If you're anything like us, you've probably been wondering what the future of travel will look like in a COVID-normal world.

With the expected pillars of modern travel, like open borders and free movement, now a distant memory, is the urge to leave our home countries dimming?

And what about once the pandemic has passed? Can we one day expect to fly from Melbourne to London within a few hours? Will space tourism reshape the aviation industry? And then there’s climate change – where does that fit in to the future of travel?

In late 2020, Mike (desperate for a tropical holiday) joined a Zoom call with retuning guest Dr Rob Grenfell and global futurist Rohit Talwar to unpack where we can expect to go (if anywhere at all).

Rob is the Director of Health and Bisosecurity at the CSIRO and has talked to the future of health with Mike and the Futurists World team for a previous episode.

Rohit is an award-winning thought leader, author and founder of Fast Future, a research and insights business that specialises in the fields of futures and foresight.

Rob and Rohit are uniquely placed to talk to this evolving topic and they bring genuine insight to the discussion.

So, amidst all the turbulence, can we ever hope for blue sky travel again?

While Rob and Rohit each predict that travel and tourism will boom once more, they agree it will look different – both in the short term and long term.

It's time to fasten your seatbelts and get ready to learn all about the future of travel.
