROW
Calm down ZED, we're not going to
leave ALICE in the lurch.
ALEX
SHARROW'S soft heart is why we
nearly went bankrupt the first time
around.
SHARROW
My soft heart? Mine, yours goes all
the way back to our first days on
Earth. Who was it who spent a week
hunting down that ten year old
boy's missing dog. After finding
the damn thing, and getting into a
fight over it with its new owners,
someone returned the dog to the
kid. Then to compound the issue,
ALEX told the child, "It's okay,
you keep it,". She was offered a
forty dollar reward and she turned
it down! Forty dollars that would
have put food on the table and fuel
in the business car? I'm sorry, is
that my soft heart you're talking
about?
ALEX
Yes, yes, okay, okay, but that was
my gut. I concede, you may have a
point with the dog. In my defence
it was a little puppy.
SHARROW
And what about the duck incident?
ALEX
We don't talk about the duck
incident.
ZED
What was the duck incident, was
that her gut as well?
ALEX
We don't talk about it!
SHARROW
And then there's the one with the
Rabbi, the Chef and the Welsh
cricketer...
ALEX
Okay! Okay! I concede that I may
have let my heart rule my head on
several occasions.
SHARROW
Several?
ALEX
Don't push it SHAS.
SOPHIE
I'm learning so much about you two
from this conversation, and as I
have been taught by SHARROW, it is
all videoed and time stamped.
SHARROW
Hmph, maybe I've been a little two
efficient. Now SOPHIE, can you
fire up the old coffee machine,
because we need major detective
fuel, we've got an op to plan.
ZED, please pull up the security
details, building plans, and layout
for BIANCHI'S building and
apartment. If she follows her usual
schedule, she'll be spruking
discount oxygen credits in the
market very soon. We'll give her a
couple hours to hit her stride, and
then we're going to break into her
apartment and see what we can find
