It's so good to be back.
Let me just give you a little bit of history in 30 seconds.
My first name is Pastor.
My last name is Jude.
You don't want to know my last name.
I married my fifth cousin.
We're both from Louisiana.
We met at a family reunion.
True story.
Our kids are good looking, but they're dumb at math, but that's okay.
They're in the ministry.
Let's see, I was raised Catholic, and I'm proud of that.
I was born two months premature, and my twin sister, I had a roommate.
Oh, okay.
And my dad was a chain smoker.
I love smokers.
How many of you love smokers?
Come on, all you vapers.
I see you out there.
And so dad prayed to God.
He said, if you let my babies live, they dropped me on my head when I was born.
So if you can't follow me tonight, now you know.
And dad prayed to God.
He says, if you let my babies live, I'll never smoke again.
We did.
He didn't.
And they named me after the Catholic saint of hopeless causes.
So if you're hopeless tonight, I got you.
I'm your saint.
I do believe in a God that does the impossible.
And I have faith for that because I've heard that story my entire life.
And so I want you to begin to think of one thing that you need from Almighty God.
And I want you to dial in because I believe tonight God can grant it and make it one of your greatest realities.
And Daddy wasn't really a committed Catholic.
I would say probably we would say today he was more, he had a spiritual mindset.
And I'm forever grateful for his faith to believe God for something impossible.
And I don't know about you tonight.
I am not going into this evening believing God for the average, the mediocre, and the normal.
California needs a group of people that are going to believe for the impossible.
Amen.
And this is a Holy Spirit conference, and this isn't the title of what we're going to minister on.
We'll give that in a moment.
But I believe tonight, and not only tonight, I feel an urgency and a faith and a passion to begin to
help usher in a new Pentecost.
And I think the day and the age that we're living in, in different fellowships and groups and church movements and even traditional denominations, whether Protestant, Evangelical, or even Catholic,
I think we would say today, especially in North America, Acts 19, when Paul said, have you received the Holy Spirit?
They said, and they were disciples.
They were followers of Jesus.
They said, we haven't even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.
And I believe tonight in this place, in this space and time, I would like it to become our upper room.
And where we create a prayerful space where the Holy Spirit is welcome, the Holy Spirit manifests, the Holy Spirit is present with us, and that we receive a presence and a power that we come in one way and we leave another.
Can you say amen?
And we really do believe that.
Amen.
And tonight we're going to do something a little bit different.
I want to speak about the Holy Spirit.
And tonight we're going to talk about the gifts.
But I want to give you four words or four titles after the Holy Spirit.
And then on the screen is going to come.
We're going to put the creeds.
And I know for some of you, especially if you're a Baptist out there.
It's going to trip you up a little bit.
And you're going, well, you're not bringing Mary into this.
Well, no, relax, you know.
But we're going to read some from the creed because I want to frame in on the Holy Spirit, not my idea, not a denominational idea, not a movement idea, but what did the ancient church fathers say about the one God and three persons?
Can you say amen?
And so I want you to think of these things.
We're going to see through the creeds that the Holy Spirit is the giver.
You may want to write that down.
He is the guide.
He is the glory.
And I love what Irenaeus said, an ancient church father.
He said the glory of God is man fully alive.
So any area of your life, you're not fully alive.
You could be fully alive in ministry, but not fully alive in your marriage.
Then that area doesn't have the glory of God.
When you think of the glory, don't think of a cloud and an angel.
Whoa, did you feel it?
No, the glory of God is more than a feeling.
It's you fully living in every arena of your life.
And California needs a new dose of the Holy Ghost.
And we will, if you're at Cathedral on Sunday, we will minister on the Holy Spirit, the glory.
But tonight we're going to minister, get this, the Holy Spirit, not only the giver, not only the guide, not only the glory, we're going to do the last one, the Holy Spirit, the gifts.
And so tonight we're going to begin to read that.
But we're going to look at the creeds and I'm going to have you read that with me.
in just a moment.
And again, I would say in the age we live in, we would say we haven't really heard of the Holy Spirit.
And Paul says, now concerning spiritual gifts, I don't want you to be ignorant.
That just means not having any knowledge.
There are diversities of gifts.
There are different ministries and there are diversities of activities.
So we're gonna go and we're gonna begin to read the Nicene Creed, which was written about 326 AD.
And you're going, oh, man, is he going to make me say our Father?
Maybe.
And so I want you to do this.
This is going to trip some of you out.
It's a nonverbal prayer, but you could do it.
It's a nonverbal prayer, but you could do it.
Come on, come on, come on, come on.
In the name of the Father.
Oh, you could tell all the Baptists in Pentecost, no, I'm not doing it, no way.
Come on, how many of you believe in one God, three persons?
Come on, in the name of the Father and of the Son, because he is the solar plexus of our being and the Trinity.
So let's do it again, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the, no, no, no, no, to the left.
He came from heaven to earth, not right to left, now you know.
Let's do it again.
In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
I want to begin to read, if you will, the Nicene Creed.
And I'd like you to read it out loud with me.
Just think you're doing karaoke and you're going to be all right.
And so it's going to come on the screen in a moment.
Yeah, here it goes.
You want to read it together?
Let's go.
Uno, dos, I could do Spanish, okay?
In the name of the Padre e Hijo Spiritus Sanctus.
Oh, my God.
Let's go.
I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.
I want to stop right there.
God made everything, even beyond the Hubble telescope, and he holds all things in the palm of his hand.
and keeps it by the word of his power, he's got you, okay?
Let's go to the next one.
Totally love this.
The sun, and it's gonna come up out loud.
Ladies, show them that you can read better than men.
I believe in the...
Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
Together.
Uno, dos, tres.
I believe in the one Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God.
I love this part.
God from God, light from light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father.
Through him, all things were made.
Now,
This is the person of the Trinity that we're going to minister on tonight, the Holy Spirit, the gifts.
Let's read that together.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets."
Now tonight, I want to minister on the gifts and I'm going to do something a little bit different.
Maybe you've never heard it this way.
I want to do a comparison or a parallel.
And you know what they say that in the Old Testament, look at this is my Bible.
All right.
And I have one on my smartphone, but look what's on there from last year.
Hey, man.
Isn't that awesome?
Now you see in my cathedral Bible, how many of you, you want a cathedral Bible, buy yourself a Bible and get a sticker and put it on it.
You got it.
Now look at this in the cathedral Bible.
They say it's concealed in the old Testament, but revealed in the new Testament.
And so tonight I want to make a parallel or comparison to the
The lampstand of the temple in the Old Testament and the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit in the New Testament.
So I want you to get that in your mind.
What are we doing?
I am comparing something in the Old Testament, the temple, the tabernacle, the lampstand, and then in the New Testament to the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit.
And so I'd like you to go to Proverbs 20, 27.
And I love this verse.
You see, the gifts of the Holy Spirit are not in your mind.
AI cannot give you the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
And the gifts of the Holy Spirit, they're not in your body.
Now, you could experience a sensation or a manifestation, but they originate in your spirit.
And it says in Proverbs 20, 27...
It says the spirit of a man is the lamp of the Lord.
So it's your spirit in a man or a woman that is the lamp of God.
And again, so we're comparing the Old Testament lampstand to the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit.
And so the gifts of the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit is in your spirit and that's where these charismata, these grace gifts are in you and I. And get this, searching all the inner depths of his or her heart.
Now let's go to Zechariah chapter four and we're gonna read verse two and verse six.
Zechariah, it's a minor prophet, it's towards the end of the Old Testament.
If you're in Malachi, just rewind and you're almost there.
And so I love Malachi.
It sounds like a frozen drink at Starbucks.
Amen.
That means you love Jehovah Java.
My gosh.
Here we go, look at verse two.
This is Zechariah 2.4, and again, we're comparing the Old Testament lampstand to the nine gifts of the spirit of the New Testament.
And he said to me, what do you see?
So I said, I am looking, and get this, and there is a lampstand of solid gold.
Circle that in your Bible, or at least pay attention.
When it says solid gold, in the Bible, gold represents divinity.
Brass is judgment, silver is character.
So when we speak of God, he is one God, but he is three person.
Now get this, I want you to look for three things, a bowl, a bud, and a blossom.
I want you to get this, a bowl, a bud, and a blossom.
I want you to write that down and look, it goes here.
He said, there is a lampstand of solid gold with a bowl on top of it.
And on the sand, seven lamps with seven pipes to the seven lamps.
So he answered and he said to me, this is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel.
He is a priest and this is a priestly people.
Come on, shout it out.
Women say this to their man every Friday or should.
Not by might, not by power.
But by my spirit, says the Lord.
Let's go to one more verse, and then we're going to break this down.
Go to Exodus chapter 25.
It's Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus.
My gosh.
The book of the priests, numbers in Deuteronomy.
All right, here we go.
Exodus 25.
Look at verses 31 to 33, and then verse 40.
Again, look for...
bowls, buds, and blossoms.
All right, here we go.
I'm reading from the Bronnie James version.
I used to read from the old King James, but now I'm doing the Bronnie James.
So it depends what version you read.
Some of your versions will say bowls, but it'll say knobs or... Anyway, buds, we're going with that one.
You shall make, get this, you shall make a lampstand of pure gold.
And the lampstand shall be hammered work.
Its shaft, its branches, get this, its bowls, its ornamental knobs or buds and flowers, one version says blossom,
shall be of one piece and six branches shall come out of its side three branches of the lampstand out of one side and three branches of the lampstand out of the other side three bowls shall be made like almond blossoms so you have a bowl you have a blossom on one branch and with the ornamental knob or if another version says a bud and what is a bud is just a little bitty baby flower
It's a flower before it blooms, if you will, made like an almond blossom on the other branch with an ornamental knob and a flower.
And so for the six branches that come out of the lampstand and see to it that you make them according to the pattern which was shown you on the mountain.
Okay, now watch this.
I want you to write this down.
I want you to write down a bowl, a bud, and a blossom.
Now, in the New Testament, there are nine gifts of the Holy Spirit.
And most theologians or ancient church fathers divide these nine gifts into three sections.
They divide them into the revelatory or revelation gifts, or the power gifts is the next section, and then the speaking gifts.
I'm going to say that again.
So the first category is the revelatory.
It gives revelation.
and that is what we call the bowls.
And so I want you to write the word bowl, all right?
Think of a large bowl that contains, a bowl contains something, and right there put revelation.
And what are the three revelation gifts?
It is the word of knowledge,
the word of wisdom, and discernment, all right?
I'll say that again.
So in the bowl, it represents the revelatory gifts, and there are three gifts that are revelation gifts, and that is the word of knowledge, the word of wisdom, and discernment.
Now, when we say, for example, the word of wisdom, we're not talking like Uncle Joe.
He has a lot of common sense.
And that's a word being used in the geopolitical spectrum these days.
We just need common sense solution.
That is not a word of wisdom.
It is a wisdom that is sagacious, that sees ahead.
AI may give you some facts, but it cannot read the future.
And we do not serve AI, we serve the alpha and the omega.
Now I want you to begin to get this.
In Revelation chapter five, it says there were golden bowls in heaven and when the bowls are filled, and you know what they say it's filled with?
The prayers of the saints.
And I'm wondering if in our churches we have not experienced the Pentecost that we've read because we've made it more about a meeting and less about a prayer encounter with the third person of the Holy Spirit.
I want you to just breathe in right now.
Breathe in.
Okay, breathe out.
No, it's not yoga.
It's church.
All right.
I want you to do it again.
I want you to breathe in.
I want you to simply say, come.
And when you breathe out, just say, Holy Spirit.
I want you to do this, say manifest.
Breathe in, manifest.
Then when you breathe out, Holy Spirit.
Now, I want you to begin to think about this.
When it talks about revelation, it's God making himself known.
And when we think about bowls, you know, my wife, every morning, I make the coffee.
And she gets up, and I'm telling y'all, I love Jehovah Java.
And she does it every morning.
I'm sitting in my prayer chair.
She gets up after me and she goes to the coffee.
She gets a big Starbucks mug.
She fills it with coffee to the very top.
Then she puts some half and half cream and it's gone all over.
And she goes, oh, I spilled it, I spilled it.
And so when she's walking, she is splish splash.
Drips of coffee is everywhere she goes.
Can I say, I think we will win Los Angeles, Pasadena, Glendale when our cups are so filled with the Holy Spirit, we will not have to try to share Christ.
We will be a living witness of Jesus Christ.
We took our grandsons to a water park last summer and they were kind of skittish of water and they didn't realize they were under, everyone just shout out bowls.
Bowls.
Say it again.
They didn't realize that they were under that big bucket, and they had a spout, and they were all dry.
It's like, you're at a water park.
Get wet.
No, we don't want to get wet.
And I said, get wet.
And so I said, Becky, watch this.
They don't even know what's happening.
Man, that bucket started teetering.
It started teeter, totter, teeter, totter.
All of a sudden, they got a
baptism.
They didn't, I mean, they got more than wet.
I have a feeling that the saints in California and the saints that are in heaven are praying for an outpouring that the world has never seen.
And Pentecost is not a historical event of the past.
God wants Pentecost to be a reality in our lives tonight, today in California.
In the mighty name of Jesus,
And when the bucket is filled with the prayers of the saints, bam, then I can tell you, God is going to begin to reveal his mighty self.
Can you say amen?
Say revelation.
For example, our youth pastor, Vlad, his little girl, Evangeline, she's only about a year, I don't think she's a year and a half, and she's starting to walk.
And she was in the church office just this Sunday.
Steve was preaching.
You should listen to it.
It's so good.
She's hiding behind a column in the office.
And I looked and said, Evangeline.
And she does this.
She goes, hiding behind.
See, this just happened.
She goes, hiding.
And then so she does like this.
I kid you not to look.
I go, I see you.
And she goes, hiding.
I kid you not, that night she went home, Vlad asked Victoria, hey, did Evangeline ask for dad?
Victoria said, no, she's been asking for Pastor Jude and said, hiding.
Can I tell you, God loves to play hide and seek.
He's wanting to reveal himself.
He's saying, I'm in here.
Come and get me.
Everyone say bowls.
You know, we move.
Now, listen to me.
If you've just started a church or you're a part of a new church plan, I want you to hear me.
Or maybe you've just given your life to Jesus Christ.
Do not think it's strange that the enemy would try to come and attack you and stop you and hinder you.
About 14 years ago, we moved to Ventura, and my wife Becky, on the back of her neck, she had a lump the size of the tip of my little finger.
And for me, and I really want you to get this, I believe one of the reasons that we live by just intelligence or strategy that comes from the mind and the gifts of the Holy Spirit were given to us
for the benefit in the equipping of the local church in the communities that we live in, and for our own sanctification and edification.
But it does not come from the mind.
And so I believe one of the reasons, I want you to write a word down.
When I think of bowls, I think of prayer.
I think of revelation.
And when I think of revelation, I think of this one word.
I think of contemplation.
Now, in Latin, it's contemplatio.
Gosh, it sounds like Olive Garden.
I want some breadsticks right now.
And contemplatio is actually a passive word.
And I think one of the reasons some of the former Pentecostals and charismatics are not receiving the revelatory gifts, let's say it another way, they're there, you've received them, but they're dormant, is because we're trying to work it up.
And sometimes we even pray in the prayer language of the gift of tongues.
It's like, like we're trying to, give me one more.
It's not 24-hour fitness, you know.
She rode on a Honda, Kawasaki, Tamabota.
Can I tell you, it doesn't come that way.
It is a passive act contemplation where you are infused with the presence of the Holy Spirit and you begin to get insight from another dimension.
Okay, so I'll explain it.
Becky had a lump on the back of her neck and I was sitting, it was five in the morning and I had a cup of coffee.
I believe in Jehovah-Java.
Not as funny the third time.
If you don't laugh, I'll say it all night.
I kid you not, I kid you not, watch me.
I said, Holy Spirit, what is that?
I didn't say, she's the Lord, she's healed.
I didn't pray in tongues.
I just said, Holy Spirit, what is that?
And I quieted myself.
God's first language is silence.
Silence.
Have you ever met someone when you're talking to them, you could tell they're not listening to you because they're busy trying to tell you what they think?
So I said, Lord, what is that?
I kid you not.
Clear as a bell, almost audible.
It was a gift of the word of knowledge.
Lymphoma.
I thought, whoa, that's not good.
I only knew one person who had that, and they died.
It's a cancer in the blood.
So, long story short, I'd say, Becky, go to the doctor.
Didn't tell her what came to me in prayer.
Can I say right now, for God to reveal something to you or I, he gives his secrets to those who keep them.
Mary pondered many things in her heart.
You don't tell your secrets to a big mouth, do you?
and neither does God, so listen to this.
A few months later, he kept coming, kept coming.
What is that?
The gifts of the Spirit are not just for a meeting, and they're not just for some, I don't know, extravagant Pentecostal minister.
The gifts of the Spirit begin in the upper room where we make space for the person of the Holy Spirit.
And he is the giver.
He is the author.
He proceeds from the Father and Son.
And he wants to give us these charismata.
And what is the revelatory gifts?
The word of knowledge, the word of wisdom, and discernment.
And so it kept coming.
Long story short, they said, you're healthy, you're healthy, you're healthy.
Gross came out in another part of her body.
Long story short, she'd go to another doctor.
They would do a CAT scan and a PET scan.
The PET scan, I wiped it up like a Christmas tree.
It was in her peritoneal cavity.
It was 11 inches in length, five and a half inches in width.
It was in her spleen.
It was in her lymphatic system.
It was in 27% of her bone marrow.
And one oncologist said, if you don't do something, you have one month to live.
I don't know about you, but I do not desire the gifts of the Holy Spirit for a meeting.
I need the gifts of the Holy Spirit to live a supernatural life in this life.
And so we went to one oncologist.
They gave a protocol.
Everyone shout out bowls.
Say it again.
And all the ladies said bowls.
Okay, and all the men said?
Yeah, and what is that?
That is God's revelatory gifts, the word of knowledge, the word of wisdom, discernment.
Now get this, the one oncologist gave one protocol, the other oncologist gave another protocol, and my oldest son, who's friends with Fillmore, he came to me and he said, Dad, how do you know you have chosen the right protocol?
What if mom dies?
Can I say right now, in the world we're living in, we have war that is on two continents.
California needs an outpouring, and we do not need Pentecost to be cuter.
We need Pentecost to be more powerful and effective in the world that we are living in.
And I said, Jude, I don't know, but I'm going to tell you what I'm going to do.
I'm going to get up before the sun is up tomorrow, and I'm going to do what I always do.
Sometimes we pray when the tragedy comes, but I'm saying Pentecost makes you build an upper room before the tragedy that when it strikes that you're not caught off guard.
Are you with me on that?
And I said, Jude, I'm gonna do what I always do.
I'm gonna get up tomorrow morning and I'm gonna pray.
I'll be up before the sun is up.
And so I got up and literally I was sitting and I was by myself.
You'd think I was shouting.
You see, the revelation, please get this word, contemplatio, contemplation.
What is it?
It's a passive act.
Get this, where we wait and we're just still.
And I have a word for someone.
The Bible says, be still and know that I am God.
When you're not still, you won't know.
But when you are still, you will know.
And right then a knowing came on me.
Word of knowledge, lymphoma, word of wisdom.
Go with the oncologist in Santa Barbara.
And we would go, she would have a treatment in December, a second treatment in January.
They did a second PET scan, and they thought if it shrunk only by 20%, that would've been a miracle.
After the second PET scan, after two treatments, they did not find cancer in my wife's body.
She's 12 years cancer-free.
And I'm telling you, when the bowls are filled with the prayers of the saints, earth begins to open up and healings happen and miracles happen and provision happen.
Our churches may not be able to outperform them, but we can outpower them in the mighty name of Jesus.
I need a God
that wants to infuse his presence in our lives.
Can you say amen?
Everyone say bowls.
And that is the revelatory guest.
Now, the next one, everyone say bud.
Now, this is kind of going to freak you out, but I think it's probably the most powerful one.
And it says the lampstand had bowls.
And now watch this.
What they would do with the bowls is they would pour oil in the bowls.
And I want you to really, really get this.
I used to think that the bowls or that main line of the lampstand was tongues.
And you have to be Pentecostal or charismatic.
Can I tell you, I don't believe that anymore.
Because I know some Catholics, I know Anglicans, I know Baptists who do not reformers.
They can move and operate in the gifts of the Spirit.
Why?
Because faith is the main pipe.
I have never seen anyone operate, grow, or develop the gifts of the Spirit within them without faith.
Everyone say bowls.
Bowls.
Look at your neighbor and say bud.
Bud.
Look at your neighbor and say you're a cute bud.
Now if you're single, I helped you out, come on.
Now, what are the, now this is gonna seem like it's an oxymoron.
I don't know what that means, but in that it doesn't go, okay?
You moron.
Okay, and so now get this, get this.
Bud is the power gifts.
And you go, wait, wait, how can that be?
And let me just tell you the power gifts.
The power gifts are the gifts of healing, more than one.
The working of miracles, number two.
Did you get that?
The gifts of healing.
The working of miracles.
They're still writing.
I'm gonna let you write it.
Love this one.
And the gift of faith.
Without faith, we will not see any of these gifts operate.
Everyone say bud.
Oh, I got it.
Say power of bud.
Okay, now get this.
What is a bud?
It's just the beginning of a blossom.
It's not the blossom.
Now watch, watch, watch.
Almost every miracle or healing in the Old and the New Testament begin very small and in the natural.
I wonder if we have not witnessed more healings and miracles because we're expecting it to kind of drop from the heavens.
Okay, let's do Moses, all right?
There's the Egyptian army.
There's three million Jewish people.
There's the Red Sea.
What does God say?
What's in your hand?
A stick.
Lift up the stick.
Well, wait, the stick, it was every day a part of his job.
He is a shepherd.
That stick was a part of his career for 40 years.
Can I say some of you are looking for a miracle in church when God wants to give you a miracle in your business, on your job, in your neighborhood, in your college?
Yes.
And he said, lift up the stick.
How about this?
And we're thirsty.
I mean, have you ever driven from Seattle to California?
Sounds like a road trip with three children.
So what did God say?
Hit the rock.
It's just a rock.
It's just a stick.
And then wait, I want you to think about this.
Well, we're hungry.
He said, well, okay, we're going to give them bread from heaven.
They called it manna.
Now, the real miracle wasn't that it was bread from heaven, angel food cake, and it
I was a youth pastor, sorry.
It's that they had, no, you know why we don't, I think we don't witness and experience healings and miracles because we're like the leper, the Syrian captain.
We want someone to wave their hand over us.
And God said, no, just go dip in the water seven times.
And so now watch this, watch this.
The real miracle wasn't just that bread came from heaven.
that they would go out and they would eat it for 40 years.
So they made manicotti, mana burgers, mana waffles.
Okay, that's dumb, right?
You know what the real miracle was?
They lived for 40 years without a sinus infection, without a slipped disc, without diabetes or heart disease, there was no sickness upon them, and you say, how did God keep them in the gifts of healing?
They had a different water source, they had a different bread source, and God did it naturally, but then it became supernatural.
I believe the way the power gifts start is a little bud.
If you let it grow and germinate, you know what?
I feel this, feel more.
God is implanting within you a seed for Seattle.
It's not going to come that old way that you're waving your hand like a magician.
You're going to begin to say, I'm pregnant.
You're going to walk different, crave different, be different.
They're going to say, what's wrong with you?
You're going to say, I have the seed of God's heart for this city.
I mean, I remember I told a friend, yeah, I have a car.
They said, what kind of car?
I said, a Volkswagen.
And they said, what color?
I said, it's like a charcoal gray.
And what, is it a, no, I'm getting a Golf.
No, I want a Wolfberg edition.
And they said, well, show me your car.
I said, no.
They said, you're lying, you don't have a car.
They said, are you a name it claimant?
No, I said, I'm not a name it claimant.
I said, I'm pregnant with a car.
I said, when a woman is pregnant, the first second she conceives, is she any less pregnant than the second she delivers?
I said, I'm pregnant right now.
I think the reason why some churches aren't growing, we birthed it in our mind, in our strategy, with our own catalyst strength, instead of being overshadowed by the Holy Spirit and letting something come in form in us.
Come on.
How about the woman who said, if I could just touch the hem of his garment, I would be healed.
Are you with me on that?
What about a boy?
Hey, what is this amongst so many?
Well, we have a boy.
He has a few loaves and a few fishes.
God starts off smalling in the natural.
The power gifts operate, get me, small at first, natural in the beginning, but they become supernatural.
That is so good.
I'm going to amen it.
Amen.
I'm going to invite the piano player to come on up.
He's on a vape break.
It's going to take him a bit, but he's coming.
No, he's not.
Come on.
We're going to pray deliverance.
Amen.
And you say, yeah, Lord.
Shout it out.
Now, get this.
Everyone say bowl.
Bowl.
That is a revelation.
And when you begin to have a word of knowledge, a word of wisdom, get this, discernment.
Discernment is not required whether to sin or not sin.
Discern, please hear me.
Okay, I know how to tell you.
Discernment is discerning between a good idea and a God idea.
I was a youth pastor for 25 years, and I loved it.
I had seven churches offer me a position, one of them 25,000 people, and in 1991, they offered me $100,000 a year salary.
I had a call to the youth of America,
My wife had a call to the malls of America.
She could have fulfilled her call on that salary.
Oh, I so wanted that position at that big church.
I wanted it.
I wanted that.
My dreams and aspiration for ministry, I thought would have been fulfilled.
In prayer, I totally believe the gifts of the Spirit begin to be developed, get this, and activated first in an upper room, then it goes to the city and the world.
So I get on my knees and I say, Lord, speak.
Your servant is listening, Lord.
I'm going to obey you quickly.
God is not AI.
God is God.
You can't even say God is a being because it almost makes him seem like he was created.
He's not a Marvel comic character.
I think sometimes when we say don't pray like the heathens, don't repeat, no, no, no, no, come on.
We pray to almighty God like he's in another planet.
Oh, great Thor, come!
He's in you.
He's here.
He's around you.
He's in every atom.
I said, Lord, this is it.
He goes, no, it's not.
He said, this is not what I have for you.
He said, if you come to this church, hear me, your marriage won't make it.
I am gonna send you to a church a year from now where they can't afford you.
Get debt free.
Oh, we want revelation.
God, can you tell me the winning Powerball number, please?
I would move to Vegas.
A year later, Wendell Smith, Judah Smith's dad called.
He said, we have no money, we have no people.
We're moving to Seattle to start a church.
Will you pray about coming and helping us and would you raise your own support?
I'm so glad we got debt free.
I don't know about you, but Pentecost to me isn't just about being loud and jumping and going crazy.
Is that all Pentecost is gonna be?
That we have a little bit more charisma than the other guy?
I thought Pentecost was the Holy Spirit.
I thought Pentecost is what birthed the church.
I thought Pentecost is what caused them to turn the world upside down.
And I learned something, no church, no pastor, no board is my source.
God is my source.
I'm grateful for Revelation.
And I'm not saying you shouldn't do research on the city you may move to, but I'd say discernment is needed.
We need a God idea, not a good idea.
And then, bud, what is that?
It's faith.
It's healing.
All I know, when faith comes, we hear a lot about the faith movement, and maybe people misrepresented it
But to me, faith is a seed.
Unless a seed falls to the ground, is there anything in your life that's died off your dream board?
It could be a seed that releases healing and the working of miracles.
Now, this is the last one.
And you know what that is?
Let me tell you.
This is how I believe the power gifts work.
Meditatio.
You should write that down.
We're ending.
First one, contemplatio, contemplation.
Contemplation is passive.
Cooper, you can't, contemplation is like, okay, I'll model contemplation for you.
Becky started chemotherapy for the first time.
That is hell on earth.
You go in and you're in a room and other people are getting chemotherapy and you smell it and you're overwhelmed and she's crying and I'm crying and I'm trying to be strong.
I'm her husband.
And all I could do is put my forehead on her forehead.
She's in a recliner.
They put that IV in and those chemicals are going in her body.
You know all I could pray?
Jesus, mercy.
Jesus, mercy.
Jesus, mercy.
Jesus, I couldn't even pray in the spirit.
Jesus, mercy.
And all of a sudden, just those words.
You know what meditation is?
It's when I actively engage my mind with scripture.
And too many times, we go through the list.
I'm here.
I'm wealthy.
I'm prosperous.
Stop.
Let contemplation infuse you and begin to activate and involve your mind with scripture.
Okay, let me tell you this one.
I'll explain it.
My wife was a severe stutterer.
When I married her, she was 22.
She couldn't say her name.
She stuttered 87% of the time.
And when I married her, before I married her, a month before I married her, I asked her, I said, hey, Becky, what if someone's not your friend because you stutter?
And through stammering lips, she said, then I don't want to be their friend.
That was what sealed the deal.
Besides her, she's gorgeous, her legs, she was a university cheerleader.
I was like, my God.
Now, let me tell you, if you're single and you're going to marry someone, you're thinking you're going to change them, stop it.
I married her as if she would never talk.
But God gave me a scripture right before we got married, Isaiah 32, four.
I will touch the stammering tongue and they will speak fluently and clearly.
And I would meditate.
What is that?
I would engage actively my mind with those verses.
No, no, no.
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
The Bible isn't like any other book in the world.
It's not philosophy.
It's not like the writings of the Buddha.
It's not like the pillars of Mohammed.
Oh, it's living.
It's active.
It's powerful.
It's alive.
10 years that worked in my mind.
And then one day, it has a way to get between your soul and your spirit.
We were in Canada, oh mother Canada.
A meeting that was not even like this meeting.
And an elderly woman came up to Becky and prayed.
She said it felt like warm oil coming from the top of her head down her larynx.
Like when you get a Novocaine shot at the dentist, she felt a tingling.
And God spoke to her and said, I'm healing you, and I have need of you to speak.
From that moment, her tongue was loosed, and two weeks later, she preached at a youth conference of 2,600 people.
The power gifts start small, but it requires meditation.
Come on!
Come on!
Do not let the book of the law depart from your mouth.
Meditate in it day and night.
Then you may be careful to do all that is written in it.
Then you will make your way prosperous and you will have good success.
Bam, drop the mic on that one.
Everyone say bulls.
Bulls.
Say buds.
Buds.
Say blossoms.
Blossoms.
Say it again.
Blossoms.
Now watch, and this is where we're in, and you know what the blossom is?
It is the speaking gifts.
And what are the speaking gifts?
The gift of tongues, the gift of interpretation of tongues, and the gift of prophecy.
Now watch this, watch this.
People ask me, are you one of those name it, claim it people
Or they've even asked, are you one of those faith people?
It's like, do you want me to be a doubt person?
I don't know, when I first got my cathedral Bible, in 1980, yeah, that's how old I am.
And I read that the children of Israel walked around
Jericho, seven times on the seventh day, seven times, and they got the city.
You said, how did you get Becky?
True story, I was in a Pentecostal church.
They were worshiping kind of like you guys.
I was still an adolescent.
She was beautiful.
I was ugly.
It does not matter.
I thought, she's the one.
I walked around her seven times.
She said, what are you doing?
I said, naming and claiming.
I walked again.
What are you doing?
I'm blabbing and grabbing.
Let's go, girl.
What are you doing?
I'm confessing and possessing.
Now watch this, watch this.
You know what that one is?
No, get this.
The first one is contemplatio.
America, our church, needs Pentecost, and for us to do that, we need to be still in an upper room
that we could begin to hear what God says to the church.
It's passive, and then you're infused, and then you know.
The next one is meditation.
It's where you actively engage with scripture.
The last one, I want to tell you, in Italian, oratio.
Oh my goodness.
Okay, Spanish, oracion.
You know what that is in Spanish?
Prayer.
You know what it is?
A prayerful declaration.
It isn't just saying, I'm not sick, I'm not sick.
No, that's not it.
I'm wealthy, I'm wealthy.
No, you're broke.
No, you know what oration is?
The speaking gist, get this.
It's saying what God says.
Abraham, even though his body was good as dead, he hoped against hope, and he called those things as though they were not, as though they were.
Are you with me on that?
How about another one?
Another one is this, not just saying what you think.
It's in prayer, in contemplation, a word, logos, is quickened to you, made a rhema, and you begin to state that quickened word out loud in your prayer, and it will be a new reality for you.
Are you with me on what I just said?
Okay, can I quote a verse to you?
Mark 11, 22 to 24.
They think the faith movement wrote it.
Jesus said it.
Surely I say to you, have the faith of God, or have the God type of faith.
What is that?
God called from the beginning the end.
He calls things into existence.
So watch this.
Watch me.
It says, have the faith of God.
Assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, be removed, be cast into the sea, and does not doubt in his heart, he will have whatever he says.
It's the last part.
It's the last part.
It's verse 24.
Therefore...
Whenever you pray, pray, upper room, Pentecostal prayer, not just Shandai, but contemplation, waiting for the infusion of the Holy Spirit.
And the word is in our mind.
It says, therefore, whenever you pray, get this, believe,
that you have received them and you will have them.
Can I tell you right now, it did not say believe you will receive it.
Believe that you have received it and you will have it.
Come on, what did the Bible say?
Shout, because God is giving you the city.
Had they had the city?
No, but it was as if they did.
You may say, well, where's the bike?
Where's the car?
Where's the mirror?
Well, I'm pregnant with it.
Can I tell you, when the Holy Spirit comes on us and we say what God says about us, it becomes a new Pentecostal reality.
Stand to your feet, my goodness.
I want to give you a verse, and you're going to put it on the screen, Isaiah 45.
I want to read this to you, 11.
This verse changed my life.
It comes from the old King James.
Listen to this.
Thus saith the Lord.
The Holy One of Israel, his maker, ask me of things to come.
That's the future.
Concerning my children, my sons.
Get this.
And concerning the work of my hands.
It's these last three words.
Command ye me.
Command ye me.
He is God.
I'm human.
He's infinite.
I'm finite.
He is holy.
I am sinful.
You know what I believe God is saying in the cathedral?
I want you to enter in a new level of relationship with me.
Do not approach me as if you were an adolescent or a young child coming to me with your list.
I want to go to Target, I want a dinosaur, I want a bike, I want a dinosaur, I want a bike, I want a dinosaur, I want a bike, I want a dinosaur, I want a bike, I want a million dollars, I want a car, I want a wife, I want a husband.
Come to me and get this and begin to reason with me.
and begin to command ye me, that you know my mind, and you know my heart, for not only you, but the ministry that I have put within you, and it may be in that seed form, but go and look, there's a cloud the size of a man's hand.
Elijah was a man just like us, with passions just like us, and he prayed, and he commanded,
that it would not rain, and it did not rain.
We are going to come into a new level of declaration, not only for us, but the sake of our churches, and the sake of our cities, and the sake of the world.
Come on.
Command ye me.
A year after Becky was cancer-free, the Lord says, I now want you to pray for people who have cancer.
I said, you have the wrong guy.
He said, no, I have the right guy.
In my prayer journal, there's now 15 people that are cancer-free.
Just the piano, don't start playing instruments.
Don't, yeah, just put them down, thank you.
We're getting there.
I tell my church, if I'm ever in the hospital and if you come and you pray, Lord, if it's your will, I don't care if I'm in a coma, I am gonna wake up and slap you across your face.
Nowhere in the Bible does it say that.
John Piper, the father of the reform movement, Google it, listen to it on YouTube, said, I think we pray that not because James says it, it's because we don't have the faith that God can actually heal today.
When I prayed for those people, you could ask Steve.
A woman, four weeks ago, tumors throughout her body.
Her daughters in my grandson's K-4 class came on a Thursday night, and we prayed, and there was a command.
Jake, there's a new authority that comes to cathedral.
And it's not authority.
Did you hear those seven words?
Might, power, glory, dominion.
God is asking his church to take dominion.
That we have a new authority.
And we're not just saying what we think wrong.
We're saying what God says.
And God's word in our mouth is just as powerful as God's word in his mouth.
People ask me, and we're ending.
Do you believe in the big bang?
Yes.
God spoke, bang.
And it happened.
You don't believe in the Trinity?
No.
Look at the atom if you could.
There's a neutron, a proton, an electron, but it's fused together.
It's one, but it's three.
Do you know who you have in you?
You don't have to shout.
He's here.
He's here.
I ask one question.
The night my life changed forever and I entered in
to a new Pentecost.
Pentecost isn't just one event in the past.
It's a reality today throughout the world.
And when we create space and our prayers fill a bowl and that is poured out, you could have knowledge that is beyond man.
When our faith like a seed in a bud form, you could see healing and miracles.
But I come to tell you, it was the speaking gifts that changed my life forever.
That one night, an elderly lady prayed for me.
I fell out, I'd never seen anyone fall out.
Jesus married Joseph, no way.
I went to Holy Cross.
But when I got up, I was speaking in another language.
And it wasn't like learning Spanish or Russian
It came out of my innermost being.
I had such a reality.
I knew the Holy Spirit was the greatest reality in my life.
