Our studies in the Book of Nehemiah so far reveals the depth in the word of God.
We are about stepping out of chapter one and yet there is so much to be discovered in this chapter.
Tonight, we shall be peeping into the first and longest prayer of Nehemiah.
We shall be doing this to know more about the God of Supernatural Help.
My prayer is that tonight's study would prepare you for the new month and the rest of your life's journey.
A. Who is the God of Supernatural Help?
1. He is the LORD - V.5
The LORD as used in this verse and most Old Testament scriptures, is the covenant name of God. The Jews hardly mention this name because of the sacredness they attached to it.
The name in Hebrew is YHWH translated as Yahweh.
Some other Bible translators used the contraction Jehovah to avoid sacrilege.
The other 'Lord' that we are familiar with is "Adonai" and it is often translated as "sir, master, owner, a mighty or strong one, etc.
Cf. Ex. 5:1-2; 6:1-8.
2. He is the God of Heaven - V.5
3. He is Great and Awesome - V. 5.
It is unfortunate that many who do not understand the depth of the power of the above have commonised the foregoing.
For every little thing you hear them using the word "awesome."
4. He is a Covenant Keeping God - V. 5; Ps. 89:27-29, 34; Is.54:10.
Our God respects and keeps covenants. He is not a covenant breaker like most men.
5. He is a Prayer Hearing and Prayer Answering God - V.6.
How many of us can testify to the truth that God hears and answers prayers?
6. He is a Forgiving God - V.6-7; Micah 7:18-20.
Our God forgives and forgets!
7. He is a God that Remembers - V.8.
What does it mean for God to "remember" a man? Does it mean that God can forget his people? Psa. 115:12-13.
Are there examples of people that God remembers in scripture? Gen. 8:1;
19:29; 1 Sam. 1:19.
8. He is the Miracle Working God - V.9; Jer. 32:17-22.
Our God has been a Miracle worker from Genesis till date.
His miracle working power is still available.
You can trust Him for your own miracle tonight!
9. He is the God of Redemption - V.10.
Redemption has to do with "losing."
Sin made every man a slave.
Christ however came to redeem us with His precious blood - Eph. 1:7;
10. He is the God of Success - V.11.
Read this verse from other translations and discover other meaning of
Success? Do you know that you can enjoy success in every area of your endeavor? Josh. 1:8; Gen.39:1-5, 19 - 23; 1 Sam. 18:5, 12-16; 2 Sam. 8:5-6, 14.
By the power in the word of God and in the name of the LORD, I decree that our covenant with failure is eternally broken from tonight.
Remember that success is not the same as happiness, fame, wealth, etc.
To be successful is to have made a discovery of your destiny and fulfill it.
The Lord shall give us success in the month of February.
It is our month of success - all round success
