Biblical Examples of Glory Carriers

Rev. Olufemi Babalola

It has always been the desire of God for His house to be filled with His glory. A church that is devoid of God's glory or Ichabodic, (that is, where the glory has departed) is not the will of God.

However, the glory of God is not a cheap thing! It is, perhaps, the height of divine experience God could share with a mortal. No words would be sufficient in explaining or describing God's glory, and it is an experience every child of God should earnestly hunger and pray for ever before being called to glory. One moment of glory is far better than a lifetime of fame. Alleluia!

A. God's Glory Defined/Explained.

  • It is God's special covering on His Redeemed Child - Gen. 3:10.
  • It is the visible presence of God in His Sanctuary - Exod. 40:34; 2 Chro. 5:13.
  • It is the weighty presence of God in the lives of His people.
  • It is God's supernatural response to those who fully obey Him - Exod. 40:34ff
  • It is the travelling companion of the Redeemed in the journey of life (from Egypt to the Promised land) - Exod. 40:36-38.
  • It is perhaps the height of divine experience open to a Redeemed child of God - Exod. 34:29ff.
  • It is perhaps God's way of announcing His arrival amongst His people - Isa. 40:3-5.
  • It is perhaps God's way of responding to His children/church that walks with Him in full obedience - Exod. 40:34ff; 2 Chron. 5:13-14; 7:1.
  • The glory is what makes an individual/family or church divinely immune to the enemy’s attacks, assault and intimidation - 1 Chron. 16:19-22 cf. Gen. 20:1-5.
  • It is the secret of awesome miracles manifesting through the life of His servants - Acts 19:11; 5:12-16.
  • Etc.

B. Prerequisites for Bearing His Glory.

  • A life that is regenerated - Jn. 3:3,7; Acts 9:1-4, 11-19.
  • A life that has been weaned from worldliness - 1 Jn. 2:15-17.
  • A life that is committed to dying daily (death to the self life; death to pride) - 1 Cor. 15:31.
  • A life that is solely devoted to pleasing God - Matt. 3:17; 17:5; Jn.8:29.
  • An uncommon hunger for God - Psa. 63:1; 84:1-12.
  • A life that is committed to prayer - Exod.33:18; Psa. 84:1-2, 8-12; Matt. 17:1-13.
  • A life that is committed to purity - Isa. 40:3-5; 2 Chronicles 5:11-12; 1 Sam. 6:20.
  • A life that is committed to the unity of His church - 2 Chronicles 5:13; Acts 2:1; Eph. 4:1-6.
  • A life devoted to worship - 2 Chronicles 5:13-14.
  • A life committed to complete obedience - Exod. 39:42-43; 40:16, 33-38.
  • A life of faith - Jn. 11:40.
  • Etc.
