This year's VBS theme was a sports related one "GAME ON!". Our bible verse for the week was 2 Peter 1:3 "His divine power has given us everything required for life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness. On Day 1 the children learned that Jesus cares for them with the parable of the lost sheep (Luke 15:1-7). On Day 2 the children learned that Jesus gives them hope with the story of Jesus raising his friend Lazarus from the dead (John 11:1-45). On Day 3 the children learned that Jesus helps them believe with the story of how Jesus' disciple Thomas had a hard time believing about the truth of Jesus' resurrection, but Jesus lovingly let him see for himself by asking him to examine the nail prints in His hands and feet (John 20:24-29). On Day 4 the children learned that Jesus loves them through the writings about Jesus life written by John, "the disciple whom Jesus' loved". On Day 5 the children learned about how Jesus gives them "Joy" with the story of how Paul and Silas were joyful even while being held in prison for doing nothing but proclaiming the gospel of Jesus. The jailer and his whole family became Christians through the joy that they witnessed from Paul and Silas' love of following Jesus (Acts 16:24-34). Everyone at HBC would like to thank you for allowing to let your children join us this week at VBS. We enjoyed getting to know your children, and our prayer is that most of all they were presented with the knowledge of how Jesus loves all of us and how He died and rose again so that we might be saved and have a personal relationship with Him.
