In this episode we talk with the acclaimed Iranian-born visual artist and photojournalist Mashid Mohadjerin. Mashid's work explores issues of gender and identity, with a particular focus on migration and the lives of refugees. 

In this intimate interview she discusses her background, motivation and taking portraits of activists for her acclaimed book, Lipstick and Gas Masks: Women and Resistance in Egypt and Tunisia. She also touches on the importance of emotion in her work, helping young photographers and reconnecting with the world after an intense assignment and the kit she uses to take some striking images.
