Invitation To Seek Forgiveness
SPEAKER_00A moment in devotion with Dr. John P. Johnson. What would it take for you to say before the Lord Jesus, Lord, forgive me of my sins? There are many events and forces in life that might lead us to Jesus Christ, such as the goodness of God, guilt, rejection, strife, emptiness, fear of death, and even this present day pandemic. The list goes on and on. Which of these events, if any, has caused or will cause you to cry out to the Lord, saying, Lord, forgive me of my sins? David came to the place in his spiritual life, where he was able to say, Lord, forgive me of my sins. Psalms fifty one verse one through four. Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy loving kindness, according unto thy multitude of thy tender mercies. Blot out my transgressions, wash me thoroughly from my iniquities, and cleanse me from my sin, for I acknowledge my transgressions, and my sins is ever before me. Against thee, thee only have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight, that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest. Now Romans chapter three, verse twenty three reminds us that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Yet many of us see our sins as not being so bad when we compare them to the sins of our friends, neighbors, and even strangers. That kind of thinking leads us to believe falsely that we are all right with God. I want you to know that whether you have one sin or one hundred sins, the penalty for sin is death. In Romans 6, verse 23, it reveals, For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Therefore, if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. John chapter one verse nine. This is your day. Come boldly unto the throne of grace and ask the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sin. Now that you know the Lord has forgiven you, let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we might obtain mercy and find grace to help us in the time of need. Lord, help us now.
