008-Plasma to Beat COVID-19
Show Notes

In this episode, our host Dr. Trevor Turner, RMSK discusses convalescent plasma and how it can help us win the war against COVID-19. Also called passive antibody therapy, this idea is a Call-To-Action for all survivors of the coronavirus pandemic who want to pass on their immunity to those currently fighting for their health, their families, their coworkers, and even their lives.

We go through historical examples of how convalescent plasma has helped us in the past including influenza H1N1, SARS-CoV1, Ebola, MERS, and others. Then we move on to discuss the FDA's position on using plasma of survivors, how the process works for the patients, current leaders in the field, and where the ongoing clinical trials are in the United States. There is a special emphasis on NYC, the epicenter of the cornovirus outbreak in the US.
