your pretty big Howard Circe show up. Yeah, I

spk_0:   1:35
was just listening to him on the way here. The only thing that kept me sane traffic here is really stealing really good about living on love poems after debacle. Getting to West Ashley today took me an hour and 1/2. I'm so sorry. It's not your fault. I'm going this way anyway. I'm going to help after this geographically made sense. On paper, it still does, but I guess you can I don't know what this city is gonna do, man. I guess nothing. I mean, people keep moving here. Have they have a plan hoping somebody smarter than me coming up with a plan? Because I I don't know what they're gonna do because everybody news, you know, out to the place where it's affordable to live. Somerville. You know West, Ashleigh James Island to John's Island and everybody's trying to get downtown, but work and play. And then around 4 30 it's a disaster trying to get anywhere. But look at me in L. A. It's a disaster all day long, so I don't know. I just don't know if the cities like, equipped for the growth that it's undergoing. But, I mean, what city is, I guess I think they're just gonna learn on the fly. Well,

spk_2:   2:55
I think there's more people moving here. Way just moved here last year, so we're definitely part of the problem. Yeah, so? So I guess what I really wanted to asking about his course of you. It's a Howard Stern kind of format interview. People's lives. So what's your favorite guest from the

spk_0:   3:11
show? You've heard our search. Oh, phew. I like. I mean, I I think that like I was just listening to Bobo. He's such an idiot that you can't help but laugh Love. Beetlejuice loves Eric.

spk_2:   3:29
So you're a big black backpack in? Yeah. I mean, honestly, I I was on

spk_0:   3:33
the wrap up show on Howard Stern and which was, like, a completely out of body experience and one that I'll never forget it. I think half their staff is wack pack. I mean, I think

spk_2:   3:46
Salome Richard for sure. I don't think Richard is. I think Sal certainly. Okay, I think it's interesting differentiation.

spk_0:   3:53
Yeah. I mean, I think I think Howard even alludes to that. He's like I would He goes of Richard and Sour like a package deal. I might be from friendly with Richard, but sounds like literally insane. And then, like, I think Ronnie, the limo driver, belongs in like a museum. Like a weird museum, too. So I think I you know, there's a There's a theory and that, like, you know, Howard doesn't hire normal people or necessarily quote unquote attractive people because he wants everyone underneath this thumb physically and mentally, which, which is probably a good hire because it's made for great radio. Benji is like, I mean, it just belongs in a the same inside. But anyway, he's all people that are gainfully employed under crazy.

spk_2:   4:45
That is actually my favorite. Oh, my God, I hate you. I want to hate him, I guess. Let's say he's segment very smarter and better looking than everybody. I do. Don't I look it up on Google images? I'm like, Is this guy really going on? That's about what I mean. He went

spk_0:   5:01
that shot. I was on the He's like I went to U N C. I'm like, big deal like that. That's a good school will give you wrong. My sister were there a lot of my family, but like, it's not like I'm feeling. It's just like, you know, you have You got decent grades and get S a. T s. Congratulations. Well, it's a dumb ass. Is that when you

spk_2:   5:24
lose the bra? But I heard that you turned some of your podcasts from this summer doing much episode.

spk_0:   5:28
Yeah. Yeah, I don't know, man. I just didn't. I liked the actual podcast part, but I'm not shagging guests. Shocking. You know, I'm not running down people, like all of a sudden,

spk_2:   5:48
you're not a person in a restaurant like Nicole, did you anything. Our bypass.

spk_0:   5:51
That's one thing. But no, I wouldn't want to do that, either. I don't appreciate her vigor, HUD spot as it were, but, um, thank you, I It's all in your back. It's all in my back. So I had seven different people. What are we doing this week? When we do the next week, it just and then. Then you have to ask somebody to do it, which means you're putting the burger, shifting the burden from you to someone else, but is really on you. And then all of a sudden you're jeopardizing friendships, connections. It's just because people are now. I was in Hollywood and on sunset, and I was supposed to have I just have this comedian friend of mine. Jenny Johnson is amazing. She was supposed to be on the podcast. I was, you know, she agreed to it, but she's a busy person. She's writing scripts. She gets called in to, you know? I mean, like, she's running around trying to make a living, and she's she didn't answer, and meanwhile, the people are nagging me. We got the studio space now, and I'm standing on the sunset strip on what What f am I doing? What am I doing? Yeah, but I I have things to dio. I have things I want to dio I don't want to do this anymore. And I just called My agent was like it's over. I was like, It's over. I don't care. I was like, you know, this is just too much like and I don't mind again, I'm relying on other people for my neck and like that, there's something that I just can't do. I can't reconcile that now if the company I won't name them had, like, said, we have guests lined up or there was a company down and I might revisit it is the short version

spk_2:   7:34
is so your first lost it, I thought was, like a little bit like, Yeah, you're getting to you. Come on. I'm so much trouble. What? Rob from problem is so much trouble. I double secret probation. I don't even want

spk_0:   7:48
it. That's another thing. Like I was like this. This sucks. This sucks. Like I don't know what I can and can't say I'm trying to be honest. I love to talk about cinema or whatever

spk_2:   7:59
while you're there. Interviewed here with Randall. I thought when the last episode, that was 45 minutes of gold. Good guys crushed it. I got the car this morning, and I was like, Wow, like, I hope I hope you get back into it. Maybe, maybe just for the summer, because the show ever. But

spk_0:   8:13
I Yeah, that's another thing. I was like, we did four shows. That was a pain in the ass. We cobble it together, and you know this person who made it just in time. I was like, I have to do 52 of these, Mother.

spk_2:   8:28
I was like, Yeah, I'm not doing that. I was like, This is hell on earth like that. This is a chain around

spk_0:   8:36
my ankle that I don't want. I just don't want this. I travel, I I'm in Argentina for two weeks. I The last thing on earth I want to think about it is a fucking podcast

spk_2:   8:50
that only your lungs were. The last episode you had. One of the advertisements in your episode is a really good friend of mine who was watching to see I work for a bomb. It has a podcast. I haven't seen him post any new ones in a while. Either he was like on the same company doing it. It's slow work. If you're doing all that thes

spk_0:   9:07
people sort of breathing down your neck, and it's their job to do that. You don't want to like, I mean, I'm not. I'm not trying to be nice person, but I'm just like, leave me alone, leave everybody leave me alone. But I just I'm just So stop that. I mean, there's some people down in Austin, Texas, who are like, Look, we think you were good and what we would do is we would say we have sweet for like, south by Southwest, for example, they would fly me down and we do six podcast in two days and then you're done for a few months, and then we line up some more somehow for you. And if you find the guest, I'll talk to anybody and I'll find a way to hopefully make it interesting. But I was I was just saddled. I did not like it, but I'm about Oh, I think I just signed a book deal. Congratulations on breaking news. Yeah, yesterday I met with them in New York and so hopefully I liked writing, but that's the way more about like, Okay, I'm in control here. I don't It's on me and it's all on me. And that's how I want it. Yeah, so

spk_1:   10:16
you give us any insight and

spk_2:   10:18
well, I mean, I got

spk_0:   10:19
so many stories. So it under so many essays about so many topics in the past, I don't know if some of them politically charged others, you know, just sort of personal and a lot of travel essay. So I got a lot of things written down already. They're going to try. They have some ideas they want to hire, you know, sort of assist like a ghost writer person. I don't want anyone really write anything else, but I do welcome structure and you know someone over my shoulder, because I probably need that, especially the writing world. You need someone to crack the Web where else you'll just procrastinate, because that's what you do.

spk_2:   11:00
Yeah, that's hard to be

spk_0:   11:01
disciplined with writing, for sure for sure. Yeah, it's fun to do, but it's just that's be torture us as well. Especially you have deadlines.

spk_2:   11:09
So you mentioned you've been reading about travel you've lived in a bunch of different, pretty unique places. What? What? What was the best experience? Really fight? You're someone's out there listening to, like, you know, I can't wait for it to go One of the places where they have to

spk_0:   11:23
go. I mean, I spent six months in Borders areas. I spent two months in Hong Kong, three months in three months in Dubai and three months in Austria. So and then you know various trips for less than that. But Ellen in a month and 1/2 in history, So I don't know where to tell you to go. I think all those places air Great. A home conch, Super expensive. But it's like, you know, you know, the Far East is just kind of cool. It's just like a culture shock. Argentina so beautiful and the people are so kind. And it's just like a different vibe. I really love that. So I would say Argentina. But that ended in like again. These are all places that are starkly different. I mean, United Arab Emirates devise a complete like holy shit like, where am I like you're in, like a video game or something. But I got really lucky there. Some friends of friends sort of took me under their wing, and they were very connected. So I just was like, you know, front of the line at all the cool places kind of thing. And so that was pretty cool. I'm gonna forget that. And then Austrians with all my boys, one summer, we read like a study abroad. In college, we basically ran through Europe like Attila the Hun. I just torch The whole place was for what I remember. Memorable.

spk_2:   12:59
So obviously something where it said that, You know, you're kind of you got your start with the show you met waiting on a rooftop somewhere from that moment forward. What's like the thing that changed in your life? That's been, like, the most surprising that people might find the most interesting. I mean, you had a pretty, pretty unique experience. We're in a small town. You probably like the second most noticeable famous person here besides Bill Murray, right? So yeah, I think I response that we got to telling people that you were coming on today was pretty like, you know, different people. People love you, man. Like I think you really? People feel very connected to you. You had vulnerable moments publicly, and so people feel like they get to know You're not sure You probably mixed feelings about whether or not they actually kind of know you at all. But I walk around and I don't

spk_0:   13:49
get any. I mean, I don't think anyone really from the show would get any flak because everybody's pretty polite here. That's why we all love it right here. So great. But I get a lot of positivity. I don't really think about it much. I don't change my behavior meeting. I mean, I'm gulps go like I don't wanna walk down Market Street

spk_2:   14:11
E. I don't think that would be like the best move far is just like tryingto get from a point A to B. And I'm not generally like I'm not quick or sorry. I'm quick to

spk_0:   14:24
avoid King Street on a weekend where it's just like Bourbon Street. So but otherwise I'm just go wherever I want to do and just sort of do my thing and everybody's very nice, and, uh, so if that means that I've done something right in the past to war it, that treatment, then I'm happy, of course. So, um, but I say Danny McBride's pretty, uh, noticeable. Let me see some other ones. Danny and Bill got me beat by leaps and bounds as faras notice ability. I mean, you know, I'm friendly with Danny, and and I'm not necessarily at all friends with Bill. That's a bit of a couple of times. Been very polite, but there there's a level that I will never know about, and I have observed in a couple of times, and it's it's kind of sketchy, Honestly, it was like all it takes is like that. There's a couple of drunk people who think that they're your best friend because they loved the ground hog day or he's found in town And, like, they really think that, like, you are their money and like, Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no. Come here, man. You know? And then and then there's, like, this weird, like feel it tinge in the air. And I've had, like, two moments where I'm like don't like listen, stop. But, um, I'm sure that they have those moments more than we know, you know?

spk_2:   15:52
Well, certainly since the show you've got around, but she had a lot of famous people who was the fan of the show. Where caught you like the most off guard. Really? There's no way this famous person is a fan of the show, but they seem to know me. Oh,

spk_0:   16:03
well, I mean, there's actually I'm gonna probably driving away. God should tell that story with this story comes to mind. For some reason, I think it's because I ran a funny tweet from you today. But Brooks kept God, who is the golfer? His, you know, four time major winner. But this is when he had only one the U. S. Open and he was injured. And this before he went on this kind of incredible run. So there's a couple of years ago and, uh, I was with some golfing buddies down in Florida. Jupiter? Where might folks at a home for a while. And so I was down there hanging out, and one of my buddies was like Greg Norman Jr. I worked for his dad for a while since I knew him. And he

spk_2:   16:46
was a friend of

spk_0:   16:47
yours. Yeah, yeah, and he was like, Come down. He's like, we're going out to dinner. Brooks is gonna be there, Kept guys like cool. Yeah, that's cool. Because, you know, it's a good golfer and we sat down and very nondescript, very casual, Um, and, uh, just chewing the fat and about 20 minutes, and he's like, on the season. And then he started, like, not only that, he is like, what was going on that one.

spk_2:   17:18
I was like, Wow!

spk_0:   17:19
Wow. So that was pretty cool. And things happen like that when I was at a wedding recently, and that's, um, SNL people. And one guy was like, I love what you do. He's an SL like a star That's in Elia's I love what you do love the show. And I'm just like, man, get out of, you know,

spk_2:   17:36
not groping South Carolina.

spk_0:   17:38
Yeah, yeah, I mean, I don't know. It's it's pretty wild. I mean, we just you know, Cameron, I'm sure Cameron's more well known than me. I think are more like, sort of, I don't know she

spk_2:   17:51
might. She might have a higher approval rating, but she seems to be universally loved by all. I mean,

spk_0:   17:58
like our love her and women lover so

spk_2:   18:02
hard to pull that off?

spk_0:   18:02
Yeah, it's hard, and she's gonna get a lot of light. Um, my boyfriend or my husband loves you, man. Lost What? Ugo? Maybe they don't approve, you know, like a tinge of disapproval. That's a commoner fame. But they admit that their husbands on their guilty of viewing person Listen,

spk_2:   18:25
I think you have a I'm uniquely fun vibe about you. That

spk_0:   18:29
is. This is like a psychiatrist section, or like a reverse one. Like, tell me how great I know enough about me. Really? Really. What do you think about me?

spk_2:   18:40
I told you, Started certain, My guy, This is S O. I think he's a great interview of all time. So no,

spk_0:   18:46
it's it's flattering. It's great. I mean, look, I wish like me and all my buddies were on a show. I know everybody says that, but like, yeah, we have a lot of fun and we're always joking around and like it's not. It's usually at each other's expense. And I think some viewers didn't understand that. I don't understand that. And I feel sorry for them. Honestly, like that's how I talk to my friends. I mean, we you know, you don't you know, poke too hard. But that's just how we talk to each other. And I don't understand that people get I'll be in your still mean to cry like that. So we speak like I don't get it, get it like that's what That's our lexicon.

spk_2:   19:28
Part of that. That's how men

spk_0:   19:29
talk. I feel like I mean, laying

spk_2:   19:30
for sure. I think, actually, why? You probably catch. And I'm gonna get in trouble. Probably me, baby look in trouble. But I think with Craig take some of that. Sometimes it's probably part of the reason why he gets in trouble here. Yeah, it sometimes it looks like he's in pain. So that barn Yeah. Yeah, well, it's good for me. I mean, my friends turned down dilemma. We're sorry. Jersey on. And I played rugby my whole life. So that's it's all part of the

spk_0:   19:57
deal. That's yeah, I guess I'm just stop, dude.

spk_2:   20:03
So this is a lot opportunities. Leverage business. Choose from the show and Craig. So on pillows and lives got bracelets, your bars and restaurants Here. I've got a ton of traction because people want to go to your place is right, and that's awesome, but from the work site of it. How involved are you Still with those restaurants? And where? Some of the hot.

spk_0:   20:24
You know, I got the Palace hotel, the Commodore in the alley. Please go there. If you're listening, they're great.

spk_2:   20:32
They are green. Might

spk_0:   20:33
find me there because those are three of my definite go twos.

spk_1:   20:36
Dave. Actually, from the alley is we've been chatting.

spk_0:   20:39
Come on. Oh, that's awesome. Yeah. So, love that. I mean, honestly, I'm not going to get rich off any of this, okay? But it's like, I love that I'm a part of it and I go in and they they put my dear that I like upon the counter. I don't have to say anything, and I get a little discount. So it's not a bad game. Yeah, but I worked on other stuff. I mean, I worked. I have ah, chef gear that I do my clothing and hats and basically just like American flag hats. Or like a funny shirt coming out. The new one says, Dad jokes. That's for, like, a tank. It's full instead of empty, where

spk_2:   21:23
people go to find

spk_0:   21:24
those chef here dot com s o and then also I like right I wrote about on the website. Like what? Bars and restaurants and things I'd like to do in Charleston because I get asked that so many times. Well, I think actually, get that second. Yeah, so you can read about it. I wrote about I'm tired of talking about Yes. Oh, that's been cool. I should probably devote more time to that. I don't because I'm working on writing, developing new TV shows, scripted shows about one in particular that I'm excited about that actually, some of Danny's former employees They set me up with these guys out in L. A. They been in the writer's room with Danny and his guys way back when And so they know what it looks and feels and sounds like to try to come up with. And so I had a good idea and we went out. I went out to L. A and we spent a handful of days just drinking beer and no idea was stupid. And we wrote everything down and no cards. And so we've got that. I'm gonna hopefully we're gonna try to pitch that in the neck, obviously, hopefully in the 2020 and maybe see what a network set up. Or whenever they start running a pilot, they're not got like, Yeah, no, I know I love. I've got, like, 100 different things I'm passionate about. My problem is is like, Is screwing down?

spk_1:   22:54
Yeah. You think you got a lot going on?

spk_2:   22:56
Do. And I've got all these

spk_0:   22:57
other TV shows not. I know unscripted, but, um, yeah, I don't know if I can talk about him, but, like, look, I can't do two non scripted shows, but I have the ideas to do a lot of them, and hopefully I can find the right hands to put them in. That's amazing. Yeah. Yeah, I Look, I've got my pinky toe in this crazy door of the entertainment world, and, um, I'm gonna try to see if I could get my foot in, maybe an arm and we'll see. See where that goes.

spk_2:   23:31
So yeah, so I guess. What was that? What you were doing? You'd be right now if you have never have you never met waiting on that roof never done it. It's like how much it would be the third funniest commercial real estate broker and I don't know who the other two did You, Uh how long were you in that? Uh, no, I mean, I was I work. I work down

spk_0:   23:56
in South Florida for Greg Norman for a while, doing like, resort development stuff. Our for a home builder before that. And I sold. I was in commercial real estate for a hot second in Hilton Head after business school when, like, the shit hit the fan financially in the world and everybody was trying to figure out what to do. Nothing was going on is dead. But liquidity had dried up, but so I would have done something like that, You know, something like that. Like, worked for, like, you know, the beach company or whatever you are. Whatever the local, if not Charleston somewhere else. Actually, that's not true. Back up, I I was floundering after business school cause there was again, like no one was hiring.

spk_2:   24:44
You got your MBA, Everything

spk_0:   24:47
from Vandy and, uh at school? No. And I found a

spk_2:   24:50
better than UNC. I'd say Sure.

spk_0:   24:54
Somehow parallel. But, um, anyway, I found this restaurant in Atlanta. It's like fast casual Asian food place and I was like this. I like the concept of, like food. And I worked for them for a little bit. And in the hopes of Franchising and branching out, um, I worked, you know, at the walk, behind the counter, at the cash register, chopping vegetables. I learned the whole business, and then they go out and do it. So I was I was on my way to doing that. I was on my way to do that. And then I met Whitney, and he was, like, Not under. No, You need to do this. I was like, No, I don't think so. Thank you. But we went and did, like, a little video, like a test video or something. And it was and I said, I'll never see you. Thank you. I was pursuing this opportunity with the restaurant, and I mean, I won't even get into it. Basically, at the one yard line that the rug got pulled out from underneath me. It was, like, pretty pretty awful and heartbreaking at the time. But, um, do you know one door closes another opens Bravo, I guess You know where? Yeah, So then it all started right after that. Just That's how life works. I guess so. I got no regrets, but I would if I was doing Rob. Oh, I wasn't doing the show or whatever up. I wasn't involved in the show. I would be somewhere, I guess. Maybe trying to do another restaurant or something like that. Yeah.

spk_2:   26:20
That's a hard business suit.

spk_0:   26:21
Yeah, this especially here. But Franchising is not all that. I mean, if you have everything in place, you know, and you have the materials coming to you, and and it's basically and it's a proven concept. So they have all the methods figured out. Yeah. I mean, the public could not like it, of course, but I thought it was good. So everybody should do what I say.

spk_2:   26:45
Actually, the hard part is finding good people to run a business. Yeah, I trust you don't wanna be there

spk_0:   26:50
every day. That's right. So that would have been a possibility. And whatever I have been doing, I would have had fun, and I Yeah, who knows? But I don't really look at life like that, but sometimes it's hard not to Yeah.

spk_2:   27:05
So do you watch any other reality shows? No, No. Vander Pop No. Nothing? No, no. Those guys all right? Yeah. You like? That s so, uh, we'll be hung out from there. Yeah. Good stories.

spk_0:   27:15
Every single one of, uh, yeah. Uh, Jax and I have been on And Stassi? Yeah. Okay. I need I think she's reached out to me. I'm going to go. Randall of LA Law's wedding in April. Santa Barbara or something? Yeah. That'll be cool. No. Jackson. Yeah, she's cool. She's out here a lot. We went to the alley and bold with Stasi and Kristen, right? I think so. Yeah. So yeah, they They're cool. Really cool. Glad to be friends with them. I just don't want it. I know I don't. They watch our show, but maybe they dio I just I don't know what I watch. I don't want you. Me? I'm watching the outsider about like that. I want to see, like, dark Gothic murder mysteries I don't really want to see.
