Do you know the difference between eating disorders and disordered eating? I didn’t but learned that I probably would have been classified under disordered eating several years ago. If you’ve listened to episode 2 of this podcast, you may recognize some of the symptoms my guest, Brittany Braswell, describes.

Brittany is a Registered Dietitian and recovery coach who helps women struggling with disordered eating and negative body image reduce their anxiety and disordered behaviors so that they can confidently restore their health and ditch food rules forever.

Brittany emphasizes the importance of replacing negative beliefs with spiritual truth to help her clients discover their God-given identity without their eating disorder.  She runs a virtual private practice with one-to-one services and group coaching programs to help women achieve lasting freedom from the bondage of their disorders.

This is an important conversation, particularly as it relates to our adolescent children, but I promise you’ll receive several nuggets of wisdom that are applicable to anyone.

We discuss:

  • Difference between eating disorder and disordered eating
  • The importance of not labeling someone based on the diagnosis
  • Red flags that might indicate disordered eating or an eating disorder
  • The language we use surrounding our food and how it impacts the people around us
  • How to support a loved one who suffers from an eating disorder or disordered eating
  • The benefits of collaboration with other health care providers
  • What a “weight-neutral” perspective is
